Jennifer Convertibles sofa bed

I received a sofa bed and it was made terribly . The construction of this sofa is awful. When sitting on the couch the cushions sink into the couch and after getting up the cushions have to be pulled out of the bottom of the couch, I shouldn't have to adjust the cushions every time I get up. Also when sitting in the center your thighs hit the from wood panel of the couch, the back cushions are not sewn straight the inner corners are higher than the outer corners, the middle foot of the couch is 6 inches off center, staples are sticking up from the front panel. When I went to the store the salesmen was of no use at all, he gave me a number to call and said there is nothing he can do. He did give me the name of his district manager Collen Muccia, who never answers her phone or her voice mail and I called her 3 times in 2 weeks still no answer. I did get I touch with a women Meryl Gair who seemed to be very supportive but after numerous emails back and forth seemed to get very short and impatient in her emails when I tried to call her she was conveniently not there and that was after 2 phone calls to the woodbury office and waiting almost 10 minutes for them to answer the phone. So after 2 weeks of waiting I am back to square one and they still have to come see the couch that they want to try to REPAIR, even after all the pictures Ms. Gair requested. Imagine repairing a couch that was never even used? So far I feel I'm getting the run around by this company, I have heard some good things about jennifers that's why I went to them but I am sorry I ever set foot in the store. And by the way the saleswomen told me I get a set of sheets with the sofa bed but when I happened to look on line the sofa bed was $80 cheaper than in the store, when I asked the salesmen he told me that was cause it was on line BUT the price for the regular sofa was the same and he told me it was because I got the sheets, I didn't ask for the $80 sheets, I was conned, the saleswomen made me think they came with the sofa bed...lies. Also the customer service stinks, they took almost 10 minutes to answer my calls.

Jennifer Convertibles delivery

After taking a day off for a delivery, got a call 2 days before the delivery that there are not coming
The couch didn't make the truck. Couldn't get schedule changed so i'm out a days pay. Now it's suppose to be next sunday. Company didn't want to hear anything. Do I gamble another day off.
They think people have nothing else to do but sit and wait for them.

Jennifer Convertibles incomplete order/mistake in delivery

Long story made short. Ordered a chaise & love seat in different colors. I was unaware that colors had been switched on the order after a few conversations to the contrary. Mistake was discovered on delivery. The love seat was acceptable, but chaise was not. It never came off the truck. I have been told that if I want the chaise I have to pay a restocking fee. Yet there is no mention of such a fee on any of the papers that I signed. Total purchase is sitting on a credit card. Have been trying to get answers but no one is communicating from the executive end of Jennifer Convertibles.

Jennifer Convertibles horrible customer service

We picked a model the salesman said could be delivered in one week. When we called the day before delivery to ask when it would be delivered, the salesman told us the model was sold out and the next one would take 3 weeks to get delivered. Despite requesting a waive in shipping fees ($75) the regional sales manager said the best they could do was "allow" us to cancel the order without charge. We are now looking at raymour and Flanigan since we are expecting a baby in a week and need a place for our mother in law to sleep! Worst experience ever and horrible business practices for a growing family. I'm considering calling the better business bureau!

About Jennifer Convertibles. I bought a sofa and loveseat for $1, 800 and was told to purchase extra insurance to protect the furniture for future damages; the insurance will cover blood, chocolate, juice, gum, oil, urine, coffee, water etc… the insurance cost me $300.00. also the manager informed that the insurance if for LIFE TIME. As long as I own my furniture, I’m covered; also the manager specific told me if the company runs out of the fabric, I will get a new sofa and love seat. It also stated that in the insurance. Okay! Everything was fine until I reported some chocolate stains. The technician came he removed the stain, but on the loveseat the stain was tough, he could not remove it so he ordered a new replacement fabric. Everything was fine until the company runs out of fabrics. They don’t carry the fabric that matches the sofa and loveseat. I called I reported a blood stain on the sofa and loveseat. The technician came and could not remove neither stains. So he gave me this attitude, “the stains have been here for so long” “they have been here for more than 7 days” I said no the stains have been on the couch for a week. He said no, “I can tell they have been here for a long time” I knew what he was get into. He knew from the start the company doesn’t carry the fabric anymore he tries to pull this scam on me. so he left with an attitude saying I’ll let the company know what happened. So few days later I received a call from one of the representatives from Jennifer Convertibles, she said, hi, “we understand that the technician came to your place and was unable to remove the stains on your sofa and loveseat” she said, unfortunately the company doesn’t carry this fabric anymore, and the stains on your sofa were old, they are more than 7 days, the insurance policy covers stains reported in 7 days” she went on “ the insurance DOES NOT COVER BLOOD” I said who that idiot thinks she’s talking to. The insurance I purchased for $300.00 clearly stated that it covers BLOOD. She said sorry! I wish I can help you further she hung up. Well I took this to court. I file a complaint against Jennifer Convertibles. I sued them for $2000.00. this was NOT an easy lawsuit, but everything went well. Before the court date I received a phone call from the corporate manager named Wes. He said he understands that I’m suing the company. I said YES SIR, I’M SUING JENNIFER CONVERTIBLES. NOW WHAT? he said you don’t want to do that because the court is going to rule in my favor. I said “is that right” Wes said, “to prevent this from happening, I am offering you twenty dollars (20) for both sofa and loveseat. Lucky he was on the phone saying that. I would have slapped him in the mouth and knock his yellow teeth out his mouth. You guys should hear his voice on the phone. Well spoken, sweet clear voice, extremely knowledgeable, smart… I also recognize the voice a thief. I went to court, Wes was a no show. That’s a lost right there. The judge asked me for proof of insurance, and proof of purchase. she read the insurance policy carefully. she asked me for some pictures, I showed her couple of pictures of the stains. She read the insure covers for blood stain, she said you won the case go down stairs and collect your $2000.00. Jennifer Convertibles LOST the case I WON and got my money back from Jennifer Convertibles. You guys don’t be afraid to take them to court, make sure you keep all of your receipts, proof of insurance, make sure the kind of stains you have on your couch match the insurance policy, take pictures, keep your furniture cleaned, you will win… Jennifer convertible is a big SCAM

Jennifer Convertibles horrendous!!

If you are considering shopping at Jennifer Convertibles please read what I recently experienced before making the decision to spend your money there.

I did lots of research and checked out about 6-8 different stores for a good quality leather couch. I am a firm believer you get what you pay for so when it comes to a piece of furniture I am all about spending a little more if it means better quality. The final two leather couches came down to Raymour and Flanigan and Jennifer Convertibles, I am now having buyers remorse after bad customer service at Jennifer Convertibles.

I purchased a nice leather couch for $2500 1.5 years ago from Jennifer Convertibles and purchased the extended warranty that says they will fix or replace any damage to the couch for 2 year from the purchase date. I email Jennifer Convertibles to let them know that the seam where the leather meets the fabric on the bottom of the cushion has split. Granted the split of the seam is on the bottom of the cushion but I wanted it fixed or replaced before it got worse. Jennifer Convertibles email response to me was that this was not covered because it was over a year from the purchase date and a defect by the manufacturer that they are not responsible for.

I felt the fact that this was their response at a time when good customer service is essential to retain customers and obtain new customers through referrals was a very poor decision on their part. I also was looking to purchase the matching love seat and chair which was about another $1700 which after this experience, will not be purchasing from them..

I will never buy anything from Jennifer Convertibles or any related company again. I plan on contacting the manufacturer Ashley Furniture to see if they can be of more assistance than Jennifer was.

Please don’t make the same mistake I did and buy a piece of furniture from Jennifer Convertibles.

Check out this video before spending any money at Jennifer Convertibles. Seriously. And don't opt for the Upholstery Shield/Leather Protection Plan. It's a scam just to milk more money out of you.

I have a sofa and two chairs delivered. Upon delivery, the microfiber was damaged in a few places (very cheap material) and the back cushions had deep wrinkles from being packed so tightly in boxes. When the delivery people saw the wrinkles they told me that it would eventually smooth out. I returned this living room set and purchased another. This time a leather sofa. Sure enough, the cushions were too tightly packed in boxes and came out wrinkled, and I was given the same excuse. I was so frustrated at this point that I decided to try to believe that the wrinkles would smooth out... almost three years later and it's still the same. The two chairs accompanying the sofa? Two of the legs fell off and the others were wobbly. The cocktail table and end tables also became very wobbly. I had to have a handyman come in and fix them. Although the furniture may look good in the store, resist the temptation and run out of there as quickly as you can!

I had previously brought in the past from Jennifer Convertibles and it was an okay experience. This was over twenty years ago. Things have definitely changed. I will never buy from them again.
The sale person was pleasant yet she kept pushing for something we didn't need. We were happy to hear that we could get the sofa the following week. As soon as we left the store, the saleperson called and changed the delivery date to three weeks later. This was a big disapointment. We had the sofa now for a month, the cushions are already getting flat and they slide off the sofa. This is the most annoying thing having to straighten the cushion everytime you get off the sofa. I wish I had gone elsewhere, They say guarantee, but that means that you are guarantee to be stuck with it. Unless, you put up a big fight. It's really not worth it. You get what you pay for I guess.

Jennifer Convertibles bad leather

Purchased a leather couch a little over 2 years ago and the leather is completely wearing off. Called the customer service number and the woman was very rude. She said they only offered help if something "accidental" happened to the couch. When I asked what suggestions she had to a consumer with this issue she said she had none and hung up.

Jennifer Convertibles warranty issues

I purchased a furniture set consisting of a sofa, loveseat, and chair on 6/11/07 from the Jennifer Convertibles store located on 1231 Fulton Street in Brooklyn. I called Jennifer Convertibles on the dates of 3/22/10 – 3/26/10, in order to have my sofa and loveseat repaired due to peeling of the seats, cushion and back exterior. During the previously mentioned four day period, each time I called a recording would play concerning office hours; I received no response or even an acknowledgement of the problem. Once again, from 3/28 – 3/29 I called the number provided to me, only this time a recording played stating the store would be closed during the Passover holiday. Throughout the entire month of April, I called Jennifer Convertible’s furniture repair services to no avail, as I continued to receive no response. On 5/3, I received a phone call to schedule an appointment on 5/5 between the hours of 11:00 a. m. to 3:00 p. m. – which no one appeared to address my grievances. I called the office from 5/5 – 5/20, again,
without eliciting a response, until I informed them that I would proceed to contact the Attorney General unless the problem was settled immediately. On Sunday 5/23, I received a message
from a woman stating that someone had indeed come to my address on 5/5 in an attempt to remedy the situation.in return, I phoned the office to notify them that the information
provided in the message was false, as my recent surgery has left me confined indoors, and no one appeared on said date. Shortly following my message, I received a call to schedule an
appointment for 5/26. On 5/26, a man did show up to observe the problem – which is about all he really did upon seeing the peeling – just observing and taking photographs. The appointment
proved to be very disappointing and extremely unprofessional, I was not once asked to sign a form nor was I prompted to give any reference number information, I was told that all relevant
information was located at the office. Before the visit ended, I was informed that I would receive a response within another 5 to 10 days. On 6/7, I received a letter in the mail stating
that the peeling could not be repaired due to neglect, which is absolutely preposterous considering the furniture was seldom used and yet still proceeded to deteriorate. Their claim of
“neglect” is contrary to what I had been informed upon purchase of the furniture: which stated that any issue regarding the furniture would be either repaired or replaced, so long as the
damage was due to no fault of my own. And yet, the Upholstery Shield Lifetime Protection Plan I purchased along with the furniture set, stated that “accidental damage” is covered. So,
according to their own warranty, even if I had unintentionally damaged the furniture they would still be obligated to honor their promise of repairing or replacing any section of the purchased set. I decided in good faith to purchase the lifetime warranty with the expectation that Jennifer Convertibles would adequately rectify any and all problems that might occur. Instead, I found them to be extremely deceptive and their refusal to accept responsibility regarding the matter only heightens their lack of decent customer service.

I bought a leather sofa, chair & ottoman from Jennifer Convertibles on 02/11/07 and the Upholstery SHIELD lifetime leather protection plan for an extra $249.97. On 3/29/12 I called Upholstery SHIELD to report a rip/tear in my sofa & chair. A case was created & I was told to send in images of the damaged items. On 4/4/12 I sent in images. I called on 4/9/12 spoke to Merle who said the VP of Cust. Service, Mr. Ehrlich, said my damages were from the leather chipping and pealing not from a rip/tear. I contested, wondering how Mr. Ehrlich could have a "better" understanding of what happened in my home w/MY sofa & chair than I could. Frustrated, on 4/11/12, I wrote a letter stating my case asking if they would honor the contract & repair my sofa & chair. I received a call on 4/17/12 from Merle stating, Mr. Ehrlich is still convinced cracking/peeling is what caused the rip/tear - not covered by the agreement. It's a scam they are running to get buyers to pay $250 for a plan they won't cover.

Jennifer Convertibles worst store and service

I need to complain Jennifer Convertibles for their terrible service and terrible furniture. I do not recommend anyone to buy furniture from them. Even IKEA furniture is better than them.

I bought a sofa set from Jennifer Convertibles San Mateo, CA location on Oct 09.in just 2 months, the springs of the sofa are having the squeezing noise and the middle of the sofa goes down deeper than it supposed to be when sitting on it. It’s getting extremely not comfortable to sit on and my back starts to get hurt. This is too ridicule. On 2 months, the sofa is broken. I can’t believe this is even worse than IKEA furniture. I am extremely disappointed. The manager said the sofa has a year warrant. I called Jennifer Convertibles customers service and the tech people comes 3 WEEKS LATER. But at the end of the “repair service”, he said he could not fix the springs or the noise and it’s up to Jennifer Convertibles manufacture to either fix or change it for us. He said someone will call us for 7 days but no one called us. I called their customer center and I got hold for 15 minutes and the rep. finally told me that there is NOTHING they can do. Based on their policy, the manufacture said there is NOTHING wrong with the springs ALTHOUGHT they are MAKING NOISE! I called back the manager and the manager said there is nothing he could help!

This is a terrible experience. I paid over $800 to buy a Sofa set and it is broken in 2 months. Although the agreement in the back of the receipt said it’s under 1 year warrant, but Jennifer Convertibles refused to do anything for it and said there is NOTHING WRONG?! What should I do with the broken not comfortable sofa that makes my back hurt? I just got that in 2 months. I am so angry and disappointed with their service. This is the worst stores and service I've ever dealt with!

I purchased a sectional at Jennifer Convertibles in Owings Mills, MD last October. The couch was on sale so my wife and I bought it. The delivery was more expensive than we could afford, so since I had a truck and the warehouse was only 30 minutes away I decided to drive down there to get it. Customer pick-up is available once a month so we had to wait until mid November to get it. When we were halfway there I decided to call and confirm, they said they had no record of my purchase, so we turned around and went home. I immediately called the showroom (where I made my purchase) and talked to a sales rep. He told me that the furniture was unavailable because the guy who sold me the couch made a mistake in submitting the order and another salesman sold my couch (the one at the warehouse) to another customer. He then told me that I could wait until next month (December 23) to pick it up again.

Okay, so I understand the mix-up that happened. We're all human, and mistakes happen. But, here's the kicker. Upon telling me I would have to wait another month to pick up the couch, the gentleman at the showroom said that because the couch was marked down so low, there was NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO HELP ME. "Were making almost nothing on the purchase, " He said. Nothing they could do. I asked if I could get free shipment... nope. I would have to pay the full $150. "Could you throw in a rug for my immense troubles?" Nope.

Needless to say, I was pretty irate by this point. I should've backed away from the deal and got the full refund they almost wouldn't let me have. Instead I consented to wait another month to go down and pick the couch up myself. I did, and now I finally have it. I will never shop at Jennifer's, again. Please inform anyone you might know in my area (central Maryland) who might be looking to get new furniture and tell them to go anywhere but Jennifer's, especially the one in Owings Mills.

Jennifer Convertibles poor service

I ordered a chair and ottoman on June 5, 2009. I was told it would take 16 weeks.in October, I called to inquire. Store Manager told me they lost the paperwork and would get back to me. I had to call her back after several hours and was told she was sorry to inform me that it was never ordered and my options were they could reorder or I could cancel. She further stated I may be able to get a discount that she would have to get approval for. She told me she'd call me back and to date I have not heard from her. It should be noted the furniture is paid in full and they have had my money, over $750, since June. I also expressed my concern over the fact that I clearly stated that we had pets and wanted the additional leather protection warranty. The sales person sold us the protection plan. It was later that I read the fine print and saw it clearly excluded any pet damage. I felt they should have disclosed this especially since we told the sales person we had dogs! I'm sorry I gave them my business; last year we ordered a sofa and loveseat and decided later to go ahead and order the matching chair/ottoman.

Jennifer Convertibles couches

Wow where can I begin, This company is a joke. They have the WORST Delivery Service and Sales representatives I have ever seen. My couches were delivered late with rude delivery men that didn't know how to do their job and didn't want to fit the couches in the elevator, because the couches they said "didn't fit" but they didn't even try to fit them they just assumed without trying.

I asked them to try and see instead of just assuming they said it's too late and they have other deliveries to make and took the couches without my approval. That's when I called their customer service and complained their people said that the delivery people said I refused the couches, I was angry about the whole thing demanded my money back they gave me a headache and I didn't give up I complained to everyone in that store and gave them hell. I did in fact receive all my money back including my delivery which they wanted to keep. Stay far away from this place, and don't listen to them when they say oh delivery problems that was fixed.

Jennifer Convertibles bait and switch - deliberatley mis-represented product - made it impossible to return product. literally.

Thieves. Simply thieves. Michael the store manager deliberately and with total knowledge he was doing so, lied to me that the couch I was buying was made of solid construction - which was what I specifically asked. The couch came to me in 5 pieces. 5 pieces that when put together, jiggled like a bowl full of jelly when anyone sat down. Michael, the store manager wiped his hands of the transaction as soon as he had my credit card receipt. Despite my multiple calls to the store demanding this damaged and misrepresented couch be picked up, he did nothing. He did not call customer service as he said he would. He did not arrange for pick up and refund as he said he would.

Customer service is no more than a human voice mail. They have zero input or authority. They fix nothing. their job is to take messages. Requests for escalation went nowhere..

Criminals. Calling my state attorney general and bbb and credit card company.

Duh...How do you think furniture is constructed? Did you think you were paying $599 for a sofa hand crafted out of a single piece of wood? Do your research.

P.S. Using the word "criminal" that loosely is probably not the best idea.

Jennifer Convertibles bad service

I purchased 2 sofa beds on sale for $299.00 each on April April 11, 2008, the sale was to end the following day. I paid the whole amount on a credit card and chose to pick it up myself (because delivery was $139.00 per piece) As the next few days came and went, I found out that I couldn't get anyone I knew to pick up my sofas, so on Friday evening, April 14th, I phoned the store to cancel the order, there was no answer (I figured that perhaps they had closed early for Good Friday) so I went up there in person on Saturday, April 15th. I was told at that time that I COULD NOT CANCEL because I was spast the 48 hour limit, but I could still cancel; they would just keep 30 % of my total. I left the store very upset. I called the store on Monday, April 17, 2008 and spoke to the manager, Jo Anne who did indeed confirm that I could not cancel my order, WITHOUT LOSING 30 %. I phoned her manager, Lisa Hupfer on Monday, as well and left a voice mail message explaining what had happened, NO CALL BACK. I called the next 2 days, and still NO CALL BACK. NOW I'M REALLY UPSET.

If anyone else has ever experienced anything like this from JENNIFER CONVERTIBLES, please let me know. I did see on the Internet that they are being sued in New York.

Jennifer Convertibles poor product/service/warranty

Stay Away - if you need convincing - read the many websites inc this one that tell their story. From the minute we ordered the leather furniture and waited 6 - 8 weeks for the furniture to arrive - to the way it is "wearing out" after a few years of normal use and no response after many attempts to have my purchased $ warrantly acted upon - no action - no contact - no customer service. Too bad - it could be so different but now I've got to pass it on and tell all myfamily and friends to stay away.

Jennifer Convertibles service /workmanship

purchased a dual love seat 7 mos. ago .I called for an appt. waited over 2 weeks for the service tech. Well he came and the visit lasted only about 7 minutes, where I was told that it would be another 4/5weeks for parts and materials.I gave up a day of work only to be told wait again. My appt. was for a service tech, not a job repair estimate. The quality of this merchandise is poor, and I;m afraid that when this repair is done the other reclining mechanism will need to be repaired, and with the waitng my warranty probably be void. And to think I gave up a perfectly GREAT sofa for this! Thanks alot, after this is repaire9I Hope) I;ll be ready for another sofa, but NOT HERE!

Jennifer Convertibles uninformed

I received a delivery of my sofa bed. They were not able to get the couch through the doorway. When I called the store they informed me that the dimensions were on the receipt. At no time was I told that the couch was oversized and would not fit through a standard doorway.I would also like to mention that a love seat had been delivered with no problems.I was informed that they would charge an additional $200 dollars to reassemble my furniture.I hired someone at my own expense to remove the glass sliding doors and they are charging me to re-deliver this furniture.I don't think I should have to pay to deliver the furniture again when I could have made arrangments to remove the door the first time had I been informed that the couch was oversized to begin with. Please email me back with a response.

Jennifer Convertibles fraud and scam

Maybe I should have done my research before driving 40 miles in pouring rain to get myself a smaller sofa for my new place. I was very excited to find good looking and perfect seating but extremely discouraged to find out not only was the 'local' delivery charge $160 but that my location was considered 'long distance' and would cost another $100 on top of their ridiculous delivery charges. When told about it, of course I objected and had some questions. Kudos to the sales girl, but the manager was extremely rude, wanted to 'school' me on 'Global Delivery'! I left, but returned after not being able to find something else suitable for my situation. Upon return, the manager continued to be rude to me and when I told her she was rude she became worse...and I quote...'We just need to stop talking to each other.'

Now, explain this...if all the merchandise comes from a warehouse in southern California...why is delivering to my hometown (which happens to be closer to LA than this particular store) considered long distance? And, why would I have to sign to decline their $170 protection plan if they weren't making it optional? I am very disappointed that I wasted the gas and had to deal with a rude manager...even more disappointed that the set I wanted to purchase was perfect for my situation. Hidden costs make for false advertising in my book. These stores should be closed.
