Our assigned property manager, whom I will refer to as *Jane*, appears to lack competence in certain aspects of her role. A recent incident highlights this issue, where I had to bring to her attention the statute regarding board meetings and the restriction on owners speaking during these meetings. It is concerning that a senior executive like *Janeis not aware of such laws or ensuring that our board of directors comply with them. Given the multiple mishaps we have experienced since this company took over as our full management contract, I cannot recommend their services. There are numerous other issues I could mention as well. Some members have already reached out to *Jane'ssuperior to express their concerns, but unfortunately, no one has received a response from him regarding this matter. I anticipate that we will finally receive a reply now that I have made this public post.

I have been serving on the board of my association for more than 15 years, and let me tell you, finding a management company with a work ethic that matches mine has been quite a challenge. However, I must say that *** from Hawaiian Properties has been an absolute gem. He is always prompt in his responses, even on weekends, and he takes charge of any situation with a proactive attitude. He strikes the perfect balance of giving us the freedom to handle our tasks while also keeping us in check to prevent any major mishaps.
I had the pleasure of meeting some of the other team members at Hawaiian Properties by chance one evening, and I was genuinely impressed by their dedication and passion for their work. They are a group of amazing individuals who truly care about what they do. If you ever encounter any issues, rest assured that they are open to sitting down with you and finding a solution together.

I recently received my maintenance fee statement dated July 22, 2022. To my surprise, there was a charge of $5183.15 for repairs and maintenance included in the statement. However, I was disappointed to find that there was no descriptive invoice or account enclosed to explain the details of this charge. Confused by this unexpected expense, I decided to reach out to the contact at *** to seek clarification. Unfortunately, my attempts to resolve this issue were unsuccessful as I was transferred to accounting and then to the property manager without any resolution.

Unfortunately, my flight was cancelled, and I was informed by this company that they would refund the room I had already paid for. However, I have now been informed that they are unable to provide a refund and instead are offering a credit for a future date. I find this to be unreasonable, considering the current global pandemic and the uncertainty surrounding its duration. I simply wish for this company to refund my money, as my trip is only 9 days long and with the 14-day mandatory quarantine in Hawaii, I will not have the opportunity to go on vacation. Additionally, due to the financial impact of Covid-19, I am currently unemployed and unable to afford paying more for a later date. I appreciate any assistance you can provide in resolving this matter. Thank you.

I recently requested an early departure from the apartment that is managed by the company on 8/23 due to losing my job. I sent them letters explaining my situation and the financial hardship I would face if I continued with the rental. In my request, I asked for a waiver of all penalties. They responded and informed me that I could move out of my apartment. Originally, my rental agreement was set to expire at the end of December, which would have fulfilled the one-year contract, but I would have needed assistance to stay. When I initially moved in, the manager assured me that if any issues arose, I could move out with proper notice and without penalties. However, the new manager made false promises and assured me that it was acceptable to move out, advising me to contact the office manager for my refunds, including the prorated rent from the time I moved in until the end of the month, as well as the security deposit. During the walk-through departure interview, I repeatedly asked the manager about the refunds, and he consistently redirected me to the office manager. When I reached out to her, she informed me that I needed to speak with the building manager instead. Unfortunately, their customer service has been extremely poor, as I have contacted them numerous times and they have continuously given me the runaround. Even during the departure process, the building manager acknowledged that the apartment was in excellent condition and would not be difficult to rent out again. In my letter, I followed the recommendations of the ComplaintsBoard.com (ComplaintsBoard.com) and set a deadline for them to refund me, but it has been an extended period of time and they have not even responded. Additionally, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has caused further difficulties for me, making it challenging to find a new rental and secure a permanent job. If he had not given me those assurances, I would have made alternative arrangements or borrowed money to stay until the end of December. I kindly request your assistance in collecting the prorated rent and advance rent deposit that is owed to me.

As homeowners, we rely on the board to inform us of vacant positions and provide us with the opportunity to vote on candidates. However, during the recent board meeting on November 16th, I experienced a hostile environment and received no support as a homeowner. This is in direct violation of our condo documents, which clearly state our rights to know the board members, vote, and understand their tenure. Unfortunately, a new board member, who I had never seen before, dismissed my questions about the process of changing our house rules. She claimed it was not the board's responsibility to provide that information through Zoom and that we would receive it in writing. When I asked her who she was and when she was elected to the board, she evasively stated that she was on many boards and it was not my business. Surprisingly, the property manager from *** remained silent throughout this exchange. I then turned to ***, another board member, and requested the information I needed. However, another board member abruptly requested that I be dropped from the meeting, effectively silencing me. I promptly reached out to my building manager, as advised, but I strongly believe that as a homeowner and member of the *** HOA, I should not have to go through him to address my concerns or ask questions during board meetings.
