Be prepared, when you run into problems, and you will have problems! When you call customer support, they tell you if your system is older than 2 years, they can not help you any longer! So I guess they expect you to figure it out on your own or buy a new system every other year. Lol

Well the system itself is good. However if you have a problem with a camera and need it replaced, It is the worst nightmare of acrobats that they Put you through, that you can imagine.Was not able to find anybody that could speak English clearly it was a nightmare trying to decipher the service representatives instructions unacceptable under any circumstances there are Rude which calls me to be ugly right back the cameras and the system I bought is out the door,I will buy another security system it will be a smart light and night out will never be in my house again

I wouldn't recommend buying from Night Owl. If you want to make sure your product is covered by their warranty, you have to buy it from their website or one of the few stores they list. If you buy from a different store, they won't honor their warranty. Their customer service is terrible. We have one of their cameras that keeps recording over and over because of a pixel change. I contacted them for help, but they kept me waiting for 65 days before finally giving me an answer. They won't help me because I bought the camera from Newegg.com. Now I can't return it because it's past the 30-day return policy. I'm really annoyed that I'm stuck with a defective camera. I even contacted the BBB, but Night Owl still won't help me. It's just one camera, and I want it replaced. I think they know they have a defective product and let other companies sell it so they don't have to honor their warranty.
Night Owl Protect Cameras: Terrible Quality and Customer Service
I recently purchased the Night Owl Protect cameras from nightowlsp.com and I must say, they are the worst cameras I have ever used. I bought three of them and had to return all of them. The first issue I encountered was that I couldn't control the recording settings or any other settings. Every time I made changes and exited the program, they went back to their original settings. Technical support told me that they had to change the programs on their end and update a new program, but who knows when they will do that.
The second issue I faced was that all three cameras were constantly giving me false notifications. One of the cameras even had a problem with the SD card not staying in. Technical support told me that it was a bad camera. All day and all night, I would get notifications for vehicle detection or motion detection, but there was no vehicle or motion. This was really annoying and it filled up the micro SD cards quickly.
The third issue I faced was with the customer service/technical support. It was a complete joke. The agents did not speak English or understand English. One agent only knew how to say "ok, ok, ok." They would hang up on me and had no clue what was going on. Most of them sounded like they were just getting out of bed and spoke with a low voice with lots of background noise.
Overall, I would not recommend Night Owl cameras to anyone. This company needs to update everything and everyone. The cameras are not reliable and the customer service is terrible. Save yourself the trouble and look for a different brand.
Night Owl Protect Review: Stay Away from This Garbage!
I've been using Night Owl HD for years at my home and it's been great. So, I decided to buy the new Night Owl Protect for my business, thinking it would be even better. Boy, was I wrong! The cameras are 4k, so they're nice and clear, but the app on the phone and software on the PC are a different story.
First off, the Night Owl HD app on the phone allows you to pull up all camera views and just swipe through different ones. Not with Protect, though. You can only have one camera loaded to be able to swipe through the views of different cameras. Plus, my DVR is already full after three days of having it because Night Owl Protect does not know the difference between a car, a human, or just motion. A lot of times, it says human detected when there was none, and then it will say vehicle detected when obviously there wasn't since that camera is in the middle of my office lobby! Why design a camera system with these features that do not work?
And speaking of features that do not work, let's talk about the computer software. Again, my Night Owl HD works flawlessly on the phone and on the computer. But Night Owl Protect is hit and miss on the cell phone, and do not even install it on your PC! It's absolute garbage! So much so that I'm going to uninstall it because it is making the rest of my PC buggy.
I called customer support, and she suggested I use compatibility mode for Windows 7 or 8. Really? But I have Windows 10 and 11, but okay, I tried it, and it was worse.
Night Owl, you should be ashamed of yourself to come out with a product like Night Owl Protect that obviously was not ready to be sold to the public. I could kick myself for not going with Lorex! Stay away from the new Night Owl Protect. It's total garbage! Get a Lorex system. They do not release products before they are ready to work right!
