Hestia Construction & Design I recently hired Hestia Construction & Design, LLC for my bathroom and patio remodel

I recently hired Hestia Construction & Design, LLC for my bathroom and patio remodel. I gotta say, I was super happy with the work they did and how well they kept me in the loop. The end result is exactly what I had in mind when I first started dreaming about my perfect bathroom. Now, after a long day at work, I can unwind in my own little spa and then chill out in my beautiful backyard getaway. Big thanks to the Hestia team!

I found working with the renovation specialist, Michael, and the whole team of designers, project managers and support staff as a very positive experience. Should I need more improvements, I will definitely be giving them a call for my next project.

Hestia Construction & Design Desmond from Hestia Construction & Design, LLC was awesome to work with

Desmond from Hestia Construction & Design, LLC was awesome to work with. He was super professional and responsive. He answered questions and concerns real fast and was always nice and polite. Desmond was a real genius at solving problems, figuring out the best and quickest ways to fix any issues that popped up. He made sure our project moved along smoothly and managed the long list of tasks our renovation needed. We've heard some scary tales about renovations, but working with Desmond has been a total blessing. We'll totally recommend Hestia to everyone from now on!

Hestia Construction & Design I was gonna have them do a kitchen remodel and gave them over $31000

I was gonna have them do a kitchen remodel and gave them over $31000. It was obvious cuz of their always changing employees and not so good business ways that I wouldn't get my kitchen done the way I wanted or on time without having liens put on my house by other contractors. On June 30th I canceled the remodel and asked for my money back. On June 13th I asked for a refund again. I haven't heard anything from them about my refund.

Hestia Construction & Design I hired Hestia Construction & Design, LLC on 11/19 to transform my attached garage and storage room into a bedroom and bathroom

I hired Hestia Construction & Design, LLC on 11/19 to transform my attached garage and storage room into a bedroom and bathroom. I gave them 50% of the total cost and paid with a check. Unfortunately, they were unable to begin the agreed-upon remodeling project. They didn't even start any work. To make matters worse, four project managers left the company. So, I decided to request a refund of my down payment, which amounted to $19,565.40. Thankfully, they agreed to return the money.

We had a lot of back-and-forth communication, and eventually, they proposed paying me back in four installments. I agreed to this arrangement. The first payment of $4,398.95 was sent to me via check on 06/12. However, the second payment, also amounting to $4,398.95 and dated 06/23, bounced. I've been in contact with Melissa, the office manager at Hestia, as she handles all the communication. Unfortunately, the general manager, Brian, who initially agreed to the four payments, has since left the company.

My most recent conversation with Hestia was with Melissa, who assured me that the payment is on its way. However, I have yet to receive it.

Hestia Construction & Design We first talked to Hestia to help us with our house add-on and we paid for that

We first talked to Hestia to help us with our house add-on and we paid for that. We had lots of calls and talks, and finally got a design we liked. So we decided to go ahead and have Hestia do the add-on. We paid some money on November 2, but then we had lots of times where the Hestia team said things and then didn't do them. They never kept their word on when things would be done, not even within a week of when they said. So on February 14, we asked to cancel the contract and they said they would give us our money back in 45 days. They never told us how much they spent, but we signed anyway to get some of our money back on April 12. But now it's April 22 and we still haven't gotten the refund they said they would give us.

Hestia Construction & Design We hired Hestia Construction & Design, LLC in August to remodel our kitchen

We hired Hestia Construction & Design, LLC in August to remodel our kitchen. They said the work would start in October, but by 10/28, we still didn't have drawings from their supplier that matched what we wanted. So, we told them we wanted to cancel the contract. But they said we could only do that if we paid them around $6000 as a cancellation fee. We didn't think they did enough work to deserve that fee, but we had no choice and decided to find a new project manager.

Finally, in January, they gave us a layout that met our requirements. In September, they asked us to waive the permits for the project. But in January, we realized that was a mistake and asked them to get the proper permits as originally planned. After waiting for 2 weeks, they told us there would be extra charges for the drawings needed to get the permits. We were frustrated and asked to cancel again, but they insisted we could only do that by paying the fee.

On March 10th and 12th, we tried to talk to the owners to find a fair solution, but they didn't respond. We even sent them two certified letters by mail, but still no response.

Hestia Construction & Design Only 5 days of work were done in the first 6 weeks

Only 5 days of work were done in the first 6 weeks. The living room was a mess with supplies and insulation (see photo). Hestia's bid was way higher than others, almost 10k more, but I still chose them because the rep said it would be a better experience. It wasn't. I had to find most things myself and bug my onboarding specialist multiple times to help me find the right-sized windows. I had to be my own contractor to make sure things were done right and as per the contract. I even had to call to get them to remove the dumpster, which sat on my property for over a month after the job was done. The contract said I had 3 days to pay after completion, but on July 2 at 3:45pm, I was told I had until 5pm or they'd put a lien on my house. The job wasn't finished until July 13.

Hestia Construction & Design In October , we gave Hestia Construction & Design, LLC a down payment of $36,500 for the remodeling of our home, which was estimated to cost

In October , we gave Hestia Construction & Design, LLC a down payment of $36,500 for the remodeling of our home, which was estimated to cost $146,500. Jesse, their representative, informed us that they would finance $100,000, but we needed to make a down payment of $10,000 once construction began. They assured us that after three months of completion, we would start making payments on the loan. Being over 65, my husband and I were thrilled to finally have this project underway. However, to our disappointment, they never started the work.

On December 10th, we received a call from their billing person asking how we planned to make the payment. It was then that we discovered they hadn't even checked our credit to determine if we qualified for the $100,000 loan! Shockingly, we only qualified for $15,000. If we had known this from the beginning, we would not have proceeded with the remodeling at that time. Consequently, we decided to cancel their services.

Despite it now being February 25, they have yet to return our money. We have even hired a lawyer, but they refuse to respond to our attorney. This has led us to believe that this company may be running a scam. Furthermore, many of their employees have left, and no remodeling work has been carried out. Although we had selected and approved materials, they were never delivered.

To add insult to injury, they now expect us to pay an additional $6,000 for designing plans that we don't even have copies of, nor do we possess any signed contract. We urgently seek a resolution to this matter so that we can finally complete our project.

Hestia Construction & Design I hired Hestia Home Services, who changed their name to Hestia Construction & Design (Hestia) in October

I hired Hestia Home Services, who changed their name to Hestia Construction & Design (Hestia) in October . They were supposed to remodel my master bathroom, paint, and redo electrical work in the master bathroom and master bedroom. Hestia told me to choose the necessary products for the remodel (tile, fixtures, etc.) in October and I gave them the deposit they asked for. Months later, they told me that the tile I had chosen and paid for was not available, so I had to choose another one. The new tile I picked was approved by Hestia and they started the work on December 11. The tile on the bathroom floor was poorly installed, it's not even and flat. They call this problem "TOECATCHERS" and it can cause safety issues. The grouting on the tiles, even the straight ones, has started to flake and they say regrouting won't fix it. Hestia admitted that there are problems with the floor, but they haven't come up with a solution yet, despite promising to do something about the improperly installed tile and grout. It's now August and the project is still not finished. Due to the holidays in December and the virus starting in March, I have been patient in waiting for their solution to the problem they caused. This is not a warranty problem, it's a problem with their workmanship. I hope that by contacting them, you can help me resolve this issue.

Hestia Construction & Design On July 29, I gave Hestia Construction & Design, LLC a payment of $14,943 to renovate my kitchen

On July 29, I gave Hestia Construction & Design, LLC a payment of $14,943 to renovate my kitchen. The initial estimate was $29,886.00, but it turned out to be inaccurate. They only allocated $7,000.00 for new custom cabinets, which was the first problem. They collaborated with their own cabinet builders to devise a plan, but it exceeded the $7,000 budget. As a result, I had to sacrifice several planned renovation tasks such as painting, scraping the popcorn ceiling, and installing crown molding. The timeline they provided was absurd.

Finally, on February 1, we were supposed to commence the remodel. However, they failed to show up. They argued that I had the wrong date, but I possess an email from Hestia stating it was indeed February 1. A subcontractor arrived on February 3, but since there was no dumpster, they couldn't initiate the demolition. The dumpster arrived, I believe, on February 4, and the demolition was completed by February 6. On February 8, the subcontractor arrived to start reconstructing the kitchen, but none of the supplies that Hestia was supposed to purchase with my $14,943.00 had arrived. They claimed the supplies were on their way. I had selected the supplies in September, and they were supposedly ordered at that time. If that were true, why weren't they present at the location for the subcontractor to utilize in rebuilding the kitchen? I was informed that Hestia would never demolish a kitchen without having all the necessary supplies on-site, yet they did exactly that.

I expressed my belief to Hestia that they had deceived me, and I doubted whether they had actually placed the supply order. I sent them written notice stating that I no longer wished to work with them and demanded a refund. I acknowledged that I should compensate Hestia for the dumpster and the kitchen demolition, but nothing more. They informed me that it would take 45 days to terminate the contract and settle the accounts. However, it has been more than 45 business days, and Hestia has not responded to my emails. I kindly request your assistance in recovering my funds from Hestia Construction & Design, LLC.

Hestia Construction & Design We signed a proposal on 2/25/22 for a kitchen remodel with Hestia Construction & Design, LLC

We signed a proposal on 2/25/22 for a kitchen remodel with Hestia Construction & Design, LLC. The cost was $75,485.89. They sent us a client expectation document that mentioned an Execution Engineer would be assigned after onboarding, but that never happened. We never received a project schedule and often don't know who will be working on each phase. Their employees sometimes hire subcontractors who don't seem to know what they're doing. My husband had to redo a lot of the electrician's work. The first framer did a good job but mentioned not getting paid, which seems to be a common issue causing a high turnover of employees. They only have one employee, who I believe is called a Client Advocate, that updates us weekly on upcoming plans. However, very few of the things she says actually happen. They initially said they wouldn't start the project until all items were onsite, but they started before we had our window, door, and cabinets. We received our cabinets on 9/6/22, but some are missing. We paid extra for a kitchen layout rendering with blueprints, but their employees arrived with the wrong plan. We started the project on 6/16/22, and it's now almost October. In this time, they've only worked around 100 hours in 100 days. The plumbing is roughed in, but the framing needs corrections for the cabinets to fit. No one has been here this week, and last week someone only worked part of one day. The newest contractor assigned to us is not responding to calls or emails. We were hopeful when he was assigned because he had a crew and claimed to finish a small kitchen like ours quickly. I've emailed the owner, Hannah, multiple times but never received a response. Since we've already paid them a significant amount, we need them to complete the project.

Hestia Construction & Design Home renovation project with Hestia Construction and Design LLC began in March and is still ongoing, even though it was supposed to be

Home renovation project with Hestia Construction and Design LLC began in March and is still ongoing, even though it was supposed to be completed in May . Due to the covid pandemic, there were understandable delays. However, it has been over 500 days past the completion date, and I am left with broken cabinets that have exposed electrical wires, paint damage from improperly installed handles, various areas of property damage, and subpar workmanship in most areas that were worked on by the company. They had promised me a project manager who would be present on-site frequently to oversee the project and resolve any issues promptly. Unfortunately, none of these promises were fulfilled. In October , the company informed me that instead of fixing the numerous major issues, they would simply reconcile the project without giving me any say in the matter. Since then, the reconciliation process has been ongoing, but no progress has been made despite my providing all requested information regarding the damage and problems to the company. Here are the issues I have encountered with the project:

1. Poor-quality cabinets were installed and subsequently damaged in multiple places. The agreed-upon inserts were not installed, and the handles on the cabinets were installed incorrectly and never repaired or replaced. Additionally, the island's paint was damaged by the workers (please refer to the attached pictures).

2. The wrong medicine cabinet was installed three times, and it cannot be opened due to a broken light fixture that occurred during the installation.

3. The gas meter was improperly capped off, resulting in a significant gas leak that required the city to remove the meter.

4. The AC/heater was installed with multiple issues.

5. Despite the company's assurance that the wrong-sized island countertop would be addressed, it has not been fixed.

6. Numerous quality issues with the workmanship have been ignored and left unresolved. Other licensed professionals not affiliated with Hestia have expressed concern about these issues.

7. Holes were left in the floors when new walls were built, and I was informed that fixing them was not included in the contract.

8. Multiple requests for additional funds were made during the project, claiming that certain items were suddenly not included in the original contract.

Overall, my experience with Hestia Construction and Design LLC has been extremely disappointing. The project has been plagued by delays, poor workmanship, and a lack of accountability from the company. I would not recommend their services based on my personal experience.

Hestia Construction & Design To say it has been a nightmare contracting Hestia to complete a kitchen and bathroom remodel in my home would be an understatement

To say it has been a nightmare contracting Hestia to complete a kitchen and bathroom remodel in my home would be an understatement. I interviewed several contractors and, although Hestia presented the highest bid, their salesperson, James, sold me on the company - primarily their communications and $100/day guarantee they would credit me if they went over the agreed upon completion date, along with the experience of their Project Managers and quality of work. They didn't start on the agreed upon start date (2/10). Their office moved and I was not given updated phone numbers to contact the Project Coordinator to find out what was causing the delay. They finally did demo on 2/13 and then I saw and heard from NO ONE. My house was a mess until Countertop people finally showed up on 2/25. In the meantime, dumpster and tile deliveries were delivered to a neighbor because the Project Coordinator failed to input our correct address. This all occurred under the poor leadership from our first Project Manager, Mike. Mike ended up getting sick (and I believe fired). The countertop crew had to come out 4 - 5 times to correct the shoddy work they did on my kitchen countertop. I had bathroom countertops done also, and they did fine on those. Hestia charged me $1150 for a change order in my shower, even though the contract clearly indicated that re-centering the drain was included in their initial cost estimate. Our project completion date was 3/10. More days passed with many days of no workers showing up until Project Manager #2, Rudy showed up. Even then, no workers showed up until 3/24, which was past our completion date with a lot of work still to be done. Rudy began not responding to texts or phone calls and quit Hestia on 4/10. Enter Project Manager #3, Stephanie on 4/14. I, again, had to show her the things which had not been completed and the shower door still had not been delivered. I also advised I had complained about being charged for the change order for the re-centered drain. Workers finally completed all the work on 4/18. Since then, I have been trying to get all the financials completed. Hestia owed me for the unnecessary change order and we had to finalize where I went over/under the projected budget. After innumerable phone calls and texts, I finally received an email from Melissa on 5/13 indicating they were crediting me with $1228.04. I emailed Melissa back and requested an itemized list with what this covered. She never responded. Stephanie finally showed up on 5/18 so we could review how they came up with the $1228.04 refund, and to look at an issue with scratches in my new sink, clogged holes in the shower head, and a small rough area on the shower door which didn't get enough silicone on it. Stephanie advised me she had come up with the numbers with Melissa. $1150 credit for the change order (they finally admitted I was right) and $453.72 credit for tile that was returned. Then she told me I owed them $315.60 balance from the original agreed upon price. I showed her where I had written a check for over $500.00 to Hestia at the beginning of the project, which James (the salesman) told me would cover the balance of the project which had not been approved for financing. I then told her James had called me the day after I wrote them the check and signed the contract, saying he and Melissa had made an error and I actually owed them a little more but since I had already written them a check, I wouldn't need to do anything else and Hestia would absorb the cost of the error. I told all this to Stephanie and vehemently denied owing them any additional money. I also told her Hestia went WAY over their projected completion date and owed me $100/day per their contract. She estimated the project went 34 days over. Also, after reviewing my over/under project numbers, Hestie owes me $7.82. Since my last meeting with Stephanie, I have not been listened to regarding the credit Hestia needs to give me. It appears Hestia thinks I will roll over and let this go away, but I am standing up for my rights. Also, the guy who did my tile has called me several times to see if I have contact information since he hasn't been paid for all the work he did here (backsplash, flooring, bathroom shower tile). I gave him Stephanie's phone number but he said she hasn't returned his phone calls. I am beyond disgusted with their lack of ethics, poor business practices, failure to honor their $100/day credit, failure to pay a worker, and horrific communication. No one seems to want to make this situation right. I am fed up trying to give them the opportunity to rectify this situation. If I were to grade my experience with this company, it would break down like this: Quality of tile work - A Quality of countertop work - C- because of the # of times they had to come back and fix shoddy work Quality of shower tile work and shower glass installation - A Quality of communication - F Quality of customer service - D- Quality of paying attention to detail - D-

Hestia Construction & Design Where do I even begin?

Where do I even begin? So, we had some serious water damage in our kitchen, dining, and utility rooms, thanks to a flooded hot water heater on May 8. We met with this guy named Lee from Hestia Construction, LLC in early June to talk about the work we needed to get done. We wanted to fix the damage covered by insurance and also spruce up our living room by removing the popcorn ceiling, creating a new walkway into the kitchen, and getting new flooring for the hall, bedrooms, and closets. Lee got fired in June, and this other guy named Jesse took over. He did a walk-through and said everything would be fine on June 23. But boy, was he wrong!

We signed a contract on August 19, and paid $14,042 upfront for materials and to get the project started. But then we had to keep negotiating about what work would actually be done. They added some extra stuff that wasn't covered by insurance, and we ended up paying $14,300.87 for those changes. We thought they had ordered everything, but it seemed like they were always waiting on some small thing before they could start. We had to bug them to give us a start date. Finally, on January 25, they began working, with a promised completion date of March 3. But guess what? It's April 4, and our project still isn't finished, and we can't even move back into our house. We've had five project managers so far, and they keep missing deadlines. We've paid them almost all the money, but they haven't done 90% of the work. And the work they have done is incomplete, late, and full of mistakes. It's like nobody knows what they're doing!

We're supposed to have workers there from Monday to Friday, 8-5, and sometimes on Saturdays if needed. But we hardly ever see anyone during those hours. At this rate, it might be 2022 before my house is finally done! Dealing with Hestia has been a huge disappointment. Honestly, it's been a disaster! Some of the vendors and subcontractors have even come to us saying they haven't been paid. It's a mess. Let me give you a couple of examples of their cheapness: First, they said they would take care of getting the granite countertop from start to finish, but they ended up buying the slab from one vendor and having someone else cut and install it. The edges weren't what I wanted, but they said fixing it would risk damaging the countertop. The original vendor said they wouldn't provide a warranty unless they ripped out the granite and did it all over again. So, I had to settle for the wrong edges and no warranty. The vendor they used doesn't want to come back and fix a simple mistake that's preventing the stove from being installed unless I pay them. Second, the electrician and Hestia are arguing over who should pay to fix some electrical work that wasn't done right. We already paid extra to reroute some electrical stuff, and now they're fighting over who should fix the rest. The electrician won't do anything until he gets paid. It's a mess.

Right now, we're stuck with an unfinished and shoddy job, and the lack of communication is causing even more expensive mistakes. For example, they pulled out the water heater on March 25 to fix the drywall, but as of now, no plumbers have come to reinstall it or do any other plumbing work. They were supposed to be here on April 2, but nobody showed up. And then there's the back door. I kept telling them it wasn't a standard size, but they insisted they could cut it down to fit. When it arrived, I checked with the manufacturer, and they said cutting it would void the warranty. They said we could return it and get a custom door for just $100 more. I told our project managers, Ashley and Jerry, that I only wanted the manufacturer to handle the door. But on April 1, I found out that Jerry had told the subcontractor to cut the door and hang it. I was furious! Jerry apologized and said he knew I wanted it done right, but he messed up. We're so fed up with Hestia that we want to file a strong complaint with the ComplaintsBoard.com and hope that gets us some satisfaction. And before we pay them another dime, we want a notarized Lien Release.
