I would give negative stars if I could. Beware of off the chart penalties for early withdrawal on Lafayette Federal Credit Union CDs which are hidden when the CD accounts are open. I got a loan from Lafayette Federal Credit Union for $79,500. The monthly payments are $712.15. They've been taking out two payments from my bank account every month since the loan began. We agreed on the 18th for payment, but they've been taking it out on the 5th as well. They're basically charging me double and I can't find a way to stop it on their website.

I been with Lafayette Federal Credit Union (LFCU) since 1967. I use online banking with LFCU since I retired in 1998. I lived in Virginia, Maryland and now Delaware. They changed their system software for online banking about four weeks ago. I can't access my account for the last 3 weeks. I call every day. They say someone will call me back to fix the problem. No one ever calls me back. I got around $40,000.00 or so dollars in my account. My government pension gets deposited in this account. I need my money.

I'm really worried about this organization. I sent a payment to pay off my loan account, which was more than $64,000. They made me wait on hold for more than 40 minutes. The supervisor, "***," didn't seem to know much and didn't take responsibility. They couldn't find my account information, even though they took my monthly payment electronically. After waiting for 40 minutes, *** sent my call back to the main telephone line. Instead of getting back on the phone and sorting out the banking issue, they decided to ignore me. I want either my account to be paid in full according to the loan terms and the 10-day payoff I requested, or I want my money back right away.

I've had nothin but issues with this Credit Union since I became a member. Main source of problems stemmed from settin up AutoPay with them, I went over the process exactly how they told me and then I get a late payment notification in the mail. I've never had a single late payment ever, with anyone... Every time I call I get the same thing, someone will be callin you back within a day or 2 time. That call never comes, so several attempts later I finally get ahold of someone that knows what they are doin and we get my Auto Pay set up for the second time and then I proceed to make a payment before I'm hit with late fees. I'm told not to worry, that the next date comin around my Auto Pay will be up and workin this time. Next month rolls around, Yeah you guessed it, another late payment notification in the mail. Another round of phone calls bein told someone will call me back, website not even lettin me access the website to make an online payment.

Lafayette Federal Credit Union had a data migration over several days at the end of February 2022. They said the site would be back online by March 1st. I started trying to pay off my loan with them on March 1, 2022 at 0830 CST. On March 1, 2022, they asked me to sign up again for an online account to make a payment on my loan. When I tried to make a payment, the system said LFCU now uses two small deposits to confirm that I own the checking account making payments. I signed up my checking account right away and had to wait three days for their small deposits to show up in my ***. During this time, I tried many times to contact LFCU and pay off my loan and close my savings account. I called the credit union more than 10 times on 3/3/2022, and the system either hung up or said the call "Failed to Transfer". Finally, I got through to a person and told them I want to pay off this loan and close all my accounts. They said someone from the loan department would call me within 24 hours. They didn't call. I called them 17 times on 3/4/2022. Finally, I got through to a person and they said the same thing as on 3/3/2022. On the afternoon of March 4th, a supervisor called me and said she agreed that I shouldn't be charged interest from March 1st onwards. She said she would send the recommendation to write off that interest to the loan department. I also emailed the customer service email address 5 times between March 3rd and March 8th, but got no response. Their website finally let me make a payment on Friday, March 4th, but I could only make payments up to $10,000.00 per day. I scheduled a $10,000 payment on 2/4/22, a $10,000 payment on 2/7/22, and then I paid $9,873.14 on 2/8/22. The loan is fully paid off, including interest up to 2/28/22.
