my auto loan [protected] jeep wrangler
I went to the Leesburg Branch, after receiving a notice with late charges in the amount of $1494.74 . Brought with me all my branch receipts, where as I brought in all my payments in and a copy of my note.
My last payment is next month minus these late charges. As the receipts indicate I am not and have not been late.
I just received a brief phone message from Luke Coates saying he cannot help me.
Very perplexed, prior to next steps, I am reaching out for assistance to correct this error.

unprofessional bank teller
M & T bank teller at Big Elk Mall, Elkton, MD ACME branch not able to verify $20 bll if it was real or a counterfeit.
On this past Saturday my manager Went to deposit money into our business account . There was an oily $20 bill which was rejected by the bank's money counting machine, but the bill was not counterfeit. Teller kept the bill & said it's fake & he has to send it to secret services. After assuring & arguing with him that the bill is real because it was accepted by our store ( business) safe which is highly designed not to accept any counterfeit, he still kept the bill to have a second opinion or to get checked by his co worker on Monday .
So on Monday his coworker in less than a second just by looking @ the $20 bill verified that it's real not counterfeit.
This unprofessional, untrained & very rude teller didn't even apologized for his actions & trouble he caused to my store manager & myself.
Just don't understand how he can be an employed at a bank and not trained how to verify or tell the difference between real & counterfeits without relying on cash counting machine .

BEWARE OF M & T BANK and M & T CORPORATION
My mother, Eileen Raymond is 94 years old. She has had accounts with this bank since 1954 when it was Provident Savings Bank.
In February 2018, she noticed that she had not received a 1099 needed for the IRS and taxes. She called the bank. They refused to provide any information, because they said she had been using a different address for 13 months. She visited her branch at Wilkens Plaza. She spent nearly 3 hours with them, as she had to call Social Security, Baltimore Gas and Electric and others.
My mother had over $200, 000 in this account. Apparently an employee noticed my mother's age, and her lack of due diligence with this account. This was clearly an attempt by a M & T Bank employee to commit fraud.
We called the police. The bank gave no explanation how this happened or who was responsible. We made a complaint to their corporate office in Buffalo.
We demanded an investigation. The bank in turn demanded a formal letter from us. When we inquired why, they said they needed a letter to pursue a security matter. I said, "Wouldn't the bank want to investigate their own lack of security?" Naturally, they could not give me an answer.
They have caused my elderly mother 3 months of grief with no end in sight. My mother has not even received a formal apology from anyone.
PLEASE DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS BANK. They did just make a mistake. They are successfully covering up the theft and fraud by M & T.
I invite anyone to contact me for additional information.
m&t enables identity theft
In mid-December 2017, someone phoned M&T Bank claiming to be me, and consequently M&T changed the home address on all 3 of my M&T bank accounts to an out-of-state address. Belatedly, approximately 4 weeks later, someone from M&T phoned me to verify the address change. Someone could have already written phony checks against my account, but fortunately this didn't happen. Most likely, they could not present a proper ID to cash such checks. Experian registered the address change, and told me the source was M&T Bank. My M&T account numbers had all been compromised. I had to change the three checking and savings accounts, plus get a new credit card and debit card, all five with new numbers, all while trying to pay bills. This was all very time consuming.
As was widely reported, Equifax compromised the social security numbers of millions of Americans last summer - I was affected by this. Since everyone was aware of the compromised social security numbers, M & T should never have registered an address change for me over the phone, especially when the phone call did not originate from my home phone or even from my home state of Maryland. Inexcusable!
Finally, I seldom write checks or otherwise give out my account numbers. Therefore, I have reason to believe that M & T voluntarily disclosed all of my account numbers to the would-be identity thief.
mortgage
September 2013 M&T purchased my loan the principal balance was$230, 581, however, the principle bal was changed by them to $236, 019. After numerous certified mail from me to the CEO of the company and to customer service, a response was sent to me stating some of the additional charges to my principal balance were fees they added: a certified mail fee, fees for a title search, foreclosure attorney fees, a publication cost and past interest of $3659. I was never in foreclosure the loan was always current.in March 2016 I contacted M & T and was told my account was past due. I never recalled missing a payment. I paid my bank to furnish banking statement going back to September 2011 forward all payments to M&T were made. They did not get my loan until 2013. I could not get anywhere I paid two months to M&T in order for them to consider the account current. There was never a previous balance showing on any statement I received from them. I requested an itemization of the account they said I would need to send $20.00 for that to be done. I mailed them $20 and received a document that was not legible. November 3, 217 I received a call from them. I called today 11-6-17 to see what the call was about. I was told I did not make my October payment. I told them I paid on 10-4-17 the lady then said she sees the payment and they called on 11-3-17 because they did not have my November 2017 payment. I have reported to Consumer Protection, to Freddie Mac and still no resolution.
customer service call center
"Raquel" was the worst customer service person i have ever spoke to over the phone of any financial institution ever. The final straw was a hostile "supervisor" who evaded and/or stalled on all questions and inquiries and finally would not communicate her ID information clearly, and also started jamming the phone connection with static noises or muffled heavy spanish accent/speaking technique. Numbers and letters were not enunciated clearly at a critical point in communicating information. Very hostile, the worst phone customer service i have ever experienced anywhere except for a Verizon call center in the Phillippines during their union strike last year. But this was in southern california albeit the call center works for a New York regional bank. yukk!
watching out for our seniors
Hudson Valley Savings was bought out by M & T and since then they have reduced my interest payments to practically Zero. They did this without notifying me so I pulled my money out of their bank all except $5, 000. Now this month they charged me $24.95 service fee.
M & T is not a friendly bank to this senior Citizen and many others at all. I recommend everyone checked their money and interest before M & T finds another way to take your heard earned money from you.
I pray they go out of business.
checking account and mortgage account.
I have been locked out of my account, and when I called customer service they could not offer any assistance at all. I went to branch and they took the block off - but the online service still refuses to help. The new terms and conditions have not been explained to me, and I'm scared they will do something to compromise my security.
Hello; I just deposited a check into my checking account for $2, 750 and the ATM machine I used said on the screen that my deposit was for $22, 750. The machine I used is at 5910 York Road in Baltimore, MD and when I was asked if I wanted a receipt, I asked for one with an image of the check on it for my records. Please call me at [protected] or email me at edBalt64@yahoo.com. My checking account is [protected]. Thank you for taking the time to read this complaint.

forced insurance proceeds
M&T will place forced insurance on a homeowner's property if a property owner cannot show proof of insurance. The insurance policy runs to M&T (and names the homeowner as an additional insured). Once a property claim is filed, and in the event that the mortgage is delinquent (which is almost always the case with forced insurance), the insurer (in this case, a company named Assurant) issues a check naming both the property owner and M&T. M&T thereafter sends a set of instructions on how to get paid for the claim, which begins when the homeowner signs the check and then sends it to M&T...M&T, upon receiving this check in my case, proceeded to tell me that they could retain the funds and not pay the claim because the property was in foreclosure. In this case, M&T is acting as a "debt collector" under the FDCPA and not disclosing this to the homeowner; furthermore, no where in their instructions on collecting your insurance funds do they tell you the instructions do not apply when you are in foreclosure, notwithstanding that you are being charged for the forced insurance and M&T certifies to many courts that you owe them for the forced insurance in foreclosure documentation. I would place a bet that M& T is doing this to many delinquent homeowners.
account access
M&T recent change in terms and agreement online form does not work for all customers - so we can't access our accounts. Whoever designed this defective web agreement should be called out on it. Call wait time is up to 20 minutes for help and 5 calls later, I still cannot access my account because no one can help...they will surely loose a large number of customers over this. It's just unacceptable for a bank to deny customers access to their account ...m&t is going downhill fast.

charged for flood insurance
Was notified by mtbank, that my home was in a flood zone. Filled out papers for a LOMA from Fema. Fema stated no flood insurance was required, since we were not included in the flood zone. Sent in paper work, after calling for 6 weeks, said they were working on it. called back said they did not receive the LOMA paper. I faxed it the following day. Two days later received letter stating we were not to have flood insurance. Letter dated Oct 25 2012. In the beginning of Nov 2012 received an Annual Escrow account disclosure, They charged us for flood insurance $464.00 for the year. I called they were to send out revised Statement. Never received one. Called today Dec.28 2012 to ask why we were still being charged for the flood insurance, After being on hold for 20 minutes the line went dead. No one returned my call, to tell me what was going on. Cannot get anyone to tell me what they are doing or why we are still being charged.

account fraud
I was made aware of a internet charge for 339.85 at vision.com in London, England a few months back. M&T bank did a good job of contacting us and providing new cards but have reached the conclusion that we authorized this transaction and will be billed in full including interest for this charge. I do not understand how this conclusion was made and how our bank information was gained. I didn't get a phone call or any information regarding the matter and received the notice 3 days after they had exracted the money back from our account including interest. So where is the protection and how is this my problem and how did they conclude that I authorized this on-line? We plan to withdrawl everything and all business will be suspended with this bank as of 8am tomorrow. Check M&T fraud scam protection and see if your protected. I will be paying close attention to this as I shop for my next bank.

M&T Bank
My car dealer talked me into getting a loan for the vehicle through M&T Bank. What a mistake. This company mailed me 2 booklets like it was 1984, so every month I have to remember to tear out the page, put it in an envelope, write a check, which means I had to order more checks, write that huge long account # on it [protected]-[protected] I mean you have to count the zeros 20x to make sure its right, and then put that in an envelope, order stamps, buy stamps, put a stamp on it, and hope it gets there in time. Most times it doesnt and they charge you a late payment fee, despite me pleading that I mailed it a week before the due day, ...they dont care. They love giving you late charges, you can sense that the customer service (not a joke, thats what they call their phone goons) reps are told never to give any credits for any reason...
Now I'm not an idiot. I realize back in 1980 people did this all the time and never thought twice about it. They also drove to libraries to look up questions, instead of typing them into google.
I have had 6 other car loans in the last 10 years that allow me to pay online. NO CHECKBOOK needed! not to mention EVERY SINGLE other bill I have for mortgage, utilities, credit cards, etc...
When I called them to ask if they provided this service their answer was "We may in the future" Well in 2011 they FINALLY added online banking! I filled out all their forms and questions and went to pay my car payment online. PHEW the torture was over! Or so I thought! NOPE! You have to have an M&T bank account to pay your loan! WHAT?! There isnt an M&T bank around for miles, and who the hell would put money in that bank! Do you have to drive there just to see your balance, and tie your horse up out front while you wait! NO THANKS!
Today in January 2012 I finally think they added online payment, not that they mailed or emailed (have they even heard of email) me any info on this, I found it on my own, ...so I tried to register but its saying I already have an online account! Well that email address I no longer have and its not recognizing any answers to my own security questions. Not to mention when you click on any links on the website like "Enroll in online banking" it takes you to a generic Net assistant, or page not found site...
Im so frustrated, all I can do is get my checkbook out, and go buy more stamps, maybe some day these people will go to the library and read a book on customer service, ...until then STAY FAR AWAY!
rip offf
M&T Bank charged me about eight overdraft fees unnecessarily by manipulating the payments to increase their profit margin. Small purchases that were made three to four days prior were not paid, and a big one is shown six days later was paid to reflect insufficient fund. M&T representative clearly dictates to me that the Bank has the discretion to pay the big amount before with no fault of their own. I am closing all my accounts with this bank and move to a Credit Union, and I would very much advise every other account holder to do the same.
M and T did this to me the last two months...Im paying them back and getting the heck out of there...they are absolute and total lying crooks!
lost payment checks
M&T Bank has consistantly lost my on-line-bill -pay check. They called me a liar that every paid. I had to prove that I actually paid that way by getting a confirmation number. Then they blamed on the postal service, only my husband works for the postal servince. It only takes 3 days to reach Maryland. I am the who keeps getting charged the late fee, only I didn't send out late. Where is it sitting for 3 weeks.
Can anyon help me keep from getting ripped off. They even have lost my credit card payment. I have had to send that certified, just to have a courier sign one signature for all the payments, and I couldn't prove who picked up. I was able to prove when It reached Maryland and how long it took the courier to pick it up, not whose desk it sat on before it was processed.

On 12/30/2009 I deposited a check for $10000 into my checking account. The check was from my Charles Schwab account and was written to me by Charles Schwab. Today I looked at my account and M&T had put a two day hold on the check. The checks I wrote for the end of the year bills caused M&T to draw $2500 from my overdraft protection.
They never notified me and because I had their $2500 for seven days I had to pay $12.30 for the privilege.
Since the check was said to be "same as cash" the bank should have had no holds placed on the transaction.
improper information
Irvylon Boltz passed information on to my family members that was not only untrue but also not hers to tell. She had help one son to get a loan at an other bank with a freind of hers, put her self as broker and they said he needed 23% down at the same time she was getting my 80 year old mother a home ecuity loan for my other son to build onto her home as it ended my son managed to gain all my mothers assets from may till January when she passes. my mother only dids it because she was told i was giving my other son 25, 000.00 for his house not true the underwritters at the other bank relized what was going on and redid his morgage at the right rate and i gave him only 3, 000.00 . i had no idea what was going on till after my mother passed .Ms boltz passed info that was incorrect and not hers to give she should lose her job!
sleazy customer service
I receive constant junk mail from this company (who must have "acquired" my personal information from another sleazy company). Finally I had enough and decided to try to stop it. I submitted three concurrent requests through their website to be removed from their mailing list and for my personal information not to be sold or traded.
Request 1: I was told that I needed to fill out some form on their website in order to be removed. Hilarious, because I'm not even an M&T customer (never have been!) I attempted to fill out this form and it would not let me submit without entering a valid account number. Wonderful..
Request 2: I submitted a second ticket, this time making it very clear that I could NOT fill out this form on their website. Again I was told to fill out the form on their website.
Request 3: I submitted a third ticket, again making it very clear that I had no way to fill out this form on their website without a valid account number. I told them again to remove me from their mailing and not to sell my personal information. This time I was told that they could "not remove me from their mailing list without my social security number and phone number". Furthermore I "could not submit this information online, because they do not have a secure form". So I would "need to call up customer service".. How convenient for them..
Request 4: I called up customer service, which put me through one of the worst automated systems I've experienced in a while. No options to do anything close to what I was looking to do (just "open up a new account" and "get account info" etc). I pressed 0 to get around the BS but it just said "invalid option". I finally was forced to select "open a new account". Of course this transferred me to somebody who "couldn't help me", and I was again transfered. Finally I got in touch with a bitter sounding lady, who took my address and name, and told me she would submit it. Of course I said "hey wait a minute, they said you needed my ss# and phone number". I asked her twice and she dodged my question, and just said that she would submit my request.
Overall, a sleazy company with sleazy customer service, playing stupid games with somebody who isn't even a customer, just to get removed from their stupid mailing list! AVOID... I can't imagine what it must be like to be an actual customer.
not secure
I can not agree more with the complaints of these IDIOTS !
I went in to start to get my "assets" secured from a relationship that was/ is failing ... I told them I needed my own personal account sent to a diffrent name and address, I showed the proof of the name change that was going back to madien from married I also confided in them the need for this to be discreet so that I would not have to worry about any harassment or reprecussions of the person that the relationship was with . . I thought I was protected, till they changed all account information including to the person that I was trying to get away from ! Holy Hannah, I now have a bigger mess and all I got was an OOPS, Going else where tuesday morning . DO NOT DO BUSINESS with this enept group of idiots
I truly hate M&T their banking fees are crazy. Their reps are even worse. I can't believe the NFL is backing them as a bank. You would think they would have more sense then that, however they don't. I can't understand why it would take a month later for a withdraw to be posted to my account. Also they never update your account with the correct balance. On top of that they will make it seem like you are crazy. A lady I work with told me she owed M&T $2000.00 in fees before closing out her account. I can't understand why and how these banks getaway with murder, but if they make a mistake you can't charge them fees.
