LogMeIn Mixed Experiences with LogMeIn: A Customer's Perspective

As a customer exploring LogMeIn, I've encountered a mix of experiences that have shaped my view of the service. While some users praise the reliable remote access and secure software tools, others express frustration with issues like difficulty in canceling accounts and high-pressure sales tactics. It's clear that LogMeIn has its strengths, particularly in remote support, but there are areas where improvement is needed to enhance customer satisfaction. As you consider using LogMeIn, it's essential to weigh these varied perspectives and determine how they align with your specific needs and expectations.

LogMeIn I have used logmein for a long time

I have used logmein for a long time. It is really brilliant and I connect from home all the time and also via my laptop from Europe. It is really easy. I have just upgraded at a cost of ?25 for the first year so that I can remotely share and print. Cannot recommend it highly enough

LogMeIn Not the cheapest, but a robust enterprise solution

Not the cheapest, but a robust enterprise solution for remote computer access and VPN service - While Logmein is not the cheapest remote access service out there, it's great for a growing small/medium sized business. They offer scalable services and have great support. I'd recommend them to anyone.

This is virtually free software unless you need the ability to download files remotely from you PCs. Aside from that, this is perfectly working free software that never expires. If all you want to do is access your PCs remotely, then give this a try. Even the pro version isn't that expensive and works great.

The Pro version of this software is only needed if you need to move files, otherwise they give the software away for free. I used the free version for months until one day I actually needed to access my computer at home, and then I signed up for the pro version. This software has saved me so many times I can't begin to count them all.

LogMeIn I am a long time user and it is wonderful!

I am a long time user and it is wonderful! Easy to use and powerful. I maintain 5 computers remotely for friends and use it to gain access to my home PC when away. The free version will let you do almost anything you need to do, except directly move files between PC's, but use Megaupload to move files if you need to. Again Logmein is one of my favorites.

LogMeIn You can remotely control your PC over the internet

You can remotely control your PC over the internet and it is great for people who travel and need to access their work desktop. I bought their iPhone application to control my PC using my phone, but it turns out that wasn't really necessary as it just makes it more convenient. Most users can probably just use their free trial and never pay for the pro version.

LogMeIn Execelent service

Me an my girlfriend used Logmein for little under a year when she was living abroad. We were very satisfied and It was easy to understand and user friendly.

When our subscription auto updated (a while after we finished using it) - we explained that it was a mistake and that we were not planing to use the service in the future, and they simple refunded and canceled our subscription - we were very happy with the treatment.

LogMeIn This site is amazing

This site is amazing. You install the software on the machine you want to access from elsewhere. Then using any browser anywhere you can access your computer by entering in a couple of passwords. The software to install is absolutely free (there's a free version that never expires). If you need more functionality such as printing or file transfers you will need a more advanced version (Pro) that requires a fee which isn't even that bad. For file transfers, I get around that by email files to myself (as long as they are not too big).

They also have options for access on your iPhone or handheld devices but those apps cost money. I've never tried them, but I would imagine them to be worth the money for ones that need access to their computer remotely from a handheld.

LogMeIn Tried to prove they were not scammers

Made me a believer went into my computer and locked me out to where I had no choice but to call. Then went in remotely as I expressed my fear and showed how they work for Microsoft! At the very end after all the bs he ask if I do online banking I said some of course this is a new computer and I have not saved anything to do with bank. He then tells me all I need done and I need to pay 149.99 to get back in my computer. I am on workers comp with back injury and taking classes online and was I the middle of studying and money is tight and I could not afford that until Fri. He then tried to get me to pay 100.00 and that was as low as he could go! Now he is done and starts deleting everything telling me I can restart computer as he unlocked the block! Microsoft needs to handle this as it came through as if it was them! Thank goodness I didn't pay and came straight here! This just happened and wasted an hour of my studies!

LogMeIn Catastrophic Breach of Trust

My company has used logmein for our employees to access their desktop machines when they're away from their desks. Until today we trusted logmein to have a presence on machines which have sensitive data on them. We trusted logmein with our data.

This year they hiked their price by 35% (from ?189 to ?249) and auto-renewed. I discovered the increase when I was reviewing the accounts. They say they sent me an email but I didn't see it. I called them to cancel the service and ask for a partial refund, however they will not turn the service off and they will not refund any of the fee they charged us.

They say that because we used it (in August, several of us were on holiday abroad and this is when we use it the most) they have to charge for the whole year.

From a security standpoint this means that if you are a logmein customer you have an agent installed on your machines provided by a company that will add services you have not requested to your account, change the amount of money they charge you without securing your consent and then take an increased sum from your account without your permission.

So the answer to the question "Will they also steal my data?" can only be "Well, they help themselves to money without asking, so it's best not to risk finding out."

This is the nature of a breach of trust.

Do not install the client, you cannot be sure they will act in your best interests, they certainly didn't in mine.

They also take forever to answer the phone, and if you point out any of the above to their call centre staff, you have a one in three chance of being hung up on.

On the third phone call I was able to get them to agree to delete my payment details but I cannot get them to terminate the service so my guys don't accidentally re-install it on one of our machines thereby opening us up to (what we now know to be) a huge risk.

Utterly amoral.

Avoid.

LogMeIn It is a total Scam

Same deal. Popup saying computer hacked and to call this number [supposed to be HP Support] which I did. Supposedly they cleaned up computer and said I need to get better virus support [had McAfee on computer]. I said ok still thinking I'm talking to HP Support and they put something called sociwall [not sure of spelling] and Norton on computer and then got bill for $599.99 through Deciphers InfoTech llc. First their rep [hard to understand a very heavy indian accent wanted my personal check # and information at bottom of check which I declined. Thinking I'm still talking to a HP Support person I used my Credit card and was told payment was through PayPal and I was to auto signature which I agreed to do. Next thing I see is a completed invoice from Deciphers InfoTech llc for $599.99 with them putting my signature on auto sign which I did not give permission for them to do so then "their rep" with obvious heavy indian accent identified self as John which I then knew I had been scammed. I uninstalled all that they had put on my computer as was afraid they had installed hidden viruses. I called my credit card and told what happened and they cancelled that card and are sending new card. I also called PayPal and filed claim refund; informed refund would be within 7 days. Email from PayPal on 2/23 indicating that Deciphers senders bank had declined to refund. Called PayPal on 2/26 and was told they had resubmitted; then immediately in turned called my credit card this evening and was told payment to Deciphers had been made and then I was transferred to my credit card dispute dept. and gave information regarding this scam So at this time I'm out $599.99 unless PayPal and my credit card can resolve this obvious scam. Recommendation: under no circumstances use Deciphers InfoTech LLC or LogMeIn and if you receive a notice that your computer has been scammed and to called HP Support, beware and look up HP Support number and report misrepresentation regarding Deciphers InfoTech and LogMeIn.

LogMeIn Unprofessional, Incompetent, Unresponsive Customer care and Defunct Finance Dept

This is the Readers Digest version.
November of 2020 Logmein unilaterally charged our renewal subscription at a new plan type and rate without consulting us. I tried for 2 weeks to get thru. I could get tech support but for help with a finance issue i had to talk to sales only. The shortest time i waited online was 1 hour 43 minutes. Never got to talk to anyone who "supposedly" could help. I called the credit card company and said to approve the correct amount and dispute the balance.

So inspite of paying for our correct subscription they shut my account down. I called tech support and instead of turning it back on after understanding we paid for Central they said they had to create a new account. I asked them, please don't do that. Of course they did anyway and lost all the contacts but ultimately they restored it.

Then their credit Dept shut me off again. And we went back and forth. After them refunding and charging me (because they made me do a new charge) they came back shut me off and said they had refunded all the money. Ii gave them documentation showing that i was in fact paid ahead and requested US based support and call from a supervisor. This happened multiple time and never got any call back.
I had three of our customers fire us and go elsewhere over this and I told the tech and nothing happened. I finally demanded they get something done. I get an email back with writing so bad 4 of use couldn't understand as it didn't make logical sense. And never addressed the questions. I asked them to rewrite and received an even crazier response. On a hunch, I checked my credit card and that very day they refunded my money indicating that i was correct. I was paid current.

So, Instead of re-instating my account they refunded! Then said i had to request a new quote. WTF These people don't care, aren't capable of even rational responses or caring. No sense of urgency. Ill bet the executives however are earning good bonuses because tech support costs are down. And eventually if they lose enough customers someone might actually care about customer service and having a sense of urgency.
In business for 34 years i have never experienced such an incompetent display of care or concern for customer service or even an ounce of urgency about anything. They deserve to fail!

LogMeIn billing

I have been in touch with Logmein and they agreed to give me a refund for a service that I have not used for 3 years and they have debited my card for each of the three years and said they will repay the current year but have not yet. They said they would refund within 7 working days, this was over a month ago and have completely ignored all e-mails I have sent subsequently.

Case #[protected] and payment Confirmation Number: LWRIYJ24965000B

Thank you

LogMeIn logmein pro: contract practices borderline illegal.

I have a subscription with Logmein back when the contract was $79. The subscription as auto renew through Paypal. About 2 months ago, I got a notice from Paypal saying I was charged $699. I did not recieve any notification from Logmein about this huge jump in price. When I called up to cancel, they told me that I cannot get a pro-rated refund as my subscription terms required a 30 days notice prior the termination day. Here is the RUB: I my openion, a $79 dollar contract is very different from a $699 contract. The terms I agreed on was based on $79, not $699. This is a suspeciously bait and switch practice, robbery in broad day light.

LogMeIn they double billed me

Yesterday I found out I have been paying them too much for one year.
All of a sudden, one year ago, they increased the price (probably just for me) and billed me twice each month. I didn't even notice and of course, you can blame me for being so stupid. Was it a system error or something else they should have notified me because they would have obviously noticed it...
I don't know what it was. I have let them know and been waiting for their decision.

LogMeIn shady company

I honestly would not refer my worst enemy to deal with this company.
please, never ever subscribe to their services, never use them and if you really need something like this then just look elsewhere.
When you sign up for the first time, they charge you as they initially promised, but starting with the second month they start taking more money without telling you. So you expect to be charged like a month ago, but it doesn;t happen and you lose more money than before.
It's not mentioned in their terms, so be very careful. Don't deal with these scammers. They need nothing but your money.

LogMeIn they tried to steal my money!

Hello everyone!
I really need help because I'm afraid that this company will try to steal my money and I want to stop them.
About a month ago someone tried to charge my card and I received an emergency call from my bank. They said that a company called LogMeIn tried to bill me. To be honest I have no idea who these guys are, I never used their site, never even heard anything about them.
One week later the same thing happened. Of course I tried to resolve it myself and tried to contact LogMeIn many times, but they did not reply. I'm afraid and I don't want to lose my money. To be sure I made a new bank account and transferred all of my money there. But I still want to know why are these guys after me and what do they want. Also sent a report to the police. Please help!

LogMeIn expensive

This site gets more and more expensive every year! I remember day when they charged only $50 for their service but last time they charged me they took over $100! And the worst part here is that they automatically renewed my account and charged my card. They never bothered to contact me and ask was I still interested in their service or not. These guys were not bad in the past but they changed a lot in a bad way. I want to cancel my account but first I need to get my money back but it seems like they decided to keep it. Better stay away from LogMeIn.

LogMeIn I guess it is legal for logmein to steal money from it's customers through their automatic renewal and no-refund policy

I have a MacBook on which I installed LogMeIn. LogMeIn claims you can use your local printer to print from an offsite computer which you have accessed from your local computer. That feature does not work with a MacBook. When I contacted Tech Support, the technician acknowledged the problem, then gave me a lengthy process that I would have to use every time I wanted to print to my local printer from an offsite computer. It was far too cumbersome, so I never used it and wasnt going to renew my subscription to LogMeIn when it expired. Well, LogMeIn automatically renewed my subscription ($69.95) without my permission or knowledge. When I contacted them for a refund I was told that they had a strict no-refund policy. So, I guess it is legal for LogMeIn to steal money from it's customers through their automatic renewal and no-refund policy. If you desire to access offsite computers, you would be much better off using "gotomypc.com." It is a much better program and can be canceled at any time.

LogMeIn a very poor policy, and a way to dishonestly keep stealing money from their customers

Very angry with them on their auto-renewal policy. Had called them last year after their auto renewal had happened to cancel auto renewal. This year, they conveniently didn't have record and charged me the amount again. They have a no-refund policy, and the credit card company won't do anything about it... SO make sure to hang on to any "confirmation number" they give you if you cancel the service, or they will keep charging ENDLESSLY. A very poor policy, and a way to dishonestly keep stealing money from their customers.

LogMeIn won't refund my debits

I had used Logmein Pro for a month and then forgot all about it. Not a big deal, except the card I used doesn't give me a monthly statement. I'm on social security and the card I used is a small amount that the Department of Human Services gives me monthly. However, it doesn't give me a statement. About a year after I initially used Logmein, I noticed my balance differing and called my account caseworker. They told me I had been charged for every month since that initial month. Again, no big deal. I pulled up my Logmein account and it showed I had not used the service for a year. So it was easy for them to tell that I was not using the service. I contacted Logmein, and they refused to refund the amount of about 100 dollars. They said their finance office would not authorize a refund, no matter what the circumstances. I can only contend they are doing the same thing to others, although with regular bank statements, it probably doesn't take an entire year to miss the money.

Tell your friends to be careful with Logmein.
