MyLife billing without my consent

I signed up for a month subscription because there was an ad that said someone was looking for me, but it was just a ploy to get me to pay $18.95. Then I read that it keeps charging accounts unless users go through the online process of changing it, which I did. Unfortunately, I don't keep a checkbook and found out they'd charged 5 months on my account before B of A emailed me informing me my card was being swiped without my consent and that's how I figured it out.

I signed up for a mylife.com account in feb 2011 using a paypal account for the first payment believing there were "people looking for me". I agreed to a $21.95 cent charge for that month but immediately selected to have my account not aut0-renew.

They never notified paypal to cancel the subscription service though they took away and canceled the "premium" service from my account so no service was rendered! Essentially, stealing money from me after I believed the account to be canceled.

When I finally caught on in September they only refunded me until April citing that "their system only went back 6 months."
Additionally they tried to argue that notifying paypal was my responsibility. That's like seting up an auto-pay with a bank account and routing number, then the vendor CANCELLING service but CONTINUING billing, saying that you have to contact the bank to stop payment on future electronic transfers... UTTER BS!

Mylife.com is a scam. Intentionally doing anything in their power to confuse and misdirect consumers into giving them (essentially) free money.

MyLife invalid information

I have a very unique first name coupled with my surname I am probably the only person in the country with the name. My complaint is that My Life.com has nothing but bogus information listed about me from my age, marital status and whom I am associated with. I am a professional with state certifications and licenses and the invalid information they have posted have cost me to lose clients. I have been unable to remove my name from their dubious site or even correct the information. If nothing else My Life should at least try to validate information and if they can't or receive complaints at least remove the person from their site oir change the information.

MyLife beware of what you open your life to - it shouldn't be mylife.com

Someone is tampering with my profile on mylife.com. If you look me up, you will find a photo that I did not put in there. It is a photo of a guy holding his arms and hands to look like he is shooting at the viewer. Before that, it was a guy kissing a baby's head. It took a 30 min call to clear that up. Seems someone's other profile was reflecting thru mine. They did not clear up someone else's access. Before that it was a photo of a black guy holding his hand in a peace sign at the viewer. I am not black and I am not a guy. My profile also had my places of residence, relatives and other information altered without my knowledge or consent. If someone can chronically get into my account, after repeated efforts to clear it up, no one is safe from the same thing. Beware of what you open your life to - it shouldn't be mylife.com.

MyLife unauthorized charges, don't answer phone

I authorized a charge of $9.95, and when I got into the site and realized it was a scam, tried to find a way to cancel the account (there's none). Saw my bank statement and they charged $119.40. Called to get them to reverse, no one answers the phone. I'm forced to file a complaint with my bank now. I have nothing from Mylife that states a dollar figure, just a "Welcome to Premium Membership" email. SCAM!

MyLife deceptive advertising

I signed up looking for family members -- when I processed my payment, I thought I had signed up for one month at $XX: my receipt showed over $100 for service. I was horrified. Called the company and complained -- they quickly refunded me, and charged for only the month I wanted. The point here is that until one completes the financial transaction, one has no idea what is being charged. ** With the one month's service, I sent out e-mails and waited for replys. Of course the parties that received the e-mails cannot see them without subscribing to the service, and I cannot see if they reply without subscribing to an additional service. The entire thing is a scam -- meant to squeeze as much money out of people seriously looking for others. Better use the various on-line white pages, and send a quick postcard to potential contacts. This type of business deception is disgusting.

MyLife.com may not be doing anything illegal but they sure are walking a thin line and they are certainly not ethical. They will send you an email saying someone is looking for you only to inform you, after you register, that no one is actually looking for you. What a funny joke to play on someone! Also, be careful when you do register of being told someone is looking for you but pressing you to buy a whole year of service in advance. Guess what! After you purchase a year, no one is there again. What pranksters! Makes me want to fly to California, where their office is located, and show them how funny I can be.

MyLife unauthorized dangerous exposure

Mylife.com is exposing unauthorized use of family members and friends names connected to me causing a very dangous situation to a few of our lifes. I've never been on the site and knew nothing about it until the danger came. Now we live in fear and don't have enough money for an attorney to fight against the exposure. How do you stop them and remove personal information?

I noticed the connection between a email alert that someone is searching for me to a payday loan scam.
I am being terrioized by the Indian accent men, who call and threaten to come to my home and arrest me if I do not give them a thousand dollars through western union.
I know they got my info through my life.

MyLife fraudulent charges

This company stole my credit card info, and I never visited their website. I have reported it to CITI bank and had to close my account. I plan on suing MYLife for fraudulent credit card usage and have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the Massachusetts District Attorney Office.
Do not visit this website, as subsequent searches on this complaint board have proven MYLife to be a total scam and you will most likely wind up with various fraudulent charges on any credit cards you own where that information has been illegally obtained by them.

Fraud, plain and simple. Charge you for there service without getting your card information from you, legally. Look for a $50 charge and know that you didn't order their service. No one uses them, so if you see "false" information on your life information, ignore it. [censored].

MyLife they made false claims

I saw a commercial of MyLife.com that said I could search who was searching me and said it was free in the commercial. I signed up then tried to see who "looked me up". The old bait and switch occurred... instead of "seeing who searched me for free", they directed me to a page that required me to pay $22/ month ($13/month if I signed up for 12 months). They are deceptive and companies built on deception probably have other problems too. The guy at the top is probably a ### and you probably can't expect much from MyLife.com. From listening to the complaints, there are unauthorized charges and virus like programs that grab people's entire address book and use it to spam others.

When you sign up you autmatically have a monthly renewal. Ok that's normal but when you try to give feedback or talk to someone there is not customer service center. you can get to frequently asked questions but that's it. and the searches are horrible. I have never been more disappointed than i was with this site. Don't ever sign up for it.

i received a message stating that someone was searching for me. i signed up for the service as i like to get back in touch with old friends when i can, and i was also signed up for SAVINGS ACE. needless to say, no one was searching for me, and was charged both for using this(every three months) and Savings Ace(monthly). in calling for refunds, so far i've had better luck with My Life than Savings Ace.

Alright. Judgement and such aside, are you saying that MyLife.com does not try to take more money than people intend to spend on it? and that they didn't try to be sneaky about it? Though not illegal, trickery is a dirty way to make money. People should not have to read all the way through an overly verbose agreement, just to know that they are going to be charged for WAY more than they thought they were.

If you try to deny that, then you are either bought off or your opinion on the company is biased. If you have any affiliation to the company, you should stay off complaint websites. It is just further evidence that they want to hide something.

As for respect, MyLife.com not only shows no respect to those that use it, but is directly insulting the people that happen to fall for it. Therefore, defending them puts you in the same bed.

Rafael26: I am referring to the TV ads, claiming a "free trial" of the services, which turns out to be a statement claiming X number of people are searching for you and if you want to see them you have to pay. As a male, it usually says females are looking for you, and from most accounts, those are usually GUYS looking for someone that happens to have the same name as you. If a person's name happens to be John Smith, then the people apparently searching for you could have been looking for one of hundreds of thousands of John Smiths.

As for customer care, Ive read many cases of people calling in for a refund, only to get hung up on when the word 'scam' is mentioned.

You need to realize that I did not and would NEVER fall for such an obvious scam. My goal is to keep as many people from falling for it as i can. You are a worthless promoter that earns his living by hurting other people.

I hope your bad deeds catch up to you in the form of a jail cell and an overly friendly room mate,

Rafael26: Though it might be totally legal, it uses loopholes and tricky wording to get people to give their card info so you can charge for more than you let them know. Most people don't read user agreements, and those that do (like me) would never fall for such a blatant scam such as this, even before reading it. Plus. all the info about overcharging was put more than halfway down an excessively wordy agreement. The only reason I found it was because its what i do and i knew where to look. I would be willing to bet nobody who was scammed never intended to pay for more than a trial, but ended up charged for a year.

Just because "MyLife is not a fraudulent company" doesn't mean they are not trying to take peoples money by very immoral means.

I assume from your position (and very careful wording) that you are either an employee, or being payed or benefited by MyLife, which makes your words untrustworthy and corrupt.

Go f*** yourself... (oh wait, MyLife is doing that already),

MyLife.com is a scam. The website is intentionally setup to make you think you're signing up for a memeberhsip at $7.95 per month and it's not until you've entered all your credit card info and click submit that you see they're going to charge you for an entire yr. upfront. It is very misleading and I would say fraudulent. You aren't allowed to speak to someone in the US more than likely they're in the Phillippines and if you ask for the number to the corporate office in Los Angeles, CA you're told that, that info can't be given to you and you have to submit a request to the CS Rep to have someone from corporate call you. It's pretty terrible and I've never experienced a co. do business this way. I'm having my bank dispute the charge because it is fraudulent. I called literally 1 min. After signing up and with the hold time it took all of 4 to 5 mins to get someone on the phone to ask for a refund. It didn't matter to them. Once they have your money they are going to keep it, so please be very careful. I would suggest to never do business with this co.

14156.

Don't be so quick to judge me, I'm only explaining the website and how billing works.

The websites offers two different subscriptions, a People Search and Quick Match, which is the dating portion of the website. Users are able to register on the site as a free member, you are able to see who is currently searching for you, with a brief description, Example: 32 year old female living in Los Angeles, Ca.

A subscription needs to be selected to obtain more information regarding details for those specific individuals.

I'm not stating yourself" fell for any misunderstanding regarding the website, since you keep informing me. Regardless of where you work, people should be treated with respect even when money comes into effect.

Your remarks towards me are offensive, BTW.

MyLife has no trial services, the subscription page states the total charge(s) issued on the card used.

MyLife has a non-refundable subscription yes, but if the website didn't seem to reach your needs, ask to modify your subscription to a lower term. Finding a solution together is the general approach. Most likely, a full refund is given.

MyLife.com formerly known as Reunion.com, is a people search website where you are able to obtain information for someone who you are currently looking to be reunited with. You join the website, select your membership, decide if a 1 month plan works for you, or even a 12 month plan depending on your need. All subscriptions are paid upfront for the full term. All memberships are set to automatically renew unless that feature is turned off before hand. You are able to do this by going to your settings under your My Account, and selecting the off feature or by calling Customer Care. The subscription allows you to conduct unlimited searches in order to obtain a telephone number or address. Public information is obtained thru a third party. If you conduct a search for someone be specific, include an age, a recent location, narrow down your search. If no information for a name is found, an account will generate, until that person who you are currently searching for creates an account. As a paid member, you are also able to conduct messages to reunite with another user. Remember, if you send a message to a name created profile, that other user will not be able to read or reply until a subscription is selected. There are also more features and benefits for being a paid member! MyLife is not a fraudulent company, don't blame the company for your lack of responsibility by not reading the terms and conditions. Affiliations with other companies are selected by you. Once a membership is selected, you will be directed to an affiliated partner, you choose to opt out on special offers, if you don't, you will subscribe to their services.

*Always read the fine print when signing up for a non-refundable subscription.

It does state that all memberships are billed for the full term.

MyLife no is looking for you!

Over two years ago, the popular website was sued for telling consumers that “former classmates are trying to contact you! Upgrade now to see their messages!”

Plaintiff Anthony Michaels bought the line and paid to upgrade from his free membership to a “Gold” one - the only way that he would be allowed to respond to whoever was waiting for him - he quickly discovered that, in fact, no one was waiting for him.

Michaels filed suit, accusing the site of making “false representations regarding the attempted contacts.” The action settled with Classmates to pay out $9.5 million.

MyLife username & passward

A year ago I wanted to find someone so I signed up on mylife. Well I found who I was looking for & then a few week's ago, a message in my inbox kept popping up that someone was searching for me. So I came back on & put in my username & password that I thought was used before. It wouldn't take any password I used. So I ask them to send me my forgotten password. I guess they couldn't find it, so they sent a new one to me. I tried using the new one & it still wouldn't work. I am so sick of the run around. Very pour site & CS. If I could login I would change my Usern. & passw. The person who was suppose to be searching for me was much younger then me, so I doubt if it was anyone that really knew me. If it was, he might have remembered me off a dating site, so I would care anyway. Yevonne

MyLife unauthorized release of personel information

I was alerted by a family member that MyLife.com had my personel information on their website. I googled myself and sure enough there it was. My name, age, and the
town I live in. I never went to MyLife.com for anything or any search site. This is what
really gets me, this website is soliciting to people that they will tell them everything about me. For a fee no doubt, they will release my address, marital status, it goes on and on.
I could barely breathe after I read it. How can this be. I am careful with releasing any
information on the internet. I feel violated. I wrote them and told them to delete the infor they released without permission. The website says it takes a week. We'll see. If anyone knows a way to get these people to stop, or the agency to formally complain to
I would be grateful. I urge people to google themselves, if you put your name in parentheses it narrows the search. Hope you don't fid what I did. victoria47

Mylife.com advertising is completely FALSE! They say "Find out WHO is searching you for FREE" There is nothing free about finding out who is searching your name. If you click the link to see that info, you get taken to a payment info page. You have to pay for that info. The online dating sites work the same way. They never show you who is searching for you for free. The word "free" gets thrown in there to make people curious. You will find out quickly, all those sites want is your money. They really should take those ads off TV or change the wording so it isn't a complete lie.

MyLife bait and switch

This company is using a blatant bait and switch to grab your money! ALL advertisements say that you can view who's searching for you for FREE, but when you get to the site it makes you sign up and pay a fee. What happens is that a screen pops up with your prospective searches and it is blurred out so you cannot distinguish who or what is there. This is just a static image and has nothing to do with anyone that "MAY" have searched for you. You cannot proceed until you've paid.
Amazingly enough once you've paid there probably won't be ANYTHING there, but hey they got your money.
This is very questionable business practices and one of the oldest scams in the book! SHAME! SHAME! SHAME! You have been warned!

I concur! I called MyLife after they billed my account for the so-called "free" trial and they refunded my money, no questions asked. I strongly urge anyone to call them at [protected] between the hours of 6am - 9pm Monday - Friday, Pacific Time; 6am - 6pm Saturday and Sunday, PT and request a refund, they will provide you with a confirmation number. Lesson learned: Nothing is ever FREE.

MyLife mispresentation

After receiving multiple emails on a daily basis from these guys, I gave in and signed up for 3-month 'trial membership' using PayPal. After attempting to log on their site later that day was told I was not a subscriber. Did some more investigation and believing it to be a scam, I sent an email using the link provided (which turned out to [protected]@reunion.com rather than MyLife) requesting refund, cancellation of further charges, removal of my name and personal information from their site and that I be deleted from there email list. It's been 2 weeks with no repay from them and am still getting emails daily. Went to PayPal and cancelled recurring charges for this company and filed a complaint to get refund of the 3-month trial membership fee, then went to their web site and deleted my profile with them. Not sure where they got my info but would guess with their affiliation with Reunion.com that it came from ClassMates. I'll be going to those to sites next to delete myself there. If you paid using PayPal you can check the list of recurring payments you've authorized and cancel any you don't want.
