Two weeks ago I purchased an HP printer, described above; I purchased it specifically for both the price and the fact that the printed was listed as an all purpose color printer. The features both in the advertisement of the printer and in the under welling instruction manual that accompanied the printer. The instructions suggested the printer could be connected wirelessly to my computer by simply pushing certain keys on the printer and it would be connected. After attempting that method for 1/2 hour with no results, the printer finally printed out a message directing me to download an app called the HP Smart, which is required in order to connect the printer and the computer. Each attempt to connect the printer and computer resulted in the printer printing out a document called the Wireless Quick Start Guide. Again after several attempts and being shunted to an agreement to sign up for print ink [the first 30 days being free, but limited to 50 sheets per month] it finally allowed me to print the ink agreement and 1 letter from my computer. Following that short working process, when I then attempted to print a second document from my printer, the printer was reported as "not connected, off line. I was unable to get any instructions on how to get the printer back online, although I did receive messages through my computer that the printer was "ready" to print. It does not print from any source except constantly printing copy after copy of the Wireless Quick Start Guide, which when followed would not put the printer into a mode to print anything. The printer now sits there useless. In following the instructions carefully, it has used all of the initial ink supply and that a resupply was on its way. So I have used a full month's supply of ink .
Finally I received message, on screen, not printed, advising me that if I wanted to use the scanning, email or faxing, that there is a choice of an additional charge, monthly or lifetime. Never was told there was an extra charge in the adverisement etc. False advertising
Claimed loss: My loss is the purchase prince, shipping cost and the cost of the wasted ink and the use of more than a ream of paper
Desired outcome: A total refund of the cost of the printer, the ink, and the ream of paper and that HP stop packaging/selling the product without advising the customer of the extra charges for what was supposed to be included in the purchase
