Marriott International personal injury

My name is Orlando Irizarry, SFC with the US Army for the last 19 years. On May 2010 I and my family decided to take a little vacation in Dallas. We decided to go to the Marriott Quorum hotel in Addison, which because of our past experience as a family and also as a Contract Review Officer for the Army in which hotel we had a family readiness program convention with all the family members of soldiers who are deployed in Afghanistan. We checked in on May 28th by being guess of a current Marriott Employee, who faxed the required documentation to the lobby counter. We requested that a refrigerator and microwave be sent to our room ASAP due to our baby. It took about 5 hours and multiple calls to finally get what was promised. One of the Managers on Duty so understood that she even gave us a complementary breakfast for my entire family. Around midnight of May 30th the invoice/bill was sent underneath our door. My wife did open the bill and noticed that there were phone calls charged that were not made by us. At that moment my wife called the front desk to dispute the charges. Billy Williams, Manager on Duty after arguing with my wife over two phone calls worth less that $2 dollars did accused me and my wife of taking advantage of the hotel by asking for free stuff, free meals, calling the front desk to place false complaints. Mr. Williams also had the audacity of calling our friend’s supervisor to tell him that we were an inconvenience to the Addison hotel. I went to bed humiliated, ashamed and disgusted by the way that we were identify, targeted and accused. Few hours later I woke up with my heart racing. Around 0600 we called the front desk to request an EMT to check my heart. EMTs from the Addison Fire Department came in to our room at which time an EKG was performed at which time I was having an Atrial Fribulation. My heart was beating around bits per minute. Right in front of my entire family I was transported by the Addison Fire Department to the Baylor Plano Heart Hospital at which time I was placed in ICU. When I called my wife from ICU she told me that she felt helpless by not knowing anyone in Dallas, by also having to care of our three girls, age range from 12 to 1 year old and not knowing the area. I asker if the hotel provided any assistant to mitigate the suffering. Her answer was no, no one called from the hotel to render any assistant while I was in ICU. As a matter of fact the day time manager did acknowledge to my wife that the fact that Mr. Billy Williams called our sponsor’s friend’s supervisor to complaint against us was inappropriate at which time she did apologized for it. Because of not having anyone in Dallas to care for my wife and three girls she was forced to extend her stay for one more night with almost no money to pay for just because she did not know anything about Dallas nether the hotel provided any help. I was given anxiety medication while in ICU just to cope with my family situation at the Marriott. This is a hotel that does have a complementary shuttle service to take any west 360 degree around the hotel to any park, restaurant or other amenities but not even offered to my wife to be with me at the hospital. The following day, May 30th I was discharged from the Hospital at which time a friend came in all the way from Austin just to pick me up to go back to the hotel to check out. When I crossed that lobby I felt humiliated and ashamed by the way we were mistreated and humiliated. May be the fact that we are Hispanics may have been a factor, but we are all US Citizens by birth and army career with 19 years of service.

Today my wife called the hotel again to gather some names in order to get all the information for a legal review by the Texas Bar Association. Linn the Manager on Duty was amazed with all the things that happened through the process. I have been on convalescent leave since the day that I left the hotel on May 30th until tomorrow when I am having a heart ablation to see what kind of damage was caused by the incident in May. I have been under blood thinner ever since and facing a possible medical discharge by the Army. While on the phone with Linn I was transferred to Mr. Russell from the Lost Prevention Department to make an official report. The way that Mr. Russell talked to me and my wife was the way that a criminal investigator talks to a suspect/subject. She was arrogant, mean, challenging and rude to a point when he told me that he did not have time for me. That is the kind of typical behavior and customer service expected by the Marriott Quorum Addison hotel employees. I am an ex Military Police Investigator with plenty of investigative background and the way that we were treated by the lost prevention employee at the Marriott Quorum was the same way that Q & A was the same way that suspects and subjects are subject under.

On 16th July 2010 I was admitted at the ST. David’s Medical Center in Austin TX where I got heart surgery which took about five hours to repair electrical abnormalities around my heart. I have an 8 week recovery and placed on convalescent leave until July 26th. I have to take blood thinner for the next 6 months and monitor my heart rate every week. Based upon my cardiologist findings it has been determined that stress could be a trigger for the last incident that took place at the Marriot Quorum by the Galleria. No coronary disease was found that could trigger the last attack. My three days stay at the hotel left a lifetime physical and emotional scar.

Marriott International horrible service

Worst stay ever-Courtyard Marriott Marina del Rey, CA. I am still in the midst of the worst hotel stay of my life. I have left msgs. for both the front desk mgr. and the general manager Victor Randall about my complaints/concerns, and NO ONE has contacted me back. My room is ice cold even with the heat cranked up high-I had asked for a king and got a double so I'm lucky to have extra blankets taken from the other bed! The tub doesn't drain, the faucet leaks, and worst of all, the showerhead isn't tightened and sprayed out and got the entire bathroom and towels wet. Ive spent as little time here as possible, but due to the issues, have slept very poorly! My room wasn't cleaned-i guess because I had to sleep in the other morning as I was freezing! The front desk has not been either friendly or responsive in the least. I just stayed at a Marriott Courtyard in Seattle in Oct/Nov, and it was nowhere near as bad as this place. I'm writing several bad reviews on multiple travel and review websites, and I will also be pursuing a full refund for this stay and with my bank! I guess since I booked it through Priceline it will be more of a challenge, but this place has made my trip horrible! I am so upset and unhappy! No one, even if they book with a discount, as I'm sure that most of the guests have given the state and disrepair of this property, should be treated so poorly. I will be writing letters to the corporate office, Priceline, my bank, and the BBB, as well as potentially taking further action if warranted. I'm sure this email will also be ignored, but I will be taking all of the actions as described above. I have one more night in this hellhole and then I promise you I will make sure every possible consumer watch site, hotel review, travel site, yelp, citysearch, etc... hears about my stay. It would be nice if someone here gave a crap about their job and one of the managers would call me back or the front desk people actually responded to my complaints and offered solutions. I am so angry and disgusted, as well as exhausted from insomnia being uncomfortable and miserable.

I feel the responsiblilty to describe the terrible situation about a girl who had a real nightmare instead of what supposed to be a great holiday.I saw a girl in a wheelchair who almost fainted in a restaurant close to the marriott village. I asked her why she was in so much pain. I suggested her to bring her back to the hotel because the two girls didn't had a car anymore. They had a hummer but the friend of girl left already and she had to stay because she was not able to fly. When I asked her how this could happen she told me everything. NEVER HEARD SOMETING LIKE THIS BEFORE> WHAT a NIGHTMARE.She started to cry and told me that she had an accident in the courtyard marriott village. She was allready in wheelchair because of a complication in surgery (spinal cord injury). So this was already quite something. She stayed in this hotel for many times before. Had a room 1123 with roll in shower. March 11 while she was taking her shower, she heard a very hard crack and a part of the wall including part of the seat came down. I copied her pictures because I was interesting in this story. She felt and hurt her head, hip, her toenail felt of after a few days and last but not least her fingers and whole arm were in very much pain and some kind of numbness. After this fall she was not able to ride her own wheelchair anymore. From this point her whole holiday was over (including her friends because they had to bring her everything sice she was not able to ride her own wheelchair anymore. She planned her holiday from the 1st till march 25th. She went to see a doctor in a walk inn clinic in Lake Buena Vista. He advised her a Mri and see a specialist. She wanted to go home but her tickets were not flexible so had to stay. Her pain started to get worse and worse every day. The day i saw her, her pain was unbearable you could tell. She went to see a doctor again and he advised her a Mri and gave her a drug called dilauded (hydromorphine) because the pain was so severe. She even didn't sleep since that fall. So she was also very very exhausted. She had the Mri and the outcome was not very well. Some severy injuries. I can't be specific because I don't know if this will end up in a lawsuit or that marriott international will take care of this in very decent way. This is not all. I almost couldn't believe what see told me next: at march 25th the day she was to fly home but had to stay because she was so severe injured and in so much pain she first needed further treatment in the jewett clinic, she was going to the toilet in that same bathroom 1123, she felt again because the bar came down from the wall.. They blamed it in her because she grapped the towelbar. I went with her to this room. There was nothing to blame on her. The construction was totally rotten ( got pictures from this) and it was on the wrong place. The towelbar was hanging above the normal grapbar and since the towels were hanging over the other bar nobody was able to grap himself to the other bar (was hidden under the towels. You would always grap the bar above also when you would slip or something. Blame it on you Marriott.Very good clinic the jewett btw. She needed treatment and was not allowed to fly untill she had the treatment. She had to stay till at least april 9th. When she came back from the clinic she talked to the general manager again and til him that she had to stay at least untill that date and that she and the marriott had quite a situation here. He told her that she could only stay untill that sunday the 2th, after that he was fully booked. Since iám a elite reward member of marriott I really couldn't believe my ears. I just looked on the internet at hotelscombined and marriottsite itself but there was still availiblity after that sunday. So he was not telling the truth. How could he, she was allready exhausted and anxious about the whole situation. the pain was unbearable and due to this hotel and they treath her like this? The only offer he had btw was that they could have a free breakfast and 3 nights for free. After she told him that this was not fair because she doesn't want to stay but because of her injuries was not able and even not allowed because she didn't get a fit to fly from the doctors. After this conversation he told her that she could stay for free till that sunday. How is this all possible? The manager even told her that he was told by marriott international to do nothing for her because of possible claim or lawsuit. THIS IS NOT HUMAN MARRIOTT! She even had to pay for the the ibuprofen, one of her friends had to stay with her because she even couldn't go to toilet at her own. The manager promised her that they would bring her friend to the supermarket if she needed groceries. Later on he told that could not do that, this was only of she was staying there alone without company. The car was back to alamo, because the friend had to leave, only one could stay. So they had to take a taxi. Her creditcard was declined of all the medical cost so I suggested to pay for the rest of her stay since I felt so involved and felt so sorry for those girls. She didn't want it...The clinic also told her that marriott had to take care for her medical bills and told her even ""don't let the hotel get away with this.She also asked if it was possible that the hotel would provide her diner. But they told her that she could get a reduction and that's all. Wow, how rude they were responsible for everything. I advised her strongly to leave this hotel after all this lies and not humane behaviour to go to another hotel right away. So I arranged that for her. They should pamper her after all this. Iám traveling for bussines all over the world. Iám a MD myself so I also saw the films which looked not so good. Also a marriott elite reward member. I consider not staying again in any Marriot again. My partners were also shocked about al this. I contacted fox television miss Woolbright will you please contect me again? about this horrific story, I got all the information and pictures you need. Iám very convinced that we must do everything to help this girl and let marriott not get away with this.The girl tried to settle with the hotel. In my opininion she is to soft agains marriott and the general manager. She must sew them. The general manager told her after she visited the jewett clinic he would contact the claim adjuster that same day and that he would contact her again. She didn't hear a thing. She was so concerned and anxious that they would kick her out after that sunday that was making the the situation much more serious. She even had to pay for the ibuprofen they provided her. She also had a prescription from the jewett clinic. Her friend was not able to get (no car)it so asked the hotel. She needed them asap but never happened because the costs were 180 usd. She was not able to pay for it anymore. I want to make 1 point very clear: this is my first review ever. But this is the most terrible situation I ever saw in my whole life! Sue and Michael Anderson from grand rapids michigan please contact me and reactions from ather people who wanna show sympathy are more than welcome to contact me. At the moment Iám back in Finnland but will be back in Florida next week. Marriott: don't you feel anything? no humane feelings? You could at least offer her and her friends a whole new holiday including car, tickets and everything for 25 days. I can't blame that she never ever want to stay in this hellhotel again, but you could offer her at least a stay in the JW where I stay most of the times or the biggest marriott. You really have to do something and pamper her after she is a little bit better. Off course there will be a claim or lawsuit because of the injuries and all the expenses and don't forget about your horrible treatment! But you can offer her a new holiday, this got nothing to do with a claim or lawsuit...NOTHING JUST SHOWING SYMPATHY AND THAT YOY ARE FEELING EMBARRASSED ABOUT THIS WHOLE SITUATION. This is the least you can do. I was not staying is this hotel but in the JW. BTW: this young woman is a light weight (

Marriott International no cancellation policy

I'd like to help folks understand that booking online for this hotel through Marriott.com can lead to a reservation that cannot be cancelled. While I expect that through travel consolidation sites such as Expedia or Travelocity, I did not expect that to happen when I booked directly through Marriott.com. When I called and asked for a reconsideration of this policy, both the hotel and a national supervisor refused. I will not book again with Marriott if I can help it. I should be grateful if Bethesda Marriott Suites were to refund the money they've already charged me.

While I expect that through travel consolidation sites such as Expedia or Travelocity, I did not expect that to happen when I booked directly through Marriott.com. When I called and asked for a reconsideration of this policy, both the hotel and a national supervisor refused. I will not book again with Marriott if I can help it. I should be grateful if Bethesda Marriott Suites were to refund the money they've already charged me.

I guess you booked a non-refundable room which is usually less than the "regular" rate... There is a reason it costs less money - because it comes with restrictions. I can't really blame them for non refunding the money as you agreed to it when you booked the room on their website. Sorry.

Marriott International conveniences

We booked a stay at the courtyard marriott under expedia.com. On christmas day my daughter cut her finger, since the hotel had no notions store on any vending machines I set he to the reception desk for a band aid. The maintenan man or engineering told her that "the hotel had no responsibility to give her a bandaid". When my daughter said she would buy one he said they didn't have to sell her one. Under ths circumstance my daughter suggested that it might be wise to have first aid kits for sell. Then the reception desk person said they had some but they were sold out. Finally as she stood there with a bloody finger the gave her a band aid. Since it was christmas and the nearest convenience store two blocks away was closed I found the whole thing a little stupid. It was one band aid for god's sake not brain surgery.

Also, the hotel had a virtually nonexistent restaurant that was only open for breakfast - no room service - and the minimum was limited as well as expensive. All in all I would give the courtyard marriott on julia street a d +.

Marriott International parking rip off

Marriott makes rooms available through Priceline at what one is led to believe are discount rates: until you get to the hotel and are slapped with outrageous parking and other fees. Then, they use the 'well, you signed the contract' defense.

So, here's a little retail tip for both Priceline and Marriott: Treat your customers fairly and they stay loyal, but nobody that has been ripped off by your companies are coming back. People that want to use Priceline, etc. thinking they are getting a bargain, are not happy to find that Priceline and Marriott cooperate to rip consumers off at both ends.

Marriott International watch your credit card charges

Stayed for New Years Eve Party in Downtown Dayton, Ohio on 09/10 Party and was charged an extra $40.04 when checking in even though entire bill was paid in advance. Called Hotel and was told this is standard practice IN CASE there was any damage which there was not and that charge would be reversed in 5-7 days if I called and requested it (BULL). I stay in hotels on a regular basis and have never heard such crap. Will not use Marriott again! Appently things are so bad that paying customers have to watch thier back at all times.

Marriott International scam

Long story short... We booked an overnight stay at the courtyard marriott in cancun. We chose the marriott because we trust the chain and because they offered a free airport shuttle. Upon arrival I realized I had misplaced the number to call for the shuttle but I wasn't worried because marriott is such an honorable chain. After exiting baggage claim I searched for over an hour for someone to help me with a phone or contact info for the courtyard marriott. Not even the representative from the other marriott in cancun would help. Finally we were assisted by a mexican tourist official miguiel manesro who offered to call our hotel. According to mr. Manesro he spoke to a jose ernesto perez at the courtyard marriott. Mr. Perez told him the shuttle was busy and we should take a taxi to the marriott and we would be reimbursed. Upon arrival at the cancun marriott courtyard we were rudely informed that no one by the name of perez worked at the hotel and they were not about to reimburse us for our taxi charge. I asked for the manager and was infromed that mr. Juses marin was the supivisor on duty. He refused to do anything to help us - basically blaming the problem on us as we didn't personally call. Finally after I nearly had a melt down, mr. Marin remembered that indeed there was a manager on duty... Mr. Cristales. We met with him and he offered to give us a free dinner. I didn't want a free dinner. I wanted the staff at the marriott to help me resolve my being ripped off. No one at the marriott was willing to do anything to get to the bottom of this matter making me believe they were in "cahoots" with my rip off. Bottom line... The management at the marriott courtyard are not your friends!

Marriott International false job offer

I received an appointment letter from Marriott Residence hotel asking to join them as a food and beverage officer.The date of joining was given as jan 5th 2009 which is very funny.They have offered a package of 4800pounds per month and have given contact details of one Mr.Richard Stagg.I knew all this was an act of Fraud but wanted to kow what exactly these guys are upto.I called Mr.Stagg but there was no response.Looks like the guys have become alert now.Why is all this happening and when and who is gonna take action against them.These guys need to be taught a lesson.Good that i went through these complaints before i could do anything.I have attached the appointment letter that i received so that people who receive such kind next time wont beleive such a letter and they can set it aside and continue their day to day work.Pls do something and stop these guys before they could reach thousands of others.

Marriott International treat employees like slaves

This place treats their employees like crap and as if they were slaves! People get injured there and the company lets them almost bleed to death. Someone I know works there and there are many people who really need the job.Unfortunately there are those gossipers that try to sabotage their job that feeds their family. This is very unfair because the crooked managers take their word for it and give innocent people warnings or threaten to fire them. Of course, these people need a job and they take it. Also, they give them so much work since they fire people and never replace them. Then when the employees ask for help they also get threatened that if they cant do the job, then they will be replaced. How can such an upscale company do this? The employees don't even go to have lunch where they are supposed to because they are working during lunch time. If they don't finish at the time they are told, then they are given a warning even if it is a minute late. We are not in the slave times anymore and this company is very unethical in that way. They think that because people cant speak English, they don't have the right to defend themselves. There was also a time when the daughter of the person I know was sick at school and they called work to have them pick her up. They didn't even bother to let her know until hours later. What kind of crap is this? This company really does not care for its employees regardless of how loyal and hardworking they are. I wish we can do something about this. Can someone let me know if they have had a similar experience with this chain or this location in particular.?There are so many more things to be said about this company but not a lot of time to say everything.

Marriott International fraud alert

I got a phone call, and they offer me a package to go to Orlando for 4day and 3nights, every time, so I paid $190 and never got my vacation or my money back. or never received a confirmation letter.I had the phone number they gives me, and couple times some one answer the phone they said I cant use the package, because I have to pre - book it, so I asked them to pre book it for me, and they give me a different # number, to call, that # was not valid, after week end past I called them back it so this # is no longer in service, so I lost my money. I lost the phone # also. So all I can Say if a marketer calls you and offer you a vacation package do not buy it, because they take your money and don't get anything on returned. do not give your Credit Card over the phone to no one that you don't know.

The simplest idea is to check on google if this particular hotel really exists... I suspect it doesn't, the job offer is a scam.

Marriott International ignored burglery in room!

While vacationing at a Marriott, 2 teenage boys climbed up to our second floor room and entered via the balcony. They stole numerous items, including ipods, nintedos DSI's, games, cameras, headphones, and liquor.
Although their parents made them return our stuff and remained anonymous, th kids kept some stuff and returned our other things in poor condidtion! Marriott is not offering to help in any way and is being stingy about giving us a new holiday even! For a few hundred dollars, they do not even want to care a bit about this awful experience!

I usually have a decent room with Marriott wherever I ahve stayed arond the world. So, I don't know if this is just a one-off or not, but I recently stayed in one in the Southampton area and was really disappointed by the level of cleanliness of my room. The bduvet was especially dirty and smelled very bad. To be fair, they did come and replace it, but it left a bad taste in my mouth for the rest of the weekend and I wondered what else was potentially dirty.

The hotel room in the Fairfield Inn, Orlando, Lake Buena Vista in the Marriott Village had a number of safety issues and was not ADA compliant. I sustained bruising of my chest and a laceration on my face after hitting the edge of an outward opening bathroom door that was left ajar. The incident occurred while I was trying to make my way to the door of the hotel room as the ADA buzzer was ringing without the required ADA visual alarm in the hallway. The hallway was dark and there was no light switch to turn on along my path.

Hotel management said they would provide an adjustment to the room charge because of the incident but failed to come through on their word. Marriott Claims Services indicated they would pay my medical bills but subsequently changed their mind. It appears Marriott compromises safety and their integrity to maximize profits. I would not want others to put themselves and their families at risk with this company.

Oh! CustomerServiceDept -So now you are a lawyer in your spare time! I do not know the entire facts in this case but I do know that a hotel would not be exempt in a case where negligence on the hotels part can be proved. for example, it would be negligent for the hotel to have doors that didn't lock properly. That would not fall under the responsiblity of the patrons. Or, having windows that are easily accessed to teenagers that like to steal. It seems as if the hotel patrons exercised caution by securing their door when they left that it would be expected that their belongings would remain untouched. How did the teenagers get in? How do the windows lock? How did they climb the balcony without being detected? Where are the parents? All these questions need to be asked. If the hotel was not responsible for ANY theft, then what is to stop the employees/owners or othe patrons from ransacking every room and taking what they wanted when they wanted. Wouldn't it be prudent to make sure that an establishment hires individuals who don't have criminal records and make sure there is enough secuity to keep the patrons safe from harm. Wouldn't it be more prudent to follow through with police reports and documentation. Instead of keeping these yahoos anonymous, why not have them held responsible and make amends like they used to in the good old days? Restitution would be a good start to get the victims back on track again. These teenagers and their parents should be held accountable for the theft.

No, of course this is SPAM. Why would Marriott, a world-wide organization, be using a yahoo UK email address and not a corporate address. Second, there is no Marriott Residence Hotel, there is only a Residence Inn chain owned by Marriott. Third, why would it say "individual who wants to learn all aspects of pastry". Pastry, what does pastry have to do with working at a hotel.

This is not meant to harass your company specifically, it is just idiot spammers at work again. I would have to guess that, if you really were to contact them, they would want money up front for references or something, money you would never see again.

Hi my name is suma vinoj from kerala, I got the same offer and job appointment letter, after I had send all my cettificates. They told me to sent my passport details and deposit Rs. 30, 000. i asked them for some assurance for my money, but they have never replyed so far.
this is really fraud case and please friends dony fall in such trap.

I have recived same mail as your's. I had confirmed about it birtish high comission delhi. They said it is fake there is no opennigs in marriott hotel in london...Avoid it

They told me to contact robert ashley whom I called and was told to sent my passport details and deposit Rs. 30, 000. I smelled fish. why should we pay the amount when we are offered the job. they can deduct from our salary and searched the internet and found that it is a fraud. do not fall in the trap.

THIs is samarjit from punjab i also got an mail from marriott residance hotel london branch i also have some kind dought that these are looking so much fake. because when i call on the given number and i said to them for paying my visa charges after approaching on the venue they totally refused me.

now i believe these are totally faked ..

guys beware from these kind of indeciplined acts...

I have some reasons not to believe these emails to be true.
First, the mistakes in the English Grammar. Can a Britisher's email have English Grammar mistakes?
Second, check the phone numbers (eg. Daniel Thomas 0044-[protected]
0044-[protected] ) in UK Phone Directory. All are fake. No results are displayed.
Third, no person is associated with Holiday Inn named Daniel Thomas, when you make a search in google, etc.
