Lawn cutting
As a first time user, i was told over phone when placing order that earliest someone would come out today, Monday 10, 2021. I live in a gated community, got an E-Mail that on Saturday May 8, 2021 that was not able to gain access to community because guard at gate would not let them in and that i would be charged a trip charge and next time they would come would be between May 22-24. Well, they will then at that time will want to charge extra for a taller grass cut. In the past if someone was trying to enter, they would call me or guard would call me to get permission to enter. guard says she does not remember a lawn company attempting to enter on Saturday and if they are already servicing neighborhood, then she would have automatically let them in. this company is very eager to answer the phone to take your order and get payment card information and want to charge you for 1st three services. i have called several times to speak with someone about this matter and e-mailed several times, with no return call or e-mail. Beware! None customer service and communication other than to take the order and payment method. Cancelled service before started
Grass that didn't get cut, and funds was taken out of my bank account.
Lawn starter was supposed to cut my grass on april.25. No one showed up. Nicholas sent me a message, he said his truck broke down. He said I'm going to have to reschedule you. He said I promise to be there at 2:00pm, he still didn't show up. He sent another message may.2, letting me know that he's trying to switch up his route and he told me he went ahead and switched the date to Thursday the 13th- Friday the 14th for a new service date. I told him no thanks, I was charged for service that you didn't do, I want a refund asap.I do not want anyone to schedule a service date for me. Sunday I received a message from Shara, she apologize and she wants to investigate . I can't believe I am having all of these problems with one company. I was also sent a picture of someone else's yard. For the last time, lawn starter did not cut my grass, I have pictures send me the right email and I'll prove it. please investigate this problem and give me my refund.
their love affair with my credit card
I was charged 27.59 on April 3 for yard work. On April 5, I texted and said I am not going to pay in advance for tshi not done. I get a message that they'll get back with me. Whatever. I send a message to them through the app that the yard was not done on April 6 but I was charged and presto! My yard gets done that day!
My bush trim is April 28 and I was charged $56.00 on April 10.
My yard trim is April 19 and I was charged $27.59 on April 10. I've got a screen shot of my app to prove it. I've got security cameras to prove when they come out. I have emailed and left my phone number for them to call me back. I've been waiting over a week for the next customer service representative to call me back. Fast chance in hell. Their boilermaker ‘policy' says they don't charge in advance. However, I'm on a first name basis with m y credit card so I file disputes and get the money back but why should I have to do that?
There's a reason why this company has an F with the BBB.
Desired outcome: stop charging me in advance and apologize like you [censored]ing mean it.
Being charged after the final price was set
I accepted charges when the service was completed and even tipped then days later the charges were doubled. They said it was a long grass fee but my grass was not over the 6 inches and I was charged 100% more. The photos provided are not an accurate representation and the final photos aren't of the same area he claimes were high. I initially gave him a 5 star review before I knew how badly he messed up my property (yes this is my fault, stupid of me for being trusting). This man destroyed 5 of my plants, 2 in the backyard and 3 in the front. He tried saying my grass was long by showing a photo of my bushes which yes I needed to weed but had no part of the lawn. I wanted an explanation about how they could charge 100% more and the customer service guy Aldwin just said the charges won't be reversed and the tip wouldn't be removed. I am disgusted by the both the customer service and the lawnmower. They said it took him time to complete the mowing, yes of course it did I watched him take a ton of breaks and barely spend time cutting. He creeped me out asi saw him just walking around my property not mowing or doing anything else.
Desired outcome: I want to be charged the correct amount
Lawn mowing
Hired to mow a brand new lawn... They broke a good amount of sprinklers, gouged out chunks of the grass and left a bran new beautiful lawn looking like an old beat up lawn. Left huge piles of dead trimmings all over the yard and I had to get it all up and saw all the damage... Horrified at this commonly.. They hide from problems like the rats they are so don't ever start with them
Lawn mowing damage
TLDR: broke two sprinklers and they went into my backyard which was not requested and they cracked the exterior wall glass of my sunroom.
I was looking out the window when I saw the first damage occur and I quickly got on the phone with someone and spoke with "Megan" she kept saying that is why LawnStarter.com has "insurance" and that they would contact me in 72 hours. FALSE. Have not received any email (checked spam as well), have not gotten a voicemail. This happened last week on Thursday. It is March 9th now so that makes it 96+ business hours I have given them to resolve the issue or at least let me know what they intend to do about it.
The idiot that mowed the front lawn was using big machinery and looking at other things instead of focusing on the area he was mowing. People have used big machinery in the past with no problem (I was stupid enough to switch to lawnstarter.com from lawnmowingonline.com because they had an offer that I qualified being a new customer — biggest mistake ever!). So when I saw the damaged part flying off I immediately called their toll free number. I mentioned the broken sprinkler heads and then I asked why they would go to my backyard bc I didn't select that option. She claimed she had canceled my services going forward and that the system 'reverted' back and so it didn't show that I had selected 'front yard' option yard only but was able to confirm verbally over the phone with me that she DID see it when she first accessed my account. As I am on the phone with her and opening the blinds to the sunroom, surprise - the shattered window. I am beyond pissed at this point.
Even if I had read bad reviews I didn't think that anyone could be so possibly inattentive and do so much damage. Lawnstarter just hires out contractors. The company must not be insured because how hard is it to file a claim? Think long and hard before using this company. I have absolutely nothing to say about lawnmowingonline.com except they increased their prices and that is what made me try out another company.
At this point I am contacting the BBB in Austin after learning where they are located.
Lawn mowing
I can't believe the level of incompetence from this company. DON'T USE THEM. At first I thought people just like to complain, well they were right all along. I was charged for services never performed, they were never on time, my services were constantly rescheduled, half of the time the crew didn't even show up, they weren't even fulfilling the complete service they were suppose to do with the mowing, even their "top tier" crew, as they put it, did a crappy inconsistent job. One crew tried to scam me by trying to get me to pay cash vs paying through the app. it took them 3 weeks, 5 different crews, and 8 cancelled/rescheduled service times for just one simple service! DON'T USE THIS SERVICE. TRUST ME. i've never had so much stress and frustration with a company before.
Tree trimming
Hired to trim hedges. Received an online quote of $367. After a few times of hearing it had to be rescheduled due to equipment failure, I got the message from the provider that they weren't hedges they were trees.I was told I would have to resubmit, including pictures for a new quote. I did. I was asked if I wanted down to the gate. I said sure. New quote $757. I accepted.
The came out at 4pm, finished working essentially in the dark. They did a lot. All lower branches going out into the lawn( needed as well). Nothing at all was done with the height. I'll accept the miscommunication, when asked down to the gate, I thought height. Not sure what he thought.
A few days later the debit was taken for over $1200. I took numerous messages to get this corrected. They charged for two services after making me re-submit, they had no issue falling adding a second service. They eventually credited the fraudulent second charge.
I provided pictures of before and after the service. A rep even agreed it didn't look complete .. yet here I am a month later..still with a partial service done, and a run around of responses. Obviously no one looking at the history.. obviously no one ari g about service.
Lawn care
I used Lawnstarter Because my lawnmower was down and I regret it. I set up biweekly cuts and was charged for "long grass" on the last cut. The last person who cut my grass did a horrible job and charged extra. I called to ask them why would they charge me for the grass growing because that's why I needed it cut. If they cut it two weeks ago, I don't understand why there would be an extra charge to me for them not cutting it well the last time. I had to hunt down their number because it's nowhere on their site. They offered me half the charge of the "long grass" fee, which was really the money they owed me for posting their advertisement on Nextdoor. I couldn't make a payment on the site because they only accept ach payments. I'll be posting more complaints than I did recommending them now. Buyer beware. It was more about the principle than the money.
Mowing my lawn
This is the email chain of the only communication that I was able to get through this company lawn starters.
Good morning,
Thank you for not calling me back or responding to my urgent email.
Please cancel this service. I am no longer authorizing you to charge my debit card for your services. This was a bad decision on my part with trusting lawn starter to keep their commitments and follow through with the service I requested. I should have done my research on this company. However, I will be rating this company and making sure that social media is aware of my overall experience with your service. I have basically feel like I have fallen for a man that was so sweat and perfect and after he got what he wanted, in this case sex and in lawn starters case membership, the true person/service was exposed.
I have gained nothing, but a waste of time and fines for not having my grass cut in a timely manner. The time I wasted with this company and the everyday excuses that were made, I could have been finding a better company that will honor my loyalty and their commitments.

My yard grass is extremely long. This is unacceptable as I just received notice from the city. I was scheduled to have my yard cut between 05/29 - and 05/31 which was still past the 2 weeks window and now you are saying that again will be a delay. Why am I not a priority. I need a manager to contact me asap on the number that I provided in my previous message *. Speaking over email is not what I prefer as this is an extremely urgent matter.

Hi lee'toya,
Thank you for reaching out to us. We apologize this may have caused. Unfortunately, no crew claimed your schedule for may 31 to jun 1. We are currently looking for a top quality, reliable crew to take care of your yard. We'll make it a top priority to assign a provider to your account asap, but we may not be able to secure one by the mon, jun 4 to tue, jun 5 that you're currently scheduled for. We we'll make sure to give you consistent updates if there is any rescheduling so that you can prepare. If there is a specific service window outside of your current one that works better for you, let us know and we'll do our best to make that work. Let me know if you need assistance with anything else and i'll be glad to help. Thanks!
Best,
Mitch
Lawnstarter team
Good afternoon,
This email is to request an explanation as to why it has been going on 3 weeks from the last time my lawn was cut. When I signed up for this service over 3 weeks ago, the understanding was that someone would come and cut the grass on a bi - weekly basis. When the two weeks came and gone, I checked my email and received a new quote stating the time phrase would be from 05/29-05/30. It has been almost 3 weeks and I am on the verge of receiving a notice fining me if my grass is not presentable.
In addition, I attempted to contact customer service via phone for the past 3 days and I have been quite unsuccessful. I even left two separate messages and have received no return calls. This is unacceptable as I was easily able to speak to someone when I wanted new service provided. However, I did speak with a representative in your sales department and he stated that the calls center was swamped because of new members attempting to register with the company. What is very frustrating is that this lawn starter company was here to assist me in the sales department and when it comes to new members, but the company is disregarding its current membership and not providing the service expected and deserved.
Please assist me with this information as I am ready to look for a more reliable lawn care company. My expectation are that when necessary, I am able to community more efficiently and that I don't have to wait or remind anyone that my grass is ready to be cut.
You may reply to this email, or contact me at *. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Thanks,
Lee'toya
Don't order services online – you will get nothing
I was really disappointed in the services of www.lawnstarter.com. I ordered their services through the website, but they only took deposit from me and that’s all. I waited for any info, but nothing. After that I contacted them and asked about my order, and they excused and started to provide some excuses, blah-blah. I believed them and again got nothing. These people are scammers and liars, who take money and provide nothing. Please post your comments about this company.
Scam! Beware of awful and subpar service. The provider cut twice my lawn and twice he damaged my property. There is no customer support and I was overcharged despite the property damages. This is a joke and a scam. Avoid hiring at all costs.
worst company I have ever dealt with.
Unprofessional Landscapers.
Never show up when they say they will be there and cancel multiple times week after week
Was quoted $69 for bush trim on my property. I received notice they had completed the work. Came home and literally nothing was done. Checked my account they charged me $300! To do nothing! I complained… sent before and “after” pictures…. They credited me $15….. do not be scammed by these people and their very very sub par company
The company charged me $113.00 for a job they didn't complete i.e. mowing, clean up after mowing and trimming the hedge on both sides of the driveway (only 2 bushes were trimmed on the driveway and the others were not trimmed at all). What they did do was trim the hedge on my back porch and the 6 bushes that are in my back yard next to the fence not associated with my driveway (WHICH I NEVER EVEN MENTIONED ABOUT THEM IN ANY FORM OR CONVERSATION VIA EMAIL). I offered to pay for the lawn mowing but apparently they didn’t want just that money. They never cleaned up the grass and leaves on the walkway as indicated on their site after mowing.
I have all the paperwork, all the emails, and all the pictures which I am forwarding to my attorney and NBC 5 Responds. Companies like this are a real sham and need to be stopped. They were recommended by someone on Next Door Meadowbrook and I will see to it that what happened to me does not happen to anyone else. Another thing, they don’t even have a telephone number to call? I don't see one and they never called me personally so I guess they don't have one. Another sham for a company. There form of communication was via 12 emails back and forth between me and the company.
So the way I understand, they want to be paid for a “job they didn’t complete as promised (clean up after mowing) and trimming of hedges (which I didn’t even mention on my back porch and backyard). So I would assume that they just trimmed any hedge that was available so they could get paid?
I’ve had great luck with LawnStarter for two seasons now. They Mow, Trim and blow off all hard surfaces. Their App is convenient and they are very responsive to messages. Plus you can adjust frequency from weekly to bi-weekly or skip mows and quit whenever you want after third service since they give you the first one for $19. They notify before the mow via email and immediately after it’s mowed asking for feedback such as praise, quality, problems or concerns. It’s flexible and quality work for the price point. I pay $33 for my yard. VJohhn is incorrect, LawnStarter doesn’t charge anything until after the lawn care is complete.
Stay away from this nefarious company! They promised to have 5 different contractors arrive in a 2 week period to cut our lawn. They never showed up! Now the lawn is atrocious and the customer service "lip service" did not resolve this issue. Cancelled and going with a reputable firm that will actually show up and perform the services we agreed too.
I started with the weekly service in June and they did an okay job for the first month, then everything went crazy - I went through 4 different crews as the crews didn't show up for the set window or didn't do a good job or the crew actually went to the wrong address and cut someone else's lawn! Supposedly Lawnstarter discussed with the crews what happened but nothing was ever communicated to me, they just assigned a new crew... and new problem. As of August 29th I have not had my lawn mowed in over three weeks, despite customer service reassigning the service. Customer Service can only pass a notice to the "assurance team" or "managerial team" and promise they will follow up with the customer, which never happens. Customer Service can also schedule additional services (like long grass cutting or bagging the clips, since my lawn is over two feet high) but if a crew doesn't pick up the job, nothing happens. Also, these services are at additional cost - to get them covered by the company, another department needs to weigh in. If I did not call them to check up, I did not get any information. I do not recommend you use this service - it can go well initially, as they have access to multiple crews but when it goes wrong, it goes WAY wrong. I'm now looking at spending over $200 to have my grass cut, not to mention what other issues may arise from letting the grass get this long. I would have changed company sooner, but I wanted to believe they would address the issues and I've been traveling so not able to be home to locate a single guy with a mower.
I recently contacted LawnStarters for services. Everything seem to be what I was wanting in a lawn service. However once my billing information was provided. I received an email with information regarding fees that was not provided to me before hand. If I had received this information first. I would not have provided billing information or agreed to their services at all.
I was quoted that it would be $45. To mow & trim the lawn. I asked for biweekly service. I did state & was only aware of a long grass fee. Which I knew was extra. I asked about weeding services & was told that would be taken care of on the 2nd visit. That sounded reasonable. Here's what is wrong & was not provided prior to my decision.
There is a $50. per hour fee per crew member with a minimum of 2 crew member team & a 2 hour minimum charge. I was not informed of a 3 service requirement & no mention of the cost of cancellation of your account if you do so.
These facts should have been given so as to make a complete informed decision. They were not & now the company is trying to claim I owe them these dees when I cancelled their services 3 days before the scheduled date of first service it was the sane day I signed up with them . no services have been performed and they should be trying to collect for work on a closed / cancelled account
