I can't believe it!
I can't believe it! Mortenson Family Dental sent my bill, which was less than 30 days old, to a collection agency. The office staff at the Simpsonville Location were so rude and completely incompetent. I've had Mortenson insurance for over 5 years, but I definitely won't be sticking with them anymore.
Personally, my experience at Mortenson Family Dental has been pretty good
Personally, my experience at Mortenson Family Dental has been pretty good. Even though I missed a couple of appointments, they were really understanding. Dr. *** is a fantastic dentist that I would recommend to anyone. Thanks for being patient with me haha. I left with an even bigger smile!
I ain't never written a review on ComplaintsBoard.com before but I gotta say somethin' 'bout this Mortenson Family Dental place
I ain't never written a review on ComplaintsBoard.com before but I gotta say somethin' 'bout this Mortenson Family Dental place. I don't wanna see nobody else go through what I did. Now, let me tell ya, it ain't got nothin' to do with the location I went to. Them folks there were real nice, carin', and good with patients. But this lady named Keri Matthews, she's the HR Business Partner, let me tell ya, she was downright offensive to folks with disabilities. I never felt so disrespected and offended in my whole dang life, especially in a professional settin'. I hope nobody else has to go through what I did. I'm just a concerned person who hopes that havin' a disability or a history of one don't mean ya gotta be disrespected, talked down to, or made to feel like ya lyin' 'bout your medical situation.
I would not give them any stars if I could
I would not give them any stars if I could. I switched to Mortenson from a local family practice when I moved to the area. Every time I went there, even for a filling, they always told me I needed more expensive treatments that my insurance didn't cover. Dr. Emily *** told me about the $3,500 I had to pay out of pocket, which I agreed to. But then I received another bill for almost $3k more. They didn't tell me about this and I don't agree with it. I did notice that they have a lot of employees and offices every time I went there. It seems like they charge as much as possible to cover their expenses. They won't surprise me with any more high bills. I'll happily go back to my old local family practice.
Elizabethtown, Ky
Elizabethtown, Ky. Dixie Highway location, I recently visited Mortenson Family Dental and had a bit of a problem. You see, I got a new crown and now my bite feels off because the crown is too big. I tried to see the dentist without an appointment, but the lady at the front desk wouldn't let me. The dentist herself had told me to come back in a few days if my bite didn't improve, and that I could just walk in because of my work schedule. But when I went back, they didn't believe me and denied me the appointment. It's frustrating because they charged me over 1500 dollars for just one tooth, so you'd think they would treat me better. Now I have to find another dental office to fix the problem with my bite caused by the new crown. I used to like the dentist there, but now I'm not so sure about getting another crown done there.
I went to Mortenson's Dental Shepherdsville on 1/25/22 at 2pm for cavities I needed taken care of
I went to Mortenson's Dental Shepherdsville on 1/25/22 at 2pm for cavities I needed taken care of. The doctor, Tatyana, came in and told me that the pressure and pain I'm feeling in my teeth is from sinus issues. I told her it was the other way around. My teeth start to hurt first, and then I have sinus headaches and infection set up. She tried to say that on the X-rays it didn't show I had an infection. I told her I didn't care what the screen said, that I could taste the infection. After pleading my case and begging for help, she proceeded to tell me that since there was throbbing in my back molar, I would need to see a root canal specialist first. I grabbed my stuff and walked out. (FYI... There is nothing wrong with the root of the tooth, but there is a cavity). How is a doctor/dentist going to deny a civilian with obvious pain issues HELP? Do they not take an OATH to help us in the best way possible?
I gotta say, Mortenson Family Dental is a real letdown
I gotta say, Mortenson Family Dental is a real letdown. I was in the hospital, dealing with some messed up teeth, and when I called them for a follow-up, they didn't even bother to respond. Talk about rude! They just referred me somewhere else to get my dentures adjusted. And let me tell you, nothing beats the feeling of being given the wrong dentures the day before getting all my teeth pulled. Can you believe it? I had to wear someone else's dentures in my mouth! The surgeon they sent me to even asked if I got them off Craigslist. Can you imagine? It's a real bummer that I still have to wear these dentures (well, just the upper one because the lower one couldn't even fit after it got yanked out the first time, just four days after getting all my teeth pulled). I have to wear them every single day until I can make a four-hour round trip to the Oral Surgeon who will finally adjust them. If you happen to be in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, do yourself a favor and steer clear of Mortenson Family Dentistry. I tried to talk to an office manager about all this, but guess what? They don't even have one. Can you believe that?
I had to wait for weeks to get an appointment, which I guess is understandable because of covid
I had to wait for weeks to get an appointment, which I guess is understandable because of covid. I made an appointment for my yearly checkup and X-rays. I thought I had cracked a tooth at the back and wanted it to be checked. Plus, two of the teeth on my partial from Mortensen came off. Finally, the day of my appointment arrived. They told me I had to make a payment. I told them that my insurance covers the checkup and X-rays. The lady at the front desk insisted that I needed a periodontal cleaning instead of a regular one. I suggested we just do the X-rays today and reschedule the cleaning. She said she had to consult someone first. When she returned, she informed me that I needed a more intense periodontal cleaning because I hadn't been there in a while. It made no sense to me. No one had even looked inside my mouth, so how could they know what I needed? Frustrated, I decided to cancel everything. I don't understand why they couldn't just do the checkup and X-rays that I had scheduled. I've been a patient for years, but I won't be anymore. Oh, and by the way, my partial is still broken because I didn't even get a chance to ask about it.
I was a new customer and they recommended a crown
I was a new customer and they recommended a crown. But when they did it, the cap fell off the next day. They put the crown back on and re-injected the same spot, but it got infected. They had to see me multiple times to drain the pus and give me antibiotics. A year later, they replaced my old veneers that lasted 14 years from my previous dentist. Now, three of them have fallen off and they have unsuccessfully reglued each one two to three times per tooth. Recently, they let a dental assistant grind on them because they thought they were too long. She ground down the lip so badly that all the veneers fell off as I was leaving the office! I have pictures of each time they fell out. They offered me a refund for my teeth and told me they couldn't be my dentist anymore. Now I have three missing front teeth. When I went to another dentist for a quote on new dental work, he said it would require cutting my gum line and grinding the upper root to fix their mistakes. He estimated it would cost 40-60k, and I may need braces to correct my bite since their teeth were so large that they messed up my left jaw. Can I please post pictures?
In May , I agreed to get some dental services from Mortenson Family Dental and paid $632 to cover my expenses
In May , I agreed to get some dental services from Mortenson Family Dental and paid $632 to cover my expenses. But then in November , I saw a negative mark on my credit for another bill of $322 from them, for the same service they said they provided in July . They didn't give me any information about this issue, even though they said they would in person (we would have talked about it then). So now, 18 months later, I have a bill in collections.
I decided to take matters into my own hands and called my dental insurance provider to find out why they didn't cover it. They told me that they had given the necessary information to Mortenson, but Mortenson didn't mention that the insurance needed to approve the remaining balance. In July, the insurance provider asked for more information because they didn't have enough to decide what they would cover. (It's written at the bottom of the statement, but Mortenson didn't mention that they didn't have full approval before doing the work). Finally, in January , the insurance received the additional information and denied the claim.
It seems like Mortenson probably knew that this cost wouldn't be covered based on their experience, but they didn't tell me or try to communicate with me in any way, except to send me to collections.
We got sent to Mortensen's by Kids Dentistree for a root canal
We got sent to Mortensen's by Kids Dentistree for a root canal. The root canal took 5 hours, and they gave us antibiotics but didn't tell us. A few days later, the pharmacy called about a prescription. They said it would cost over $300 after insurance, but then we got a credit of $185 once insurance paid. We needed another root canal, but they said we used up all our benefits for the year, so it would be almost $1000 out of pocket. The temporary crown fell out the next day, and they didn't want to fix it until we paid the full balance. I asked for a payment plan, but they said no. Eventually, they agreed to fix it, but it fell off again within a week. I had another dentist fix it because they wouldn't schedule an appointment. Weeks later, they called and offered a payment plan and to put in the permanent crown. While putting in the permanent crown, they chipped another tooth. The tooth needed a filling, but it didn't have any chips before the crown. I told them my concerns, but they didn't seem to care much. When I asked about a cleaning, they didn't know what I wanted and suggested going to another dentist. I'm happy to go to another dentist now after this experience. I recommend finding a dentist that's not run by a big company. They clearly don't value patients or prioritize their well-being.
I had a really bad experience with Mortenson Family Dental in East Louisville
I had a really bad experience with Mortenson Family Dental in East Louisville. I told other dentists about it and they said Mortenson often messes up. They care more about money than good service. They fill cavities that don't need it and their treatment plans leave out important details. They told me I had a small cavity in the front that needed filling, but my friend said it didn't need such a big treatment. The dental assistant didn't follow the natural shape of my teeth and bonded them together instead of separating them properly. A few years later, the filling fell out and they didn't shape the tooth right. When I complained, the doctor said they did a good job (not true!) and charged me almost $400 to fix their mistake. They said the gap added character to my smile. I went back to find someone better in [protected]. They took out a lot of my teeth as part of the plan, but never told me about bone loss. When I asked for bridges, the dentist made a rude comment about money. Then, when I got the bridges, he said there might be complications without explaining more. They should've talked about this before or when I asked for bridges. Now, I have to pay over $30,000 for dental work because of Mortenson's neglect. I really don't recommend trusting them with your dental needs.

Me and my wife got our teeth fixed at Mortenson Family Dental
Me and my wife got our teeth fixed at Mortenson Family Dental. We got insurance, but we still had to cough up more than $8000 from our own pockets. We were supposed to get a refund, but for some reason, it's been 8 whole weeks and we're still getting the runaround. We've been trying to find out when we'll actually get our money back, but no one seems to have an answer. We even reached out to the district manager, who promised us a refund either through our card or a good ol' check. But guess what? We didn't get either of those things.
September 20, 2022, I was charged a prepayment of $3800.00
September 20, 2022, I was charged a prepayment of $3800.00. I had already prepaid $1430 and my dental insurance, ***, had also prepaid for future services. However, I recently switched insurance companies to ***l of *** on September 1, 2022. I notified the office on the day of the services, which was September 20, 2022. Unfortunately, they did not provide any explanation of the services. Additionally, they lied about the distribution of my $1430 prepayment. They told me that my bill without insurance was $3000, but they actually billed me $3800.00. Furthermore, they have not filed a claim with my new dental plan yet, even though I provided them with the necessary information on the same day, September 20.
I've been to the dentist at *** Mortenson a few times
I've been to the dentist at *** Mortenson a few times. My insurance has been billed for a whopping 10K in bills, and I've already paid over 1K out of my own pocket. They were supposed to put in and fit my dental implants, which were already paid for, but they won't make an appointment for it. On top of that, I have several cavities that need to be filled. All of this is because I missed two appointments without giving a 24-hour notice. I've called them countless times, practically begging for appointments because my teeth are getting worse. Every time, they promise to call me back, but nobody ever does. This not only affects my oral health, but it also seems like they're committing insurance fraud and taking my money. I just want the services I paid for to be completed as soon as possible.

The dental place done turned us over to collections for $457 dollars, even though insurance done paid 'em, and even though they done filed
The dental place done turned us over to collections for $457 dollars, even though insurance done paid 'em, and even though they done filed claims with insurance twice for the same stuff. They ain't been able to give us a right statement of what they done did, and they can't explain what the billings is for. They say they ain't been paid by insurance for somethin' from over two years ago, but they only billed for it this year, and even after we told 'em they filed it under the wrong insured name and got paid, they still say they need payment. It's like talkin' to a wall tryin' to get answers from their "manager" who can't explain the billin' or give us a right statement of charges. We gonna report 'em to the Kentucky Department of Insurance for filin' two claims for the same stuff, 'cause that's just plain fraud.
I went to this dentist for my regular cleaning on 10/14
I went to this dentist for my regular cleaning on 10/14. After that, I kept getting random charges for the appointment. They fixed it at the office and my account was cleared. My next appointment (another regular cleaning) was on 4/19 and I had problems again. They said they couldn't bill my insurance for the services provided. I called multiple times and they said they would take care of it and I wouldn't owe any money. Almost a year later, I still receive emails and bills asking for the $177.00 I owe. My insurance covers cleaning completely and I have never paid for a cleaning before. I called my insurance and they told me that the office billed them incorrectly. I called Mortenson again and they said they would fix it. Out of fear of being sent to collections, I finally paid the bill today. I want my money back. I have called Mortenson multiple times in the past few weeks and now they won't even return my calls. They just keep sending me bills. I don't know what else to do. Hopefully you can help me.
Mortenson Family Dental Center in Independence, Kentucky sent me a bill for services I received on 8/17/2022
Mortenson Family Dental Center in Independence, Kentucky sent me a bill for services I received on 8/17/2022. The bill includes charges for x-rays and fillings that exceed the agreed-upon limits negotiated by my insurance provider. Mortenson is calculating their retail prices and subtracting the insurance payment of $285.40, minus the $44.80 deductible that I already paid. According to the Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from my insurance provider, Mortenson has been paid, and my "Patient Responsibility" is $89.60. This is a legally binding agreement that Mortenson is disregarding.
I received the first bill on 9-20-22 (statement date 9-15-22) and called Mortenson on 9-22-22 to discuss the issue. I spoke with someone named *** who said she would forward the matter to the billing manager, but I never received a call back. Another bill arrived on 10-11-22 (statement date 10-8-22) for the same amount of $586.80. I called Mortenson again and spoke with *** who said she would pass it along to ***, but there was no follow-up. On 10-24-22, I spoke with *** and got the same result.
Feeling frustrated, I called *** to confirm the claim, the correct amounts, and the payment details. They confirmed that I owe $89.60. A *** agent named *** called Mortenson and spoke to ***, but she only told my agent that she would pass on the information. I need help!
I agree that I owe $89.60, and I have requested that Mortenson suspend billing until this issue is resolved. Otherwise, I fear that the next incorrect bill will threaten collections.
