I have not received anything that needed a response. My case should not be closed. I am still waiting to receive my devotion which is All God's Creatures, Devotions for Animal Lovers. I received Mornings with Jesus instead. That's all I want and haven't received anything from you except in the beginning when I was told the correct Devotional would be sent to me. I have not received it yet.

Subscription we didn’t request
First there were the 3 extra sets of Christmas cards my MIL didn’t order. But we opened them to see what it was. They wouldn’t allow us to return the opened product. Then after a call to get her final balance, we mailed the payment. And we got another invoice for it weeks later. But when I managed to ask the right question, “Does she have any OTHER subscriptions or orders?” I was shocked!
“We rolled that one order into a subscription.”
What gives them the right to unilaterally decide that someone wants a subscription of anything? The 2nd package hadn’t shipped, but they refused to stop it. So we wait to return it unopened and then we wait for another invoice. I refuse to believe a true Christian company would act this way. How can they be non-profit?

I am heartbroken at the notice I received today that Mysterious Ways is no longer going to be published after the issue I just received. I LOVE that magazine. I am going to really, really miss it. I use to subscribe to Guidepost, but quit because of all the ads, but I will give it a try now in place of Mysterious Ways, such a spirit uplifting magazine. unwanted shipment of books
I cancelled my subscription on 8/16/2023.
The books were shipped on 10/5/2023. Why if the subscription was cancelled?
I was informed on 10/6/2023 that I will be billed for a shipment of books that I cancelled.
I called customer service ask about charge if subscription was cancelled.
I was informed that, yes my subscription was cancelled but my request to ship was not cancelled

A Book I do Not have....
I received a letter today regarding a Book I do not have. I've been gone the past yr. & while gone, I'd have my mail picked up, and any outgoing would be sent to the office for the Mailman. I sorted my picked up mail and RTS'd this book and it was taken to the office to the mgr for the postman. I as anyone, don't care to be lied upon or falsely accused of something I didn't do. The tone of this letter from Guidepost signed Barry Smith( director), is just that . Accusatory and it's false. I enjoyed the mailers from Guidepost before and have no overall issue with the Company. But I do have an issue when my name is being tainted with a lie of something I didn't do. I was staying in another city this past year Caring for an Elder. I do not have this Book and it isn't right to imply that I do and just didn't pay you. It was handed back to the office to go out with the outgoing mail when the Postman came. last four of the Acct No. on this letter 2260

Yearly Daily Planner Subscription
About four years ago I purchased the Guideposts Daily Planner. I did not sign up for a subscription. Since then I have received a shipment every year around September timeframe.
I have spoken with their customer service multiple times, usually someone overseas that I sometimes cannot understand, and have requested that they stop sending me these planners.
In 2021 I received a notice of cancellation a couple of days after I again requested they cancel the subscription. I also sent them a certified letter asking them to cease and desist.
Today, September 2022, I received another shipment with a bill. I am now in a different state.
As far as I'm concerned this is some form of harassment, fraud, and extortion. The customer service person I spoke with today said the subscription will be canceled and I would receive a confirmation e-mail within 24 hours; I was told this at least three times already.
I will be contacting the State's Attorney in their state and my state concerning this.
Desired outcome: I would want Guideposts to stop sending me these planners and stand by their claim that they have canceled the subscription.

Re Complaints: Some people just like to complain. Really! You would think they could be more civil and not come across so angry, we have enough of that in our civilization these days. No one is perfect, including those in the subscription renewal department, so be more gentle and understanding. Please remember to treat others as you would want to be treated.
Yes, I have received questionable subscription renewal mail, but all I have to do is check my own records to see whether or not I had last paid, and when renewal payment is actually due - either ignore that mail or write a note on it and send it back. Simple.
Re Compliment: I am a female, soon turning 80 years of age; mother of four, grandmother and great-grandmother to many. I have been a subscriber of Guideposts (various monthly publications, and numerous books) for many, many, years. My favorite is "Mornings With Jesus." Not a day goes by that I don't pick up that little magazine and read the message for the day. It is so inspiring, so true to life, so true to the Christian faith. And, such good writers! I would really miss it if I didn't have it sitting next to my coffee each morning. Guideposts is a very sincere, honest, loyal, organization, and I thank God for everyone who leads it, writes for it, and otherwise contributes to it.
Desired outcome: Never stop publishing Guideposts publications. I know of folks whose lives have been very wonderfully impacted by the messages provided in those publications.
Unauthorized charges
December 2021 I purchased 2 one year subscriptions as gifts; each subscription was 15.97. Since that time I have been billed 15.97 x 2 each month, like they have taken this money out of my account. I have been going around and around with customer service who tells me the subscriptions auto-renewed. Well the subscriptions didn't start until March 2022 and they are for 1 year, not time for renewal. They are charging me yearly prices each month and will not stop and will not refund my money. Now I have to take the issue to my bank and will most likely have to have new debit card which is very, very inconvenient & I probably won't get my mo ey back. I am extremely disappointed with this organization.

Billing for a book I already paid for
I have been a customer for probably around two years. I have been receiving the series Secrets of Wayfarers Inn and thoroughly enjoyed the books. In March of this year(2022) I received the last book of this series titled Old New Borrowed Blue. All of the books I had received had come with an invoice with the name of the book on it. I promptly paid by check with name of book in memo. When they randomly picked a new series and sent me a book I didn’t order I marked it refused and sent it back.A couple weeks later, this past Monday, I received a bill for the last book in the series which I had already paid for and it had cleared my bank, so I called to straighten out the error. My call was answered by a guy with an Indian accent I could barely understand. When I explained the problem to him he said yes they had received my payment but it was used to pay for another book. I have paid for EVERY book I received from them when I received it there was no outstanding bill. This is a rip-off! Just another way to scam people out of more money because I didn’t continue to receive their books.
Desired outcome: I want the fraudulent bill removed from my account with no prejudice and a letter of apology. Also, NEVER contact me again by ANY means!

Billing without proof of subscription
This organization is a Scam. They are targeting the elderly. They sent a bill to my mother which is 78 years of age demanding payment. I contacted their customer service number after looking on the internet for their information since the "invoice" had no number on it to contact customer service which just shows that it is shady. I informed the service agent that I wanted proof my mother signed up for this with her written signature. Their response was, "We will mail that out to you within one to two weeks." instead, my mother paid them even after I told her, "Do not pay this." A week later they send another "Invoice" stating there is an outstanding balance. I contacted them again via phone at 4:30 PM EST on 1/18/2022 and no I was not nice about this. Service Agent said they will be refunding the payment once it reaches them. They will be cancelling the subscription and marking it paid in full. I also told them I would be taking this to the internet to allow everyone to know this company is a SCAM!
Desired outcome: They will refund this money they scammed out of my mother; they will cease any further postal exchanges with my mother after they refund the money.

Alleged agreement to pay 42.88 for books sent to me and numerous reminders to pay same.
Recieved a letter dated 12/07/2021 on 12/16/2021. This letter says allegedly I owe fourty two dollars for some phantom books I ordered. I don't recall ordering any books and certainly would not agree to pay fourty some odd dollars for same. The letter looks fake and the ink is faded and I don't trust nothing like this. My credit rating is good and I worked hard to establish same. Furthermore I'm disabled and and on a limited fixed income. I know I would never agree paying for books from some place like this.
It is difficult to distinguish between real and fake today.
Desired outcome: I will look for books: Prescription For Murder and Where Mercy Begins. I will be glad to return these books at Guideposts' expense.
I really believe this is a fake complaint in order to get info to obtain property by false pretenses. I will follow through with the local Durham Police and hopefully apprehend person(s) responsible.

I subscribe to Mornings With Jesus and had renewed before the end of my subscription term. I was not informed at that time that I would not be receiving the November/December 2021 issue. I called Customer Service the second week of November and at that time I was also NOT informed that I would not receive my subscription renewal until January 2022. I just placed a second call today where I was informed that my subscription starts in January 2022. I paid for my renewal in October. I do not have a product. I am every disappointed and mislead. Why didn't the first 2 representatives that I had spoken with inform me that a renewal of my subscription wouldn't commence until the next year? In fact, when I spoke to the representative the second week of November she advised that I call back if I do not receive my magazine within the next week. With all that is going on, is it too much to ask that a magazine I depend on, look forward to reading each day, and paid for be sent to me?
I subscribed to another magazine in October while renewing Mornings With Jesus and was able to receive that issue for November/December. I don't understand why this happened.

I ordered the devotional for Christmas presents last year. Like the other complaint, I just received 2 more devotionals without ordering g them. This is so sneaky! I did not read anything g about automatic renewal. Shame on you Guidepost! Real Christian of your organization! I had fond memories of your magazine from my youth. You managed to wipe those away with this underhanded action. So sad!

I ordered three of the 2021 All God's Creatures Daily Devotionals for Christmas presents last year. (2020)
As I was looking at my bank statement (October 2021) I noticed a charge of $68.20 from Guideposts. I called to see why I was charged. I knew I hadn't ordered anything since last year. They said that the BOOKS I ordered last year were an automatic renewal. I had no idea! It must've been in microscopic print because I would've never ordered them if I'd known that. I never received any notification that I was being charged, or that I was getting more books.
While I was talking to the Customer Service Representative I told them I didn't order books, and I don't want the books. The Guidepost CSR said that the books were in the warehouse and would ship in 4-6 weeks, and when I got them I could return them for my refund!
So to be clear I was charged for books sitting in a warehouse somewhere, that I didn't order, and they took my money out of my account without my knowledge, and there was NOTHING I could do to get my money back until I received those books, mailed them back, and THEN I can be refunded MY money!
Ridiculous! Do better Guideposts! Christian based company's should do/be better ethically! I'm so disappointed in you.

Sugarcreek Amish Mysteries "til we meet again"
I was a long time customer. Whenever i received my books i promptly paid for them. I paid for this book which was ordered april 20th 2021 and arrived. I paid for it in full on april 27th 2021 in the amount of 19.69. The check cleared my account on may 5th 2021. Leaving a zero balance. Each month i am receiving late notices asking me to pay for this book. I have sent copies of the check front and back each month and still even today i received another bill treatening to turn me into collections. This time i called and was told yes that had recieved the payment but credited to something else. I said that is ridiculous! i have always paid my bills and written the books title on the memo line of the check. Further i said that if this continues i was contact the bbb, etc and file a complaint. If they turn me into colllections i will contact my attorney who i am sure would love this and they will have to pay his hourly rate. Suddenly, stacey put me on hold and came back on to say that the account was zeroed and if i receive another bill to just disregard it and asked if there was anything else she could help with. I said, yes remove me from your mailing list. I am throughly disgusted.

I've been subscribing to All God's Creatures since last year. I received my invoice to renew with my July/August issue. Made the payment Aug. 9 and it was cashed Aug. 16. I did not receive the next issue Sept/Oct. Called customer service yesterday and was informed that I just subscribed to the magazine Aug 16 and wouldn't receive my subscription till Oct/Nov. Customer service representative was very ignorant and kept repeating the same thing over and over that I had just subscribed. I would think that a Christian based magazine would try to resolve an issue rather than read from some script. I will not be subscribing with them next next.
Last year I kept getting payment notifications for a gift subscription that I had already paid and they had cashed the check. It took months before they sent cancel notice, yet they kept the money.
Misleading subscription renewal notices
I am my elderly mother's attorney-in-fact. I recently observed how Guideposts' renewal notices use deceptive and unclear information to induce premature or unnecessary payments from senior citizens. There is nothing remotely ethical about how this supposedly "faith-based" organization confuses elderly people.
In the smallest print, using "EXP", abbreviation for "expiration", the renewal notice shows that my mother has paid until October 2022.
However, the text of the renewal notice received in July 2021 reads "Your current Guideposts subscription expires with the next issue you receive. As a member of our Preferred Subscriber Program, your subscription has already been renewed saving you the trouble of having to respond to a series of renewal letters,..."
First, this is clearly, undeniably misleading. Second, it asks for payment when none is needed. Third, there has actually been a continuous, unending "series of renewal letters," often several per month, all requesting payments.
Guideposts... you are a slave to profits. And as a non-profit, your profit is not even shared externally. Your deceptive marketing, especially to elderly people, is sin.
Desired outcome: Stop deceptive, relentless subscription marketing
Your response continues to be misleading, disingenuous and confusing to elderly people. You make references to "Preferred" programs and "traditional" programs but do not clearly tell your subscribers the difference in the options, and actual expiration dates.
Rather you send an invoice at least monthly with an option to pay for some unknown amount of extension.
Norman Vincent Peale, a founder of Guideposts, wrote "The Power of Positive Thinking".
The current Guideposts management has transformed the founder's message to "The Power of Positive Cash Flow."
Guidepost charged my PayPal account as a "billing agreement". It was unauthorized and no order was placed. Avouple days after charge was debited an email was sent from Guidepost for an upcoming shipent. No description on what it was or item information to explain charge. I notified GP and Guideposts' response was to return it and THEN I would get a refund. I should not have to pay shipping for item I did not order and not received. Their fraudulent activity has been reported.

God's creatures
I never ordered the 2021 books and they sent a letter to my NEW ADDRESS with allegations that it is a "bill" and unless I pay, they will take negative action against me. I made sure in EARLY 2020 that any subscriptions I had were canceled. I did this with customer service AND online. I printed out proof to PDF in February, 2020 that I had NO RECURRING ORDERS. I then moved. Out of the blue, today, they sent a bill to my NEW ADDRESS.
This is nothing more than a gimmick to scare consumers into paying for things they never ordered.
THIS IS A VERY WICKED THING GUIDEPOSTS IS DOING TO CONSUMERS. I HAVE PROOF OF EVERYTHING BECAUSE I PRINTED TO PDF SCREENSHOTS OF MY ACCOUNT IN FEBRUARY, 2020. ALSO, HOW CAN THEY TRY TO BILL ME FOR A PRODUCT THEY NEVER SENT. THEY HAVE MY NEW ADDRESS SOMEHOW, SO IF THEY HAD SEND IT, I SHOULD HAVE RECEIVED IT.
I WANT TO LODGE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST THESE FRAUDSTERS. FAKE CHRISTIANS. THE BLOOD OF THOSE YOU ARE DISCOURAGING AGAINST GOD IS CRYING OUT TO HIM. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED!

I bought 2 Christmas gifts this past December and my friends received them when they should, and I understand the 6th of the month is when they are mailed. This is the 2nd time I have called.
