avoid these slumlords at all costs
Apartment rental is not an simple thing. I found this out the hard way when I rented an apartment from Lobos Management on Centre Ave. I probably should of know superior based on my own personal intuition, but at the time it wasn't there simply because I knew nothing about Lobos Management beforehand. First of all, the apartment was listed as a one bedroom, which really turned out to be a less than spacious studio apartment for $650 a month. There was no way that the decrepid and utterly nightmarish could possibly worth so much on a monthly basis. THe first two months living there weren't that terrible. But then after the second month, the actual apartment started to deteriorate. Water started to seep in from the ceiling which then caused the walls of the apartment to grow mold. The mold caused the paint to bubble then flake off, causing numerous health and respiratory problems for myself. Then, the ceiling started to cave in in a small section of the apartment. On top of all of this, there were problems with the hot water shutting off, which caused me to not be capable to bathe, shower, or clean my dishes for a couple of days. By the time all of this happened and the apartment completely went terrible, I was near the end of my six month lease and it sadly didn't matter anyways. I had already been ripped off by my landlord and calling them wouldn't of fixed anything anyway. By the time I had heard about Lobos Management, it was too late. I had really read all the complaints about Lobos Management and found out about how terribly they treated their tennants. It was the worst living situation I ever had living in Pittsburgh and I'll never rent or do business with anyone from Lobos again! I advise all of you reading this to avoid these slumlords at all costs!

OMG they are such shady ###! Those pieces of ### ignore your complaints and don't fix anything. They also walk into your apartment whenever they want to show the place, whether you like it or not. I hate them.

unfair water bill
We received a letter stating we would be charged for water used in the building. The charge would be calculated by the number of bedrooms not the number of people living in each unit. This is very unfair to anyone living alone. A one bedroom apartment with a with single occupant would be charged the same as a one bedroom apartment with a couple or family. Certainly the apartment with a couple or family would use double or more water that an apartment with a single occupant. This situation is grossly unfair but it is consistent with how lobos management seems to do business. I would suggest researching this company on the internet before renting or doing business with them.

security deposit
Moved out of apartment they said I did not clean certain things but I did so they took it out of my security deposit the security deposit was $ 465.00 they sent me $35.00 before I moved in I was in a housing program the lady did a walk thur she wrote down the rugs hade stains and spots they said I messed up the rugs, they deducted money and said I did not clean the frig well the frig was mine and when I moved out I took it with me I left that place cleaner than it was when I moved in they claim to have pictures of the way the placed was left messed up well I do not know were they took these picutures but it was not the place I lived in anybody that came to my house will tell you I kept my house clean why would I not leave the place clean nowing they had my money and I wanted my securityy deposit

I wish I had seen all the negative reviews about Lobos management, I sure would have never rented from. I rented a unit in their Kensington terrace property on doyle road, and from day one I had a problem. The apartment was filthy and had not been cleaned. I called them, wrote a letter and filled a form detailing everything that was wrong with the apartment. But guess what, that form is of no use because they still refuse to give me my full security deposit. They have the audacity to charge for a stained oven, when the whole oven was greasey and had burnt food stuck to it when I moved into the apartment. Public beware of these unscrupulous landlords! They are robbing people in broad day light. Apart from their crappy apartments, they have the most obnoxious, rude and incompetent staff on earth. The first winter I stayed there, I had no heat. I called them every day for more than 3 weeks and no one would come to fix my heat. I wrote a letter threatening to vacate the apartment and when that did not work, I had to contact a lawyer who threatened them with a law suit. And that is when they came to fix my heat. All the reviews about them are 100% true. Do Not RENT From Them!

I rented an apartment at Friendship Court in Bloomfield On October 15, 2009 until September 30, 2010. During the time I lived in my apartment, the only problem is that one of the dryers in the laundry did not dry clothes and it took about four months of the tenants complaining before it was finally repaired, and during the February snow storm the property was not cleared of the large amounts of snow that fell for days. The real problem came when I informed Lobos Management that due to my handicap I would not renew my lease and move to a more accessible apartment. My lease expired on September 30, 2010 and I gave Lobos Management 60 days notice as required in the lease. I moved on September 29, 2010. When the keys were turned in a form with the mailing address for the security depost was submitted as required. By October 29, I did not receive my security deposit. I called Lobos Management. I was told that since I did not give their office a forwarding address my deposit was sent to the address that I moved from, their property. I told them that that would be okay since I had a forwardng address submitted at the Post Office and that I would get the mail. A week later on October 3, I again called Lobos Management regarding my security deposit and I was told that everyone was in a meeting. this was at 9:00 a.m. I called again at 3:00 p.m. and was told again that everyone was in a meeting. I left several messages with both my home phone number and work number. I never received a call. I then informed Lobos Management that I would file a complaint with the local Magistrate. The thing that bothers me is not that I am a middle age women on a low income and I gave them $625.00 for a security deposit, but that everytime I spoke to the person at Lobos Management I could hear almost a laughter in their voice and they spoke to me in a low voice that was very mocking. THESE PEOPLE ARE EVIL. The economy is bad and most everyone is suffering. They think it is funny to hold back money that is due to you. DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE!

terrible place to live
I'm not even sure where to start but just another heads up for anyone looking for a place to rent. Everything (Of course the bad reviews) you've read so far either from this site or another is 100% true. They are the lords of slums so to say. Please don't ever ever get tempted by the looks of some of these apartments. It's simply not worth it. The reality of living in these apartments will torment you until you leave that place. Everything from the management to the employee working for these are rude and cruel. Anyway, i've so many complaints about lobos.. That I simply don't want to recall but the bottom line is do yourself a favor and never ever rent from lobos. Fyi: I live in chateugay apartment in castle shannon. Aka one of the worst place to live.

Everything that's been addressed in the above complaints is completely true. These people are practically criminals. They will trick you into renting from them, lie to you, and then take you for all that they can. I only wish that i'd done more research on them before I rented from them. The building that I lived in was under a constant state of disrepair. There has been a light out in my hallway for almost two months and I can barely see to get my key in the lock, the washer/dryers are in terrible need of repair, they never have their parking lots or driveways plowed out during the winter time & i've missed work because I couldn't get up a driveway to reach the road, and they finally fixed the light in the parking lot that's been out for two years! I saw somebody refer to these people as "slum lords" and I feel that that gives slum lords a bad name. Do yourself and anybody that you care about a favor and warn them about these a-holes!
i also live in one the lobos mgmt properties. they are terrible landlords. they dont/cant fix anything. you have to call numerous times just to get something fixed. but when they do "try", they do it wrong. ive had a leaking window for months now. currently its not a huge deal because its winter and it only leaks when we get the occasional warm day. but come spring/summer, the rain is going to ruin the carpet. the apt was never cleaned when i first moved in and i specifically asked to have it cleaned. i called a health inspector about a mold problem. no mold but he found a bunch of other problems. i had to wait 5 days to get a new heater when mine broke on a 10 degree day. i had to call them everyday to annoy them before they would actually come out here. they never plow the parking lot or salt the steps going in to the buildings. ive also missed work because i couldnt get out of my lot. i had to park in the port authority parking lot and walk up in the snow. i cant wait to move out of here. my lease cant end soon enough. do not rent from these people. they really are slum lords.

These slum lords are worse than you can imagine. All the negative reviews are 100% accurate. I lived at the so-called "Royal Windsor". For starters, its nearly impossible to move into the place. If you park in the building lot to unload your car, tow trucks will be removing your car in a matter of minutes! My roommate attempted to move in an AC unit, and 15 minutes later, his car was on the back of a tow truck and the driver demanded a $50 bribe to put the car down. Lobos refused to refund this money. The laundry facilities were completely broken for over two months. Our front door broke at least 25 times throughout the duration of the lease, and it typically took days for Lobos to fix. The elevator broke several times each day, and was broken for at least a week straight on multiple occasions! In the winter, they do not remove ice and snow from the parking lots or sidewalks. One tenant suffered a severe knee injury due to this negligence. Attempting to drive a car out of the lot is dangerous due to the ice buildup. I had to salt the lot myself to move my car. Our bathroom ceiling leaked to the point where it looked like it would cave in. This emergency took Lobos over a week to send a repair person. When the repair person arrived, he merely painted over the ceiling, and did nothing to fix the water issue. Within a day, the ceiling was leaking through again. This took over a month and multiple calls to the health dept for a complete resolution. Finally, they have fire alarms that cannot be shut off after business hours. If a fire alarm goes off after business hours, it will continue to go off FOR THE ENTIRE NIGHT. We had an alarm go off at midnight and neither the fire department or Lobos' answering service had any way to disable it. I had to sleep in my car. Phone calls to Lobos are either not returned, or met with rude customer service. I was even told "sir, you need to stop complaining". Avoid this company at all costs!

Lobos Management, Lori Sobol and Ron Sobol are collectively the worst company and worst people to deal with on the plant. The company is a joke and both Ron & Lori are ###s along with most of their employees being total jerks. Do not rent from these ###s-you will reget it.
terrible place to work in
Do not ever go to work for these evil demonic people! You will leave with no soul, and no brain.in fact, they eat your brains, they are like devouring monsters from an alien planet. A friend of mine just found one of their leasing agent ads on craigslist, where they advertise all the time because they can't keep anyone longer than two weeks at their management company. They are unprofessional, rotten to the core, and the atrocities against their employees are beyond the mind.
If you want to try and work for these #, go ahead and try, but from what i've read everywhere online from their tenants and their x-employees, it's a trip from hell. They will torture your # until you just pick up and leave. There is something seriously wrong with the sobol family, they need to go to the synagogue and ask for god's forgiveness for all their heinous sins.

My name is regina walker I too once was a tenant of lobos properties.I use to rent a place called oak manors place. It all started when my water tank busted and flooded everything in my house was damaged. I called the office to tell them I needed someone to come out to fix it but no one showed up. I went a whole month without a watertank. I called the health department to come out that's when they decided to come out and fix it. They didn't replace any of my damaged belongings they said that's my problem and hung up on me. Then my home became molded once again I called to have someone come out no one showed up. I called the health department out to check the problem they contacted lobos and no results. My daughter who has severe asthma became very ill due to the mold growing in the house was hospitalized. The health department came out 4 more times then lobos decided to come out only because they was being sited due to the condition of the apartment. Once the health department left ron had the maintenance men paint over the mold with white paint. The mold got worse and the apartment was falling apart even more. Lobos has taken me to court many times for their wrong doing as far as rent and damages. I would send my rent in a money order by mail they always claimed they didn't receive it and now they are trying to say I owe them a large amount of money. I think someone should call the news to investigate lobos management for there sneaky wrong doing.THEY ARE SLUM... I ALSO THINK THAT THERE SHOULD BE SOMEONE WHO CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT LOBOS... AND THAT RON AND LORI...

I am truly amazed at how these slumlords can still find people to rent to.I lived in their eaglenook apts. for too long, it is a horrible experience. They never fixed anything or do any work to make their property livable. Everything went wrong within the first few months of living there. There are drug addicts in the building, they don't care as long as they are getting paid.The trash overflows a lot, the heaters don't work, water damage in the buildings, not secure buildings (as they advertise), the water gets shut off sometimes because they don't pay their bills & if you call they always have some lame excuse why (mine was the person who pays the bill went on vacation!) On the whole left side of my apt., I can't use any of the outlets (so I have two working ones in the living room), the smoke alarms don't even work. I can keep going, but I think you get the point!
Try to warn everyone you know that is looking for an apartment to stay away from LOBOS. I've learned my lesson, when I look for an apt. I will always research the company. I never want to have an experience like this again.

everything written is true, when my a/c wasnt working, a maintanence man came into my apt thinking i wasnt home and was actually taking a piece of my a/c to fix one in an empty apt so they could rent it! meanwhile i'm paying rent! without a/c.
they will do anything to get you to rent, tell you they will fix everything and once your in, you are on your own!. I think it is horrible that they can get away with their work ethics. If you live at any LOBOS apartment. Please call your local code inspector to come in and do a thorough inspection of your apt. he will write a letter to lobos and they will HAVE to fix things within a certain time limit or be fined.

I have had nothing but issues w/ Lobos Management: On 3 occasions they have threatened me w/ court notes and late fees for not paying rent when they cashed my rent check the day it was due and then didn't file the paper work. Twice, water periodically pours from my entryway light fixture. The first time took 4 days to fix and a month to patch the ceiling...

Lobos management should not be allowed to rent to anyone anymore. They will not fix anything in your apt. or take care of their premises. The only time they ever fixed anything for me was when I called the health dept. after repeatedly calling lobos about not having heat for a week in the middle of winter (it was 7 degrees outside!) only then after the dept. came to my apt. & said it was 'inhumane living conditions' & called lobos telling them if it was not fixed in 24hrs. They would get fined, the man came 20mins after the dept. left to fix my heat.
Not even a week later my heat broke again,& I tried for another 3 or 4 days with a lot of rude employees (hanging up on me, telling me I'm not the only one w/out heat) giving me the run-around.Finally they came to fix it, most likely because I told them the health dept. was coming to do their follow-up. The guy came & said the unit needed a new fan, & it would be in no later than three days. Well, he never came back! I called about getting money of my rent,(the least they could do was reimburse me for the heaters I bought to keep warm & give me half off seeing how I was w/out heat half the month), but they always said they would call back& never did. When I wanted to talk to the manager, she was not in her office. (how convenient).
So about three weeks later my heat broke for the third time. It took about 2 or 3 days this time. I've been calling to still get my rent reduced, but it seems that they are told to always say we'll call you back' Well they must think I'm a dumb little girl who doesn't know my rights, but they are in for a surprise! I know that under new law--implied warranty of habitability- if a landlord doesn't make necessary repairs the tenant can break the lease before it runs out. I've heard they do not return sec. deposits either,well I took pictures when I moved in (dated of course) so they can not send me a list of damages. They must send the sec.dep. to the tenant or they can sue by going to the district justice's office and sue for it back and the landlord cannot counterclaim, or if they want to be a B**ch, tenant can sue for double the money, but landlord can try to counterclaim.
Also my mother fell down the steps on the side of the building & ended up having blunt trauma,and contusion of arm.I've called repeatedly months ago about the light being burnt out, the railing not even in the ground,but they did nothing. they don't salt the walkways nor plow the lot. It's supposed to be a secure building,but the door is on the ground! When they try to fix it he will drill a few holes to make it last a day or two, then it's back on the ground for a few weeks!
I could go on & on but I'm wasting your time.The favor I will give you is run! This is the worse place I've ever lived in! Don't ever even think about renting from these selfish ###! I bet if I didn't pay my rent the manager would be calling me asking where it is... HMMM... maybe I can get them on the phone after all :) If anyone has a petition I will gladly sign it, probably most the tenants will as well!

I am being evicted from this apt. after 14 years of living in these peoples apartments. I've had but trouble from these people. They come in unannouced all the time. They don't fix anything. If they do, it takes FOREVER. We still have stuff like our buzzer and bedroom closet that still haven't been fixed. Whever we called about it, they told us that none of the buzzers work. That was just one of the hundreds of calls that we made about a great many things. Of course, "There was no record of any calls from us". Like we're stupid or something. They came in when we weren't there for a surprise inspection, (which of course is against PA state law) and didn't like that it was very cluttered, and the bathroom vanity was broken. It had been broken for 9 years. They never came to fix it. They sent us a letter that said they inspected the place and that we had to tidy up. It also said that they would be back on Fri Jul. 21. They showed up at 11:00 on thursday trying to just get in. We were both sleep and naked. This woman Nicole started yelling at my girlfriend, about us changing the locks. We had to change the deadbolt 10 years ago beacause they wouldn't. We called for 3 days. They didn't do it, so we did and gave them copies of the new keys as required by law. But she had "the wrong key"? She said she saw weed out on the desk. I always put my stuff away. It was way less then a gram by the way. She called the cops. In court when asked why they came a day early, the lawyer lied and said that we had called them. We all know They don't come right away for anything. They used the cops to evict us with only 30 days to leave. They have had almost no complaints for 14 years. If there is a class action thing going on I want in. Let's not mention the 25 diiferent forms utilities have put on our doors saying they were going to shut off the water because Lobos hadn't paid the bill.
Don't let your loved ones be fooled by lobos reality from Pittsburgh north Versailles, it's not worth it trust me google them they are a nightmare, scam liars, they do not keep buildings up to code that's why I was attacked! and all I got was screamed at by the owner ! Also black mold is illegal and as you can see black mold everywhere, this matter was addressed in the same apartment in 2010 ! they keep flying under the radar so people have to make them take responsibility for there actions I was given 200 dollars for being attacked and laughed at by there [censor] of attorney she thought it was funny so did I think sobol was in there but I will post every single day so will my husband they threatened us
oh my...these comments prove what I had suspected. I filed a complaint to the BBB only to have Ron the owner I guess call me on my cell phone screaming at me asking what happened when I tried to explain he blasted me threatening to call my place of work. I am scared to say more for fear of this crazy man. He said I am clearly the problem not the rental company. I do not think so!
I agree with everything that has been said about LOBOS they are the worst management of all time! i have lived here for one year and the list of things that have gone wrong is just insane! here's a lil list of what has happened
*I have been with out a bathroom ceiling for about 4 months
*we have black mold in our bath room and under our carpet where it leaks in under the sliding glass door when ever it rains and it is also around the sliding glass door where our up stairs neighbors a/c unit leaks into our apt. the paint is bubbling all around that door
*the person who lives right next to us, his bathroom also leask into our apt and make our carpet soaked, thats two places where are carpect is consantly wet.it smells awful
*our door is swollen from all the water and humidity we have to slam it shut, doing that has broken 3 door knobs but shattering the locking mechanism, so by having to replaice 3 locks lobos has said that they cannot get into our apt to fix anything there is someone home at all times of the day almost every day, and they have not attempted to come over and fix anythig. now our door will not stay shut b/c the door has spit even when locked you can just push the door and it will open, what if we were to get robbed, who would be to blame?
*we have no screens in our windows, and for our sliding glass door.

*we cannot controll our heat in the winter its on full blast and we cant turn it down

I lived in one of their apartments for almost 3 years. The ceiling caved in twice and they took forever to fix it the first time and blatantly refused to fix it the second time. I called the health department who sent them a notice. Then they sent one of their workers to screw the soaking wet drywall back up into place and paint over it. That was what they considered "fixing" it. The whole apartment smelled of mold and mildew after this.
During the time that I lived there, I collected several water shut-off notices and we had our water turned off about 5 times.
They never shovel the parking lot. My mailbox door always came off when I tried to open it. The washer and dryer each cost $1.75 to use and that's a small load. THEN you have to use the dryer twice because it doesn't actually dry the first time.
When we moved out (two months after our ceiling caved in the second time), Ron told me that we could get out of our lease without having to pay the last two months of rent but then Mindy called and said she'd sue for rent. Luckily, we were able to settle out of court and didn't have to pay them the rent that they wanted. I had documented everything with pictures and kept the water shut-off notices as they piled up. They even tried to keep our security deposit for "not defrosting the freezer." It was just too bad for them that I took pictures of the apartment after we moved out and cleaned it showing that the freezer had indeed been defrosted and cleaned thoroughly.
Please listen to the people here, we've suffered at the hands of Lobos Management and hope that no one else will have to.
Oh and there mold in every apt here at 506 3rd street in North Versailles!
I hate LOBOS would not refer them to my worst enemy! The door that r supose to be suvure r broken and do not lock! They never fix anything! Leaks everywhere.. washer and dryer dont work and havnt in a year and they keep sayin theyre gonna put new ones in but have have and most likely never will! And they lie! Ive heard Shawn the property manager and Corey tell people that the washer and dryers work and they dont and havnt in a year! They r horrible landlords! I agree that they should nott even be allow to rent ever again! Oh and they never shovel the parking lot when it snows they never keep up wit anything!
I am sadly moving into one of Lobos properties and I went over a few days ago to bring some things and the parking lot is an absolute MESS. My car got stuck and it looks like they have not even shoveled it since the first big snow we had 2 weeks ago. I called three times yesterday and 3 times today and was told it would be taken care of. I will keep calling until I get results!
ALL LOBOS RESIDENTS. Contact the Allegheny County Health Department and file a complaint. It takes a couple of weeks to get it moving but it will end up costing the Sobol family in the long run to correct the deficiencies. A little bit of pay back for all the misery they have caused people over the years.
These reviews are undoubtedly true. I have lived in a Lobos unit for a mere three months and this list of problems that I've encountered in unfathomable; here are a few:
- Mailboxes (which are located in unlocked lobby off a main street) are left opened and unlocked
- Window has fallen out and has never been replaced (despite numerous attempts)
- Washers and dryers in building never work and Lobos will not refund money spent to use them
- Both sink and bathtub have chronic drip (that hasn't been fixed despite months of persistent complaining)
- Manager (the guy with the feminine voice) is extremely rude and unapproachable
- Carpets are filthy
- Doors to "secure buildings" are never locked
- And I am currently processing a complaint that would shock readers; however, I am waiting until it is handled before disclosing it publicly
PLEASE POST YOUR PROBLEMS WITH THE COMPANY AS MANY OF YOU COULD BE REMEDIED THROUGH CIVIL ACTION.
WE CANNOT CONTINUE TO ALLOW THIS COMPANY TO DUPE HELPLESS TENANTS INTO LEASING FROM THEM
