Good day, my Mom was admitted to Linksfield Netcare last week (18 to 22nd July). The behaviour of some of the night nurses is unacceptable.
In particular the night nurse who did night shift (unfortunately we did not get her name), Friday, 21st July, Ware E, room 5, was very rough, intentionally careless, abrupt with my Mom. Amongst other things, at 4:30am, whilst my mother was in a deep sleep she grabbed her hand with every intention to hurt her, and pressed onto the section where the needle was inserted into her veins. She spoke to her as if she was a child and was angry because her BP was high. My mother complained to the Nurse in charge of night shift, who apparently apologized for the nurse's behaviour and assured my mother that they would investigate and speak to the Nurse in question. I called the Ward the same afternoon my Mother was discharged, they did not want to provide me with the nurses name. They said the Nurse in charge of the night shift would be call, I have not heard from her. I do hope that she will be reprimanded and warning placed on file. She is probably doing the same with other patients, some of them cant fend for themselves. My Mother was hospitalized previously, with the same experience. This sheds the hospital in a bad light as it clear that night staff have not changed.
Desired outcome: Nurse in question to be dealt with according to the Labour law practices. Warning, disciplinary hearing. Further investigation. Interview other patients.
