Quality of care
Kaiser took care of my mother in law since she was a teenager.so how is it that your doctors and hospital did not know of her clogged artries until she suffered a stroke about 6 years ago? her surgery was cancelled by her doctor and she dies waiting on a bed at a different hospital 11/22/2017.how do you explain that?than Kaiser hospital lied to her about the bed they were waiting on at Stanford in san fran.there is no wait on beds there I called them and they said there is not a wait for a medical emgency like that she would have went right in.
Lack of care, rude service, misdiagnosed, ect.
I strongly advocate for never getting Kaiser Permanente health insurance. I do not think this organization is dedicated to offering the best healthcare, but the opposite.
My family switched to Kaiser six years ago and for the first four years I was relatively happy with the service we all received.
Obama Care happened; and this flooded the Kaiser medical facilities with new members. Kaiser did not bother to employ enough medical staff. The waits doubled, seeing specialist was a month or more for a appointment, and I felt like a number.
Their policies on chronic pain changed, and I was forced off Tylonel 3. It was horrible because I had not only painful extreme IBS, but also a severely herniated disk. Due to my stomach issues I cannot take motrin based medication for long term. So my doctor made me suffer in agony.
My son was treated badly in the ER, and misdiagnosed; by this heartless ER doctor. She actually screamed at my son who was barfing uncontrollably! I guess if you work as a doctor at Kaiser you must lack empathy and have a black hole where your heart should be.
The last ER visit I had two doctors examed and pressed hard on the left side where I was having horrible pain. It was because the doctors thought I was faking. After a CAT scan showed diverticulitis. They both felt stupid. I was not drug seeking.
My personal witch of a doctor decided to take some much needed medication for my stomach and herniated disk. She did not discuss this with me; nor are these narcotics! When some type of nodules were found on my lungs and liver; not in a CAT scan four months prior, my doctor showed no concern. She did not bother to set a appointment to ease my fears, she had her snarky nurse write me that I needed to have a CAT scan in a year, without explaining anything! You just find out there are these growths that developed suddenly; and her advice is to get a scan in a year. I adviced my doctor or her snarky nurse that if they could please send the results of the CAT scan via KP.Org, or at least the results for my new doctor to look over. She, of course, refused. WTF?! I bad results sent to me this way prior. So she was just a [censor].
I can go on and on. To when I was in agony and my doctor refused to contact me. How he became rude and distant? So I got a worse doctor who seemed nice amd turned into a total [censor]? I requested my medical records over a week ago; of course these recorda have not showed up. I have a doctor's appointment in a few days. F you Kaiser I hate you, and glad I will never have to deal with you again!
My family has been with Kaiser for six years. The last two have been horrible. I feel like a number, not a person. There is no individualized care. It is cookie cutter for everyone. Nor do I feel this health group have your best interest at heart. It seems the "healthcare" professionals are more concerned about protocols and the bottom line. The waits are long... If you need to make a appointment with a specialist it is a month or two.. If you have to sign in... It takes 20 minutes; ER is 8 hours plus.. Urgent Care is 4 hours plus. They need to hire more dam doctors for the influx of Obama patients!
I live in Orange County and some of the Kaiser facilities are truly beautiful. But inside doctors truly do not care about you... You are a number on your Kaiser Card.
Things started turning bad for me two years ago. My primary care doctor became cold and distant. He started asking me questions about what I was doing with my Tylonal 3. Such as if I sold it. It actually made me laugh because it was absurd. He was never warm with me after thaf visit. One time I was having what he calls a episode of IBS so bad I can barely walk. This was shortly after seeing him and taking steriods for a herinated disk. I figured that is what caused the episode to flare up. I called him daily for almost a week for help as he instructed me too. Finally I had no choice but to head to the ER. Than my doctor's nurse played these stupid games over the phone. I felt horrible and did not want to participate in childish games.
My second doctor was okay, she also was a bit cold. She explained to me the drug protocols had changed, and I needed to not take that medication anymore. To be honest, I just went to a pain management clinic and paid cash for it. Or used natural remedy, also. Which I resented. Why does my husband pay for our dam insurance? But protocols are more important than my quality of life.
Fast forward I was refused surgery for my herniated disk. Which has also made my life a living hell. I was not even given medication I could take on a regular basis. As Motrin based and STEROIDs disagree with my stomach. Kaiser did not care. The ER doctors did not care. My primary, nor the urgent care. My physical medicine doctor told me it should be healed by now. Guess what, it is not!
I took my son barfing uncontrollably; and the doctor yelled at him, and did nothing for his pain and vomiting. She also misdiagnosed him. He actually has a serious condition. Where do these doctors get their degrees at Kaiser? Maybe in a Cracker Jack Box?!
My doctor third doctor seemed really nice and at first I really liked her. Not towards the end. She took of medication I need for my stomach and herniated disk. These are not narcotic drugs. She did not discuess this with me, just decided to erase them off my record because she is a witch. Who does that?
She also stopped medication I needed on a trip and refused to refill while I was on vacation on the otherside of the country. Real nice doctor!
I was in agony one night and ended up in the ER. Two doctors pressed on my stomach where it was hurting badly. This is because I had the nerve to ask for pain medication. The doctor had a CAT scan and I have diverticulitis! It was very painful. They assumed I was drug seeking. I guess I proved that I truly was in pain.
The CAT scan showed nodules growing inside my lungs and liver. I had a CAT scan four months earlier and these growths were not there. I found out from another doctor. The ER scheduled a appointment with a doctor without informing me. I happen to call the day prior to the appointment because I wanted a phone appointment with a doctor to explain what was wrong with me. As the paperwork and medication said two different things. The lady told me I have a appointment the next day. Nice of them to inform me!
My doctor responded via KP.org that my nodules were of no concern, and I needed to have a scan done in a year. So three nodules developed in a four month period; and I should not be concerned?! I told her I wanted a CAT scan at four months. Which is what the medical board advices. Kaiser's cheap [censor] wants the Kaiser
to kill you. Than they do not have to flip the medical bill if it is cancer.
My doctor, or nurse was defensive and rude after that message. You find out something is wrong with your body. Your doctor is supposed to support you. Instead I get a few snarky replies back. When I asked for the results of the CAT scan via KP.org, after happily telling my doctor I would no longer be at Kaiser; and wanted the advice of my new doctor... She refused. I got a referral to Living Well a class in LA. As if she give a care about my well being. Or I would drive into LA for a class! She needs to take a class in bedside manners! It is obvious she has none.
.
I went to the old doctor I had. She ordered all these test when sbe questioned me about my care. I went to the Kaiser office which handles records two weeks ago. Guess what, no medical records as of yet! Why should I be surprised! Thank you Kaiser for nothing you suck!
Reception and ambulatory check in at the 4760 sunset building
Today, December 22nd, 2017 I brought in my mother who's 88 years old to get an Epidural shot in her lower back. We arrived at 6:50 AM for a 7:30 AM appointment.
Upon our arrival I stood at the reception desk where there is also an Ambulatory Check in desk . There were three employees at that check in chatting it up that was clearly not work related. The gentleman, Robert Oliva finally acknowledged me and without asking what I'm there for said reception for appointments arrive at 7:30 AM. I said ok and we took our seats where we patiently. At 7:26 AM a rush of people arrived and immediately got in the Ambulatory Check in line. I thought to myself I wonder if we should have checked into that line? At 7:30 AM Robert Oliva made eye contact with me to let me know that sometimes the receptionist run a bit late. At 7:40 AM the receptionist appeared tardy to work and holding a Starbucks coffee in her hand. Without greeting me, she asked for my mothers Kaiser card. Without any expression and looking absolutely miserable by the way. She says that I need to be in that line over there, the Ambulatory Check In. So this whole time without being asked by Robert Oliva and Roshunda Chappel. (The third employee who was there from the time we arrived was now off work at 7: 00 AM. I know this because as she passed by mother and I she gave a little smirk as she walked out the door).
At this point I'm quite irritated because if only I was asked what I was there for, none of this would have happened. As I made my way to the front of Roshunda's line I was shocked that she did not take any accountability for not having asked upon our arrival why we were there. She was so rude to me and completely ignored the fact that she wasn't doing her job because it was that important to be conversing with her coworkers. Also, I feel it's important for me to say this as well, being Caucasian I think it may have had a little something to do with it because while watching the comings and goings of others for the 30 minutes of waiting I had ample time observing the three employees. There was a definite significance between me and others. I honestly should have taken video so I could have the proof.
Now as we made our way to the second floor with our paperwork there is no signage where to put it. The second floor looks so institutionalized it's creepy. Upon meeting with Marilyn my moms RN nurse she was well aware of what happened to us downstairs that she wanted to make our experience better and she went above and beyond to make sure we left happier than when we arrived. She is a professional to say the least. No one in a medical facility should ever feel such high anxiety where the receptionist sets the tone.
It's awful
I don't know where and whom to complain. It's probably the worst experience I have ever had dealing with customer service. They are too slow and make me wait for about one hour each time I call to make an appointment. It's very irritating and I am very tired of this. I have no idea what problem they have, I always thought that making an appointment is a fast thing and shouldn't take one hour of my life.
You should do something with this. This is horrible.
Doesn't surprise me I worked in their appointment call center and its a joke people have no clue how to do their job and the managers are an even bigger joke and don't have a clue how to do anything thank God I got out when I did that place is a sinking ship can't imagine it being around much longer too many unhappy customers and too many inept employees!
This is the worse insurance company under the sun! They have medical policies that are ABSURD and contradict clinical guidelines...
Heart surgery redwood city kaiser member for over 35 years
My father and mother in law have been with Kaiser since my ex-husband was a child. Over 35 years they have been members. In December of 2016, my father-in-law had open heart surgery at the Santa Clara location. Unfortunately, we were told that the surgery didn't work and that is heart is still operating at 30%. He did everything he was told to do and Since he never regained the ability to taste his food and the fact that he could never get the swelling from his leg and foot, (at one point he was taking 100mg of a diuretic) 10 months after surgery he has stopped eating and won't take his pills. His brain is severely affected by his lack oxygen to the brain as well as the lack of nutrition and he is at 100 pounds. My sister-in-law along with my mother-in-law have called and called trying to get some assistant and his physician referred him to group counseling, where the counselor had to ask him to leave the session stating this was not the place for him. Anyone with half a brain could see he needs to be hospitalized for psychiatric treatment, yet they keep telling us to take him home. Yesterday my mother in law took him again and this idiot told him to promise to eat three meals a day and take his medicine and if he didn't by Friday he would be admitted. He is delusional, weak, I found him just standing and staring. He thinks all the food in the refrigerator is bad and we have to throw it out. He thinks he has gang green in his leg, that he got in his eyes, all he does is follow me around asking me how can I eat that and tell me all his problems. At this point he is afraid to eat, doesn't that idiot doctor realize that? I am in shock at the money this man has put out for his blood tests not to mention all the medication and you people can't-do anything to help him. This is a disgrace. Your whole hospital should be closed down for you inept medical staff. After his surgery, he was under the impression that now and for the rest of his life he can't pick anything up over 10 pounds. The fact that
My father in law has allergies, where he takes all those ridiculous STEROIDs. Before he had the heart surgery he had prostate cancer, then he developed candida so that is what they diagnosed. He lost 35 pounds with the candida, so of course, he thought he had candida again. From the beginning, this man needed a nutritionist. Someone needed to look at all these medications and helped him, instead of the food that would help repair his body the doctor says he can't have green leafy vegetables. No you know what he should have done, take him off of the [censor]in pills so he could eat green leafy vegetables. Give him natural diuretic. you people don't know what you are doing so your just going to let him die. This is sick. The more people find out that the medical industry is just that an industry and not a place to be helped you people will be out of business. What a scam. To think if he never had the surgery I would not have had to live thru 10 months of watching him die.
Nurse behavior
This is just a general complaint of how nurses are representing themselves in the public eye that work for Kaiser. The Kaiser brand is associated with a particular nurse and I think it is unprofessional to publicly conduct or display yourself in a certain way. It reflects poorly on the company and makes me not want to deal with the company as a consumer and possible employee. It appears you will hire anyone. Just like any other professional organization, if you are presenting you work for a certain company you should conduct your self in an appropriate manner if you chose to display your company association and self in a public setting.
Please see links below for a few examples of what one of your employees display (in addition to taking photos of themselves on company time):

Kiser in maryland-curses at you by email. Apparently 3 providers!
Here is an email from Dr Gibert, Kennington Office in Maryland.
background: First off, I don't curse at physicians EVER. I moved here from Colorado in April. As a New Member I have been submitting records trying get continuity of care from Federal BCBS. The pain management transition has been quite poor.
Dr. Gilbert had been very problematic to schedule with. she canceled once 10 min prior with no call. Second effort to see her she booked someone else at my time and never told me. It was confusing and frustrating. I am a 59 year old retired National Park Ranger who speaks politely to physician even when they are unprofessional. I never suggested to Dr Chen or Dr Morris that I would do what she said. I actually told each I would try to see her again. She is apparently the only one in this wide area who can arrange treatment in the chronic pain management program here. Wow, this is your best?
Here is her email to me:

Subject: f/u from Dr. Gilbert
Message body:
Hi, Mrs. Cates, Dr. Chen, one of the pain physician's noted that you may want to f/u with me on the phone for consultation re: chronic pain management. I also noted that Dr. Morris also suggested that.
Would you like to reschedule a time to meet on the phone? Just wanted to double check that you were requesting this, or wanting to f/u on recommendations to f/u w/ me. What do you think?
I may not have any openings left for this week, but if you want to speak next week, let me know your preferences for any specific day or time of day, or call 301.929.7383 and ask for Pain Medicine to reschedule.

appointments
I have schedule appointments to see a Psychiatrist and Counselor due serious things that need to be addressed ASAP. I have been canceled 4 times by the office in San Bernardino. This is getting absolutely ridiculous and now I am pissed. What kind of facility can cancel over and over with no regards to a persons mental health. This can really set an unstable person over the edge. Its been months and I still have yet to receive treatment I am begging for. Does something drastic need to happen before this corporation takes their patients seriously.
Billing
They keep sending me the bill that I paid long time ago by credit card, and neither multiple phone calls, nor sending mail helped to resolve the issue. Now they are threatening me with the collection agency. That's insanity. One phone call should have been enough to resolve an issue like that. And that's not the only issue, it's just the one I am still fighting with at the moment, although I am no longer their client, and I will never ever chose them as my insurance provider again, and I will warn as many people as possible on all the review sites that I can find, to stay away from them.
Bad treatment, not referring me to where I need a surgery done
Here we go again with Kaiser in Panorama City. I have this Varicocele vein problem in my private area. It is extremely painful to have. Its a large vein that has gone bad and it leaks blood into that area and it becomes toxic. I am no doctor but the way it feels now in that area it feels like it is infected in there.
I was checked by their Urology dept back in December and in January and was treated poorly and rudely by the 2 doctors there. They refused to do anything for me and would not authorize a surgery for this. They just told me to take advil or tylenol and take sitz baths. That was ridiculous to tell me that and it did not help at all. Now months later I am in worse pain than ever and can hardly sleep at all.
So I am in contact withe Member Services to get a referral to UCLA medical Center so they can do the surgery for this and I just keep getting the run around meanwhile this thing is getting worse and Member Services says I will have to wait like 14 more days and they want a second opinion. They are just jerking me around and taking risks with my health and I am sick and tired of it. Procrastination on this matter could be putting my life at risk. UCLA has a department that specializes in vein problems and surgeries for this.
So I just sent them a message back voicing my displeasure of this whole matter and said to them do the right thing and help me or I will seek legal counsel and they can talk to them instead of me ! We have rights as patients to go to our Healthcare Organization to get treated with care and with respect not to be treated poorly or with abusive attitudes by doctors or nurses. They dont treat me with respect but out of respect for them I did not post the 2 doctors names here. If anyone wants their names message me here and I will give them to you.
Bad treatment or lack of any
Sometime back I went to see urologists in Panorama City for my varicocele vein problem named the doctors name was Dr Rude Arrogance and was treated rudely by him. I went to see him because I was referred there by the ER for this varicosele vein problem which I still have. While in the room I was talked to with much disrespect and arrogance in a belittling fashion. While during my office visit he left the room for a short while gave me time to think about my bad treatment from him. When he came back I let him have it not accepting his rude treatment of me. After some words finally calmed down and apologized only then was he nice to me and more respectful. He only told me to take the ibupropen that he prescribed and to take warm baths which really didnt help and the pain med he gave me caused a problem for my liver.
Time goes on and my syptoms get worse and more pain and discomfort. So I make appointment with a new urologist not wanting to deal with the guy that was rude to me again. This time I get Dr Bad-Attitude. I get to see him wednesday morning at 7am 01-18-2017. He comes in the room and also starts talking to me in an unfriendly manner. He starts in by saying what are you here for and then he said sarcastically oh you are here for a second opinion. I came to get help not for a second opinion !
He examines me then talk about my symptoms. He then says excuse me and leaves my room for almost 10 minutes. This is where I think he goes and talk to Dr Rude Arrogance and asks questions about me that I am sure of. Of courese Dr Rude Arrogance is not going to say anything good about me because he and I had problems. So when Dr Bad Attitude comes back in the room his attitude is worse than before towards me.
He proceeds to tell me that I see you have been to the ER many times in tha past year and a half and most of your issues are pain related. I am no dummie and I know that he was incinuationg that maybe some of my issues are psychological. The reason i go to the ER is because the walk in clinic is not that good and many times I cannot even get in to see my primary thats why I went to the ER those times. The times I went to the ER also it was after hours or in the middle of the night or on the weekend when my problems happened. And I can assure you that all that is wrong in my body is real and not in my mind, check my records.
Now he then proceeds to tell me that he will not authorize any surgery for the varicosele vein problem just treat it with pain meds and take warm baths. He said that many surgeries do not work and make matters only worse. He also said do not do the surgery for the small hernia that I have. He then said to me oh and another reason I will not authorize the surgery is because if it does not work you will sue us for malpractice and we dont want that at all.
This guy blindsisded me with all this . It happened so fast that I did not have time to react the correct way to him. I just kind of agreed with him and said well then I wont get any surgeries. Meanwhile this pain I keep having is intense and increasing. What is wrong with the Urology dept that you have such rude and condescening doctors working in there that think they can be rude to the patients and accuse them of maybe going to sue Kaiser ?!? Never in my life have I been treated with such disrespect and rudeness. I have rights a patient to be treated fairly with courtesy and respect and compassion. There is no reason any patient who is sick should have to come to their Healthcare Organization and get treated with abuse.
So here I sit now at home writing this complaint and am still in pain and nothing was done about my problems. Am waiting to see the Urology department now in Woodland Hills but to be honest I have lost my of my faith in Kaiser to help me with any of my health issues. It rather funny they are all getting paid to do their job correctly but that is not happening. And they also forget that without their patients no money would be coming in that allows them to get their paychecks ! I filed a grievance at Member Services dept but to this date nothing seems to have been done. No letter sent to me m. like they said they would telling of the progress of my claim.
I also was told by another Kaiser employee that they keep records on the patients file and a rating of good, bad or complains a lot is right there on the computer screen for everyone to see. So as soon as you go to the doctor or the ER thats the first thing they do is pull up your computer file and look at it. So is not a wonder that after the doctors or nurses read that, that probably is why they treat the patient in a poor unprofessional manner. I can tell you one thing, I will NEVER go to the Urology dept in Panorama City ever again !
With this varicocele vein problem it allows blood to leak out and pool in that area and it becomes toxic. I am not sure but if that toxic blood somehow gets back into my bloodstream this alone could be very dangerous for my health. So I just sit at home and wait in all this pain and discomfort. Something could have been done about this many many weeks ago but was not.
Now when I contact member Services about the progress of my case complaint I get emails like this :
Hello James,
Thank you for your message to the website.
Please accept our apologies as we here in Member Services do not have
access to your complaint. We can only direct you to the assigned case
manager Rosana "Doesnt Care". Please contact your case manager at (909)
367-**** for further assistance in regards to the status of your
grievance filed on 1/23/17. Once your concerns are assigned, it is
solely the responsibility of the case manager that is assigned your
concerns to communicate any and all progress to you.
Thank you for being a valued member of Kaiser Permanente.
=====================================================================
Apparently this assigned case handler is doing nothing as I just sit at home and wait as my condition and pain gets worse. Her name is : Rosana "Doesnt Care" ( assigned case
manager ). Ignoring me about all this is not going to make me go away.
===============================================================================
I received another call from someone else in Member Services wanting to talk to me about this complaint. So after a week or more I finally call this person back. We discuss my claim and she said that 2 letters regarding this were sent to me. That is not true I never received one at all. I asked what the letters were about she said they say that concluded that the case is closed. Closed ? How can my case be closed when nothing was done. So I also asked her about Kaiser putting it on our computer records file that we have complained. I told her that 2 kaiser employees told me this and this lady said they were lying lol. I said those employees have no reason to lie in my opinion it is Kaiser that is doing the lying. So to conclude my story nothing is being done about my complaint. Here I sit at home in more pain and discomfort while Kaiser laughs all the way to the bank. She did say that I can still go out to Woodland Hills Urology to be checked but I dont know anymore I have pretty lost faith is Kaiser to do anything at all for me because all my health issues that I have never get properly addressed. Live well and Thrive they say, what a joke !
Patient services
Wife had extreme abdominal pains... Made appt with kaiser doctor in pleasanton at 2:30pm. came in, paid the damn co-payment... Then doctor prescribed her something temp, for the pain. Made her take blood work and prescribed medication for her and released her. wife still had pain an hour later... And the prescribed medication was not for pain but acid reflux!? Smdh. she does not have acid reflux? Wife in more serious pain. had to go back to kaiser this time to emergency, half hour away in walnut creek because of poor a diagnose of a patient (My wife) from a rushing unconcerned doctor! in pain, my wife ask for something to ease pain in the walnut creek e. R because it's just unbareable. nurse just sat her in a chair in triosh. Unattended. wife screams in agony of pain, since not being attended. She wants to leave, and nurse supervisor (Adrian) states"if you need to leave, sorry we couldn't help you". So this will be report and filed! Horrible patient services.
So, from 2:30pm from the time my wife met with the doctor at Pleasanton...til now and counting (9hours has past) my wife is still in major pain and no one is properly competent..to take positive actions for patient...strongly considering changing insurance
Pain management
In 2002 (15 years ago) after many medication trials and errors, my pain management doctor put me on a medication that allowed me to have less pain and live a somewhat normal life.
In 2015 I lost my medication, call my doctor and explained that I had lost them, then the next day I found my meds but the damage was done.
My doctor wrote up a summary on my chart saying that I abuse the substance AND NOW I can not get the only medication I have found that helps me.
I have tried Member Services to no avail.
What do I do?
Can I go outside Kaiser and get them to pay?
Pharmacy
I used to be with Kaiser a number of years ago and reluctantly returned to save money because of my son's college expenses. How do you run such a large business and only have the pharmacy open until 5:30 p.m. or you have to drive 25 miles away to the other pharmacy that is open until 7:00 p.m. AND, both are not open on weekends? If you need to fill on a weekend you have to pay full price at another pharmacy and then submit a claim?! Additionally, twice now I have called in my prescription and rushed to get their before they closed to arrive and find out they aren't ready! Not to mention, I have to pay a co-pay to my primary to get a referral to a specialist that takes weeks to happen. Then pay another co-pay to the specialist. As soon as I can budget in the difference for a different plan, I will switch and NEVER return to Kaiser. Twice with this plan and completely disappointed. Keep in mind, we are a healthy family and don't go to the doctor other than routine visits. This business still lacks the quality it should have regardless of their years in business.
An endoscopy and colonosopy procedure... Lack of proper sedation.
On [protected] . My patient number is [protected]. I was scheduled for an endoscopy as a result of a recent allergic reaction in my esophogus and I requested that a voluntary colonoscopy be done at the same time. I was scheduled with Dr. Mamie Huang Dong, MD at the Otay Lakes, CA specialty center, Department of Gastronomy. Prior to the procedure, I was extremely anxious and afraid. I mentioned that I was very nervous and afraid to the nurses, the doctor and the anesthesiologist the day of the procedure and they said they would do everything they could to make me confortable. I suffer from accute asthma and anxiety and explained this to them as well, indicating that even the placement of the mouth guard will freak me out. They said it was necessary because they couldn't place it property if I was not awake. The mouth guard was placed and I felt something go into my IV. The next things that happened were horrific and in my opinion, dangerous to the patient: I felt the scope going down my throat and I gagged then I felt the scope moving around in my throat. This was not comfortable. Soon I felt a sharp pain in my esophogus and I tried to scream but couldn't because of the mouth guard. I tried to pull out the mouth guard. They held me down and told me not to move that I can't pull that out. They removed it and began the colonoscopy which I felt as well. I feel that I was not treated with the proper amount of sedation for this type of double procedure. I have pain in my esophogus as a result the next day and am taking pain medication. This was not only a painful experience that I felt was completely unnecessary and could have been remedies with proper sedation, but it is a traumatic experience as well. I will never recommend this Kaiser facility nor Dr. Dong.
Kaiser permanente pasadena medical offices - pediatric department
I took my son to our pediatrician today for the 4-month visit, and our visit experience was horrible. Here were what happened, our appointment was 9:15 am and we arrived to the department before that time and used the Self Service Kiosk. However, it was not successful because we had to check-in in person. Yet, no staff was here to manually check in at the pediatric department, so we went back to the family doctor department to check in, and there was a long line of people. We waited until 9:24 am to check in.
1. We waited for about 1 hour with our son, 4 month old an infant. This doesn't seem usual at all.
2. There was no one to help us to check in at the pediatric department at all.
3. I had to ask another nurse regarding to what might be going on with my appointment and asking for our nurse Brianne N Jaynes. And the nurse was kind and helpful, saying to inform our nurse. However, when she walked out to call another patient of hers, she was shocked to see us still waiting outside. She immediately let me in and seek for another nurse to help out. On my way out, we ran into our nurse miss Jaynes. When she was informed we waited outside for so long, her first response was accussing us being late for our appointment for 9 minutes, and she let other patients to see our doctor first. However, she never attempted to inform us the situation was changed, and after she saw we checked in on the system, she didn't try to come out and let us go for next.
3. We were helped indeed by another nurse, who guided us to exam room for my son weight and height measurement instead of miss Jaynes.
I understand that nurses burden a lot tasks and responsibilities on a daily basis and I don't want to make it sound hard on them. but after we had seen Dr. Porter, and miss Jaynes came in with her attitude toward us for my son's 3 vaccine shots, 2 consecutive shots on my son's left thigh and last shot on his right thigh, where it bled. And later the day, we discovered that his thighs were redness and swollen with bump.
Health insurance
This is why I HATE Kaiser Permanente. I left them under ACA, but had to return this year. Have a Lupus Rx I have to refill monthly. Started trying weeks ago. Now basically out. They finally fit me into my former primary care today. Actually had a great, encouraging visit. Even thought they were an hour late seeing me. Then another 30 minutes by which point the Dr had left since it was after 5pm. Pharmacy finally has the Rx, but at retail, which is like $300. Saying they wouldn't pay for it. Mind you, my records indicate that I have filled EXACTLY the pre-reqs they require. Which is why, under the EXACT same health record # in 2015 & earlier it was covered. But their billing dept isn't looking at that, or the scanned documentation that originally facilitated the approval. Even after the pharmacist’s third call where she told them she can see it. KP billing just parrots off that I will have to wait through an appeal process. The poor pharmacist was caught in the middle, and the Dr can't be reached. I AM TIRED, FURIOUS AND DEFINITELY NOT "THRIVING" UNDER KP. Don't get me started about my multi-year battle with them over Sjogren's being medical not dental.
Health care
My mother was hospitalized on december 30 for heart failure.
After being admitted. We were told she had internal bleeding then was told she had a blood clot, then lupus. She never seemed to get better breathing worsened and exhausted and weak was sent home barely could walk. Doctor was insistent that shs was ready to go home after are repeatedly voicing our concerns. She went back to the hospital after 3 days. Terrible horrible care
Dont feel comfortable leaving my mom in there care.. Not a safe place go in. Sick leaving with more issues.. Something needs to be done this health care needs to be shut down...
About a worker yelling at my son
My name is isabel juarez, im at kaiser baldwin park, in 4th floor east with my mother maria juarez, and this lady that i thought it was a nurse, her name is, susan stewart . That she stand in the nurse station and yelled at my 14 yrs old son telling him to get off the other bed in a loud voice, i turn and sed excuses me, and she sed it again but yelling said "i sed get off the bed"
i walk to her at the nurse station and told her, she didnt had to yield at my son, that she could go in the room and let me know, so she had an attitude and told me get him out off the bed . And she walk away . When i told her thats not the way to tell my son, and i sed i need to talk to the nurse supervisor, she got the phone and call someone and hung of the phone and walk away from me going to the other nurse station, and i sed im talking to you . So she left me talking and standing there, until the nurse michele came and she saw me i was upset, i told her what happen and she walk towards the other nurse station and thats when the charge nurse came and walk into my moms room 4010 and sed she was the charge nurse, and i sed im the one that needed to talk to you, so i explain her the situation that susan stewart (the nurse) had yield at my 14 year old son and amy was explaining me why they dont want any person sitting or laying around the other patient bed .
I understand what amy explain me .
But i dont see right that susan stewart yield across the room & get an attitude at me . When i ask amy (charge nurse) that if i could get the name of the nurse that at all this time i was thinking it was a nurse, amy gave me the name and last name and told me she was just a worker and she was going to talk to her, but that i needed to understand that they dont want anyone in the bed or near, i totally understand. I told amy that i didn't feel comfortable with what the worker susan stewart did, and i was going to make a report thats when amy (charge nurse) told me, i will like for someone to take an action about this situation that happened today 12/18/2016 @ 6:45pm
my mom is been in this hospital for the last 9, or 10 days she just got out on 12/14/16 and got admitted on 12/17/16 . This is my number if u decide to contact me [protected]

Kaiser certification of doctors
Just curious as to why it takes so long for Kaiser to certify their doctors.
My primary care doctor relocated to another city. I was not notified of this until I called to schedule my annual physical. Then I was told there was not another doctor that I could see (although 2 had been recently hired) because Kaiser puts the physicians through a rigorous certification process. That was almost six months ago and the physician I chose as my replacement primary care provider is still not certified and I am informed it may take an additional 6-12 months. This is ridiculous! I believe it is a marketing ploy to reroute patients to their specific facilities and physicians. The facility I have utilized is located approximately one mile from my home- why should I have to go 5-10 miles away. It wastes gas- increases my carbon footprint and quite frankly wastes my time as do your continued phone calls asking one to call back only to hear a message that does nothing more than promote the wonders of Kaiser. I already know and appreciate what Kaiser provides.
Also, sure would help if you could update your "find a doctor" pages on the website. During my process of trying to find another primary care physician, I called no less than 23 providers listed in your pages as currently accepting new patients- only to find out that 22 of them were NOT accepting new patients and the one that was, could schedule me with an appointment 8 months out.
Thanks for listening/reading
