Heald College Fraud and cheating

Last August I called heald to get some information about their Medical Assisting Program. I spoke with Michael Hendricks who later became my admission counselor. During our meeting I informed that I am going to be transferring to City College of San Francisco, so I asked him if credits are transferable. He said it is and i should not worry because Heald is an accredited school. So after talking to him about my goals and plans he wanted me to take the placement test and get started right away because he said that theres a class that will be starting in a week. So I went ahead and signed up. I finished one quarter and decided to transfer to City College in spring. Last week (First week of December) I went to city college of SF to register for Spring and I brought my transcript from heald with me. I went to the matriculation office and found out that they do not accept credits from Heald College. I contacted Heald right away and complained. I was transfered to the President. I spoke to the president of san francisco campus and he said he was going to investigate the problem. He said to write him a letter and put all my complaints in the letter. So I did and sent it last thursday. Monday, I didn't get any call from them. So I called tuesday to follow up, and the president was in a meeting so I left a message n his voicemail. No response. I called again today (wed) and again president was in a meeting so I left another message and the receptionist took my email address. Check my email an hour ago and I got a letter from president. he said that I signed a disclosure form that had the info about credit transfers. I wrote him another email about that disclosure form. I said that the admission counselor told me to initial it and he said that 'the information in this form (handed me the doc) is what we just went over. So I didn't bother to read all of the info in the form. I didn't want them to get away with this because I've been misinformed, took out loans to pay for class that I don't even need because I'm going to have to retake all the class again. All in all it is the admission counselors fault for giving me wrong information. So far I'm still fighting to get my refund and I will not let them step on me.

Agreed. Heald is a SCAM. They literally spoon feed students answers to insure passing grades and hand out A's like Halloween candy. The classes are a joke. Out my graduating class I only know of one person who found work as a medical assistant, and we are all burdened with outstanding debt and credits no other school will accept.

There are a lot of negative reviews. I was at city college and skyline and skyline isn't a very good school. Some Professors aren't very good at teaching the material and most of the students that go there aren't serious students. Yes, anyone can go to heald and for some of the people that you see that look like they just smoked weed or aren't dressed appropriately aren't very good students. You actually have to go to class and put I'm the work. When I signed up I had in mind, " I just want to finish fast so I can transfer to a state so I can finish faster" I finishing the program earlier than most students because I took classes at city college. And I went to states to check heald counts and if you go to USF's website you can see that they have heald on their list of transferring from. And healds credits count if you are doing the aa program not the certificate program.

Every student, different situations. You'll have some that takes advantage of the services and that has helped them succeed. You'll have those that runs into Financial Aid situations. Overall, as a graduate of April 2007, I was pretty pleased with my time at Heald. I took advantage of their challenge exams and passed many courses, saving me a whole quarter worth of tuition. When I received my overall bill, I only took out approx. $11K of loan for the 15 months that I was there.

As far as the job placement, I received at least three professional interviews within my program "Medical Office Administration" within three weeks after graduation and landed a job starting at $12 per hour. Not speaking for everyone but myself, I enjoyed my time at Heald and it continues to pay off today as I am already at $17 per hour within 6 years...

I was a student at Heald College. First I did the MIBC program, after I was done I couldn't find a job. All the posting job I can find is all medical assistant or you have to have both, so then I went back and decided to get my medical assisting with AAS Degree. After I graduated I started volunteer work and building a network of people where they can help me find a job. Now I work two jobs, my first job Heald actually help me find it, is at a Dr.'s office and the other job a friend of mind recommended me at a surgery center, and now that I have all this experience I'm getting more offer to other places. I'm going back to school to get my physician assistant soon. I'm not hoping or expecting that they will take any of my credit at Heald. But i know im getting the experience I need.

I feel everyone's concern and frustrations but you cant give up. Heald is not a bad school if you just used what you learned and apply it after your done. what i mean to that if you cant find a job do some volunteer work and start meeting people in your network. In my opinion any school would be a waste if you don't get up and not use what you learn. Schools teach, our responsibility is to go out and do it! God bless to all

all of these people who have complaints NEED to contact the department of education! SERIOUSLY we can do something about the scams this college is doing. IF enough people report them to the department of education I think this college could get into huge trouble for the ### that they are pulling. I ALSO WENT THROUGH THAT BULL ###. The department of education's phone number is [protected]. That phone number will get you to at least a voice mail of a woman. Leave a message about how you need to speak to someone in the department of education concerning Heald college with your name and phone number. Then talk to a lady or gentlemen over there and explain all the unscrupulous behavior that has taken place! Please call it isn't fair for those after you to be taken advantage of in the same manner. There is also a way to file a formal complaint. http://www.sacscoc.org/pdf/081705/complaintpolicy.pdf

Heald is a scam! I am battling it out with them right now. They promised me that my pell grant would go through, and yes I am eligible for pell. I started in April, I has filled out my fafsa for that student year back in JULY for the current year. All of my paperwork was supposedly going through the process...So I waited, and waited. And then the law changed regarding pell and I realized I wouldn't be able to finish up my degree there. So I spoke to the business department, I spoke to financial aid, I met the President of the college, I contacted the department of education, I also wrote a letter to the CEO of the college. All complaining about how long the filing for financial aid was taking. I had applied for the aid to be sent to Heald in April. It was August and they still had not processed the paperwork! I waited until they told me all the paperwork had gone through and that all the money from my financial aid had been applied to the previous quarter (bare in mind I wasn't keeping any of the money, I just wanted it to cover tuition for me). So once that was done and I had receipt saying it was finished I dropped. Only to get a bill for $2000 in the mail saying THEY HAD SENT IT BACK FOR THE PREVIOUS QUARTER! IT was already half way into their July quarter and prior to starting in April they promised my aid would be in sometime that same semester! Heald is a joke! A TERRIBLE college. NEVER go there if you can help it, they are a complete SCAM! Their credits don't transfer, they make you take useless classes, and oh, if you happen to have any paperwork they will lose it for months on end. THEY WILL DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING UNLESS YOU *HOUND* THEM. If you're currently dealing with them be a complete ### to them. Seriously, it's the only way to get answers and ask the same question 10 times if you have to! they withhold information! Maybe even pack a TAPE RECORDER record EVERY conversation you have with their representatives! to be used as proof that they lie their faces off to confuse students! I've been to other colleges, and NONE of them have treated me the same way heald did. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE COLLEGE!

Im so glad I didnt sign my life away to this ridiculous excuse of a "school" I was interested in the MA program at the Hayward site but after doing a lot of research on this [censored]hole I opted not to apply. Instead I decided to go Bay area medical academy in SF. Cheaper and no interest payment plans. Like it was stated in previous posts Heald is a for profit school which means they want to pull as much money out of your pockets as they can. Good luck people! and dont forget to do your research and read the fine print before signing your life to these sob's
