MidAmerica Basement Systems Terrible customer service!

Terrible customer service! Once they get your money, they're done with you. The flooring they installed collapsed. We've contacted them several times. Each time there was an excuse - the service manager is on vacation, the service manager is out of the office on a service call, we're waiting to hear from the manufacturer, all we can do is wait at this time, etc. I would give them a negative star rating if it were available.

In May , Mid America Basement Systems put in encapsulate in our crawlspace and radon mitigation. Troy *** was the salesperson, and he took the time to fully explain the process. Brandon, Tajaun, and Miguel put in the encapsulate and were real nice and professional. Scottie and Bill put in the radon mitigation and were real professional too. Both teams cleaned up the area when they were done, explained what they did, and asked if we had any questions. We were real impressed with this company and would recommend them to anyone needing radon mitigation.

MidAmerica Basement Systems In March , we had a lot of work done by MidAmerica Basement Systems

In March , we had a lot of work done by MidAmerica Basement Systems. They did stuff like crawl space encapsulation, smart jacks, downspots, and they even removed over 60 containers of junk from our crawl space. They also added sump pumps and dug several discharge lines. Chris was the guy who sold us on their services, and his crew was really great. The workers were here for a whole 5 days, and they were always on time, polite, and worked really hard. Dillion, the team leader, was super helpful in explaining everything to us and giving us options if we wanted to change things. They've also been really good about coming back to make a few small adjustments. Chris is a really nice and trustworthy guy. Thanks a bunch!

I gotta give a big shout out to the whole crew at MidAmerica Basement (Davenport, IA)! From the fancy welcome packet to the final result! Every person at MidAmerica Basement (Davenport, IA) has played a part in easing all my worries. Even the ladies who answered my calls were super awesome! The guys working on my basement waterproofing project were real pros - they knew their stuff, were polite, and made me feel welcome. I could walk around and check things out without feeling like I was getting in their way. They answered all my questions and explained everything real good. Thanks a bunch to Mr. "Seal the Deal" Chris, Mr. "Satisfaction Guaranteed" Sam, Mr. "Get er Done" Guy, Mr. "Just Amazing" Jason, and Mr. "Always Amiable & Amusing" Alex. I just wanna say I really appreciate all of you! You guys delivered everything I asked for, 100%! Keep up the awesome work!

MidAmerica Basement Systems I'm so mad at this company

I'm so mad at this company. I got a house for my daughter to live in while she's at college. The dang basement keeps getting water in it. I went on Angi to find some waterproofing companies, and MidAmerica Basement Systems called me to give me a free quote. But get this, they said I had to be at the house for the appointment. I told them I live 5 hours away and my 21-year-old daughter could FaceTime me during the appointment. But nope, that ain't good enough for them. They got this "company policy" that says the owner has to be there. I talked to the first person, and she didn't even try to help. She just transferred me to the manager, who acted like she didn't know why I was calling. I told her again that I live 5 hours away and can't be there, but we could use FaceTime. Nope, they said no again. They didn't even try to find a solution. They didn't want my business at all. I bet I'm not the only one who lives far away and has this problem. It's 2021, for crying out loud, and we're in a pandemic. Why can't they do FaceTime? It's so frustrating and confusing. The customer service I got from all the different employees was just sad. I'll never use them after this.

MidAmerica Basement Systems I called MidAmBS 'cause my basement had water

I called MidAmBS 'cause my basement had water. Troy, the salesman, walked through with me and talked about a solution. He mentioned a pump with a battery backup. After assessing, he said I needed watergaurd and super sump plus for $9700+. It took four months and a reschedule for them to come. The crew did a good job, but during the walkthrough, I noticed no battery backup. The foreman checked the contract and said super sump plus didn't include it. I was upset 'cause that's what I was told. Troy never mentioned other options. I complained to the office and a manager, but they said I got what I paid for. They wanted $1300 more for a backup. Smh. They told us not to move anything for 7 days after pouring concrete, so we stayed out of the basement. When we went down to clean, we found things missing. They took my fiancé's drill and my previous sump pump. It was only a year old and cost $300. They never asked if I wanted anything removed. I called and texted the foreman and the office, but it took 3 days to speak to a manager. They offered $100 for my stolen pump and said it's their normal practice. They take old equipment when installing new ones, and no one complained before. That sounds shady and crazy. I paid almost $10000 and didn't get what I was promised. They took my things too. It's not right. I'm in my mid thirties and never felt so cheated. THESE PEOPLE ARE SHADY. I shouldn't have to pay full price, installation fees, and lose money on my pump.

I had a grate experience with MidAmerica Basement Systems & highly recommend them if your having any waterproofing needs.

My project:
I bought my home 3.5 years ago & it started getting water in the basement last year after the outside drainage & tiling system put in my previous owners failed miserably. It would literally be full days of pumping water out of multiple locations in my basement. There were issues of moisture even with two dehumidifiers running & subfloors the crew took out & cleaned up after as well.

Scheduling:
They will schedule a ways out for appointments but only because it's a high demand working system. Others may be able to offer services quicker but there is likely a reason they are not busy. I got several bids in the time I waited for my MidAmerica Basement Systems appointment & encourage you to as well but definitely wait until after your appointment to make a decision. They were not the cheapest but had the best guarantee (100%), best working system, and a few things I've learned in my 20 years of homeownership is if you go cheap & need to redo it your typically spending more than if you did it right the first time & your home is not something to skimp on or take chances.

MidAmerica Basement Systems will send you detailed emails as to what you can expect for each appointment. They will mail you a packet of information regarding different systems that work vs fail & throughly explain the dangers & hazards water/moisture in your home will cause. Our basement got so bad from the Derecho the only dry place was in our basement was the shower & my celing developed black mold quickly from the moisture. Not only did they offer a system to waterproof my basement but a whole house dehumidifier & air purifier which would have saved my ceiling if I had earlier.

Sales:
I had Justin A for sales & he was very thorough in listening to my problems & needs as well as took his time in explaining & showing me how they could fix my issues, how the system works, as well as answering all of my questions with detail & no hurry. He was absolutely great about changes I made in adding work later on (before my appointment) as well. He doesn't make it feel like a sales pitch, is not pushy at all, & really works to get you the most work in your budget (prep & finish work offered), as well as taking his time with you through the entire process.

The office crew:
The office staff was very polite & helpful. I mostly worked with Desiree S & *** B who are extremely responsive in working with me.

The Crew:
My crew consisted of Brandon T, Sam G, & Ethan T who I highly recommend! These young men are the exact type you want on your project! They are polite, respectful, hard working, efficient, trust worthy & have a great work ethic! They not only got the job done in the time allotted but left my basement incredibly clean which I didn't expect. They thoroughly go over the work before & after as well as answer any questions you have along the way & explain in detail any changes if something isn't to plan before just doing something differently. They called before heading to my house as well which I thought was very courteous. I imagine they have a lot of great workers but anyone I know that I send their way, I'll have them ask for these men as the crew on their home.

Overall:
Overall I give them 5 stars & they earned it all the way.
I will say it's winter so not when one typically gets water in their basement so *I am unable to review how the system actually works fairly. I do, however, plan to leave another review after we get some lovely wet Iowa spring weather or melting of our snow mountains to test it out. I don't expect my review to change & feel confident in the upcoming months & years.

MidAmerica Basement Systems Had them come to fix a crack in the basement wall that leaked

Had them come to fix a crack in the basement wall that leaked. They drilled lots of holes and put in urethane foam. Still leaks after a second visit, even though they tried twice to fix it. Then they just brushed it off and said the house was settling. Paid 700 bucks and got nothing!

MidAmerica did sum work on our basement to include raising the floor using plastic squares to help with the waterproofing and warmth of our basement. They also put in square carpet pieces. The issue is the carpet pieces are ripped up and the plastic pieces underneath the carpet are broke causing a safety hazard. We have made numerous attempts to resolve and keep getting the run around. This has been going on for several months with no return calls or attempt at resolution. Their only answer provided is the manager is on vacation and waiting for manufacturer to get back with them on the warranty. I want other customers to know they do not back their product!

MidAmerica Basement Systems I hired this company to install 5 braces, downspouts, and raise the patio

I hired this company to install 5 braces, downspouts, and raise the patio. They never contacted me to schedule a time and didn't come out before the job. My son had to take the day off and I had to call them. Originally, I called for sales to raise the patio, but they suggested bracing the walls instead. I already had a dewatering system installed by Pivotal in 2020. We thoroughly discussed and added to the contract that they should not touch the dewatering system. It was supposed to be attached from the top of the wall and along it, and this was clearly written on the foreman's sheet. They were late and left without saying anything. My son told them to use the side door of the garage after they brought in the materials. He closed it and left around 3 or 3:45. The worker closed it as soon as he saw me pull in. They didn't bury the downspouts, left the lights on, doors open, and didn't clean up. They also broke through the dewatering system and added concrete and braces, even though the contract stated not to touch it. This was a $9,000 system with a lifetime warranty, but not anymore! They never contacted me until I left a review. I put their braces out for them to pick up.

Mid America Basement was hired to move and bury 4 drain lines. I had to supervise the project for my 86-year-old mom. The stuff we saw from the salesman wasn't the same as what they used on site. The materials and the work quality were below par. The work crews talked badly about their co-workers to us. They complained about not having good equipment. The company had to send another crew to finish what the first crew started, but they cracked our sidewalk and did a bad job fixing it. It was nothing like what the salesperson promised. When we tried to get a solution, nobody called or texted us. Nobody is taking responsibility for the shoddy work. One worker told us that 5 of their best guys left the company right before our job started... that wasn't in their sales brochure! They're selling services that they don't seem to have the skilled staff to complete professionally and on time. Now we're waiting for them to review the poor work (been waiting since May 26th) and get back to us with a fair solution.
