I didn't realize I had booked a hotel night through Advanced Purchase, which means nonrefundable. Having called weeks in advance to cancel, i was informed that I needed to speak to a special department who would put in a case for me due to circumstances - I was moving and had canceled my trip.
I never got an email, case number, information about the rules regarding switching the reservation, and was told the request had gone through. No one ever followed up with me, despite noting that they had. Now it's 2 days before the reservation, and the Advanced Purchase team said there's no way to cancel, nothing they can do, I missed this 3 day deadline for even switching the reservation (which NO one told me about!), and the rep I spoke to told me she has a boss, but they have no phone number or email address - imagine that!
So you can only get a refund through this one department, they can't actually refund anything past a 24 hour period, and they magically have no bosses you can talk to. You don't get any emails from them either or have a paper record. You're just out of luck.
I had no idea I was booking through this, and after hours of calls and talking to tons of people, haven't gotten a refund of my less than $200 one night reservation. I'll literally never stay in a Hilton again over this.
Claimed loss: $183
Desired outcome: Full refund.
