they accuse you of everything possible, when you are just a innocent victim
About a month and a half ago My husband, myself and our three kids were out for a leisure drive on a Saturday night in our 1967 RS/SS big block convertible camaro. (we only drive it on weekends). We started to have car trouble, I immediatley told my husband to get out the road ( to which he did) about 30 seconds later a 72 year old man ran off the side of the road and hit our car. Now if any of you have classic cars you know they are your pride and joy (and you also know the time and money spent on them). I thought I was dreaming, I could not believe that this beautiful car(that our entire family loved) now looked like a mangled piece of junk. The right quarter panel was just rolled up metal. I do not have much space but to let you comsumers know if you have nationwide CANCEL IT. If you ever get hit by someone with nationwide ins. you better be prepared for the longest, most stressful event you have ever been through in your life. They do not want to pay off. They accuse you of everything possible, when you are just a innocent victim. It's not right and it's not fair and we all need to stand together and put a stop to these insurance companies. This case is still pending and we have not recieved a dime.
rip off!!
I have been a customer of nationwide for over 4 years, during this time I have had the same vehicle. I march of 2011 I got a new truck. When I called nationwide to change my insurance over, they gave me a good quote for 135 dollars per month. I was happy with that. One month later the bill for that month still had not come. I phoned Nationwide and asked the where my bill was. They told me that since I had just paid my insurance on my previous vehicle that I was not due till the next month. When the bill finally came, it was twice the amount they had quoted me of 135$. I called and asked them why, they stated to me that since there was 3 months left on my 6 month policy on my old vehicle, that I would have to finish paying that off first before my insurance would be 135$ per month like I was quoted. They are telling me I have to pay for 3 months of insurance on a vehicle I DO NOT OWN anymore, and also pay for full coverage on my new vehicle, for a total of 240 per month for the next 3 months! When I threatend to drop them, they told me if I did, I would be turned into collections. So I am left with no choice but to pay them the money or have my credit damaged.

I worked for an insurance company for years and I am always surprised at how uneducated consumers are. It sounds to me like you don't understand at all what actually happened as you state you are charged for a vehicle you deleted. Your insurance company replaced one vehicle with another one. You would have been prorated for the change based on the date that you made it. You noticed you didn't get a bill like you normally would and that should tip you off that something is wrong. If you still have a balance owed you should be getting a bill each month. In reality they are just taking your remaining balance and dividing over the remaining months to bill now that your changes went through. The estimate you were given wasn't your monthly payment amount it was how much you would pay if your total premium were divided over the whole 6/12 month term evenly. When you make a midterm change this is how it works.
home owners - roof and interior damage
Nationwide Insurance destroys Homeowner's Condo by cutting open the ceiling of 2 of her bedrooms and allowing roof water to leak into her unit for over 2 years, destroying her condo.

I have had nationwide insurance for 2 years (homeowners and auto). I filed my first claim at the end of June for significant storm (unexpected hurricane force winds in northern Virginia) damage to roof/chimney, Chimney was wood frame construction and actually torn out of roof leaving about a 3 x 3 foot hole. I went up on roof the next day in 100 degree weather and spent 4 hours to making temporary repairs to prevent further water damage. (This was 2 stories from deck and I'm 57, not 25). To make a long story short I heard back the day after filing the claim that and was told adjuster would contact me within a day. The adjuster contacted me the next day, but said he was very busy and couldn't get out for what was basically 19 more calender days. It turned out he was an independent adjuster (actually a nice guy and very thorough and said Nationwide had told him to tell customers would contact me in 10 to 14 days. Not being a nationwide employee he could not write me a partial check or provide me a list of contractors. Almost a month, nothing. My independent agent is worthless, I'll be dumping Nationwide once this claim is taken care of (if they actually ever get off their ###). My ex has been a licensed insurance agent for over 30 years and said she has never seen or heard of a case like this either. Avoid Nationwide...JMHO
rear ended by one of there driver's
I was out of state and rear ended by one of thier driver's and at first the Insurance Agent, Larry Czeponis, was really nice and taking care of everything, then it all changed after he had me sign a release form in a very scadalist way. In the drive way of my parents house he stated to me that Nationwide wanted to offer me $500 for any other inconveniences that I have incurred, I told him that I DID NOT want anything except for the gentleman that hit me to take responsibility, my vehicle to be fully repaired, and our medical bills to be covered. We then went into my parents home and I gave receipts that I had paid out of pocket expenses and as he was writing the check he stated "about the other thing (meaning the money he discussed with me in the driveway), I have just added to the check that I am writing you and I said well ok, then as he was handing me the check, he handed me a piece of paper and stated "in order to give you this check, I need you to sign this paper and I said ok. I said to him "what is this paper that I am signing" (as I am signing it) and he states to me that this is a paper that states you will not sue the person or his mother for hitting you. This was done while I was still out of state and unable to see any of my primary care physicians. I have now returned back home to find out that the gentleman that hit me has cause me to have 3 sprained muscles in my neck and costant (daily) headaches. My father, who was also in the vehicle has suffered a sprained neck and lots of visits to his doctor for lots of trips. I then had my husband call Mr. Larry Czponis and he acted as if he didn't have time and stated to my husband that due to me signing that paper (that he 1. Never explained and 2. Had me believing it was a receipt of the checks) that there is nothing further I can do. SO I GUESS I'M SCREWED! What a way to conduct business and explain whats going on when you have just been involved in a trematic auto accident. To top it off I have no information to report his employee practices...Anyone have any info?

theft/fraud/deceptive business practices
In the summer of last year (2010), I bought a policy from nationwide on my motorcycle.
I paid for a year up front and paid a higher rate in order to cover aftermarket parts.($6, 000 worth).
Two months into the policy, my bike was stolen.
Not only did nationwide refuse to honor the agreement ( telling me they would not pay out on aftermarket parts), but when they finally did pay out it was for $1, 000 less than I paid for the bike (two months ago!), and still to this day, I cannot get them to reimburse me for the remainder of the policy!( about a thousand dollars).
Whenever I call, to find out the status of my payout, I receive the runaround, transferred calls, being put on hold for ten and fifteen minutes only to find that I was transferred to the wrong number, and the person I am talking to can't help!
Finally, (the last straw for me!) they tell me that they sent a check to an old address!
not the most recent address on file,
not the address where they just sent a check sixty days earlier,
but to an old address that has not been used by me or them in more than six monthI am out of patience, I am out of understanding.
Now I just want to spread the word that nationwide is not on your side.
they are out to get your money and keep it.
Don't let them get you. Cobtact a lawyer and sue them for breach of contract. This sounds llike it is open and shut. Do this and you will not be suing for $1000.00 but much more...and an attorney will do it on a contingency basis. If need be, offer the attoney more than the normal 1/3 basis...what have you got to lose.
Next google "nationwide Insurance Board of Directors"..get their names...google their names...read the report which will indicate where they live. Then go to www.whitepages.com and look up their phone numbers. Call them as many times as need be until they respond.
I have done this with them and actually talked to one of them at their business in North Carolina.
While I must admit that i did have to get an attorney for my case and am actually suing them I feel that if enough people start a calling campaign they might get the message ... or at least forced to change their number.
Go for it!
cancellation
I own three vehicals on one occasion one of my vehicles was car jacked in philly, so I called the insurence to let them know, soon after that the very same day they recoverd the car nothing wrong with it or no damages, so I left the claims department know there was nothing wrong with my car. Now remind you im at work and a friend of my fiance had a license so I figured that was fine... Wrong because a couple months later they send me a letter stating that it was going to be canceled and refusal of renewal stating that the guy who drove the car was unlicened, not to mention it they had him down as my fiance, very wrong. So my fiance went with the driver to the office to show them he had a licence and did not live with me... I never heard of a person who does not live with you and only drive your car one time, has to be on your policy to drive your car.

failed to honor claim
I have been a customer of Nationwide Ins for both home and vehicles for 19 years with only two minor claims. My roof received hail damage this past summer and when I realized the damage and made my claim they failed to honor it. They never sent an adjuster out, and after 21 day denied the claim saying that I did not make it within their 6 month period, even though by my own Nationwide agent agreed that I did make claim in timely manner. After making the original claim they gave me a constant runaround, now have a lawyer!
homeowners insurance
I purchased my homeowners Insurance thru nationwide this year..they were the cheapest, and they were not cheap..about 60 days later an agent showed up at my house to a visual exterior inspection, while he did'nt say he found anything wrong...I got a bill in the mail from Nationwide increasing my policy amount by $110.00, with a little notation from them stating I should pay by the end of the month...I have'nt paid that $110.00 yet, I did'nt authorize the increase, did'nt discuss anything with their agent/representative...just got a bill..so people beware of grinning Insurance agents at your door..if you did'nt invite them out...you will get a bill ...at least from Nationwide...I'll be moving my policy when it expires...

You do realize, cgs, that EVERY insurance company sends out inspectors to do visual surveys of the property and adjust the premium by what they find, right?
Right?
No? Welcome to adulthood.
unethical
Nationwide is on THEIR side …not yours
Where do I begin? On September 9th, 2010 my brand new Mercedes 350E with approximately 500 miles on it was hit by an insured of Nationwide Insurance Company. The details of the accident are that I was headed toward the city of Charlotte on South Blvd when the insured exited a shopping center parking lot striking my bumper on the passenger side of my vehicle. The police were called and a report was filed. The driver of the other vehicle stated to the police that he misjudged the distance exiting the parking lot and struck my vehicle.
Immediately after the accident I took my vehicle to a certified Mercedes body shop for an estimate of damage. It turned out that my car needed a replacement bumper; minor structure repair to an area behind the bumper; replacement of a muffler heat shield and some paint around the same area. A report was also given to Nationwide which paid the repairs with no problems. However, there were problems immediately afterwards!
In the state of North Carolina a party is permitted to collect for diminutive value of their vehicle if they had no liability in the accident which I did not. So after the repairs were made I took my vehicle to three different dealers advising them that I wanted to trade my car and how much it was worth in trade. The figures were astounding…between $33, 000 and $38, 000 which represented between $7, 000 – $13, 000 in lost value from a non-hit car. The reason for the reduction was that my car could no longer be sold as a certified used car and was thus not eligible for the 100, 000 mile used car warrantee that many dealers provide. The damage is now a matter of record since it is listed on the Carfax system. I also supplied the insurance company with current data from Manheim auto auction; The auto bluebook and the NADA book to support my request for my claim.
How much did Natiowide offer…are you ready for this…$500.00 by their adjuster Joe B. in their Fairview office. I went ballistic..this was a shear insult to my intelligence.
After many weeks of discussion they decided to have an appraisal completed by a fee paid appraise from Raleigh. Now keep in mind that this appraiser was paid by them and does a great deal of his business representing insurance companies. Who do you think he will favor in his opinion? (Because they had one I too decided to get one performed from an appraisal company and that came in at over $13, 000).
When the insurance company gave me the written report it was one page with no support for his findings while my was a 20 page report with back-up data. All their report said was “in my opinion” with no supporting data. When I asked Joe for the backup data all he said was “that is the full report”. I then asked that he then request additional data he again said “that is the full report”. (I have this on tape by the way).
In the meantime since I told Joe that I had an appraisal he asked for a copy of mine. Since, as I stated, mine had all sorts of supporting data and his did not I gave him just the summary page without data…the same kind he gave me. He then demanded the whole report and I advised him that it would be forwarded to him when I got like data. Thus far I have nothing more from him nor him from me .So as of now we are at a standstill with no resolution.
I also tried to contact the executive offices in Columbus, Ohio and all I can say is “lots of luck”. This company has no concern for the general public whatsoever. I did contact several company Board of Directors ( I was able to ascertain their home/work numbers) but only 1 would return my call.
This company does not care about anything but Nationwide and ARE NOT ON YOUR SIDE! Even the slogan that the adjuster has on his email which appears after his name says it all. It states >>>”Nationwide on your side….begins with me”. It’s all about them!
Addition to my original text
By the way, after nationwide got their 1000.00 aprraisal by their appraiser Joe B did offer that amount but it is still a far cry form the amount I have lost. I am still waiting for the data on how their appraiser arrived at the figures but I know that will never come because he has none.
mellen,
Apparently I was writing my last post while you were writing and we cross paths. Yes you last post was correct.
Mellen,
I re-read my original post and what you interpreted incorrectly was the part where I said I had no liability. I meant that I was not at fault in the accident...it was all of their drivers fault...and thus "no liability". I did not mean liability insurance.
Mellen,
No I do have insurance and do not believe I siad that. However, because I was hit by an insured person my uninsured mortorist is not a factor. It is a state statue that says I entitled to Diminished value by the insured.
Yes, the dealers specifically said that the reduced value was due to the accident and I have that in writing. In fact I have all the facts described in writing.
is this legal?
Nationwide offers a great price online. However, AFTER they obtain your financial information to draft payments, they add things to the policy causing the premium to sky rocket.
They added my daughter to the policy without my knowledge. My daughter is 30 years old, married for 5 years, living in her own home with her husband and 2 children. She has not lived with me, nor been on my policy for nearly 10 years. However, Nationwide added her, which made my premium increase over $500 for six months.
When I contacted Nationwide about this, they are requiring that I send them documented proof of my daughters current residency. Otherwise, nothing can be done. I have to provide them with her mortgage information, copies of utility bills, and copy of her driver's license.
Is this legal?
Actually, you are wrong. If the driver has there own separate policy they can drive any vehicle without having to be on the actual policy that car is listed on.
Exactly, helpNu - Anyone with regular access to a vehicle should be considered a rated driver on a policy, since they are part of the risk that is being insured.
not on your side
I had recently purchased a used Infinite G and was excited to take an evening drive with the moon roof open on a beautiful fall day. It had just gotten dark and I was following a pick up truck with plenty of clearance on a two lane highway. I noticed the truck in front of me drove over an antelope carcass with no problem; unfortunately, I had no choice but to hold on and drive over it too. The carcass took out my transmission and I had transmission fluid running everywhere, I was able to turn the car around and get back to town and park it while I could still get power. I had the car towed the next day to a local transmission shop for repairs. My car sat there for two weeks before the adjuster looked at it. After the adjuster got involved the car went nowhere, I finally got involved with the shop and got it towed to the auto body shop, who finished the repairs and got me going. After the second week in a rental car, the Nationwide representative threatened to take away my rental car as their adjuster was not getting along with the transmission shop. After the third week, they told me I only had a week left on my rental coverage and would have to relinquish the rental or pay for it myself. I called my insurance broker (Wyoming Financial Insurance) and the claims adjuster, neither were willing to assist me. My car was not ready for five weeks, and sat for two weeks because the local adjuster was having issues with the local transmission shop. The last week I was left to fend for myself, hoof it or just stay at home, they really didn't care, as long as I made my premium payment. Needless to say, I sought out a better value for my money.
insurance
I was hit by a driver covered by Nationwide. She ran a stop sign and totaled my car. The next day (a monday) we reported the claim. I was told that Nationwide would get back to me the next day and have an adjuster go look at my car. I waited. They did not call. So we called them. Mr. Cortes (the agent) told me that an adjuster still has not be assigned and they will get back to me later that day when one will be assigned. We called later on (around 4pm). And still, no one was assigned to go look at my car. I asked about getting a rental and their policy states that we (the victim) have to pay for the rental upfront and they will reinburst me (only up to a certain amount, that is). This was extremely frustrating! At the time, I was working 2 jobs and babysitting. I could not be without a car! The next day I call Mr. Cortes and he finally gives me the name and number of the adjuster. I call the adjuster repeatedly and he does not get back to me until hours later. He tells me he has not looked at my car and that he is going on vacation the next day so someone else will be looking at my car and they will contact me the very next day. And the next day comes and no one calls, yet again. At this point me and my family are furious because afterall, I was the victim in this situation. I wait until the next day and call Mr. Cortes's office over and over again and I leave him a message stating that I will be contacting a lawyer. Finally, after 5 days of waiting for someone to look at my car (the car that their driver destroyed), my mom became fed up and called the head office in Ohio. She spoke to someone by the name of Jason Harper. After hearing out story, he agreed to grant us a rental and he told us it WILL be paid for by Nationwide upfront. We had to email him a copy of our insurance policy and that was it. That evening we go and pick up the rental at Enterprise. At this point they are on the same page as us. They understand we are not paying a cent. A few days later we finally get the check for the damage since my car was determined totaled. By the time this is said and done it is mid-May. Now, in mid June, Enterprise calls us up and tells us we owe them the money for the rental and that Nationwide did not approve anything. At this point, we are so sick of the situation, we basically say "screw it, not our problem!". Enterprise threatened my mother with putting this on her credit report. So, now, after enough damage done by Nationwide, my mother's credit score is now going to greatly affected in a negative way. I don't understand why they couldn't pay for a rental like they should and get me my check in a timely fashion. Afterall, this accident was NOT my fault at all. Nationwide is full of crooks and I would recommend avoiding them at all costs because they will not help you.

Yes nationwide is not that good of a company. We recently got into a car wreck from one of their people insured. This what happened:
They asked us if gwatney was ok to take it to to do repairs. We didnt see a problem so far. They repaired the body fine so far. We got our car back and the gear shift wouldnt pull out of park after starting the car. Then a little while later it would. We took it back to gwatney chevrolet on landers rd in north little rock Ar. The same guy looked at it then took a picture of the outside and told nationwide he feels like it was soda spilled into it. Then test drove it and seen it stick in place. A guy from nationwide also said he inspected it and didnt see any problem telling the guy at gwatney they were not paying for it. Also telling us on the phone if it sticks again to call him back and to also bring back the rental now or were paying for it after the day. He kept stressing their s nothing wrong with the car etc... Anyhow the guy at the gwatney collision center told this insurance the reason its sticking is because he feels we poured soda pop down in it and mailed a picture of stuff spilled on the side that wasnt their before we dropped off the car after the accident. He also took his time calling the insurance company so I had to call them back and do his job for him. My experience with nationwide and gwatney collision center was distasteful and there someone I would NOT recommend going to. Do not use or trust nationwide insurance. They acted like they gave us the blue ribbon special but it was more like the green So if your in an accident BEWARE. these people try to get out of anything. Also dont use gwatney cherolet on landers road in Ark. they are not trust worthy either. Besides the auto accident repair incident they also tried to rip me off 400.00 earlier a year ago Saying I needed my transmission fluidd changed. I took it somewhere else for a better price and they told me it wasnt time for a change etc... So dont use nationwide because their not on your side and dont trust gwatney chevrolet.
claims adjustor
Working with (?) a Nationwide Claims adjustor to settle a claim of their Insured whose driver hit and totaled my 1998 Blazer, their driver was at fault. Nationwide used a loss adjust value from CCC International Services that valued the car at $3100, the lowest figure in CCC's research. I was told that if I wanted them to consider raising the value, it was up to me to provide them with comparable vehicles. I did so, and was told that they didn't have to take those figures and would not consider another price. The average value of vehicles I provided them was $4800.00. They offered $3424.64, after 45 days of "negotiating", I finally took their offer because my daughter has physical therapy from injuries in the accident and she had to have transportation to the PT and back.
Nationwide issues a HANDWRITTEN check in my name. I had provided a Durable POA so that my daughter could cash the check and buy another car. No bank or credit union would cash a handwritten check, check has to be mailed to me and I cash it, issue a Certified Check or Cashier's Check and send it back to her. Because the "handwritten" check is from an insurance company, even my bank will hold for two days.
When I talked with the adjustor, Jon White, he lied to me and said that, "in the past eight years he always issued a handwritten check and there had never been any problem with a handwritten check". This was not the first time Jon White had lied to me, Jon White's manager Michael Higgins had lied to me too, when I complained about White's valuation of my Blazer; about returning my phone calls, White and Higgins both claimed that they had called me several times. Calls were returned after several tries.
My treatment from Nationwide's adjustors was less than satisfactory, they were rude, they lied, they would NOT consider anything that I asked them to consider. I will never recommend Nationwide, I will never let the chance go by to tell someone who asks me what a small, petty, nasty, un professional group of people their claims adjustors are.
The only helpful response I got from Nationwide Claims Dept. was from a woman named Selina at [protected].

Nationwide has only ever been on my side when I was paying My Monthly Insurance Bill on the two Vehicles that I have Insured with them and Allied who also wants nothing to do with my claim.I had some woman who is insured with State Farm back into me twice in a parking lot and drove away, her insurance co.State Farm Totalled my Vehicle, My Insurance Co.Allied Closed My Claim the very next day, and Nationwide paid none of my Hospital Bill which was turned over for Collections in my name. In My Opinion all Insurance Companies are the same Give Us Your Money and If Somebody Hits you to bad so sad we dont know you dont want to know you just keep giving us your money so that we can give you no kind of service ever.Talk about a Scam If you own a vehicle your state requires you to carry Auto Insurance If you are going to drive your vehicle Sad that your State doesnt require your Insurance Co.Or theirs to pay off when you file a claim. Iam now looking for a better Insurance Co.and If anybody knows of one would greatly appreciate seeing it posted on this website.Dont know If All States Have it but where I Live theres a Place called the Insurance Commission and If You File a Complaint with them they will Conduct an Investigation into the Insurance Co. who is giving you the shaft and when you get them involved the Rotten Insurance Co. Will Pay Just to get them off their Tail.
not honorable
I joined Nationwide through my agent and had it for a year or so.Every time I was a little late, they kept raising my insurance. It supposedly had a competitive rate but I found out it didn't.They kept cancelling me just to keep my money. On top of that, I cancelled and told them on time and they still sent me a monthly bill even tough they received my cancellation saying that I had to PROVE that I had other insurance. I don't have to prove anything. It's a free country and who are they? They do not own me.By the complaints I see here, I agree: NATIONWIDE IS NOT ON YOUR SIDE! trust me, don't bother.

They keep finding reasons for me to re-write my policy. First time was so I could get roadside assistance, the next thing I know I am told that it was not written correctly and had to do so again, lo and behold, I get a letter today saying my roadside assistance will be canceled on July 21st. I called and was told my bodily injury totals and per accident coverage amounts were to low and the policy would need to be re-written. But I would have to wait until I completed this policy in order to do so. The reason: They said I had a 18 day lapse before I came to Nationwide. In truth I had a 3 day lapse, not sure who does the math over there. However when I am due for renewal again and add the roadside assistance my insurance rates will increase ... again. I actually thought I would get decent customer service and quality service with these people. I am somewhat disheartened to discover they are nothing but con artist and do not deliver what is promised. Never again will I go to them for insurance, I am currently looking for a different insurance provider.
failure to pay
Another driver caused the accident. Nationwide was his insurer. The adjuster, Marie-Lyne Lezeau, called me almost every day for over a month always wanting to get a medical release signed. She blackmailed me by saying that Nationwide would not pay my medical bills until the release was signed. Now that I have signed the release, five months have gone bye and the bills still are not paid. Marie-Lyne now ignores my calls and emailings. I will never sign anything after an accident again without talking to a lawyer first. I guess I will have to pay the bills myself now and take Nationwide to small claims court. Do not get your insurance from them!

Anyone can file a complaint with the department of insurance for whatever state the accident happened in, Please be advised that under NO circumstance are you to any forms...they are (blanket) forms and what this does is let's them collect all of your medical history since birth..then pick through what could or would hurt your case... also check your local laws for what they can or cannot do, if I can be any assistance PLEASE let me know... Oh yeah..Nationwide does SUCK, I agree...get insurance with statefarm, or Allstate! Charles
Yet another one of their driver's causing an accident...They tricked me into signing a release of Liabilty. Having no idea or ever being in a accident I signed the paper on the statement if receiving reimbursement checks. I even TOLD the representative that I didn't want the money and he added to the check anyway, stating Nationwide wanted to offer it to me for any other inconveniences, not to settle from the driver and his mother. He stated that to me while I was signing the paper and asking him what it was...WHAT A JOKE and now I am out of luck and he caused lots of damage to by neck and head and this is how they treat people their driver hit...I'm so proud to say our insurance company would never handle a situation like that.
i totally agree nationwide is shady i was involved in an accident in a parking lot its a he said she said accident meaning we pay our own stuff well months after the accident i started receiving phone calls from nationwide stating i was being sued for the amount of repairs to the other persons car even tho i have full coverage and it was actually the other person that didn't have up to date insurance info after being threatened for months i called my insurance company and gave them the info and they took care of it us not paying anything thank god
fraudulant voicemail messages
Nationwide continues to leave various messages with various reference numbers claiming I need to call them. I don't have this insurance and have finally figured out it is a marketing scam. Shame on them! KNOCK IT OFF.

cancellation of coverage
July 2009 Nationwide Insurance Company send me a letter saying that one of their agents will be around to inspect the out side of my home on a given day. It so happens that no one is at home at the time the agents arrives and does their inspection. About two weeks later I receive in the mail a letter telling me that my coverage will not be renewed because of the hazard found on my property. I call nationwide and ask what hazard are they referring to? Nationwide can only tell me that it is an "Attractive Nuisance Appliance(s) on premises"
When asked what appliance they state that they don't have that information in their records. a day or two latter I call again and ask again what appliance are they referring to and again they don't have that information in their records. At this time I ask if it could possibly be a refrigerator the I was working on, installing new door seals, and I get the same response "don't have that information in their records." Two hours latter I call again and ask what appliance are they referring to and there response this time is "the old broken down refrigerator on the carport"
I ask the lying SOB at Nationwide is that what your records show? He responses with "yes" I ask him was this item on the original report? Again he tells me yes. Nationwide can not tell me when there was a previous inspection to the one in July, they claim that there has not been any others sense and they do not send anyone out to verify that the condition has been corrected to their satisfaction.
OK now I ask how to comply with the letter that was sent telling me that I have to verify that the problem has been taken care. The person I was on the phone told me to send them a picture. I ask, upon doing so everything is back to normal. The agent then tells me that an underwriter will have to examine my verification and then they will make a decision. I ask to speak to the underwriter, I am now told that I can not talk to the underwriter that the insured is NEVER ALLOWED to talk to the underwriter and that I will have to talk to an agent which I was doing at the time.
I have my home with this company for over twenty (20) years. In that time there has been only one claim from storm damage to the solar panel on the roof and a small amount of roof damage. The total was less than $1000.00 I believe. Nationwide can KISS MY BUTT before they get another red cent from me.

To anyone with Nationwide Insurance:
Beware when filing a claim with Nationwide or affiliates listed above. They use a computer based program to evaluate your automobile's value. That program is called CCC Valuescope. Nationwide is not on your side and they will definately take your ride.Using the CCC Valuescope Evaluation process, they totalled my car for a
bumper, right fender, headlight assy, and hood.I would not encourage anyone to do business with NATIONWIDE INSURANCE COMPANIES. They offered me 3548.00 for my car, which is less than trade in value N.A.D.A. Retail value using N.A.D.A. for a 2001 toyota echo with 144000 miles is 4925.00.The tactic they used on me is explained in the link below:

they can be very cheap when paying your claim, pain getting monies out of them, provide excelent service when signing up with them, but than they cancel at will and there is nothing you can really do, it is a very profitable company !, and they have hurt a lot of people, as a rule i would stay out of big business insurance, pay more and get a real insurance, and read careful everytime you deal with them, good luck
they are cheap and provide cheap or no service when it comes out to providing service, canceling accounts for no reason, saving the last penny they can, if you are inexperienced and need insurance here best is to take inform yourself well and be ready for a fight, writen communication is best, but i command them for being polite and gentle when signing up with them .
Nationwide uses the KBB value when the vehicle is totaled. I had a 2005 Taurus that was totaled recently and Nationwide paid an extra $1, 000 over the KBB value of the vehicle. I will stay with Nationwide.

not on your side... for a home insurance complaint!
We had severe damage to our roof due to a hail storm last June 2008. After noticing water coming in through our roof the following day, we contacted Nationwide. Ever since this day, they have constantly denied that we had hail damage and told us we had damaged our own roof and that our roof was just old. We have watched 95% of our neighbors have their roofs replaced ... Nationwide continued to delay and deny our claim. We requested an arbitrator and Nationwide passed their end of the claim off to a 3rd party company. This guy refused to use any of the arbitrators we suggested and kept trying to get us to use one of his arbitrators. My roofing company was OK with one of the guys and we went with this company (Gimple). Gimple took 2 more months to come out and look at our roof. He agreed that the front portion of our roof needed to be replaced due to hail damage, with the hail actually punching holes in our metal valleys. But he used Nationwide's measurements for the roof (which were only estimates, since they never measured our roof in detail ... remember - we had "no hail" damage!). When told his measurements were off, he said he also used Google Earth! This program, according to Google Earth, is used for entertainment purposes only! Even though we have REPLACEMENT coverage, Nationwide will only give us a check for the incorrectly small roof replacement from their arbitrator Gimple. My insurance broker has never dealt with a worse company, my roofing company has never dealt with a worse company, and I've never seen such a bunch of immature incompetent fools. It's now been 11 months ... and my roof still isn't repaired. Nationwide ... a bunch of IDIOTS.
Update on our Nationwide Complaint:
Nationwide has continued to deny that we had any hail damage. Then they said we only had pebble hail damage (that's what they call the hail in the picture below). Then they said we had soft hail damage.
They told us the only resolution was arbitration. Their arbitrator, that they hired immediately after I told them I had a roofing company, tried to deny the complaint. Twice, he tried to cancel the complaint when we wouldn't use his recommended umpire. He REFUSED to consider our recommendations for umpires!
Finally, we agreed to use their 3rd party umpire. Nationwide supplied the data for the size of our roof ... which was wrong by 500 sq ft. The umpire did determine we had hail damage that completely damaged the south side of our roof ... he said the north side wasn't damaged very much. But, in his "award", he forgot all taxes, permit fees, some of the materials, and was off on the size by 500 sq ft. Nationwide - who was refusing to pay the award determined by the umpire ... then immediately sent a check when we provided proof that the award was short by $4000. We complained to the managers at Nationwide ... thinking that we could settle this like adults. They put down in their notes we called them "children". Maybe they are! That's ridiculous.
We then complained to the state of Colorado. Nationwide backed down on their refusal to pay for the missing items, telling the state that they would have their 3rd party umpire reconsider these. They they NEVER did a thing!
So now we're in litigation. We had to sit through a 6 hour deposition, they've tried to have the case dismissed twice, and tried to prevent us from deposing their appraiser.
NATIONWIDE ... NOT ON YOUR SIDE.

I am a retired adjuster, 38-years experience. At one time in my career I was looking at all of Allstate, Farmers and Prudentials new business roofs. This was a great management tool for the insurance carriers to prevent from writing new business with damaged or worn out roofs. I estimate that my company had looked at over 15, 000 roofs in the Tulsa Market area for those companies. However, they decided it was costing to much for our services.
Just a few Months ago, my Step Son advised a hail storm had hit his neighborhood, and many of his neighbors were replacing their roof. He has a cedar wood shake roof, estimating 12 to 15-years-old. Last year before Nationwide would write a replacement policy on the roof, they required my Step Son to replace the ridge, split and loose shingles. He had a contractor out who completed the work requested---and they placed the policy on his home with replacement cost on the roof.He asked me to look at his roof to see if I could see any damage from the recent hail storm. I found several newly split shingles, hail impact marks with coresponding splits and hail damage. I told him he should turn in a hail claim...He turned it in, and an adjuster came out, climb the roof and inspected it. His findings was that it was a total, needing replacement due to the recent hail storm. The examiner then called him advising he did not agree with their adjusters findings, and only saw splatter hail marks. He wanted to send out an Engineer. He is now getting the run around by Nationwide. He called the adjuster who inspected the roof, and he forward his photos which he turned in to Nationwide. In review of the photos there is obvious hail impact marks, and coresponding splits and damage. The adjuster had taken a test square on the front and rear slopes, circling the hail hits he found. The test squares show 14-hits on one slope and 10-hits on the other...This is enough to total the roof. I told him to call the examiner's supervisor and ask him to review the photos with him. He did, and kept saying he did not see hail damage, only splatter marks in all the photos. He again said he wanted to send an engineer out to give an opinion. In investigating the engineer they want to send has been an expert witness in several of law suits filed against them. They had denied this fact to my Son in Law, and said they did not use him as their expert. THEY ARE SHOPPING FOR A WRITTEN OPINION TO SAY WHAT THAT WANT!
They also advised my Son in Law that what they were asking, sending an engineer out to re-inspect what their adjuster has already inspected and advised was a total, was not unusal, and is practiced as a standard in the industry. " BULL !" In my years of adjusting for several different companies, I have never had or heard of them calling out an engineer to re-inspect their own adjusters work. Engineers do not usually get involved unless the Insured is disagreeing with the adjuster's opinion and judgement on the scope of damages. Infact, the Nationwide Supervisor said they did not go on what the adjuster says, as they did not know what hail damage is, and they was not their job, but an engineer's job...WHAT THE HELL! Our job is to inspect, determine the scope of related storm damages, document our findings with photos and diagrams. Then, it is almost always asked for us to put the scope in an itemized estimate for the cost or replacement, based upon our findings. Also, my step son asked for the adjuster's estimate, and was advised by the supervisor they did not have an estimate, or notes enough from their adjuster to provide an estimate or make an offer of what they would do. My son in law called the adjuster who advised he had provided Nationwide with an estimate...
There is something rotten in Nationwide claims practices. They have committed the ultimate insurance claim practice Sin---They have lied, and mislead my Son-in-Law, their insured regarding facts of their claim work. They are going against what their own adjuster's has recommended by his on sight inspection findings and the documentation he has provided supporting the roof is a total loss due to the recent hail storm, and needs replacement.
This is a claim practice with " Malice", which means they are acting in "Bad Faith" Shame on Nationwide...Shame! Shame! Shame!
Definately NOT on Your Side. Same thing happened to me a few years ago. .
Said the hail damage to my roof was product failure. The rub is they paid for hail damage for my dented vent. Needless to say I dropped them immediately. They are dishonest shysters.
call your states department of insurance and file a complaint against your agent and adjuster / or hire a public claims adjuster you have a contract with nationwide they have to comply you can get help so dont just listen to some one blabbing and read your policy
Nationwide Insurance financially raped me and let my roof leak for 4 years filling my home with black mold and devistation! I am financially broke because I had Nationwide Homeowners Insurance on my Condo and also as the Condo Association's Insurance. Nationwide Commercial division would NOT talk to Nationwide Residential division and allowed my home to because so damaged it was uninhabitable. I LOST MY HOME NOT BECAUSE OF PREDITORY LENDING, BUT BECAUSE OF NATIONWIDE INSURANCE !
Video and pictures to follow in near future. This needs to become a Federal issue for the new Consumer Protection Director Elizabeth Warren. Whoever wants to unite on in going to the Feds on this issue PLEASE email me at marisa5775@hotmail.com. This fraud needs to STOP!
Over twenty houses on our street in the small Wynfield subdivision of Stourbridge have had their roofs replaced for hail damage. The only ones denied were three (3) Nationwide houses and one Erie. They accepted our money for an expensive REPLACEMENT policy for 18 years, then have just told us our roof was not put on correctly, hence the wear. Because we put on a nicer roof than most, they looked at the size of the hail damage on the gutters to determine whether the damage on the roof was "truly from hail", but we had put on the heavy duty Leaf Guard gutters which only had a very small perimeter showing at all. We have had three roofers tell me it is hail damage. My opinion? We have contacted the agent several times and after a month, have not heard back nor received a copy of the report. Nationwide is NOT on my side yet. If I do not hear from them soon in a favorable way, I'm thinking of class action suit. The roofers tell me Nationwide has taken a stance of non-payment of hail damage across the Charlotte region. I did not file a claim for insurance over the entire policy, but in the last couple years had two small claims which were inadequately taken care of with the reasoning that I should read the fine print. That replacement policy I bought into surely was described as something great -- only to find out it is only as good as the intentions of the company.
I am going through a similar situation. Did Nationwide make misleading and false statements on their denial of coverages? (I got three denials, two of them backdated which I was able to prove, false statements, their "forensic engineer" lied on his report which I was also able to prove.
I prevailed on my complaint to the insurance commission. If you would like we could exchange our experiences to corraborate Nationwide' intentional and reckless handling of homeowner' claims.
my email is marvellos2 at aol.com
I look forward to hear from you.
