do not purchase anything through living social is my recommendation
HORRIBLE COMPANY - FALSE ADVERTISING! I have purchased 4 Living Social Advertisement Vouchers for various offers and have had problems with ALL 4.
1st one – kept cancelling appointments – took me 4 times and having to get rude to get them to keep the appointment.
2nd one was a gift for friends and when they went the facility was CLOSED DOWN AND CHAINED UP
3rd one – It has taken 3 months of stress and again having to get rude to get an appointment set up – we’ll see if they show.
4th one – Is this one
I want my money back. The deals are FALSE ADVERTISING and the stress and time I am taking in the mornings, on lunch breaks, in the evenings and week-ends to use them is not worth any advertised savings if they ever respond.
HORRIBLE COMPANY. This is the 2nd time this has happened with LIVING SOCIAL! FALSE ADVERTISING! I purchased a Living Social coupon in March 2012 for Adler's Contracting and have been leaving messages for them to contact me on the phone number provided as well as multiple e-mails. NO ONE has responded to my many, many calls and multiple e-mails to schedule the advertised offer for painting and the coupons expires in Sept. BUYER BEWARE! WITH THIS COMPANY AND LIVING SOCIAL. I have also been contacting Living Social who refuses to refund my money, claims they will contact me back and never do, I finally started keeping written names and dates of who I've spoken with and as of today my 3rd call to them they still refuse to refund my money. DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING THROUGH LIVING SOCIAL is my recommendation.
return policy is a scam
BUYERS BEWARE! Return policy is a scam! I ordered ceramic dishes on Aug 1, 2012 - after 10 days and receipt I called (good luck getting a human) and the lady told me that in the fine print the item didnt ship out until after the 16th! I didint recall that, but there was no proof of my purchase on my account - all I had was an order confirmation, confirming thye were happy to charge my card. And they did. Today I called back and told them to forget it - I just want my money back, the excitement is gone. But I was informed that I would have to wait until the purchase was shipped to my house, then reuqest a return slip and pay to return it MYSELF! Keep in mind this stuff hasnt even been shipped TO ME yet! Beware.
voucher not honoured - refused to refund
I purchased a voucher from LivingSocial. The deal wasn't honoured and the LivingSocial team uses every argument imaginable, whether it makes sense or not, to not face their responsibility as vendor of the voucher to refund the money.
Basically they make you wait on hold every time their argument is rebutted, until you get so tired of the process you just hang up. I've never been treated this bad as a customer. Save yourself a lot of frustration and money and stay away from them. You may be lucky and have a good deal, and you may be unlucky like I was and apparently most of the other reviewers and spend money on something that doesn't materialize.
LivingSocial offered a "Deal" 2 movie tickets with Fandango for 9.00. Paid the money, printed the voucher. Hung it on my bulletin board. Went back much later to redeem. Fandango only redeemed 4.50 savings for one ticket. LivingSocial told me the deal had "expired" and I was only entitled to the original purchase price in savings...which after paying convenience fees was really not much savings at all. Customer service person "Jillian" said there was nothing they could do. My voucher had NO EXPIRATION DATE listed on it. They said that was somewhere in the original terms and conditions. After much time on the phone with them and with Fandango, no satisfaction.
Foolish customer service. Making the deal "right" would have been a small price to pay to amaze and delight this customer. Instead, they've given me a mission to spread the word far and wide--don't trust LivingSocial and their "fine print" and don't trust Fandango...THIS DEAL WAS NO DEAL! Avoid both companies--get your tickets with discount coupons in the entertainment book or via discounts from costco or AAA. Don't get caught by this faux "deal!"
I got a gift and needed to cancel it because the merchant would not respond to my request for reservations. LS won't let me cancel the gift myself and insists I tell the person that gifted me to cancel it. Embarrassing all around. I don't get a gift, the giver feels bad and the merchant is off the hook. Don't use LS for gifts.
they lie to you, their customer service sucks
I am a small business owner of an auto repair shop, it is just myself and my boyfriend that own it and run it, no employees. Living Social contacted me asking about my recent deal with a different site and talked me in to running a deal with them. They told me I couldn't choose which service to run a deal on, they would choose for me, so they did. They then talked up their direct deposit option for receiving my portion of what sells, they said it would be direct deposited in to my account no later than 6 days after the deal... the deal ran on July 20th, it is now August 10th.. NO MONEY IN MY ACCOUNT YET. I have been calling the customer service line for the past 8 days, no one picks up, or if they do, they transfer me to someones voice mail and I never get a call back. I'm about 1 more call away from having my lawyer contact them for stealing my money.
In addition, I have been warned by three other business owners in the area that my credit card will more than likely incur fraudulent charges in the next week or so. I will NEVER run another deal with Livingsocial, it is actually amazing that they haven't been shut down yet... They are true CROOKS.
Bottom Line: They lie to you, their customer service SUCKS. They steal your money.
fraud
Bought a voucher for a carpet cleaning service and it turns out the service does not exist. the phone number they gave me was to a private citizen's cell phone. A guy that never heard of the service.
I called Livingsocial.com, waited on hold for an hour, to try and get a refund and they refused, stating it was "policy". Their policy is to defraud customers and then shrug their shoulders when they are caught? I hope their CEO gets sent to prison!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

I endured a very negative cleaning experience from a company misrepresenting themselves as Stanley Steemer. This company has been using a technique to redirect internet traffic. When a customer googles san diego carpet cleaning or similar, a well known carpet cleaning company shows up on the first page. The phone number associated with the well known company listed on the Google map is "somehow" replaced by a phone number owned by (see link xxxx)The company answered "Carpet Cleaning"(no name). I asked the name and they said "where did you see our ad?" I said under "Stanley Steemer" they said yes they were "Stanley Steemer"and made the appointment. After Coming to my home in a truck labeled (see link xxxxxxx), I questioned the company's name again. I was told they were "Stanley Steemer " and I agreed to have the work done. My receipt was printed with (see link xxxxxx). I later found out this is a piggyback type scam. I spoke with someone calling himself the owner xxx see link
SCAMS!: The truth is, is that this is a well thought out business model, an extortion scheme to be avoided. The main feature is preying on you at your weakest moment. The Carpet Cleaning Upholstery Cleaner scams involve "Bait and Switch" Up-selling and Fraudulently redirecting internet traffic. Once you make the appointment, you are encouraged to move your furniture. The Carpet Cleaner arrives and promptly informs you that your carpet is so filthy that the normal cleaning won't work. The "cleaner" knows you've moved the furniture and have possibly taken off from work. He knows you are eager to get the carpet cleaned. The 49.00 deal goes up 100% while the guy bluffs, that he's going to leave. Our elderly are especially vulnerable to this scam. News Flash! It's not Green or Anti Allergy . They use the same carpet solution you buy at Home Depot. Redirecting intent traffic by hijacking Google search phone numbers and replacing them for short periods of time.Who is responsible? Top Spot Me topspotme.com These Companies have NO repeat business .So many people have left Bad feedback and Negative reviews, they have no recourse but to hide behind Valupak, Groupon, Amazon Local Deals and Living Social.

Locksmiths: they promise 19.00. They know you are locked out and vulnerable suddenly the price becomes 200.00-300.00 or more for 5 minutes work. This tactic takes full advantage of the elderly, women or anyone locked out of their cars and homes in the dark. The scary part is these people are NOT licensed, they can easily come back and open the door when your not home.
Air Duct Cleaning: No matter what the condition of you air ducts are, these companies will declare them filthy and the cause of your illnesses. This is a total scam taking advantage of ill people, desperate to feel better. They often go so far as to recommend complete Air and Heating system replacements and or "Chemical Treatments".
Orogold ORO Gold: once again, taking advantage of women looking for a magic wrinkle cream, they extract large sums of money from the vulnerable.
Moving Companies: When you're moving your worldly goods across town or across the country, you're most vulnerable. With this type of business you will find your estimate will quadruple.
Contracting Contractors Home Repair Remodelers Handyman: When you trust someone to tear your house apart and put it back together again you're extremely vulnerable. This type of company will take full advantage and in all cases the price swiftly rises as new "problems" are discovered. Towing: Same old scam. Your car has broken down, you're vulnerable. It's probably at night. This is were this type of business flourishes.
Water Damage: Water Damage is another popular business with them. It's an emergency and they happily take advantage of you at your worst moments. Bed Bug: Another Repeat. . .They say you have bed bugs even if you don't and they "treat" and get paid!
SEO Search Engine Optimization: They use illegal methods to move traffic to your website . I know of a "google phone number switch " they also piggyback on an existing website or redirect traffic from a legitimate website to their site. I tried reporting this activity to google but they was no way to report it.

no service received (paid) - avoid this company
Regarding Chisholm Trail Rides merchant that selling coupon for service thru LivingSocial: called this merchant to redeem the paid voucher no less than 10 times in the course of 2 months, left many voice messages, there was not a single return from them. I called LivingSocial to report the issue, the rep on the phone told me there were several complaints (same issue), then advised that LivingSocial will investigate and let me know. Never received any follow up from LivingSocial. I now sent a refund request and got a email response said there was no similar incident, there would be no refund, and asked me to contact merchant. It's such a lie from LivingSocial telling different story for not refunding me. I feel like it's a scam from both LivingSocial and your merchant trying to get the money and provide no service. AVOID Living Social.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
don't touch these crooks
They are crooks. They have charged me for a more expensive deal than I booked and despite the fact that I have the email confirming my £32 spend with them, they ahve charged me £49 and won;t admit that they are wrong. 16 emails to them...2 replys telling me I booked the £49 deal. I;ve sent them back their own email but it seems they can't read. DON' TOUCH THESE CROOKS. I don;t know why they don;t udnerstand how quickly poor customer service spreads - I;ve spend the last hour on sites telling people and have put everyone off using them at work.
false advertising
Purchased three tickets for the soccer game at Fed Ex field May 30, only to discover they were for Standing Room Only, No where in their ad did it state they were not for seats. in fact, in the fine print, it explained that if you want "seats together" you had to buy them all at the same time, Terrible, false advertising and Living Social claims I just misread their ad. Did nothing at all about it,

I bought a restaurant voucher through ls which the restaurant refused to honor
I bought a restaurant voucher through LS which the restaurant refused to honor. LS advised us that they did not refund money but would credit the full amount for future use and emailed us to the fact they would not use our credit card details and instead deduct the amount from my credit with them (Deal Bucks)...you've guessed it, when I bought a further restaurant deal they debited my credit card. I have now emailed them 3 times and they do not reply either by email or phone so where do I go from here? I have had good relationships with similar types of social media sites but this company is ignorant, dishonest and not to be trusted. "BUYER BEWARE" do not deal with Livingsocial...any idea's where I can go from here...please advise.
do not order this voucher through living social for forever canvas, sheffield, manchester
Do not order this voucher through living social for Forever canvas, Sheffield, manchester! Customer service is non existent! They claim on website delivery within 7-10 days online / phone orders or 4 weeks for discount voucher orders. I ordered with a living Social voucher 14 weeks ago, still no canvas! After chasing several times for an update on my order received a very blunt response to the effect of if i'd have paid full price for this item I would received a higher level of service from them!
I just had to cancel 2 vouchers with living social for this vendor.
Once I came to redeem them, their online system mysteriously wouldn't accept my vouchers - though it would have allowed me to make a full-price purchase if I hadn't been paying attention! Obvious 'accidentally didn't work' type scam, avoid these people and living social deals for your own good!
Forever Canvas were rude in their response to my query, just to add a bit of insult to the injury. Idiots.
Yes I agree, I ordered in November and still no canvas am very upset with Living Social too but have use them previously with no problems, so perhaps it's just the merchants fault?
won't be using their company again and would advise anyone against making the same mistake
I bought a voucher through Living social for discounted window cleaning. When I contacted the window clearing company to use the voucher they told me that their catchment area didn't include Twickenham, When I pointed out to them that their website clearly indicated that our area was included in their domestic catchment area they told me that the information displayed on their website was incorrect and hadn't been updated for 2 years (as they hadn't had time to do so. !)
I then emailed livingsocial (who promise refund within 7 days) to explain the situation asking them to refund the money I'd paid.. Their website promises a "prompt reply" to any queries and yet after sending them 3 emails and waiting 4 days I've had no response from them...so won't be using their company again and would advise anyone against making the same mistake.
Absolutely disgusting company. I bought a deal that was fully booked months before the expiry date. I was told to try for cancellations by the provider .Eventually a month before the expiry date I was advised by them to ask for a refund from LS for they were not able to provide the service. I have written to Living Social seven times over 3 months but had no answer until eventually I got a response 3 and a half months later:
'We apologise for the delay, however it appears that the merchant gave you incorrect information as are refund policy is as below:
We’re sorry that this deal didn’t work out for you and understand that you would like us to refund your voucher. Unfortunately, we are unable to extend you a credit card refund or Deal Bucks credit because your request is outside our refund policy.'
'Unfortunately as your voucher is subject to availability then the voucher is redeemable so even if the merchant is fully booked on certain dates but then not on other, we would expect customers to use the voucher on these dates as the voucher is subject to availability and this is a term customer agree to when they purchase a deal. If the merchant is fully booked and has no availability left, the unfortunately as your voucher is subject to availability and this is a term customer agreed to when purchasing the deal, then it may mean that you lose out on the deal.'
In other words a deal is a gamble. As it happened the merchant was fully booked months ahead and his availability was not in line with the number of deals sold. LS then is in the opinion: tough luck we take your money but we told you lose it even if the merchant cannot honour their promise. That is simply called 'availability'. He is not available ...you lose your money. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS COMPANY !
I've had an awful time with them too. I bought a deal for an activity for two people and got the confirmation email from them. But they charged me for four people which was a more expensive option on the same deal. I have emailed and emailed...even sending them a copy of the confirmation email which they sent me. Amazingly they just keep telling me that I booked the more expensive option. I open the email they sent me and read it...and can't understand how they can't understand! Can't anyone read at Living Social?
Originally I just wanted the extra money they took from me back and to use the deal for two people but now I want a full refund. I've had patronising emails telling me that I should be patient..and two emails telling me that I booked the more expensve deal.
Nearly a month now and they still haven't learnt to read the words ' Deal for two people - £32' Completely useless.
I won't give up and am now contacting newspapers and forumsspreadingg the word about how useless they are and persuading people not to touch them. Don't these people know how infectious bad customer service is?
They are awuful. Was buying from them for a while, but had a problem with one of the deals, they were basically covering the cost, as it appeared that to get that deal I had to pay at least 10 pounds extra. When phoned for refund, conviniently was cut off a few times, after that promissed to be contacted by the manager to solve the problem, at the end got email from unknown sender, that if I am not happy with the deal I can give it to someone as a present. Whan a joke. Non of my money ever going to that company again.
I've had a similar issue with LS. I bought and gifted some house / carpet cleaning and when attempting to book this with the vendor (it took several attempted to get them to just answer the phone!) I was told that the only way they will book it in is if I tell them where I live and they will tell me when they can come wih just a day or 2 for notice. No flexibility with this either. The booking conditions on the deal clearly stated that the only condition was a 48 hours cancellation policy. I have sent 5 emails to LS and have had no response. NEVER EVER using this service again!
living social's daily deals are scam
Bought a maid service ($30) back in November then in June I went to use it. Called the company to use it and they said “we are booked up for the year, give us your name/number and when an opening comes up we will call you”. I called Living Social back and told them this (my voucher expires in November) and they said they would refund my money. I said I don’t want the money I want the service. They said they would look into why the company would sell more vouchers than they could handle and refunded my money (whatever).
TODAY, the SAME deal is selling for DOUBLE the price and I was like WTF they couldn’t fulfill my voucher for $30 and now they are selling them for $60! I called Living Social and they were like “too bad so sad” we refunded your money. I even got the direct number to apparently the head person who was like too bad so sad.
I cannot believe the freaking company wouldn’t accept my $30 because they were “full” and now they are selling the EXACT same thing for double the money. Obviously they have people available and just didn’t want to do mine because they sold it so cheap.
they are a ridiculous company and I will never buy anything from them again
I purchased a coupon that expired 4/21/12. I tried to redeem it 4/6/12 and the company had no more "available" time and wouldn't honor that gift certificate. I contacted living social for a refund (it "expired" early for all intents and purposes) and they said no twice. So I had to go back to my credit card company and do a charge back etc. I didn't buy a coupon that expired on 4/6/12, I bought one that expired on 4/21/12. They are a ridiculous company and I will NEVER buy anything from them again.
my suggestion is stay away from this company in general
I’m actually a vendor that was contacted by Living Social on three separate occasions. First was by Danielle Rutkin to discover she wanted to promote my business in which she had no idea what it is that my company does. She never got back to me and can’t reach her. Then I was contact by Gary Kiena or Gary (Bodi) Kiena. Said he would contact me to send me contract for promotion. Again, no follow up and cannot be reached. Keep in mind that these people sought me out to do business. My newest contact is Lindsay McNary. Is turning out to be the same. These are some of the most unprofessional people I have ever dealt with in my professional career. My suggestion is stay away from this company in general.
this is bait and switch, stay away
I bought a voucher for Five Star Cleaning for 3 hours of cleaning service at a cost of 45.00. I moved from my home and had it pre cleaned. When I called to make the appointment the lady said because I moved she would have to charge me an additional 20.00 charge. There was no mention of an additional charge on the voucher. This is bait and switch. I told her there is not even 3 hours of work here may be just 1.5 hours. She did not care. I could not find a record of her business license, not saying she does not have one but she in not listed with sunbiz.org. I called living social and they were nice enough to refunded a credit for my 45.00...I have had excellent experiences with living social up until this. I do not hold living social accountable they were very good about it. It is the cleaning lady scammer.
a total of 90 minutes on hold
I buy from Groupon and other deal sites frequently. When I've experienced a problem with a purchase from Groupon, I've never had a problem. I get customer service quickly, they're pleasant, they always refund the cost back to my credit card, even if it's past the refund expiration date. As a result, I keep buying from them.
With Living Social, twice I've encountered problems with a deal and it takes forever to get someone on the phone -- and then the rep is puzzlingly obstructive. Even when, as today, the vendor tried to charge me a higher rate when he found out I was a LS customer. He upped the price of an item by $200 to eradicate what should have been my savings. I thought LS would be outraged by this behavior but instead their rep tried to justify the vendor's behavior. On top of that, I was on hold for 30 minutes and was disconnected 3 times before I finally got the issue handled. A total of 90 minutes on hold. The supervisor was equally obstinate and unhelpful.
There are so many other deal sites that actually offer customer service. Why would anyone deal with Living Social? With plans to go public soon, you'd think this company would be trying a little harder to please their customers. Or -- trying AT ALL would be nice.
bad customer service
I bought a deal.
The provider hasn't delivered and won't return my emails.
Living Social also won't return my emails now that I'm trying to ask for help / refund.
Not impressed.
LivingSocial places customer service at the very heart of our business and we strive to ensure members and partners alike benefit from a great experience with us.
We are, of course, extremely disappointed to hear of instances where LivingSocial hasen't lived up to the high service standards we set for ourselves. In the specific cases of Elizabeth Ludlow and Reece George, both parties have received a full refund, and a personal apology from Peter Briffett, Managing Director of LivingSocial UK and Ireland.

Subject: faulty item
Hi, I purchased a fm transmitter and Just received it.
The purchase is an expert fm transmitter. order number 371994.
The product is meant to fit into an Iphone, however it lacks the clips on either side of the fitting which holds it in place. Therefore it will not stay in the phone.
Every device made to fit the iphone has these clips.
Please acknowledge this email and advise on return policy and refunds available including postage.
it defeats the purpose of purchasing discounted products if they dont work and you have to spend time and money complaining
and returning the items.
regards,
John Finnegan

keeps sending emails & difficult to unsubscribe
What a hassle! I constantly receive emails from Living Social and decided to unsubscribe, but unlike other email senders which have an unsubscribe button at the bottom of their emails, Living Social requires a person to first open an account with them! After giving personal information, supposedly one is allowed to "hide" their subscription. This should be illegal that Living Social requires one to open an account just to get off its email list. Unsubscribing from receiving an overwhelming number of emails from this group should not be so difficult! Does anyone know how and to whom I can report this? Thanks!
Hello, Would like you file a class action lawsuit ? livingsocial sell used phone to me and removed my account after file a PayPal a complaint.
I have been trying to unsubscribe from living social for weeks. You click the unsubscribe then it asks you for a non
Existent voucher code. Almost impossible, dreadful service. I just don't want their emails any more.
Agreed they send about 2 emails a day and if you are like me who checks their email once a month you come back to ~90-100 emails from livingsocial. It's ridiculous that such a big company has to rely on such persistent email marketing. Maybe don't trick users into opting into email subcription. Greedy Idiots.
living social is a bad company to do business with
The customer service at this place is horrible. They will sell you a voucher and if you have problems redeeming them, they will not refund your money, only give you a credit for more bad deals from them. I was actually given these livingsocial bucks for a "refund" once, but they never appeared in my account. Still working on getting them.
They do nothing to vet the companies they sell vouchers for, I have also bought several coupons that I could not redeem as the company they were for closed.

I know how to get the money back. The best way is to file a Small Claims action. Any other lawsuit is easy for them to brush off, but with a small claims suit, they CANNOT use a lawyer! Therefore, someone from Living Social will have to show up and defend. They won't and you will win by default EVERYTHING you ask for.
However, there are other ways before going to that extreme. Like, calling the customer service line. it's [protected]. Other numbers are [protected] and [protected]. They will put you through to customer service. Choose option 1 and wait for it to finish. it will tell you to hold if you did not get your answer. Then, you'll be on hold for about 5 to 15 minutes, but someone WILL come on. Explain your situation. THEN, explain what it is you think you have to do to get your money back. If they do not take care of it, small claims is the answer.
Did you call Living Social for a refund and the complaint? I just contacted them for a situation myself and know how to get the money back. Hit me up at filmdad3@gmail.com for info!
