If you are pc or internet challenged, get someone who can help you
If you are pc or internet challenged, get someone who can help you. Otherwise, it's really easy and fast. Note: I you are using your desktop you will be interacting on the pc and your smartphone at the same time. So don't close out your browser (this is if you are on a pc instead of just your smartphone). And, enable your camera and microphone through your antivirus software. Watch for little messages that will help you establish a video call. You don't have to download a special app or at least I didn't. I'm running the latest version of Chrome. My side of the call was very echoey if that's a word. I don't know which side it was on. But the call only lasted a couple of minutes. I know this new technology will drive some people crazy but hang in there. Compared to the old way, I like it.
Just because it's connected to the government doesn't automatically mean it's not good
Just because it's connected to the government doesn't automatically mean it's not good. Of course it wasn't something that I wanted to do, BUT if it's something you have to do then consider the effort that went into trying to make it more accommodating. It wasn't like you had to brush your teeth with a wire brush, it's something that is needed to add that extra layer of protection in a world that needs protecting. You and your future are worth protecting, right? Give credit where credit is due. If you're still worried, sit back and keep an eye on the shifty neighbors kid that's playing that strange music all hours of the night. And coming and going with weirder looking kids them himself. Wait, wasn't that you back in the sixties? Yeah, it was, wasn't it? How do I know? I was one of your weirder friends.
Much faster than mailing anything
Much faster than mailing anything. This is the future ! Fast convenient and secure. It uses multiple steps to verify identity and gets you access to what you need to because of it. For me that was the IRS website. I made a new account and it was all done within 12 minutes or so. It seems very impossible for identify theft to happen with all of their measures including the very cool facial scanning through video selfie. I will use this again in the future if I know what other applications it can be used for. You only get one identity in life and it should be secured. I trust this company in doing that and it is a great business idea. 5 stars easily for the hassle free online experience in the late hours of the night when other businesses are closed. Again, this is the future. Online 24/7 smart phone accessable interface.
I had an issue with IRS website where it would not allow me to upload my license picture
I had an issue with IRS website where it would not allow me to upload my license picture. I tried it a few ways , tried the chat, and ended up emailing the customer service site. I got a quick response telling me how to try it again, did that and then followed their direction from email where to contact them if it did not work. I got a specific person to contact in that email( the rep name) who then provided further direction. Tried again, did not work, and he sent me a list of questions to answer. I did and again he stayed as my contact as we tried 2 more things. He finally sent me a link which worked and i got the process completed. While this was not easy I was satisfied to have a consistent person with ongoing support that did NOT change, did not hand me back to the beginning to start over which often happens . It was ultimately resolved and I was pleased with that. GIven all the complaints i read about i was very happy to have the help and speed of response time given my timeframe was over the tax date period.
The process is very point by point specific - as it should be to validate you to the IRS accounts system
The process is very point by point specific - as it should be to validate you to the IRS accounts system. And the advertised 5 to 15 minutes process was accurate, unlike some of the other reviews I checked out. I started the process on a PC web session and was popped over to my iPhone to grab state ID pix, and it picked right back up on the PC session… a bit tedious and exacting, but following all the steps exactly allowed me to connect to my IRS account within that 15 minutes to start resolving an issue tracking payments to the IRS. I can recommend the automated ID.me process if you have a smartphone and some patience… I had earlier called the IRS toll free number and after a half hour wait got a live person, then needed a second person to help with this issue and heard the message about setting up your account online, after waiting for another half hour and still on hold… I decided to try it out. the online process ended up being faster, easier and got me to the information I needed quicker than waiting on a live person.
IRS.GOV forcing to go through ID
IRS.GOV forcing to go through ID.me. I had an acct and now hum not there. I did all that was need for ID.ME there web.cam connection is BS doesn't connect. Then after uploading everything was almost a 2 hour wait for a video chat. Then ID.me logs you out over and over which you have to over and over request have a code text to you enter to get back in que yet again. So you lose your spot. If ID. Me doesn't have enough people to help then they should update date there app not to log you out when your on hold waiting. Doesn't even ask if your still there, but that be a bad idea if you look away, since you know your on a 2 hour wait sucking up your battery time. I'm not paid for my lost time having to repeatedly get back in que. Just unreal Gov uses this for many websites. My other Gov websites no issues yet, but IRS isn't taking user ID sign in before they added ID.me. So at this point i still haven't gotten help, and I need a document from IRS ASAP, for help and this has delayed. Where do i send my bill for my waiting time over and over again cause being kicked out.
Waste of time
I feel like it's a waste of time to even write this review. I was surprised to learn when I went to check my status of my refund that I needed to upload documents to this website to verify my ID after collecting my biometric data and uploading all personal documents I was told that I had an account I obviously do not I've spent the last two weeks trying to contact support to get into my account only to be told that someone will get to me when they have time I have literally found them on every platform possible just to be ignored looks like I'm not the only one
A frustrating nightmare making edd a horrible experience
This platform has been a colossal failure and a time consuming terrible experience. The EDD has forced this platform as a part of the verification process and so it needs to make sure the system is reliable. Especially because customers are already dealing with Job Loss or Medical Leave issues and don't need this additional stress especially when dealing with important government imposed deadlines. There is absolutely no way of contacting customer support. Voice mails and emails go into a black hole. Government should drop them and research more efficient methods of verification.
Recommendation: You have no choice but to leave voice mails and send emails and hope that you hear back. I guess maybe making complaints to local government to stop using them will ligth a fire and get them to provide customer support.
ID.me's Incompetence Cost Me My Disability Claim: A Two-Year Nightmare
I had a disability claim to file in 2020 and the Social Security Administration (SSA) asked for verification and information from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). I tried to log into the IRS website but was told that I needed to log into ID.me to verify my identity. I already had an account with ID.me, so I thought it would be no problem. However, when I used my login and password, the multi-factor authentication (MFA) screen came up and said that my phone number had transferred ownership, which was not true. I tried to contact them through their website messenger, but it was only automated. I then looked for a contact number, but the one I found was disconnected. I opened a ticket and waited for three months before receiving an email that apologized for the delay and said that someone would reply when possible. Two more months passed before I received another email that told me to change my personal details and linked a help topic that said to click on a link on the MFA screen to update my details. However, the link was not on my screen. I took a screenshot and sent it to them. One month later, a different agent replied with the same steps. I emailed the screenshot again with a statement about the issues with the steps not being available. A couple of weeks later, I received a message that they were closing my ticket. I emailed back, and they sent me the previous steps again. This went on for a while, and eventually, they said that they would have to resubmit my credentials, including my ID and phone number. I did as they asked, and they said that they would escalate the ticket. However, they ended up closing my ticket in November 2021. I submitted another ticket in December 2021, and they finally replied in February, telling me to go through the same steps again. I told them that I had tried, but the link was not present. They told me to submit my documents via email, which I did. Two weeks later, the ticket was being closed with no resolution. I emailed back and was told to resubmit my information. As of 3/8/2022, I am still waiting for a resolution, nearly two years since originally requesting help. I am already seeking a lawyer as I have been denied disability, and the time has lapsed to appeal or resubmit. After having a stroke and shunt placement with uncontrollable frequent seizures, I believe that this company should be disbanded. In my experience, it is useless and a waste of time and money.
Thrilling and Heartwarming: A Review of The Hunger Games Trilogy
ID.me has convinced many government agencies and venture capitalist that it can provide valuable security services. However, its management has not committed the capital, engineering expertise or personnel to scale its services. Its AI software struggled to read images, requiring multiple uploads to secure the required two forms of ID. The virtual waiting room to meet with a human referee is probably the worst part of the user experience. The only thing you are told is that if you leave or get disconnected, you go to the end of the line. There is a "estimated wait time" clock that starts at about 2.2 hours. It's misleading in that it may move up or down, and hover at different points for hours as seen in images. My total wait time was 12 hours (8 am to 8:30 pm PST) with the last 20 minutes on the estimated wait time clock taking about four hours in real time. At the 15 minute mark on the estimated wait time clock, a silent button popped up asking if I was still there. I had been waiting for 7-8 hours at this point, and happened to look down in time to select it. If failure to select the button would have meant being disconnected, it would have been nice if there as an alarm or tone with the popup. When I reached the front of the line, a link to the meeting room popped up for a second and then disappeared. The waiting room screen froze and crashed. However, I received a phone call from the referee who advised he sent me a text and email with a link to the video conference. The video meeting software was not uploading on my iphone 12 or XPS desktop running Windows 10. The referee and I were able to complete the conference on Zoom that took about 10 minutes after a 12 hour wait... The referee was very professional, patient and helpful.
Web security is important, but ID.me seems to be struggling with the execution of its contracts. Perhaps it has grown too big too fast. It would be appropriate for the government agencies and their respective attorney general using their services to meet with ID.me to see if it can handle the work and express the importance citizens getting access to their agencies without unreasonable delay. ID.me wants a big IPO, but its needs to address the user experience for its products.
Mixed Experience with ID.me: A Review of the Account Setup and Document Verification Process
I gotta say, my experience with ID.me was not the best. I was trying to set up my account so I could get into the irs.gov website, but it was a real pain in the butt. I had to keep going back and forth, trying to remember old accounts and verifying all kinds of stuff. It was a real headache, let me tell you. But I managed to get through it all, thanks to having all the right documents and taking my time with everything.
The worst part was definitely the scheduling for my document verification interview. At first, they told me I only had to wait a few minutes, but then when I logged in later, my wait time had jumped up to 40 minutes! And it kept changing every couple of minutes, so I never knew when I was actually going to get in. And then, when I finally did get in, I had to keep jumping up to grab my documents every time they asked me if I was ready. It was a real pain.
But then, finally, I got to the verification part, where I had to show my documents to an agent. And let me tell you, that was the best part of the whole experience. The agent I got was super nice and patient, and he even made me laugh a few times. It was a real relief after all the stress I'd been through. And it only took a few minutes to get everything done.
After that, I was able to log into the IRS website and download all the info I needed. And I gotta say, it's way better than it used to be a few years ago. So even though the whole process was a real pain, I'm glad I stuck with it and got everything done. And I'm especially grateful to the agent who made it all bearable. Thanks, ID.me!
ID.me's Incompetence is Affecting Millions of Americans During the Pandemic
So, I had a similar issue with ID.me, but it's also a bit different. I was able to verify myself as a veteran and through my state, so I thought everything was good to go. But then, on March 21st, my account got put on hold pending verification. What's the issue, you ask? Well, it's nothing out of the ordinary. I simply moved to a different, more affordable apartment just 5 minutes down the road from my previous address. But apparently, that's enough to put my account on hold.
I spoke with the FRAUD department (yes, FRAUD!) and they told me all I had to do was show proof of residence for my new address. So, I uploaded my utility bills and my new lease, just like they told me to. That was on March 28th. But it's now April 22nd and I'm still unverified. My account is still on hold. I haven't received any benefits since March 21st and I can't get in contact with ID.me at all. I've submitted dozens of tickets and received zero replies or correspondence. Their help section is useless and has no valuable information about how to change your physical address if you move. You can't get in touch with anyone, anywhere, ever. It's ridiculous.
The state agency says they can see my documents that have been uploaded and everything looks okay, but there's nothing more I can do on my end. The state agency and ID.me just have to work the process. They tell me to call every Monday and Friday to check the process, but that's not helpful at all. It's just frustrating.
Hundreds of thousands, even millions of good, everyday, hardworking Americans are affected by this pandemic and they're being affected by the incompetence of this company. You're putting millions of families and citizens in a precarious position to catch a negligible amount of potential fraudsters by comparison. And the worst part is there's no help, no recourse, no compassion, or end in sight for people like myself and others across the country being affected by this unnecessary, illogical, arbitrary, incompetent, sham of a company.
This is mind-numbingly frustrating and the American people deserve better, especially in a time like this.
My Experience with ID.me: A Rollercoaster of Emotions and Frustration
I recently had an experience with ID.me and it was quite a journey. I must say, it was a rollercoaster of emotions. After sitting at my desk for almost 14 hours, I was finally approved at 7pm, 13 hours later. It was a long and tiring process, but I learned a few tips that I would like to share with you.
Firstly, it is important to remain calm. I must admit, I lost my cool and threw my phone against the wall after the first video call and the agent hung up on me. It turned out that I did not have camera permissions on via Google, and the agent could hear me but not see me. It only took me 20 seconds or less to fix the camera issue, but by then, he had already hung up. Hence the broken cell phone. So, my first tip is to have your camera ready!
Secondly, refresh your page. It will give you real-time as far as waiting. Today was my second time trying, and the wait was stated as 5 hours. After refreshing a few times, the wait time changed to 2.5 hours, and pretty soon, I was only waiting about 45 minutes until the screen read 1 minute. The video verification took all of 4 or 5 minutes.
Thirdly, make sure your computer, laptop, or tablet accepts cookies. This is important as it can cause delays in the verification process.
Fourthly, I found emailing them to be useless, but eventually, Jakob the agent told me that I closed the browser and I did not realize to leave it open and wait for an additional step. Go figure.
Fifthly, try early in the morning or like some have said at 3 am. I could not get past 1 am because I like sleeping, but for you night owls, go for it.
Lastly, I may be approved on this side, but because I was denied unemployment due to a ridiculous error, I lost my bid last week for unemployment and had to appeal. That was on Tuesday. I now have to wait to call unemployment on Monday and see if we can proceed without going through the appeal process seeing as how my ID has been verified. And of course, it's Friday today, so I have no choice but to wait. I will have been going at this for 5 weeks next weekend. WHAT IN DEEP HELL?
Overall, my experience with ID.me was not the best. I lost my bid to receive unemployment in MA over a small error that no one told me about until about 3 damn weeks later. Because of their ridiculous and inept services, I had to appeal the decision from the department of unemployment. And btw, my ID is fine, it's legitimate, and it is not even close to expiring. In fact, I have two valid IDs. Unbelievable.
I sent 4 emails asking for help and a solution, and I just received one about a week ago. Now I have been online sitting here like a [censored] for days and hours waiting for a video call confirmation. This morning I was up at 530 am. I went to shower, and within those 6 minutes, I missed my video call. Are you fuc#$ng kidding me?! Now I'm back in line with a 5-hour wait. I had an appointment this afternoon that I am going to have to cancel because I can just sit around all day waiting for a $#*!ty company to do their job.
This is my rent, my bills, my health we are dealing with here. I have filed a consumer complaint with the Attorney General of MA, Maura Healey. ID.me is the worst company I have ever dealt with in my life. Good luck to everyone, and if you have any questions, feel free to message me.
I hope my tips and experience can help you in some way. Remember to remain calm and patient, and hopefully, you will have a better experience than I did.
ID.me System Review: Frustrating and Unreliable for EDD Online Services
This ID.me system is just terrible, man. It's like they want you to waste all your time and get super frustrated. I had to log in like a million times, it was so repetitive. And then, when I finally got to the part where I had to use my webcam to show my ID, it was a total disaster. The stupid thing couldn't even capture a decent image, so I had to switch to a different device. But even then, the camera was all messed up and the exposure was way too high, so everything was super shiny and I couldn't even read my own passport. It was like trying to take a picture of a mirror or something, you know what I mean?
Anyway, the agent on the other end was nice enough, but even she couldn't get the stupid thing to work. She told me to try using my phone instead, but that was just as bad. The camera on my phone is supposed to be really good, but the system couldn't even use it properly. I had to hold my documents like two inches away from the camera just to get them to show up, and even then there was a big shadow across half of the image. It was a total nightmare.
And the worst part is, this whole stupid process was only necessary because the face-recognition software doesn't work at all. Like, seriously? What kind of garbage system is this? And now they're making everyone use it just to access EDD online services? That's just wrong, man. It's like they're trying to force us to use this broken system, even though it's clearly not ready for prime time.
I mean, I'm not a total idiot, you know? I have a degree in IT and I've worked in customer service and tech support for years. But even I had a hard time with this thing. It's just not user-friendly at all, and it's a huge step backwards for EDD. They used to have a perfectly good system, but now they're making us use this garbage. It's just not right.
ID.me: A Terrible Experience for Unemployment Verification - My $7,100 Lost Benefits Story
I have had a terrible experience with ID.me. My state requires that we use this service to verify unemployment, but I have not received an unemployment check in 6 weeks due to their horrible services. First, it would not take my ID, and when it finally did, it would not accept my selfie. Seriously, a selfie is the only way they can think of to use their service? If I had a choice, I would not use it.
My advice to anyone having issues with this company is to call Senator Mike Crapo's office and Congressman Fultcher's office. They have already received hundreds of complaints. This company does not care if you ever get your unemployment. They get paid whether they help you or not. I have been unable to collect my unemployment because this so-called company does not do their job and cannot reply to requests for help.
I wonder if they want to pay for everyone's unemployment themselves? They should at this point. Also, contact your State Attorney General's office and file for fraudulent business practices. Then call your State Governor and make sure their office knows what they are paying for. All of this will help to get your money one way or the other.
At this point, ID.me owes me around $7,100 in benefits lost to me and my family. I am still counting and will one way or another get paid what I am owed. By the way, ID.me, I am going to ask for double for every week since you fail to respond to requests for help. You seriously suck. If I had any options, your company would be the last thing I would use.
I have requested customer service to contact me twice today, and I am still waiting. I also want to encourage everyone who has had the same issues with this company to go online every day and leave a review. Reddit is a good site, so is Pilot. There are many to choose from. Maybe if they take enough heat, they will get their act together.
I would also advise hiring an attorney. We have enough complaints to go class action already. Then they will have to make financial restitution to all they have screwed. All we need is 12 people on a jury that agree that companies are accountable to provide the services they say they can, especially if under government contracts to do so.
Hey, ID.me, how long did you think it was going to take when you screw people before they band together and take action? You may think you are big and powerful, but there is nothing more dangerous than someone who has nothing to lose! And myself and many others have lost enough to your incompetence!
I really hope that this can help unite everyone who has been wronged by this company to band together and demand resolution and to be made whole financially. Wow, ID.me, all we really want is for you to get our stuff fixed! Too bad you have forced me to take further action due to your negligence and incompetence, not to mention a complete failure on the part of your so-called customer service department.
Frustrating Experience with ID.me and DWD: No Response or Assistance Despite Multiple Verifications and Emails
I've been trying to get in touch with ID.me and DWD for over 50 times since January 31, 2021, but I haven't received any significant response or assistance. It's been frustrating to say the least. I even emailed Commissioner Payne, but still no actions or solutions, just words.
I've been verified by ID.me twice, and I have the emails to prove it. But still, nothing seems to be happening. On February 4, 2021, during a call to DWD, I was told it would take "a couple of days" for the "system to update" my ID. Since then, I have been "verified" by ID.me twice and received congratulatory emails which were faxed to DWD.
The first verification was simply document submissions, and the second and most recent was through a "live referee" facetime and document submissions. For this one, I had to use my wife's cell phone because I am unable to take pictures or "facetime" with my personal phone.
Following the directions of the ID.me "live referee," after completing my second verification on February 28, 2021, I "revoked" the existing permission for DWD to have access to my ID.me account, logged out, then went back in through my DWD uplink account to the ID.me button to give DWD permission to access my ID.me info. But for some reason, the ID.me system didn't work.
Recently, they told me to watch a YouTube video that I've already watched to set up an ID.me account that had been set up for months. The problem isn't that I don't know how to log in to ID.me. The problem is that they have an issue, and no one is taking the time to resolve it.
On March 9, 2021, several weeks after I first reported the problem, I received an email from ID.me claiming they had "released an update to fix the problem" I'd been encountering. I thought the problem was identity verification, not a software issue.
If I hear from DWD, they say it's their system, and if I hear from ID.me, they blame my system. On March 2, 2021, at DWD's request, I faxed nine pages of identifying documents, including my driver's license, VA card, and both emails from ID.me claiming I was now "verified." I was told it would take 24 to 72 hours to complete that review process. DWD received those documents over 13 days ago.
Now ID.me has my permission for DWD to access my info, and DWD has accessed my info, but I still show "Identity verification" as the reason for non-payment of any benefits on my PUA claim.
On a side note, DWD was authorized and reviewed the information in my ID.me profile on March 4, 2021, and accessed all my information. Now, when I log into my uplink account twice a day, I scroll down to the green button, and after completing the ID.me log in procedure, it simply returns me to my uplink page. When I request for them to "look into it," I hear nothing back for weeks.
I am using the same email, phone number, and direct deposit bank that I originally signed up with on the PUA program. I'm also going through the ID.me verification process each time I sign in to DWD, which then sends a text code to my phone, so I'm not sure why any of this became an issue in the first place.
Some of them claim to be "forwarding my information on to the right department," and still, nothing is resolved. I'm not sure what else to do. How long does it take to "investigate or adjudicate" a situation like this? What is there to investigate or adjudicate since the holdup is listed as "Identity Verification"? I have verified myself repeatedly.
No one from their office has made any attempt to contact me except for short emails responding to me saying, "it takes time." I haven't filed for unemployment in decades, and the computer systems are confusing to me. Continuing to file vouchers seems pointless when nothing is being paid.
Unemployment Verification Process: A Nightmare of Endless Waiting and Frustration
This is just ridiculous! I've been trying to upload my documents for two whole weeks now and I'm completely lost. I followed the link that Unemployment sent me, but it took me to the wrong place. I didn't know what to do next and I kept trying over and over again. Finally, I followed the link from someone else's email that Unemployment had sent them back in January and it took me to the verify section. I was so relieved! I uploaded my documents and my face was scanned. My correct information popped up, but after 15 seconds, it told me that I could not be verified. What a waste of time!
I was then given the option to have a referee do a live video FaceTime call to verify my documents live. Yesterday, I waited on hold for 15 hours! At the beginning, it said that my wait time would be 5 hours and 47 minutes. But when I reached 2 hours and 40 minutes left, it said that for about 12 hours! The entire time, it said that my wait time would be 2 hours and 40 minutes. So, I didn't know how many 2 hours and 40 minutes I was supposed to wait. But it was about 6 hours and 45 minutes intervals. Finally, my phone crashed and I had to restart it. Thankfully, there was an email asking me if I wanted to continue where I left off. I logged in and this time, it told me that I would be waiting for longer than 5 hours. I have been waiting for about 7 hours so far. Currently, I am still waiting. I don't know if I am even on hold or if I've lost the call. But it's there and the circle is continuing to turn. An email came that said do I want to continue where I left off. So, I'm not sure if that means that I've lost my turn again and I am just not aware of it. Or if I should just stay and continue to wait because it is a very difficult decision to make. I certainly don't want to hang up if I am actually still waiting. What if I turn my head for a few minutes or go to the bathroom? Will they stay on the phone and say something and yell out loud we are here? Or will they just happily hang up? There are no updates. We are simply just waiting and hoping it goes through.
I left a review on the Better Business Bureau website where they have an F rating. The complaints are all just about the same things. There are hundreds of them. Also, if you look on the app at the Play store for the reviews, there you will see that they have not received not one positive review. This is the worst company chosen to obtain our personal information. Knowing that it is the only choice that we have, usually we research the companies that we work for and have the choice do not work with them when they have reviews like this. But in this case, we have no other choice. We have to go ahead and trust these people with our personal information. Not knowing what kind of people work for them and not knowing what they are good for since everything about them on the web is negative. But we have to trust them and are relying on them to verify us in order for us to resume to receive our unemployment benefits. Or some people, as I read, to even begin their unemployment claims. It's not fair because no one is doing anything to stop this madness.
I cannot believe that there was no other company that could have done this for them. This company was just not prepared for the volume of the traffic they were going to receive. So why did they agree to take on the challenge? If you can't do it, just say you can't do it. Don't lie and disappoint the entire country and give this name to yourself that you have now received for being one of the worst most unreliable company anyone has ever worked with! It's a damn shame, and I plan to report this to my local news. Hopefully, they will listen and hopefully, I can help make some type of change because this here it's not cutting it! You can't help but to think that it is all part of a scheme to keep you from getting your benefits. I know about four people who actually walked away from it and said forget it. They can keep the money! That's not right!
ID.me: A Scam Company Culling Personal Data and Failing to Verify Identities for Unemployment Benefits
I recently had an experience with ID.me that left me feeling frustrated and angry. This company, which was apparently a startup in March 2021 according to Forbes magazine, is responsible for verifying the identities of individuals who are applying for unemployment benefits in Colorado. While I understand the need for identity verification, the way that ID.me is handling this process is unacceptable.
First of all, the company does not provide any means of resolution for individuals who are having trouble with the verification process. Instead, they simply send automated emails to every request for help that is submitted. This has been going on for months now, and it is clear that ID.me is not interested in actually helping people.
I have uploaded more documents for identity verification than is required for an original birth certificate or for the Social Security Administration. Despite this, ID.me continues to reject documents that meet their own published list of primary and secondary documents. It is clear that they are culling the private personal and financial data of every American impacted by this pandemic, and this is egregious fraud.
The whole purpose of their "Video Call with a Referee" is for an ID.me representative to be able to physically, in real time, review the uploaded documents and compare them to the person that is on the video call live in the moment. Yet, we are never allowed to actually get on a video call as they just keep rejecting document after document, despite meeting their own publicly published criteria.
Our livelihoods and very lives have been put in the hands of this company, and many other states have followed Colorado's lead and are now using this sham of a company. This means that millions of people are being bankrupted and losing everything when federal benefits are tied to a third-party contract made by the state with a brand new company whose practices are not only suspect, they are quickly looking like conspiratorial, fraudulent phishing tactics, while families are going hungry and losing everything. This cannot go on.
On my first attempt to verify, I clicked on the Verify Now button on the Colorado Unemployment website, just like hundreds of thousands of people have had to do. I uploaded my US Passport, and it was apparently accepted. At the same time as I clicked that button to go to the ID.me website, an account was apparently set up automatically, as all of my information was sent over to ID.me in session variables. I did not know this at the time, and it wasn't until a few weeks later that I discovered an ID.me account had already been created.
It was at that time that I discovered what I believed was the problem in my getting verified: my surname had been misspelled. Now, how this could have happened, given that my ID.me account was set up automatically, using session variables that were presumably created and sent when I clicked on that Verify Now button in that very first attempt to verify my identity... well, I will leave that to the imaginations of any reading this review.
Despite months of requests to ID.me support to correct my surname, which would have been a quick, efficient, and simple fix, they just got around to this correction 2 days ago, 6/16/21. Funny thing, despite my surname correction, the verification process continues to fail. Forcing me into the Video Call with a Referee, a process whose sole purpose is to, via a face-to-face, live, real-time, video call have an ID.me representative (or, Referee) physically, visually compare a person's uploaded identification documents to their actual physical face on the video call, and in this way, identity verification is supposed to occur.
Yet, this is not how the process works. The Referee apparently has the option to reject your documents, at will, and at their own personal discretion, despite the publicly published lists of acceptable primary and secondary identification documents that are acceptable, which is published and available, right now, on the ID.me website.
When you are forced down this process of the Video Call with a Referee, you have to choose the combination of documents you want to upload, given you've already uploaded a primary document, it was accepted, but the ultimate identity verification still failed. After the process failed several times and I realized they were not going to correct my surname anytime soon, I began the first of what has now been several repeated attempts to do the Video Call with a Referee.
Well, much to my surprise, a person cannot ever get to the actual video call, to explain or ask or question what is happening because the "Referee" continues to reject every document I've uploaded thus far, despite their meeting the criteria for secondary documents and social security documents three times over.
I've realized it doesn't matter what I upload because the bottom line is, they will verify your identity, maybe, in their own good time and when they darn well feel like it. Or they won't. I've uploaded more acceptable secondary documents than is required to get an original birth certificate or for the Social Security Administration to get a new card.
This company is culling the personal, private, financial, and health data of the American people. The "Referee" has rejected each and every one of my secondary documents, despite the fact that each and every one meets their own published criteria for both secondary identification documents and documents acceptable to prove social security number.
I don't know what else to do at this point. Any other documents I could upload would likely be rejected, while I'm certain they are creating an archive of all of the documents I've uploaded. This is ridiculous and illegal. They refuse to follow their own published lists and criteria. They refuse to allow actual contact with a live person. They respond to every request for help with automated bot emails that go on for weeks.
This is egregious, and I am going to file a complaint with our state's Attorney General first thing in the morning. Everyone who finds themselves here, reading reviews like this, needs to stand up and report to any and every agency what is happening here because I believe ID.me is a scam, and what they are doing is criminal.
After spending a good part of the morning preparing my documents for and then finally having my video call with ID
After spending a good part of the morning preparing my documents for and then finally having my video call with ID.me, I received an email with the subject "Action required to complete verification." In the email was the following text and instructions: Action Required You're receiving this email because you verified your identity on a video call with an ID.me Trusted Referee on [date] in order to access benefits and services at The Internal Revenue Service. Click the link below to return to The Internal Revenue Service, click on the ID.me button, and allow consent to share your verified identity information. I clicked on the "Continue" link and was taken to an IRS web page (***). There was no "ID.me button" anywhere on the page. I then re-read the message and became worried about the text "allow consent to share your verified identity information." What exactly does this mean? Who or what is "Consent"? With whom is it sharing my verified identity information? (Or are they trying to say, for example, "click on the ID.me button *to confirm your consent to sharing your verified identity information with the IRS*"?) I don't get a good vibe from the idea that my information is being shared with some entity that is not named, and the fact that this text does not parse grammatically does not give me confidence in the source (it sounds like something a spammer would write). In hindsight, it may be a good thing that I wasn't able to complete the "Action required" in this email. I tried to leave a report with the company itself to suggest that at the very least, they should have some professional editors or techinical writers review their standard email communications with the public. Unfortunately, there was no venue for providing this type of feedback or suggestions on their materials.
Very helpful thank you very much guys, good care, understood what they were doing
It's fine I have enough trouble I don't want to be talking to someone on video chat
ID and document verification was extremely efficient, effective and respectful. I am very impressed!
Very helpful! The agent was very professional and approachable! Very quick and easy, thank you Olga!
Used computers from grade school through graduate school and throughout career as software engineer
Used computers from grade school through graduate school and throughout career as software engineer. I've used all kinds of buggy software from demo's to outdated software that we had to keep running "for just another quarter". ID.me is worst software I've ever encountered. Doesn't flow. Doesn't work. And is user UNFRIENDLY. No updates on what is going on. Never delivers email required to set up video conference. Take high resolution photo, after an hour wait, photo "unreadable". Get authenticated on phone over and over. Should all be ONE TRANSACTION with ONE END TRANSACTION or backout transaction, but you can't backout if customer is waiting on you. There is no timer as you wait on email (that never comes) to confirm starting a video conference. I used drivers license and passport and figured this should be a 2 minute process, much like creating an account at Fidelity. Then as you use the screens, it appears there is a combination of incompetence and lack of English language skills. For example, screen says UPLOAD IMAGE or TAKE PHOTO, choose PHOTO, next screen says IMAGE, you click and you go back to taking a PHOTO. Finally, I figure this probably a phishing scam. They got my drivers license and passport info, right? So I resend "unreadable" photo, and this time it is accepted as readable. No way a legitimate online business could stay in business running a very process this poorly. Forget about threads and processes on the backend or whatever is making the responses so slow, there is nothing intuitive or efficient about the front-end, user interface. You click YES on phone, no indication you chose YES, but at some point you click CONTINUE and hope for best. And CONTINUE doesn't indicate it is selected or not. They should cancel what they have and start over. I wouldn't trust this outfit with anything, least of all my identity. I'd recommend just paying your taxes as a guest, or finding any workaround for whatever you need to do with ID.ME
I had a great experience with ID.me, Inc. The agent was knowledgeable, professional and fast.
I was forced to use it for my IRS accounts. It is a waste of taxpayers money. The login is no different than the eServices login, whereby a code is sent by text message. After logging in, I can only access one of my three accounts. A link for a second account listed says I do not have access to the service (despite it being shown as active on the page). The third account is not even shown at all. I contacted ID.me and the response was 'Since you have successfully verified your identity with ID.me, please contact the IRS with any further questions regarding IRS online services.' Since none of these issues ever occured with the eServices direct login, it is clearly an issue with ID.me.
This was the most helpful, quick and effective process problem solving situation that I ever came across online. Perfect customer service.
Very helpful, easygoing agents, quick results, and excellent service. I am pleased to be helped by you guys.

Waiting three weeks to hear back from someone from the company to unlock my account
I have been trying to get help from ID.ME for three weeks. I have submitted tickets and even reached out on social media. My account has been temporarily suspended and I have no idea why. I was not informed what I did wrong, I was able to log in one day and the next I was suspended. I need this resolved immediately in order to complete time sensitive documents for the Veterans Affair.

On 7/3/2023 I completed my id.me verification and everything was fine.
On 8/15, 8/26, 9/17, 9/26 & 10/9 2023 I contacted support to unlock my suspended account. In mean time I got a letter from IRS stating I owed taxes but I had no earned income in 2022 and only collected my disability check. I don't owe them anything, I had my surgery that year, I did not work at anytime in 2022.
I cannot get anyone to let me back in my account and I don't know why I cannot get into it. There is no number for id.me customer support to get a human to talk to so they can let me access my account or delete it and I got no help with all the emails I sent reaching out for help.
Desired outcome: Delete id.me account so I can create new account

Account Suspended, no one from ID.me has reached out in last two weeks
On today 10-11-23 upon logging into ID.me, ID.me says our account is suspended. Our account has been suspended for the last two weeks and we don't know why. We have reached out via email and phone and no one has contacted us back. ID.me seems like it is a good company, however we need someone to contact us as soon as possible as our employees desperately need to be paid.
Desired outcome: I would appreciate it if someone from ID.me could reach out to us for assistance with unsuspending our account as soon as possible.
I have identity theft.
Yes, I have had a lady who has tied her number and email address to my identification. The issue not being resolved is the fact that I cannot update my information to get services and benefits from Social Security. I am also seeking employment to get help too. I have worked 4 months to fix this problem and issue. The lady who stole my information is using it to get credit and services that she is not entitled to.
Desired outcome: Please remove this lady from my Social Security information.

discrepancy in emails holding up UI claim
I filed a claim with NJ unemployment and I am approved but because ID.ME has two different emails for me my verification on UI website says incomplete. i cant get a hold of anyone. There seems to be no connection between UI and id.me. I am verified says ID.ME. but i still cant certify. I need to certify i am unemployed and I was APPROVED for benefits it is just being HELD UP through ID,.ME. If this doesnt get fixed within a week and someone from ID.ME doesnt get back to me I am going to file a complaint with Attorney General of NJ.
Customer service contact
When logging in to my account I receive “We're sorry, this account has been temporarily suspended. Please contact our customer support for assistance.” I have tried submitting a support request, but after filling in form when I press the “Submit” button nothing happens. I have tried both Chrome & Firefox browsers with same results.
After exploring all options to contact ID.Me I always end back at the contact support page which doesn't respond when trying to submit a request

My account has been suspended and I have filled out a support report to get my account straighted out. For months nobody from their support has contacted me at all. I'm trying to verify my info for my taxes so they can released by the government. Idme support doesn't seem to care. I'm a single mom with a special.needs child and I have struggled when I lost employment. My taxes would help get my special needs son stuff he needs. For three mo ths nobody has made any effort to help me get my account unsuspended. I will not recommend idme to anyone at all.
Desired outcome: My account to be unsuspended and I'm able to use it to verify my information for my taxes. I would like someone to contact me on this on going issue ASAP!

ID.me has suspended my account. [protected]@gmail.com.Contacted them on 8/7/2023 and again on 8/21/2023. Answered their questions. No response. Now I have to go to the IRS to defend my identity. Need this account restored. Tried setting up another account they have suspended all of them. This is causing me real problems in a business verifying my information for possible future employment. They say on their email that they will give a rapid response. not sure they understand rapid at all.
Desired outcome: ID. me account unsuspended so I can be verified by management company.
ID.me Identity verification
I was prompted by my Department of Labor - Unemployment to create an ID.me account and was given a link that took me to the site. I followed the directions to capture my DL and then was prompted to scan my face. Once completed the site directed me to return to the previous page but when I did it told me my account was "SUSPENDED". This was 5 WEEKS AGO!
I was instructed to follow the instructions in an e-mail they sent to me, which I did 5 TIMES over the 5 weeks since this started, yet NO RESPONSE!
In conversation with the State DOL, I was told by several different departments that this is a HUGE problem and as many as 85% of the calls they handle are the same complaint.
Desired outcome: I want my account fixed. The Division of Unemployment has told me they are waiting for ID.me to verify me so they can pay me, that is the only thing preventing me from obtaining my funds. I need to buy FOOD and MEDICINE!
I was finally able to get a phone number for ID.me, unfortunately, they NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE! A message tells you what their normal business hours are and to call back then. NO MATTER WHAT TIME YOU CALL YOU GET THE SAME MESSAGE!
This company is held responsible for people's INCOME, and yet they are criminally negligent in their services and actions.
I cannot verify My account using MFA
Hello,
When I added My College information, I was not asked for My State ID to verify My identity. I have been having problems with identifying MY ID for the MFA. I keep getting this message in the photo below,
That email is annissawords8...[protected]@gmail.com.
I Did Not Create that account and I Do Not Own that email address.
I have been messaging ID.me for months now about deleting that account and still, No One from Technical Support has Ever Contacted Me.
All I keep getting from other people is the issue is being looked at, Someone from Tech support will get in contact with you. That has not happened. It should be relatively easy to delete that account.
What is going on with this and Why has No One contacted Me about the status of this issue? This is so frustrating and I Want this issue taken care of Immediately. This is so annoying waiting for a response.
The email I use is:
[protected]@gmail.com
That is the only email I have and that is the only one in my ID.me file.
PLEASE Expedite this issue and delete the below account and email associated with:
annissawords8...[protected]@gmail.com
Thank You for Your Immediate action on this.
Sincerely,
Sharon Ginter

I’d me customer service
I went to login over a week ago and found out I’m temporarily suspended. I sent the initial email and got a follow up email and filled out the specific info that was asked. I’ve done that 3 times now. I have gotten zero response and am frustrated with the lack of follow up from this company especially during back to school season. [protected]@gmail.com
Desired outcome: I want my account reinstated
Someone who works in the technical department of ID.ME gives me a call and lets me know to do next.
I have an account to sign into the id. Me website.. However, from there, my attempts to go into the irs website requires me to verify my email address. I send a link to my phone, where I am asked to upload photos; I click the link, and I am asked if my email is correct (which it is) I hit yes and then get the message saying change rejected. I am not changing my email address, I cannot move past that page. I have sent several emails to customer support with no response. I have no idea what is next? Does one have to go to the physical location in sterling virginia to get resolution? No one picks up the phone during business hours at the customer service number. The message tells you to call back during business hours... But I am calling during business hours? How does one get help? Is there no response at all? I am simply trying to look at past tax records. This should not be this ridiculously complicated. Please advise!
Account suspended
I have been trying to sign into id.me and the account is suspended. I've filled out 4 slips for someone to contact, to no avail. It is ridiculous to have a site that has all of your personal information and you cannot contact anyone when you have a problem. Very poor customer care service. As a result, I cannot sign into my IRS account to make my monthly payments and see my progress in payments.
