My husband has been with M Models & Talent Agency for 5 months and has already landed 3 jobs, including two trips to Mexico for commercial shoots. His previous agency failed to get him work for over a year and charged us over $900 for a single photo shoot. I've noticed a lot of mixed reviews here, and I'd like to share my perspective. This website confirms that M Models is a legitimate agency. However, some reviews seem fabricated, ranging from claims of the agency not securing work to complaints about paying an admin fee. Thanks to M Models, my husband has saved thousands on acting classes and headshots. In conclusion, our experience has been overwhelmingly positive, and we're grateful for the opportunities and savings M Models has provided.

Scam
I signed up Oct 16 and payed 550.18 for the sign up fee which includes classes, unlimited photoshoots and a profile.
I was excited to start but ended up regretting my decision after concluding my style of modeling is more for runway.
Sean agreed and said he'll process the refund. Today Nov 17th 2023, I reached out after several failed attempts to get a definite response on when would I expect the refund. Gaslight me 3 times saying that I was already on the list and then that payments go in alphabetical order and lastly he said he was going to contact hr at 11:00am and call me back with an answer and never did. I reached out asking if he needed more time since it's already been a month since he said he was going to refund me. He said that I wasn't going to receive my refund because he had payed upfront for photoshoots and admin. That in fact I owe him $1600. What can I do about this? Please help
Claimed loss: $550.18
Desired outcome: Please refund
I asked for a refund the next day. Don't lie. I have all proof. I can't believe how far you are willing to go for my money. You steal and have no shame. Say the truth for once. You did no cover any photos, I didn't take any classes. No real modeling agency would do that. Specially if I changed my mind the next day. I need an email confirmation of the refund ASAP. So far you have acted unprofessional and misrepresent your company and and everyone in the business. I do not believe anything that comes from his mouth. You have a reputation to save.
Scam
Real agents don't ask you to pay to sign with them, especially such crazy amounts. Stopped getting casting emails soon after "signing" on May 1, 2021. They charged me $339 dollars, but when I look up the address at the bottom of the invoice, it leads to a co-working office space. Not an actual office.
Update: after posting this, the "agency" tried to scam me into working for them. They posted a picture of me without my consent or knowledge and when I asked for them to take it down they began to berate and threaten me.
Desired outcome: Refund

Hi Audriana,
Why don’t you stop by our office instead of writing false information. Also please review your contract we did not try scaming you to work for us . You accepted a project .
Hi Audriana,
Your paid for an admin fee. You also landed auditons. The agency has the right to put your images up when you confirm for a project . We do not need your consent as you signed a contract . You landed a project yesterday and you did confirm .
Misrepresentation of services
I signed with m models on January 27th 2022. I have yet to hear back from anyone and everytime I call any of the locations it is instantly picked up by voice mail. I paid $ 339 in total. I am signed with other agencies and have never had a problem. This seems like a money making situation instead. I have left several messages. Reached out to Shawn via Facebook and IG and nothing.
Desired outcome: I would like a refund and for my contract to be dissolved
I just received my first 3ver phone call from this agency and I believe it was due to the fact that I complained on this sight.
I was yelled at by Sean over the phone. I was threatened with a lawsuit and I was told I was making his health situation worse. I have never been screamed at by an agent...ever. This was my first interaction with him and now I am scared to work with this agency. The excuse for not contacting me to answer any questions was that they are moving locations. Up until today I didn't even know WHO exactly my agent was and if this was even real.
I tried to get him to stop yelling at me which just made this worse. I have never been verbally abused like this by a stranger, let alone someone who you have signed with and paid to rep you.

shawn - the ultimate greaseball
I have been with M Models for a few months and I still do not think it's a scam. The payments take a long time to come in for gigs and so I'm still waiting on my first paycheck from a commercial I did months ago... I still have faith I will be paid.
But MModels may as well be a scam due to the sheer incompetence their only agent named Shawn. Shawn is a slimey, arrogant, and unhelpful salesman. He is yet to provide me with any accurate information about the dates and times of my auditions and he has been obscenely late for each of our meetings. If I tell him that he sent me to the wrong address for an audition or that he gave me the wrong date for a shoot (wasting copious amount of my time), he gets angry, demeans me, and explains that he has 500 other clients to deal with . He has even threatened me and shouted at me when I've questioned his abismal organizational skills. Basically he is saying, " I don't give a [censored] about you, you already paid me $650 dollars you fool."
It's easy to tell right away that Shawn is the ultimate greaseball, but you may think to yourself, "hey, that's showbiz. If he makes me money, I can deal with this guy." But the reality is you will never make your downpayment back, you will never be enrolled in the acting classes promised to you at the start, and you will certainly never have a pleasant experience with Shawn.
This agency is a sick joke. Please spare yourself the stress and heartache of dealing with this clown. Go somewhere else. Even a scam would be better than MModels.

modeling
I signed with M Models and Talent two years ago with $800. Sean promises big things and doesn't deliver. A friend of mine asked me to be in some pics with her for free. I did and he threatened us both with lawsuits. When I called Sean he uses slang a lot so that I don't call him again. He was always too rude on the phone after taking money from me and he didn't talk to me without any slang. When I called him for any update he was too rude and told me Mo…. Fu… Bh..N Ch….D etc etc etc. Stay away from this agency. Sean is a scammer.

Ripoff, huge scam and dissapointment
I was looking for a model agency and I came across M Models and talent agency in Toronto. DO NOT invest your money on them! Especially if you're a student! I paid $500 something because they told me I needed a lot of comp cards. The photographer was a good person but this company can recruit anyone and fill your head with nonsense only to rip money off you...

Hi Mark Wright,
I am a booking agent from M Models and Talent Agency. If you are real person contact me at [protected] if you have not been paid for project. You sound more like a competitor. Ever since we have done the time magazine cover all compeitiors have been writing all sorts of stuff
We recently took out a news letter that mentions about cyber bullies:
M Models Cyber Bullies:
The film and television industry can be very competitive; this plays a prominent role in business and in cyber bullying. The Internet can be the easiest way to spread rumors and false data that can potentially wreck a business. We see many false statements about clients, agencies, talents and models and it is a constant battle between both parties. It is one way to be or try to be on top; constantly putting them down. It is very childish and wrong; if an agency can provide proof of work and has been running for several years, why believe someone else that could possibly be starting a conflict.
We can proudly say that our models had the pleasure of working with some of the most well known and respected companies across Canada such as, MTV, Blackberry, SPC, Virgin Mobile, Scotia Bank, Much Music, Roots, Subaru, Visa Coca Cola just to name a few . We invite everyone to visit our blog to find proof behind this statement and see more projects we were involved with: http://mmodels.typepad.com/ .
As well M Models And Talent Agency has contacted the Competition Bureau of Canada and have been told how to handle these competitors in a legal manner.
Please read the article below:

"New York’s attorney general Eric Schneiderman announced Monday that 19 New York-based companies have agreed to pay hefty penalties and stop writing fake online reviews — many of which have flooded consumer review sites such as Yelp, Google and CitySearch."
This post was created by an agent name Umer from seven models and talents. New agencys try their best to tarnish reputable agencys. Please do contact actra, M is a non union agency. Ever since there model has done the cover of time magazine this year. All these complaints have been started by new agencys like seven models. Before there was agencys called xcentric models and one models that tryed to tarnish the name of M Models but shut down in less then a year both agencies were open by the former employees of M.
Here is a link to a news paper article that talks about the time cover:

M Models has built a great agency around two basic principles: diversity and customer service. This paradigm has been paying off with some of M Model's recent work: Snickers candy bar, a Time Magazine cover, Coca Cola print ad and a Mega Bloks Barbie (commercial). With work in print and video, M Model's people have been highly visible and increasing the beauty of the world. More information is available on their website: http://www.mmodels.ca
"It has been an honor working with some of the young men and women that we have been able to represent lately. They have been winning some excellent contracts and have really been stepping it up. We pride ourselves being a great agency to work for and the work and loyalty of our models is the testament to our success." -M Models Management
M Models is dedicated to fulfilling the needs of magazines, video production companies and artists. With a diverse portfolio of talented models and actors, M Models is able to supply a great person for every project. Their portfolio includes models of many sizes and from every heritage.
Being a modeling agency that is geared towards providing local and international assignments, M Models and Talent thrives on the diversity that our multicultural society has to offer. The management says, "In a competitive industry such as here in Toronto, we are always searching for models and talents that have a strong look and a certain edge about them. Essentially, it is these qualities that set them apart and make them stand out in front of our clients and casting directors." Their models have worked with some of the most well-known and respected companies across North America such as, MTV, Bell Media, Blackberry, SPC, Virgin Mobile, Scotia Bank, TD Bank, Much Music, Roots, Subaru, Visa, Target, YTV, Mattel, Marc Anthony, LCBO, Patron and Labatt to name a few.
all I have to say is umer nice try, but your ip address couldn't be blocked. Please do not pay for portfolios from these new agencys. Call the fraud squad immediately if umer try's to charge you for thousands of dollars for pictures. A REAL AGENCY PAYS FOR YOUR PORTFOLIO AND HAS PROOF OF WORK.
Unprofessional
Hello everyone, I know this is going to be a little off from my normal types of blog posts out there but I just want to put word out there to help any girls or guys out there who are trying to achieve their dreams. I don't want anyone to fall into the potential traps out there or money grabs without being educated or knowing as much as they can before figuring stuff out for themselves.
*disclaimer: I am not saying I am right and that I know every single thing about the company and how excellent they are, I am just sharing my personal experience and thoughts*
In the past few weeks I have been starting to strive for my dreams in the modelling industry since you all probably know my dream is to model in Japan. I have been hunting for modelling agencies in Toronto that might suit my needs or that would be willing to help and support me. I did quite a bit of research online to learn a little about the industry before taking a swing at things. I found a few agencies near by in Toronto that were not just for high fashion models.
There I came across mmodels.ca . I creeped their site and it seemed okay so I also looked into their facebook and blog. Everything seemed OK, nothing to amazing but it seemed like they were getting stuff done so I figured I would apply and see what they had to say. After I applied I learned about ACTRA Toronto which is a community that has a certain rule to modelling agencies type thing. GOOGLE IT! I will not reiterate :P Basically the agency wasn't on the list for that community so I was like foooooooock okay I will still wait to hear from them,
About a week later I got a call from them asking me to come in for an interview. And this is where it all begins...
The women on the phone did not inform me of whether I had to bring anything with me! So I did research on what to bring to an agency and figured out you need to bring your portfolio or a CD with your photos on it and a resume. So I thought it was strange that the women wouldn't mention anything like that.
When I got to Toronto and was trying to locate the building there was no sign... I walked into the build number they provided me with but there wasn't even a sign on the inside within the list of other companies within the building. So I literally had no idea if this was the true location or not :S I had to randomly go to floors asking if this was MModels. When I found it, it was just a secretary and she said yes this is MModels. I found it very suspicious that there wasn't a single company sign on the outside or inside of the building. Not even the front desk! Now the place looked clean and nice don't get me wrong. But very suspicious. ( I did not go alone)
I was 10 minutes early for my interview and I waited 40 minutes past my interview time to see the agent! The agent was 40 minutes late to see me! On top of which no one informed me why he was late, how long I would have to wait of even tell me he would just be a minute. I just sat there while the secretary was awkwardly quite and evasive.
When the agent finally showed up it was a man which caught me off guard. I was under the impression I was going to be meeting someone else from the emails I shared with her and talked to on the phone. She did not mention I would be meeting with some one different and in the end of my emails I said "I look forward to meeting you ____" and she replied the same! wtf! >.<
The interview was horrible. We rushed into his office and he apologized to me for being late. The interview was a huge rush. He basically told me what an agency does. Which I already knew, he flipped through his booking system on his computer "showing me how it worked" Signed one of his clients up for an audition and asked me if I had any questions! I asked him some basic stuff about pricing. He said they cover the cost of everything which sounded amazing! Until after his very fast talking he said except for comp cards you pay those yourself. He tried to move onto a new topic about portfolios but I stopped him to ask how much for the comp cards and he said 500$! Sorry but I am poor as ###...
During the interview his phone was ringing off the hook! It was so painfully awkward that after the 4th call I just told him to answer it. Then after that his cell phone started ringing... like seriously bro... turn off your phone in and interview. You were already 40 minutes late to bring me in you should at least be prepared by now. After that he took my CD with my photos and scheduled me in for a second interview and gave me the agency agreement sheet to read over. By this point I just wanted to get out of there. He didn't even stand up to shake my hand good bye.
"The worst interview I have ever had... I have had better interviews for grocery stores where they are 10X more professional"
I had plenty of time to do more research on the place but there was hardly any reviews out there on them. But I had plenty of time to re think the situation over and over.
2 days before my second interview I was browsing craigslist for part time jobs since I may need extra work soon and found an ad from MModels looking for talent! I was like... well that is odd, why would an agency in the heart of the fashion district need to post ads on craigslist of all places. So That got me a little iffy about this place.
I am personally taking this modelling seriously since it is a long term dream of mine to model in Japan! I don't want to be with a company that will throw themselves at who ever.
But I figured I would give the second interview a shot and see how they are this time and if they are more serious and professional. They called me the day before to confirm I was coming in and I confirmed.
I was 5 minutes late for the interview since it was raining a lot and traffic into Toronto was backed up even though I left 2 hours early.
but...
I waited 30 extra minutes for him! He was late by 30 minutes to the interview! Thank god I didn't show up early again.
I almost just stood up and left but my sister and I said we would give it 5 more minutes then leave.
But he finally showed up. The most unprofessional situation ever.
The second interview was the exact same as the first one which surprised the hell out of me. I thought he was going to tell me all about his work, what he can do for me and how promising it looks for me... But he basically showed me the same stuff as before, said the exact same stuff and I asked the exact same questions.
He handed me the contract and read over it with me and it was meh.
Then he asked my sister if she had any questions because I brought her in with me this time.
She asked him the exact same question I asked him in the first interview about the comp cards and how much they would cost and he lost his mind on her!
He raised his voice and said "Do you even understand what comp cards are?!" I was like :O:O:O:O:O!
I asked him the exact same thing a week ago and he explained it politely and calmly to me. And my sister said well I know professional photographers who could do it for us for next to free. And he went on a rant on how they need to be through the company.
NOW, I understand composite cards need to be through the agency because YOU as a model are through the agency but over $500 is a steep price for someone starting out. And for anyone who has done their research they would know printing composite cards is not nearly that expensive to put together.
Along with that; the contract stated it was an open contract and that if the model isn't exact to regulations he or she can be terminated at any given time... So basically if they decided I "did" something wrong they can cut me off and take my over 500+ dollars in comp card money but I get to keep my portfolio.
His reasoning for the price being so high? He said I have to pay that much because some models only go to 10 auditions then don't go anymore, so agency loses money.
The contract also stated you would be considered a FREELANCER...
Uhm I can freelance myself through ModelMayham... For free.
I thought to myself :
Maybe you should learn how to interview people... he did not once ask me why I want to model, what my aspirations are, why I want to do the kind of work I want or what kind of companies am I interested in.
To me it sounded like they are a company that will take anyone who is willing to put the 500+ deposit in and then cut them if they don't feel like they fit the bill.
*Thankfully he had his phone off this time LOL*
To sum it up:
Unprofessional
Pricey
Sketchy/risky 1 year agreement
Not interested in your goals or dreams
I later took a closer look at his business card and realized he was the Senior Agent!
Sorry you need to be more professional if your going to be the top senior agent of a modelling agency.
Remember ladies and gents, Don't sign anything. Do your research and pay attention to their body language, how they address you and how they interview you.
A modelling agency should care to know about YOU and why YOU want to model and what YOUR goals are!
You are what will make them money after all!
An agency will cover the cost of everything, comp cards are an exception but they should NOT cost half a grand. You can print your own professional cards for way less then that.
Respect is important.
I am not super cocky in my looks or think I am the most beautiful person around, but I know through personal freelancing that I have a good look and can find modelling gigs with ease and shouldn't be treated like that at a modelling agency that isn't for high fashion.
If I went to a high fashion agency like Elite models then I would expect them to be like... uhm... your too short to be represented by us.
And shooo me away.
But not by a commercial print agency.
Now I am not telling you to beware of MModels. If you are willing take the huge risk in it and drop over 500+ on business cards then by all means go ahead.
But for me this is something I don't have the money for... I only have 70$ in my bank account right now! :P
But I am more warning you of how unprofessional the business was, especially with the Senior agent who represents the company in a whole.
Plus if he wasn't interested in my look I doubt he would have wanted to see me again.
So be careful! And go see for yourself if you still are interested.
That is my story. I wish you all the best of luck.
BEFORE YOU GIVE ME SOME DIRT NASTY COMMENT, REMEMBER,
I AM SHARING MY TRUTHFUL EXPERIENCE! I AM NOT BASHING THEM.
I WENT TO MMODELS VERY VERY EXCITED AND WITH AN OPEN MIND.
THIS WAS JUST MY EXPERIENCE.
THIS POST IS:
NOT AN ATTACK ON THE COMPANY.
NOT SAYING THEY ARE A SCAM
NOT SAYING THEY ARE FALSE
NOT SAYING THEY AREN'T WORTH YOUR TIME.

NOT SAYING THEY AREN'T WORTH YOUR TIME.

M Models and Talent, known for their remarkable work in the film and television industry, has been growing ever since they started 5 years ago. They are constantly building their roster daily and will continue to do so for many years to come. It is their goal at M Models and Talent to give their models and talents the exposure they need and deserve to flourish in this industry.
Just recently M Models and Talent Agency landed a PlayStation commercial with one of their talents Lei M. The commercial can be viewed here http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=xz0G32JpmHI.
They have also worked with some of the most well known and respected companies across Canada such as, MTV, Blackberry, SPC, Virgin Mobile, Scotia Bank, Much Music, Roots, Subaru, Visa, just to name a few. You can visit their blog to find and see more projects they were involved with which is constantly updated with other news as well: http://mmodels.typepad.com.
Some employees that have worked with M Models have branched out and opened up their own model and talent agencies across Toronto. However some have failed to have the success M Models has to offer. With more and more agencies forming in Toronto; the film and TV industry is becoming more competitive and this plays a prominent role in business and in cyber bullying. Whether looking up any agency in Toronto there will always be some sort of complaint about the agency or work, however what is good about M Models is that their doors are always open for any talents or models wanting to get into the industry. It is there job to show you all the work they have gotten with their clients and show exactly what M Models has to offer. With all the competitors in Toronto and in the business, M Models still manages to receive jobs and auditions daily with their models and talents. It is worth checking their services out in person and speaking to one of their agents at the office.
M Models and Talents is still one of the top agencies in Toronto and are known throughout Canada. Representing a wide range of men, women, and children, they are able to showcase clientele a variety of talents and models. Whether the talents and models are beginners or experienced, M Models treats everyone equally; submitting projects, calling clientele and trying to get their talents auditions and jobs.
