Paul Davis Restoration - Horrible customer service!
I had a very disappointing experience with Paul Davis Restoration Experts (Birmingham store). The company’s customer service is terrible. They have been extremely unresponsive and unhelpful when it comes to addressing concerns or resolving issues. I have been waiting for a refund they promised months ago, but they keep delaying with vague excuses (e.g...

Damaged siding
Paul Davis sub contracted a company to restore a house that caught fire while putting the siding on the house a piece of siding blew into my house damaging my brand new siding..my insurance and I have called and left several messages to Jessica Young..we have had no response from her about the damage ..I have to question the integrity of the Dartmouth Nova Scotia office very unprofessional..
Desired outcome: Paul Davis to repair at their expense..
I want my things back that are rightfully my own.
Unprofessional company. From the very beginning they wouldn’t show up when they had to and an expensive toolbox went missing. After constant probing all of a sudden the toolbox appeared. Before the end of the claim, I was to get my rugs delivered on Friday, May 5th. They never arrived. It’s now almost been two months and they have been ignoring my calls ever since. I don’t understand how a business like this can bluntly steal people’s things with no consequences.
Home rebuild due to Fire - New Mexico
My home burned down in Las Vegas, NM July 18, 2021. Home caught fire requiring kitchen rebuild then recaught fire next day and the day after causing a full home rebuild. Paul Davis was provided to me by my insurance company which now they say they didn't which is a separate issue. Paul Davis began work on September 23rd 2021. Today is April 25th 2023 and still incomplete. Insurance put me in a home for a year about an hour away from the Las Vegas home. I drove up once a month to get mail. I saw early December wood had been delivered to the home. I was exctited for them to really get started. I showed up again in January wood in same place. Showd up in February wood in same place. Neighbord called me early february 2022 let me know she saw someone come steal some of the wood. Let Paul Davis know and they got more money from insurance to replace the stolen wood and set back things another couple months. I was told home would be done in August of 2022. Then got moved to September, october, november etc.. Moved in with family since insurance only covers me for a year and im already paying mortgage. I was later told January 2023 it will be done. I went and checked it out in january and interior all needed to be done. February 2023 with new foreman let me know home is complete other than a couple interior lights and electrical inspection. I asked if it was closed can I plan to move my things in. I was told yes. I haed to go back to New Mexico first weekend of March so took my things in uhual from Phoenix arizona where I been staying after the first year with family. I got there in March and saw they changed the layout of the home by adding a huge pantry in the kitchen that is already a small kitchen (Would lose value of home if wanted to sell) I moved my things in but didnt set much up since work still needed to be done. Floor in living room hasn't been touched. Layout change, broken window, area for refrigerator was 29 1/2 inches where a standard fridge is 30 inches so couldn't put the fridge in. Cabinets were put up not even closed to how they should be and very unprofessional. End of March was told they need to add a vent because it failed inspection. Since I was going to be waiting longer I expressed my concerns. No response for 3 weeks on this so I decided to finally get a rental since I have gotten married and have a baby on the way through all this going on and need to settle somewhere. I just signed a year lease on April 14th, 2023 and two days later I am told they are fixing all the issues and will be completed in two weeks. That would have been great information two weeks prior for now im a year lease and will have to sell the home now since I cant afford two homes. So now I have to pay for another uhual to move my things back to Arizona from New Mexico into my rental. Which that back and forth has caused me $3,000 dollars. Again, as of right now April 25th I am told the job will be done in the next two weeks for I got the call last week Thursday April 20th will be complete in two weeks. If accurate this will be May 2023 for completion. From start of work in September of 2021 to now we are at 18 months.
Desired outcome: I would like rent paid for the remaining months after August 2022 provided completion date. that it has taken due several months of the home being untouched through this process costing me now a year of rent money.

Restoration
My family and I got scammed by Paul Davis Restoration. We had a flood in our master bathroom and closet. Paul Davis Restoration started the job by ripping apart our bathroom and closet, down to bare boards. In doing so, they did extensive damage to the floor, bathtub, and more. Furthermore, they took payment in the form checks, from my 78 year old father-in-law, then they never came back. They destroyed our house and literally stole money from an old man. For 5 months now, we have been trying to get them to either (a) finish the job, or (b) return the checks that they fraudulently stole and cashed. They've done neither, and again, it's been 5 months! These people are thieves, and this company is a scam.
Desired outcome: Return money they fraudulently stole
Construction/renovation
In June of 2022, I had a pipe burst in my bathroom floor that broke into bathroom, kitchen and down to my basement. I had a faulty pipe that was replaced by a plumber. I contacted my insurance company and they referred me to Paul Davis Restoration based out of Harleysville, Pennsylvania. This company never took the time out to look at my duct work in my basement, floors, countertops, walls, electrical sockets, appliances or furnace to assess for water damage. After doing the job my floor was not done properly or even done completely. I notified the facility and they were less than helpful. I then had Carbon Monoxide and Gas issues along with faulty appliances that I paid for out of my pocket that seemed to "go bad" after this pipe breaking. My son and I were hospitalized in the Emergency Room for Carbon Monoxide exposure as well. I received threatening emails and phone calls regarding my bill also. Everytime I notified the business they were very rude, unhelpful and refused to be held accountable for their terrible work from their business. I am now out of pocket thousands of dollars, mine and my son's health was compromised and I still have work that was not completed appropriately.
Desired outcome: I would like my bills reimbursed and my account wiped to a zero balance.
Restoration in Michigan
If I could give them a negative star I would. It took 8 months longer than they promised, they would not respond to calls or texts, and did work I had to keep calling them about for them to fix. Their inability to get it done in a reasonable amount of time made us miss the housing boom. It contributed a lot of stress to the settlement of our parents estate.
Contractors Beware.. they don't pay for services rendered
PD hired my construction company to help 2 homeowners get back in their homes after 11 months of being displaced. We were excited to work with a large company. PD told us to go put their house back together, we sent estimate and got to work. The homeowner was so happy after they had 2-3 other contractors who were taking forever. Customers were very unhappy with PD, said they were rude/unprofessional. They loved us, and we truly cared about them. We used $9K of our own money. They were paying in draws that kept getting smaller and smaller as time went on. We finished and sent final bill, they will not pay. And they stop payment on last little check they gave us for floating a floor/laying flooring, we were in the middle of the job so we couldn't to finish. With no money coming in, how can we pay our workers. The homeowner offered to fight for us, we told them no, it's PD who was in the wrong. God blessed us with more work, we made payments to our plumber/flooring guy Truly sad that a big company the insurance companies recommend can treat their contractors so badly. I could put a lien on the homeowners house but that's not right, they had nothing to do with it. I'm thinking about small claims court, or just telling everyone I know to never use Paul Davis. I am also a real estate agent, and I will tell my agent contacts and customers, friends and fellow contractors to beware of them. They are bullies, they lie & cheat. Bad business. I bet this franchise will not be around for long.
Desired outcome: I want my $14,000 for services rendered.

Your Paul Davis total estimate was$ 2987.35 that would leave a balance of 1298.88 after Insurance payments, if all of the work had been done satisfactorily, but it was not either done or not performed to standards and had to be completed by someone else. The issue comes down to work estimated and work actually performed. I dispute your claim amount that you have turned over to your collection agency and I have sent them this notice also. A complaint can / will be filed against Paul Davis with the Wasington Attorney Generals office for unfair business practices on this matter, if you and I cannot come to a resolve. The above details have been discussed on the phone and in person with you and other Paul Davis personel two years ago, many times. Each time was with a new employee, assigned to collect monies that were not due to Paul Davis. I had to spend my valuable time reinforming the Paul Davis employee of the situation because they were not actually involved in any of the work. To bring up the matter after two years is highly suspicious of validity in just the time frame, but factor in, no invoiceing statements or billing absolutely raises the red flag for fraudulent workman ship billing pravctices. Its well documented Paul Davis company is highly disorganized, has incompetent personnel and performs substandard work for consumers. This is the reason why Paul Davis was fired from this job before any more damage could be done to my home by them.
I met with Paul Davis Company with our Insurance on Dec 22, 2020 at 1:00Pm. We discussed the charges and damages caused by Paul Davis and the conclusion was no more work would be done, Paul Davis was liable for the damages to a mirror, a vanity and plumbing and inferior remediation and cleanup of the water damage. The outcome was no more monies were owed for remediation on this project. This damage their workers caused, caused more costs to me when the basement was actually repaired by another contractor. The bottom line is its a bad work by Paul Davis and PAul Davis Damaged me and my home. Now two years later, The Paul Davis Co. is trying to collect on a case that has been closed. Paul Davis has stopped communication and turned over to a law firm collection agency in Texas threatening home ownership liens. This would be under false pretenses and if they desire to partake we will let a 'Washington Superior court decide their fate and damage done to me. I share this to disclose their shady business threats and practices on this online forum.
Also Paul Davis has NEVER issued a Invoice or a balance statement and their represent Kevin Delude, stated on a phone call on 9-20-21 that they were not required to do so and would not provide such. I have provided them with a accounting and it shows no monies are due to Paul Davis Co et al, .
Desired outcome: Close third party collections zero balalnces due.
Cut up your boat's anchor rope for the sandbags!
Paul Davis crew came out and put a tarp and sandbags on our roof. Today when we were removing the sandbags, we were SHOCKED to find their crew had taken the anchor rope for our boat anchor and cut it up to secure the sandbags to the tarp. The rope costs about $25.00 to replace, but that is not the point. It was in our garage, so the crew was in there...

over a year in temporary housing. I lost my home to fire on oct 6 2016 ... scared and really lost ... my insurance company recommended paul davis restoration so not ever having been thru this, I went with there recommendation... my home has no walls .. no ceiling ...no floors ... the refrigerator was just removed frm the home 2 wks ago... jan 2018 ... what does a person do? after asking to speak with project manager supervisor I given the name of " joanne" and that she would return my call ... 19 days later still no response... insurance has paid for the entire restoration in full ...
wouldn't want another person to go thru this
Same here...house flooded and structural, flooring damage in over half the home...emails and phone calls sent for 6 weeks as of 8/26/20...they have insurance money and my 500 dollar check (already cashed) but not even an email response. I have a tenant living in the home (a relative). I plan to sell it contingent on the repairs being done. He recently had a heart attack, has high blood pressure, and received 2 injuries due to exposed concrete, nails etc in bathroom and most of the house. I am concerned for my family member, and how it is affecting his health. My project manager's voice mail is full. He's been away for 2 of the 6 weeks. I can't get through main office after hours due to needing a code of some sort. I wonder if it were his home he would be happy with a contractor not responding. The project manager knows all these issues. Lip service on the project manager's part does no good if it isn't the truth and there's no follow-through! I don't recommend their services.
Oh, the damage occurred June 28th so my family member, who had the heart attack beginning of May and is paralyzed on one side of his body, has been living in this situation for 2 months now. Financially, he can't afford to go anywhere else. Just trying to help him out through a tough time, and never imagined all this would happen.
can't get past getting an estimate, let alone get my roof fixed
Wow, i need to take a deep breath on this one. Frustrating beyond belief is an understatement. My children, age 17 and 20, were putting away Christmas decorations in our attic and noticed the roof leaking as well as snow inside our attic. Paul Davis Restoration ("PDR") was one of the referrals from State Farm to get an estimate. PDR told me they do NOT give appointments for estimates (which were not FREE but $150 which would be put towards the work if you used them for the repair) but will come and do the repairs all in one day. WTF. Isn't the point of getting an estimate to know the complete damage to your roof and to get an estimate for the work they will perform. So when I called on Friday, Denise told me they would call me on Monday with a timeframe for the guy to come by and take pictures and/or drawings that would then need to be taken back to their office for the adjuster to give us an estimate. Denise, apparently after working all weekend insisted I never called on Friday therefore I was not on the Monday list. The call got so heated I had to hang up on Denise. It was clear good customer service was lacking. Denise called back in less than 5 minutes and since I was still fuming from the previous call my husband answered the phone and Denise apologized and said she had made the mistake and we will get a call in the morning to give us a timeframe for our estimate. I did in fact get a call in the morning from Denise asking if i had heard from Tyrone, and I replied with no. I never received that call and told my husband if they showed up to cancel the estimate and tear up the $150 check. After this review I will be following up with the head of Paul Davis Restoration.
roof
This contractor was recommended to re roof our home. They put no flashing around the chimney. this company again. When removing the roof, roofing nails were everywhere on the ground. We had seven roof leaks after they were done. We had to get another company to fix them at an additional cost. In addition, the employees did not wear harnesses while on the roof. It is a one story home. I would not hire these guys to do anything. The All State recommended them. I will never listen to All State again and I will never hire
company agreed to pay me for work they did not do.
They told me if I did the clean up and repair of cabinets they would pay me. They did not pay. I called, emailed, faxed, left messages and no response. Then I get an offer in the mail to settle for way less then the bill. They signed the offer and I did as well. So now we have a binding contract . Still they did not pay the bill. Now they will not even return my calls. The wont even answer the phone. They have lied to me and cheated me. I even called the main company and they were no help at all. They said what a local dealer does or does not do is not their business. If its not their business then why is their name on the trucks? No one should ever use them again.
They charged the insurance company to clean the couch two times for way more then a new couch would cost. Then when it was time to return it they couldn't even find it. It was missing.
Obviously they cant control any part of there company. Don't use Paul Davis Restoration out of Breman
Fuel card
This is a fake company that is operated from outside of the country. They illegally charge fees and send out the bills late and charge late fees. They are a complete a total rip off. All you need to do to verify this is call their customer service line to see how incompetent they are. I asked for my previous month invoices and they claimed that the new system had lost that information for previous billing. It only went back 3 weeks to the start of the new system online. I am disgusted with allowing my company to do business with this people. I have since cancelled my application with the slammers.
Restoration
This company was referred to me by Liberty Mutual Insurance. It was the Only referral given to me. I wasn't familiar with this company but assumed Liberty Mutual Insurance would refer a qualified contractor. I called Paul Davis Restoration. This company used a few humidifiers to remove water from a busted water pipe on the hot water tank that flooded over 75% of my house. The water was so deep it puddled around your feet when you stepped on the carpet. Paul Davis did not recommend replacing ANYTHING. I had to fight the insurance company to replace damaged flooring. This happened in January. Here it is DECEMBER, and I'm still dealing with the gross negligence of this company. Because they did not follow proper procedure for restoration, there is mold growing everywhere. Another restoration company had to be called in to do the job right. I will be filing a lawsuit against Paul Davis if the insurance company doesn't cover damages caused by mold, damages that wouldn't be there had the flooding been handled by professionals. A hygienist had to be called in to certify the house was habitable. The hygienist himself stated it was gross negligence on the part of Paul Davis Restoration. I feel for anyone who unknowingly uses this company. Insurance companies should be held liable for recommending these yahoos. I would have been better off having baboons use a shop vac than to use Paul Davis Restoration. I pity anyone using this so called restoration company. There should be laws against companies like this and what they *pretend * to be.
Very poor roof job/ incomplete restoration / very poor customer service
Paul Davis Restoration of Mason, MI was one of 3 restoration companies mentioned to me by my insurance adjuster, after a wildfire burned part of my house. Not knowing any of the companies, I chose Paul Davis. The work was very poor from the beginning, and I had to personally call a building inspector to stop the non-licensed PDR worker from proceeding. They nailed short pieces of wood, that were charred from burning, to make the joists over my garage. When I complained, the worker said they had to repair it so there was "no sign of fire." PDR plan was to paint over the charred wood so it couldn't be seen easily. There were too many incidents of poor workmanship to mention here. I found out later that PDR hired 14 year old boys to do some of the roofing work. PDR never got a final building inspection of their work. I've had to file 3 insurance claims for roof leakage since PDR worked here. The first roof leak happened less than 2 years after I signed off on the PDR work, assuming that it had passed a building inspection. PDR sent out the same unlicensed workman who did the original poor job, and he didn't know enough about roofing to see any problems. My last insurance adjuster wrote to the owner of the Mason, MI franchise, Jeff Nye, and told him how bad the workmanship is and suggested that PDR correct their mistakes, and 'make it right'. I've received no response from PDR. PDR did not reply to the Township building Inspector's office, requesting a final building inspection. I would never have this company do any work on my house. They did very very poor work, didn't have it inspected, and fail to address the damage they did to my home by putting up such a poorly constructed roof.
Insurance Claim
Paul Davis Restoration rebuilt our home after a house fire. They repeatedly lied to us about items they couldn't put in our home, about plumbing and flooring. We did a punch list four times, and none of the items were done on it. The paint job was atrocious. They supposedly came back to fix it, but it looked even worse each time. They would put dents in the wall, had places where they didn't paint back over the repair. The railing was ripped off by another contractor, and it was just shoved back in place and painted over, with paint on the railing, and horrible looking. The railing was stained, and has bumps that needed to be sanded out, which was not done after numerous complaints. We have paint drips all over the walls, and an interior door that has chunks missing in it. It was to be replaced, but of course, never was. To top it off, the door handle on our front door fell off two months after we moved in. The bathrooms on both floors have trim around the tub coming off, and the plumbing fixtures were picked out were not the ones installed. The towel rack in the downstairs bathroom is hung up crooked. They cleaned our fireplace, which caused chunks or mortar to fall out, which they did not replace. We have gaping holes in the mortar now. We have paint bleed of the stain onto the paint on numerous walls, and glue coming up from the laminate flooring in the downstairs bathroom. All these items were pointed out on punch lists, and never taken care of. To top it off, they charged us an extra $2000 for paint, and I could have done a much better job of painting myself. I thought they were professionals, but they hurried as much as they could to get their money. We have paint on our laminate floors, paint spots on stained doors, trim, etc. that was never cleaned up. They left trash, metal, doors, and other trash in our yard and our family room. I would never recommend them to anyone. Also, I had two of their subcontractors inform me that they were planning to file a mechanic's lien on my property for nonpayment from the company.
This company preys on the victims of disaster!
Brent Orr is the man who runs this branch of the company.
He will fool you and sell you a service that he says only their company will do.
To do the demolition portion he sent over one man to do the job after weeks and weeks of not returning our phone calls. He had his workers clean our belonging with Dawn Dish Soap and Chemical Sponges.
He threw out belongings of ours that our insurance did not cover to be replaced, with out consulting us.
He then charges THOUSANDS of dollars. Even after he had broken a window, our toilet (Because his workers were standing on it to tear our our ceilings, ) clogged our plumbing(because he doesn't have them mask off your drains, sinks, bathtub and lets insulation get into the drain, ) and ignored us for weeks on end. He opened up a POD account with us which is against their policy of no third party sales, and although we paid him for it, he didn't pay POD. He ripped us off. Told us he would do the jobs that needed to be done; duct cleaning, antimicrobial, mold prevention and never did any of those.
Not honoring warranty
Paul Davis Restoration refused to honor a warranty after repeated efforts to work with the company. In April 2013, PDR completed a roof repair and warrantied the roof until July 2014. In Feb 2014, I noticed water markings on the ceiling indicating a roof leak in the new roof and called PDR in April to investigate the leak. The technicians were able to find and repair one leak and did some sloppy painting of the ceiling which they promised to come back and fix at a later time but never did. After repeated attempts the technicians were unable to find the source of the second larger roof leak. The technician and Mr. Michael Mumford of PDR both indicated to me that it is quite possible that the roof had leaked early on but the heat of the sun has since settled any issues that there may have been. Mr. Mumford indicated that perhaps the best he could do would be to repair the damaged ceiling since they could not find the source of the leak. On June 16, after several attempts to contact Mr. Mumford, I finally reached him to try to schedule the ceiling painting/repair. He then informed me that he would not be honoring his warranty to repair the ceiling. When I told him that his own technicians indicated that there was in fact a roof leak and that he himself had indicated that he would fix the ceiling, Mr. Mumford's response was "I gave you a roof that didn't leak." This contradicted what he himself and his best technicians had said. I believe that Mr. Mumford is just tired of dealing with me as a customer and doesn't want to be bothered any longer. It is inappropriate for a company not to honor a warranty for work and highly unprofessional of PDR to act in this manner. They should be at the very least made to repair the ceilings where the leaks occurred.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
PDR was hired by my home insurance company due to a vehicle driving through my living room, specifically taking down my front deck, front wall, door, and my living room floor. My home is built with cinder blocks; the mason has come out 6 times and has yet restored the blocks correctly. meaning the front of the house does not look restored as in the name Paul Davis Restoration, it looks like a major repair job that was note done very well. Michael Mumford said "they know their job"; if this was the case why did the mason have to come out 6 times. Also is it professional to actually curse your customers out when you disagree on how the workmanship is being done? With PDR this is the industry standard, arguing and cursing the client. People please have your cell phones on record like I did.
So home owners if you were to resell your home, don't call PDR because your home will not look restored and you will not be able to refinance or sell the home. Heres irony the company name is Paul Davis Restoration; yet they don't restore the home.

Replaced roof with a cheaper wood
