We visited NSAL to adopt a young cat or kitten for our family. I had a cat for 16 years who was basically a fixture of the family before he passed in 2019.
We decided to go for 2 bonded cats 1 kitten (Edward 25 weeks) one young ( Charlie 10 mo) to keep each other company and help each-other adjust. We were told at the end of the process that “Charlie had diarrhea, but it was mostly cleared up”. We were not supplied with any medicine. Charlie already had some behavioral issues but so did my previous cat so I wasn’t too worried.
Well, the diarrhea WAS NOT CLEARED UP. And it made Charlie even more uncomfortable and he marked several areas of the house with urine and feces. He also gave his condition to Edward who was the cutest adorable loving kitten ever. Edward had multiple accidents that covered multiple areas and furniture.
We had to both separate and contain them for their medication that we were being charged for even though NSAL gave them to us this way. I had to deep clean the rooms on multiple occasions due to all the marking (from Charlie) and accidents from both cats.
After 4 weeks had to do finally give up and return them due to the stress of the cleaning and medicine. As a previous cat and pet owner, this was the worst experience I’ve ever had and I may not ever get another pet again due to the experience I went through with NSAL.
We should have never been charged for the medication and they should have just took Charlie back until he was fully healthy. I was basically lied to about his physical condition. Note, I also donated funds and materials to NSAL so I basically just want 30% of funds I gave to them.
Claimed loss: $350
Desired outcome: They change their policy and apologize
