I was a member of PHCS health insurance.
I always paid my monthly payment till the end of my contract with the company. But on the other hand, that company didn’t pay for my visits. I’m receiving bills now, saying that the insurance rejected them. Visits that occurred while I was paying for the coverage.
And the insurance didn’t bother to inform me that they are not going to pay for my visits.
I intend to file a complaint to the Bureau of consumers protection if I don’t receive a return.

Purchased this Multi Plan PYO insurance plan Jan.1, 2023. Whenever I would try to use this insurance I was told it was a discount card for my meds. and doctors. When I would try to purchase my meds. I couldn't use it, where I got my meds., even called them and they gave them some numbers and when my pharmacy tried to run it thru, it was denied. I was denied on my medical bills, they denied them. Called them, they stated I didn't send them thru the right channels. I was told by the sales man I could call him any time and he would return my calls, didn't happen. I have called the main office to file a complaint and have been talked to nasty, and have been hung up on and have been told they would tell her that they would have her return my call but never happens. All I want back is the money I have paid in in, since I was never able to use this.

I found there to be too many limitations with Obama Care/Affordable Care Act(ACA). I could not find a plan were all of my doctors were part of.
I figured that 475 a month insurance would be better than the $50 a month ACA account. I spoke with Multiplan and they explained that they sell ACA and external plans. I asked for one that is a PPO and I could see any doctor that I want. Even if they are not in the plan I can send the bill to them and they will pay me back. They didn't explain all of the things it does not cover such as disease treatment, seeing a specialist of any kind. Even worse it limits how many times a year that they would pay for a visit. For me it was 4X a year and 2X a year for a walk in clinic. I started noticing something was wrong when I went to different doctors and they said that they don't take that insurance. I said I'd pay out of pocket and they would re-imburse me. The doctors recommended that I go to places in their plan. Next I needed a specialist and Multiplan said that they don't cover me for that. I asked what if I get a serious disease and they asked me what kind. I rattled off a few diseases and they said they don't cover any disease. I got so upset that they would sell people on this deal knowing that it could be harmful of kill someone because they cant pay for a disaster. I had to calm myself down. I started realizing I don't even have insurance if I was to get sick from yelling at them. I called the representative twice and he never called me back. If you call and ask for a manager they all claim to be a manager and say that my concern will be looked into. I know they don't care. I went back to ACA and found a $50 a month product that includes all of my hospitals and doctors. Stay away from this rip-off place.
Desired outcome: I want coverage including disease treatment if needed for the rest of the month. I am leaving Multiplan at the end of the month but I want protection of my health for the next 17 days remaining until my ACA insurance starts.
Retired from my school job so looked into affordable insurance to cover a maintenance medication.
I talked with James from Mulitiplan PPO. He told me my co pay would by $25-50, on average, and that my meds would be $3. He even asked what I was taking.
I received the email and they took my enrollment fee. When I looked into it, I had to do some phone calls and holding but found out the benefit is a $50 payment for each of three annual doctor visits, and if hospitalized, $100 per day for 30 days toward the hospital bill. Low and behold, James LIED.
I am calling my bank now, to put a stop payment toward the next bill, which is more than the amount of the benefit! Luckily, I found out from James that to cancel the policy, one has to put it in writing. Here is the address he gave me, which is found nowhere on the welcome!

Scam/Fraudulent practice health insurance
I enrolled in a health plan marketed by a company called Multiplan. The agent said I had 30 days to review and cancel. I got charged the first month premium ($510.85) and have tried to contact the company as well as the insurance provider (Strata) and I get disconnected or have no way to leave a message. Multiplan tell me they are not the insurance company. And Strata has hundreds of complaints and enforcement actions filed against them.
Desired outcome: Cancel my policy immediately and refund my money.

This is not health insurance; although the person I spoke with on the phone when looking for insurance was not clear about this. I went to the doctor three times for very basic health issues--i.e. medication change/check-ups, and none of it was covered by this plan--which I didn't find out until six months afterwards when I received a bill for $500 from my doctor. My health provider notified me that they are treating me as if I'm uninsured, since this plan is in fact not health insurance...again, something that was deliberately not told to me when I signed up for the plan over the phone.
I have since tried calling to cancel my plan multiple times, and am always told to leave a mesage rather than actually being able to speak to someone to cancel the plan. As far as I know I am not being called back. (Other reviews mention a similar issue, resulting in people being charged months' worth of "services" they no longer want.) I also have no idea where to find the "member portal" they reference on the phone. There is no link to it on my member ID card or on their website.
Desired outcome: I need my plan canceled before I am charged for the upcoming month so that I am not paying for 'coverage' I no longer want.
MultiPlan is a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) rented by the insurance company. MultiPlan is not an insurance plan.
If you had read your Benefit Plan Document you would have discovered what medical services were covered and which medical services were not.
in addition, If your employer self-insured then your employer is the insurance company. Your employer working with your insurance broker determine what medical services will be covered and what medical services will not be covered. All of that information is found in your Benefit Document that you may or may not have read.
Finally, if your employer self-insured your employer determined how much they would pay for the medical services you received. That amount would usually be some percentage of Medicare (say 150%). Once the employers Third-Party Administrator (TPA) the organization that actually pays the claims for your employee health plan, has paid what the employer specified the Plan has met its legal financial obligation and you are responsible for the rest.

The sales agent representing this company sold me false information about what kind of health insurance/discount program that I was signing up for. I am now out over 1,700 dollars because of this company. This needs to be stopped they sell it like it is a helpful program for older people to seek needed medical services that are not yet old enough for Medicare. I am hard to sell and they sold me, so something needs to be done against big corporations feeding off the elderly.
The agent and customer service representative said the doctor and lab I would be going to was in network and then after services rendered customer service said NO they are out of network and we won't pay anything towards these services. Lies with no accountability - just told to read the small print. Thanks a lot Multiplan.

If you apply for open enrollment for health insurance, do not give this company your information or your credit card. Do not sign up for health insurance over the phone. Talk to a health broker, go slowly and do lots research. This company is a scam. You think you're setting up for health insurance but really your signing up for a plan that works with a bunch of different real insurance companies but they don't really pay out most of the time and if they do it's an extremely small amount.
If you try to cancel your plan they're going to give you a lot of trouble over the phone. This is a scam and a fraud.

PHCS Reimbursement of cancelled plan
I cancelled my plan on June 14, 2022 after (1) month of coverage. I prepaid for (6) months. I have called the company numerous times in addition to following up with e-mails. The company has yet to provide the refund. Customer service is not answering phones. In addition, I cancelled the monthly discount plan at the same time, yet the company continues to charge me.
Desired outcome: Reimbursement of balance of plan (5) months and stop the recurring monthly charge for the discount plan.
PHCS - HMA service
A year ago this insurance (PHCS / HMA) assured me I would not be out-of-pocket with a screening mammogram ordered at Baptist Health. A confirmation they have us a month prior to have this test done when I called to confirm coverage. Yet, a year later we received a bill from our provider stating the test had not been covered by our insurance (PHCF - HMA) because of patient age at the time of the exam, information not given to us at all when authorizing the test a month prior to the scheduled test.
Upon speaking to an agent today, coincidentally, the same agent who took my call a year prior, he said he had rung Baptist Health, the day of the test..., and advised them they would not be covering the screening mammogram but my provider did not confirm, nor did the agent called me, the policy subscriber despite me specifically explaining I did not wished to be out of pocket as this test was only preventative.
This is a case where the fault lies on PHCS - HMA as their agent failed to provide correct, valuable and timely information which resulted in a considerable unwanted and unnecessary bill for us.
This company is also not providing a professional customer service overall with their agents working from home and many impatient and unprepared it seems.
Desired outcome: I would like to be reimbursed for the test they said was covered and then failed to advised it was not.
MultiPlan PHCS - "covered services"
On 3/30/22 I was admitted via emergency with Los Alamitos Med Ctr in Los Alalmitos, California. The admission office needed to verify my benefit coverage and was told that "I do not have emergency or inpatient coverage". Called member services and told me that I have 70-30 coverage and LAMC need to bill them to claims services. This went on for 2 days. LAMC requested for an LOA since they are not contract providers although PHCS has them in their provider directory. PHCS declined LAMC for LOA. On 4/1/22 I was ready for discharge and ended up paying my bill out of pocket. When I called PCHS to cancel my plan, I was offered a "reimbursement" by member services. However claims dept. said I do not have coverage and member services may have "misinformed" me about the 70-30 coverage or reimbursement. This could be a potential small claims court case...
On my enrollment, I was personally informed by the "senior benefits operator" that I have hospital coverage with no deductible. Signed up in feb 11, 2022 - made 2 monthly payments before this unfortunate emergency event happened.
It am disgusted by the level of fraud and misrepresentation this company is committing. Beware of the sweet deals or "cheap coverage" they sell. You are better off applying with reputable direct insurance companies.
Desired outcome: Member Services at Multi Plan PHCS kept mentioning Fee Schedule for reimbursement. I want to see an actual copy of this document and a concrete step-by-step instruction on how I can be reimbursed for my bills.
The Multiplan agents and the the company they represent are scammers. The agents tell you what you want to hear (not COOL) lie after lie until you give them your credit card. Then the story is oh we don't cover that, or that, or that, or that... Oh and by the way bring your own vials to the laboratory. Oh, no one told you that, you should have read the small print on your coverage policy that we provided.

They are a scam company. I was scheduled for surgery and the hospital called to tell me that I would need $27,000 before they would admit me because I was only covered for 20% . Called the account agent and he said that I was covered for up to 80% but not at that facility. I was supposed to have spinal surgery but had to cancel because I couldn’t afford the extra 27k upfront.They also told me that I could increase my premiums to cover my expenses at $[protected] per month. Multiplan Insurance = American Online Benefits Group
On February 25, I signed my son up for health insurance after practically being pressured into purchasing the contract. I felt like I was talki9ng to a used car salesman, he was being so insistent. I explained that my son has a couple preexisting conditions before he signed me up for the plan. Afterward, I had time to peruse the contract and saw that his preexisting conditions would not be covered, so I worked with Health Insurance Marketplace to get him onto a decent health insurance plan without all the extra frills. According to the contract, I should be able to cancel for a full refund ( $313.24). I called the customer service number [protected] on February 28 and was told that I needed to provide proof of his new insurance and my refund would arrive within 5 to 10 business days. I sent the email with the proof on the same day. After 5 business days, I called to check on the status of my refund and was told the lady who handled that was in a meeting and would call me back within the hour. The next day, after not receiving her call, I checked in again and was told the same thing. A few days later I called and supposedly the network was down nationally. Now, it has been 12 business days and I still have not been contacted or received my refund.

On 5/19/2020 i called Health market place seeking for a health insurance . I spoke with a male person by the name of Mat who stated he had a really good insurance without deductible and 0 copays. I asked him what kind of insurance is that because I never heard of it. Mat stated "is called the Multi Plan and is really cool". I hesitated and told him I will call him back, I called Mat back and asked what type of insurance it was and he said it was a PPO. I told him if to look and see if they had my doctor in their system and he said " yes". So, I asked him to call my doctor and ask them if they are contracted with Multiplan, he had me on the line with my husband for a while and he came to the phone. He said they were on the other line and they said they were. I stupidly trusted him and went ahead and enrolled with them. I called my doctor to set up an appointment and I told them I had a new insurance, I told them what it was and they said we are not contracted under them. I told them their name was in their system, the staff stated they were at some point but they are not anymore because they a re not a good insurance. So, I spent several days calling doctors from the list and asking if they took that insurance and I could not find anyone that took that insurance. I called back and asked them that I wanted to cancel because no one in Tucson AZ takes that insurance. A staff noted I was very upset and called several people on the phone and stated I found this doctor that takes this insurance. Which is my current doctor, I made an appointment over the phone and went to my appointment with the card. When they took my card the staff stated that the system kept saying it was an error and it was not active. I called the insurance and told a n agent that they doctor's office was saying that my insurance was not active and how come. He went in the system and he said he found the error and fixed so it was active now. I told him I have been paying since May and the appointment was in August for my insurance not to be active? That is not the only thing, I found a job in October and I called the Multiplan to cancel the insurance because I had insurance through work and they got really mad. Then a few months after I received some paperwork frim IBA with an explanation of the benefits and to my surprise they didn't cover anything leaving me with a $1, 000 bill. The bill I received it 10 months after the doctor's appointment and I didn't know anything. Then it says $0 of deductible was not met when I was told there was no deductible and no copays. This insurance is a scam and they are ripping people off! I am putting a complaint to the BBB and that is not all I called the number to contact IBA and it says is no ;longer the phone number. In the papers it says this is not a bill but it eventually became a bill.

The site keeps asking me to review the covid info, requires me to click OK, then when I begin to type, the message pops up again. And again. And again. When I am finally able to click the button "Change my Network", I get the box of choices and select Multiplan. Sometimes it changes it, sometimes it doesn't. Then I get the covid popup again. I have used google and edge, have cleared cache and cookies multiple times. Been trying to locate a doctor for 2 hours and am ready to throw my laptop out the window.
Desired outcome: Create a default plan in the account profile, or have the "Change Network" button actually work. Limit the covid popup to once, with an check box saying "do not show this to me again during this session".

12/14/18 They called me and gave me a sunshine session and a quote for medical insurance at a reasonable amount.
I asked about certain doctors, hospitals, and coverage. All said "Yes those people and coverage are on my list, so your covered."
When they asked for a verification VIA TEXT...I asked for what they quoted me to be in an email to me for verification. When I wouldn't verify VIA TEXT, the agent got another manager on the phone and asked "why won't you verify"...I told him "I want it in an email and to see the providers and coverage" He then went *BERSERK* on me and said that I was yelling at him and I wasn't then had the nerve to SCOLD ME that "I should have been looking at medical plans from November 1st NOT December 14th and I was the one who waited until the last moment to find a plan and that's my fault and go sign up on Obama Care LADY and see what you will pay" ... I told him "I don't want your service and I better not be charged any money on my credit card and FYI, I just found out I'm moving today, so this is why I'm shopping for insurance at the last minute, so go bully somebody else" and I hung up on him.
Called the representative that sold me the coverage and told him "I will not be treated this way by anyone when I was asking for an emailed document of services"...Then he went *BERSERK* when he found out I didn't verify VIA TEXT and told me that "I wasted his time and go sign up for Obama Care and see what you will pay"...I hung up on him. Sent the verification text a STOP - NOT AGREE TO VERIFY SERVICE - ... Will see if my credit card gets charged, but that I can cancel.
I think these salespeople are on commission. They think they can bully there way to make you sign without explaining anything by being vague.

There product is dangerously dishonest. I told the agent that I wanted a plan that will allow me to see any doctor and not be part of a network. He said all of the items that I wanted to hear. He did not explain the limitations that are terrible, dishonest and life threatening.

I just cancelled my policy today due to the health care practices I visited, as the website said were providers of this plan have never even heard of this of it. None of them agreed to take it as payment, or honor it, and when one of them decided to verify coverage, the customer service person they spoke to at Multiplan said their was no deductible, and no verification was needed, because the service was not covered. I paid the fees for this program for the last four months, while out of work, and struggling to get by. This program is a complete ripoff, and I am planning to move this issue to the BBB shortly, as I feel that the customer service staff that I spoke to at Multiplan were on the same page, and know this is not a health plan that can be used anywhere. Aggressive sales tactics are used, and you are made to believe that you have health coverage, when you actually have nothing but a few cards with large company names on them. You should see the faces on the staff at the Physicians offices when you hand them these cards...I want my money back for the months that I thought I had coverage...
