Not getting answers to my emails on account not being found or device activation
I ordered new device on 10/19/23 - installed on 10/25/23 - Although all information/registration/etc was provided at the time; unable to activate device or get registration form again. Billing is not responding to my emails and customer service says they cannot find account.
I cannot even log in. I do not even know if it will work since the little blue and yellow lights do not go on.
At this point I would like to return it, but if they cannot find the account how will I get the refund?
This has become a nightmare for me, as now I have to go and get a cell phone.
I will send copy of this email to FFC and the BBB with copies of all my emails to billing dept.; which are not being answered.

I am trying to resolve the fact that I ordered on May 11. Credit card hit on May 12. It is now June 27 but I have never received my order. Have called customer service 7 times. They said the device was sent back to them. I have called 4 times today and have been HUNG UP on each time. I believe it is because they do not know how they can help.

Home phone service
I paid Magic Jack on 4/10/23 $49.88 for services til Nov this year. Due Family death sickness and money issues I did not renew the service on Nov 2022. I went to my magic jack account and as requested renew til this year November and the money was debit right away from account. Now the have refusing ti activate my account. I have had this service for many years but lately I'm getting lots of static on the line...I called them to speak to an Agent but found it impossible to reach a human being...they used to welcome callers...now they don't want to hear from you...just take your money and keep your trap shut...
I was able to reach a voicemail option for sales to speak to a human but was interrupted by the same annoying AI that wanted me to choose one their irrelevant options...and then they hung up on me...
I've decided to find a different service...it's too close to my renewal date to do it now...but I will find a service that respects its customers...
I called several different numbers including the one I found online for the corporate office in florida and got the same stupid AI that cut me off...no email for them in florida...
When I find it i will give them the story...but not my business.

magicJack upgrade
I find it unusual that magicJack does not have a way to contact them via email to make a complaint. Having said that they advertise an upgrade sale but then when I went to upgrade on 11-23-2022, they tack on a ridiculously high shipping charge and a handling fee that almost doubles the cost of the upgrade. So much for the sale!
I have been a customer for many years and find the currently offered upgrade to be a slap in the face with all the "extra" costs associated with the sale. The shipping should also be free to existing customers.

Refusal to refund overpaid account
I inadvertantly (over time) over paid for my service. Several reasons it happened:
My service would stop, I'd go to web site and it would state renew service now. I figured i was due to pay.
This happened again, I renewed service. After the 3rd time of renewing, I realized not that much time had eplapsed. I requested a refund from Customer Service.
Which in and of itself is the worst I have ever encountered on ANY other service of ANY kind. You have to have the patience of Job to even get through the automated system, they of course expect you to "self" customer service! but of course NO options to discuss billing. I went through phone tree after phone tree for almost 10 minutes until I finally got through to the "hold" section and that took 30 minutes and requested a refund
I was having problems all along with poor phone reception, noises, interuption of service etc. I have been a customer for many years.
I was told "management" would send an email, which they did a month later! Saying they had received my email and was processing it. Another month goes by with no updates. Same problem with long holds trying to get through to customer service, Only to be told we did send the response "the same day as your phone call" that it was denied. I never got that email, I only got the we got your email (and are ignoring it) msg. But I did get the one AFTER I was denied saying we are ignoring you. My advise, get a burner phone! They are clearly taking advantage of their customers, and I think they're time of business is at an end! Good Thing Cell phones are fairly inexpensive now.

That's when I gave up.

Offered a renewal for 29.00
Magic offered a renewal for 29.00 by may 31 2022 Istarted calliing around the May 28. I needed to change my credit card on the 28th. In which I was able to do. Once the credit card was changed I tried to get the offer. I couldnt reach the site. Magicjack said thier site was experencing an error. I contacted the renewal service they said once the error was fixed I would be able to get the rate I asked that my account would be noted that once the errow was fixed I would be allowed to get the rate. I talked to the rewnewal rep. he sent me to billing they said the offer had expired and was no longer availibe. I asked her did she see that my account had noted that I would be allowed to get the offer she said yes I can see that. I said did you see where they said I could get the rate she said yes I asked to speak to a supervisor she said I would have to email them. She said open my email and go to magicjacksupport.com. There is no such website. Renewing my phone number
They claim is was easy, so we did it on line but they claim we for the unit in which we have and paid for. So we try doing it on phone directly and paid again for the unit. We finally call them we got our money back, and renew our number. But their website sucks and their robot call to renew number sucks. They need to straighten out their website better so they (not us) can make stupid mistakes again.
Magicjack replacement upgrade units
I ordered replacement units 16 May 2022 and as of now I have not received received them.
I have called on several times and then like a tennis ball I get bounced around I get placed on endless hold until they hang up on me.
the support is computerized and rarely does it give you an opportunity to talk to a live person or the correct department

Voip phone service
I have had the service for many years and never had a problem with the service until recently when I started to experience my calls being disconnected during a conversation. Calls drop around 5-10 minutes and I need to call the other party back. I been contacting Magic Jack constantly to report this issue ( 20 times already) but this issue has not been solved yet. Everytime I communicate with them through their live chat (which is the only way by the way), I have to follow the same steps over and over again and at the end of the day, nothing is fixed.
It frustrating having to deal with poor service and useless tech support.
Desired outcome: I have already renew the service for 5 more years so I want my money back. I am fed up with their innefiency and lack of professionalism.
Device for phone calls from wifi or computer
On 4/11/22 I started to set up my new Magic jack Device. First problem was the internet cord and the phone cord would not come out of my previous device. Took me almost an hour and the use of pliers to get the phone cord out of that device.
Then Followed the directions provide in the box yet the device could not be found at their activation step. Device and computer were on the same network.
Called for help. Discovered MJ no longer has voice support. Was told to go to the website and how to get to the chat support. That proved useless since tech person would cut me off before could complete the task requested to do Get back to a screen where I could no longer type even to wait for another tech to come on to help. Typing was barred nothing happened when I tried to type.
Tried many times that night all with the same or worse results.
Told tech about the cords being suck but they still expected me to take the device and plug it into my computer a desktop across the room. It was impossible given the stuck cords holding it back.
After last attempt at chats I thought why not try to activate my older device and see if I could get it to be recognized. I plugged it into my apple computer and still it was not detected. The power went out and when I rebooted my computer the screen willed with messages ERROR... and lines of code and messages filled the screen and scrolled to fill more. Took out the device and had to reboot my computer 3 to 4 times before it finally got to the home screen! I really thought I would have to take it into a shop to be repaired.
I gave up for the night. On the 4/12/22 I decide to try their email to complain about not being able to set up the device. Got everything typed and one of their pull downs under "I have a question about" would not work. There were no choices that appeared to choose from. When I hit submit a message would pop up "Reason for contacting us is required. Please choose from above" There was nothing above to choose from! Again it was a dead end. Still no real help and a device that is not able to work and no help can be found! I have been a MJ customer for probably more than 20 years or almost for as long as they have been in business. I was always able to talk with a person for help. I even called to get my money back and was forced to give my information before the person on the other end would give me the number to the billing department who she said was the who I must talk to, to get my money back. Waited so long to tell me this that the department closed before she gave me the phone number. It has been a total nightmare!
Auto-renewal after 5 years on cc number they should not have had on file.
I have just been hit on 03/30/2022 with a $45.34 auto-renewal for 1 month.
I purchased a 5 year plan from MagicJack on 03/30/2017.
Used it for a while, but switched to a cell phone as long distance and talk time were no longer issues with mobile phones.
I haven't had the physical device in years.
I did not install the software on any computer since the original renewal (the computers and phones listed for me are years old and have not been used in many years. Coincidently, these devices are listed with "Re-activate" options.
I have no ability to see usage. (Possibly because there was none.)
The CC used to pay for this renewal did not exist at the time this service was purchased. MagicJack was able to submit a payment request on my new CC number! I'm not even sure how this is possible. My CC date was even updated to its current expiration date. (Which is impossible since cards are only good for 4 years and I last renewed in 2017.)
One additional note, the address they have on file does not match my address.
1. There are no CANCEL buttons anywhere on the “Account Management” screens.
a. As cancellation would be a normal process, this makes managing your account impossible.
2. Digging around eventually leads you to a help item, “To cancel your service”, you click “Turn off auto-renew” on a web page you cannot control in the future.
a. Screen shot the page after turning off Auto-renew.
b. *How does a customer prove they turned off auto-billing in a system they cannot control at all times?
3. If you drill down until you find the cancel my account immediately option, you must fill out a form that is redundant with everything on your Account Info page. A cancel button would make this convoluted process unnecessary.
a. This process is unnecessarily demanding of the customer and appears for all intents and purposes to be by-design.
4. If you choose to cancel your service, cancelling your service is immediate. You can no longer use the service. Further adding insult to injury is a notice of non-refund of the remaining service time, it is forfeit.
I do not know when MagicJack implemented their, "Turn off Auto-Pay" option.
A clear and concise CANCEL button is what is needed.
If you use this service, you should immediately check this renewal status.

Cannot transfer my account to different device.
My device quit and a frend gave me a magic jack they purchased a year ago and no longer use. Magic jack says devices can only be registered once and registration cannot be reset.
Desired outcome: Get MJ to transfer my account to my new (used) magic jack.

I have a brand new unit that doesn't work spent 4.5 hours talking to the supervisor Ren, along with the CSR that doesn't listen to anything you say. Also wasted 45 minutes with your tech.. All he could say is purchase a new one and that the old one was never used. Contact customer support. All they say is its a tech issue not there problem.
This is my 12 unit I installed and there will not be another. They do not know what customer service even means..

I purchased magic jack and got to use it one time then it claims I don't have an active account even though I have the invoice then I cancelled the account and later tried to install a new account but says I have an active account there is no place to complain since it claims the phone number they gave me does not exist. So there is no way to contact customer support without an active phone number which they show as does not exist. This is a failed app

Poor service and system glitches
A customer of magic Jack for many years, and, up to recently, having had no major problem with them, the situation has changed. I now have one and have tried to solve it on the phone without satisfactory result twice. For the second time, in a few days, I spent over one hour on the phone with them yesterday and the 2nd woman I talked to, from : "customer services", actually hung up on me despite the fact that I was perfectly courteous. She clearly was not.
Here is the chronology of my Magic Jack purchases:
Between 10 and 15 years ago, I purchases my first Magic Jack, a silver unit which plugged exclusively into the computer: # 727 279 8374 and I kept renewing the subscription in order to have it as a back-up while I travelled. I retired the first one and no longer renewed its subscription when I bought the third one.
2) A few years later, I bought a more modern Magic Jack, a black unit which could also be plugged independently: # 727 279 6956. (S/N : A 113200 1009 B3A). I renewed its subscription again or 5 years on 11.24.2020 for $150.80.3) In 2019, I bought a third and even more modern Magic Jack when I discovered that neither of my Magic Jacks worked with my new MacBook Air computer. This new Magic Jack phone number is 727 375 3736 (S/N : A119300 10-1D431).
The problems began when I decided to add International minutes to this new Magic Jack after renewing its subscription for 5 years this year. I went online using the 727 375 3736 Magic Jack in my computer to add the minutes. I was then informed that they had changed my number to 727 375 3322. I added $10.00 worth of minutes (which came to $14. 81 after taxes). Then, however, when I wanted to call using my minutes, I found I had none.
I called Magic Jack about a month ago, and received no information whatsoever. I called again yesterday for over an hour, and the only thing I was told is that they added the minutes to the number 727 375 3322 which they had apparently paired with my very old device which does not work any longer and for which have nor renewed a subscription.
When I asked them to straighten the situation out, they simply hung up on me.
I should also mention an issue I did not discuss with them: On the Magic Jack number 727 375 3736, I receive daily messages and calls from people who thing I am somebody else. This makes me think that they may have given that number to somebody else at the same time. This did not happen in the past and I am concerned about security.
Please help me sort out these problems: retrieve my minutes from the 727 375 3322 number which I cannot access and have them deposited to either 727 279 6956 or 727 375 3736 fr which I have functional Magic Jack.
I am very disappointed with their service which seems to have become inefficient and rude.

Renewed my subscription then device stopped working so I "replaced my device" afterwards the new device wouldn't register to account to see new subscription, I did live chat for an hour and a half, emailed tech support for about 3 weeks before that, no one could get it registered, they can't find new device on my account for whatever reason, they can't replace it saying I have to order another one and now they can't refund the other device due to being past 30 days (the 30 days in which I kept trying to register new device) called for a refund because I am over it and they can't refund "replacement device" nor can they refund the subscription because they just don't do that
