Poorly built trailer
Was told my trailer has a 3500lb axle, was told the trailer would hold 2900lbs. Put my 1700lb side by side on it and every bump I hit, the axle hits the frame! Went back to Mr Bernstein in Washburn, he tried to blame me for overloading the trailer and bending the axles so he told me to take another trailer that he said was new and it had a bent gate, couldn't latch one side. Also had a bent cross member that I noticed when I got home. Tried to load my side by side and it bottomed out axle to frame. I let him know and he said he would build another trailer with shackles instead of his new slide design on the leaf spring. Went today to pick it up and the new one still had the SAME design except he added a 1/2in spacer. I know in the future that hauling my side by side, I will end up with a bent axle! 6 1/2x14 single axle.
Desired outcome: New trailer, as promised, with old shackle design that will properly and safely transport the advertised weight.
6.5x14 Dual Axle Utility
Received this build within a week of ordering. Was shaking terrible and too rail was curved in. Cross member was over bogi system not allowing system to work correctly. Took 2.5 months and multiple phone calls to get it re built. Got it back with only one brake axle(ordered it originally on both). Was so tired of messing with this POS cheap trailer making company. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. I will be making sure nobody that I know buys from this company. You will regret it.
I bought this 8' x 16'
Hurst Trailer back in 2011 through a Mahindra Tractor Dealer to haul a 3500 lbs. tractor & I just got pulled over in VA. By D.O.T. for no license plate light and improper Trailer tongue setup . . .
Seems like Hurst Trailer has installed a Gross Maximum Weight #2000 lbs. rated 1 -7/8 inch ball & tongue onto a GMW #7000 lbs. rated trailer ! ! !
DUH what the Hell were they thinking ? ? ?
I've heard of REVERSE ENGINEERING but damn this takes the cake ! ! !
And Guess What . . . I get stuck with the $1200 fine for THEIR " ****ed " up THINKING ! ! !
Sincerely, S.N.A.F.U.
trailers are junk
Waited 3 months for the '2 weeks' that it would take to build the 24, 000 lb gvw trailer we ordered, when it finally arrived it was very quickly and obviously a poorly constructed trailer with horrible craftsmanship. If we hadn't already sold the trailer we had previously we would have sent it straight back but we were in bad need of a trailer so we elected to take a chance on it, big mistake. All of the cuts that were made were obviously done with a torch and not so steady hand and were not ground smooth whatsoever, there are several huge gaps that are filled with rebar to close the gap and several pieces look like they were scrap pieces from another build. The paint was still dripping and there were runs everywhere. The ramp treads are sunken too far inside of their frame so track machines only make contact with the slick side of the metal making it a nightmare to load if it is wet or muddy. The passenger side of the trailer is permanently bowed down from the front to back and the wood does not stay at a consistent height with the metal band on the outside. When the trailer was 3 months old the studs on the back axle broke sending both wheels careening down the interstate at 60 mph with a 16000 lb excavator in tow. The repair and tow bill for the incident was just under 1000 dollars and when we contacted the owner he told us we would be reimbursed. We received a check for 200 dollars and after emails, texts, faxes and phone calls heard nothing else. Bernstein, the owner is a liar, cheat and a terrible businessman that will tell you exactly what you want to hear with absolutely no intentions of following through. There is a reason his trailers are 2 to 3 thousand dollars cheaper than most other manufacturers, you get what you pay for. We will never do business with HURST Trailers again and I would not recommend them to anyone.

Trailer will not pass DOT inspection, Etc.
I called on the 21st of April, 2009, and spoke with Mr. Bernstein Hurst about making me a new trailer. We talked about a 18' fender trailer with a 2' dovetail, with two 7k# axles with fold up ramps, rub rail, 8" channel frame and tongue. Also with adjustable 2 5/16 hitch and 10k# jack, and all DOT required lighting. I ordered a trailer from this company on...
