The nursing staff are all smiles when you walkin or when there is family members around during visiting hours, after the visiting hours, then the true racist and neglect comes out, i noticed that there where patients there for months not being seen by any doctors and when the doctors came by it was just to look for about 5 minutes late at night, most of the staff could not even really speak english. This was my first time in a hospital for more then a day and i would not ever go back to that location, i worn all americans in the southern california area. Do not send your family members to norwalk community hospital or los angeles community hospital on bloom-field, i even contacted the director of nurses marget and never received a call back it should be a federal crime the way they treat there patients... I asked one of the nurses how long had she been in the states and she replied about a year. This message is to all americans. Do not send your family members or your self to that facility. It is hell on earth and the funny thing is that all the patients that sit in the beds for months at a time are being taken care of by the tax payers. Because of the medicare. The doctors wanted the patients to stay as long as they could keep them so money could be made from the bed. Its just a little wierd that the whole nursing staff was of asian or from the philippines. And this is the first time i seen racism directly in my face. This is america and im american and should be treated that way, what if americans started discriminating against asians that couldn't speak proper english.
My dad was a patient there and received the same treatment. he died a couple weeks later after being transfered to the VA Hospital in Long Beach, when he arrived to the VA Hospital, the doctors noticed that the Norwalk Community Hospital felt pieces of medical supplies inside his system. The FBI or Government needs to be contacted to let people know what the hell is going on at Hospitals and the Illegal Nurses that work for these doctors.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
These two comments are clearly by racist white people who have something against Asian Americans. Both of the people who made these comments assume that the nurses are "illegal" or immigrants when neither person has any way of knowing that. The first one racially labels the nurses. I doubt the person who made this comment would assume that poor treatment by white nurses was because of "racism".
Here is the good news - you're alive. You don't say why you were in the hospital, but you also don't say that you were injured by your care. Calling your care "racist" because your nurses were from the Philippines insults nurses. This country has a severe enough shortage of nurses that it has become necessary to recruit nurses from other countries. Having an accent doesn't make someone incompetent or racist.
You didn't describe what was done that you consider racist. Not receiving a call back isn't racist. Patients not being seen by the physician until late in the day is because the physician sees patients in the office all day, then goes to make rounds in the hospital to see patients. Not all patients are seen every day by a physician; some are seen by physician assistants and nurse practitioners who are completely competent and capable of providing care.
If something specific can be described you may well have a claim for discrimination. Until then, watch what you say. You may be a cause of discrimination against the facility and the nurses.
I use to work at this facility and yes there are some nursing staff who are from other countries, but that doesn't make them illegal. They are work visas, and yes the Assistant Director of Nurse name is Margaret Villagran and when she came from her previous employer she brought with her the majority of her staff from La Palma Community Hospital which were all prominently filipino but that doesn't make them racist. I agree that the facility does have a reputation of bad service and maybe this should be addressed with Mr. David Topper who office is at Los Angeles Community Hospital in East Los Angeles or contact the Department of Health or the local Omsbudman to file a complaint. But don't sit here at critize the facility, instead be the person who makes a difference and calls the appropriate people to file a complaint. Norwalk Community Hospital is only 1 of the campuses under the ownership of Alta Healthcare Systems LLC
First of all, ###s...if your insurance is provided by the federal government, FOR FREE!, then you should not be allowed to even have an opinion about the healthcare you received from any facility that accepts your free insurance. Do you really expect to receive A-class service with the insurance coverage that you have...these hospitals don't even get paid for taking care of you, so you're lucky they let you walk in. Maybe you should think about getting a job and getting off welfare, so that you can have better insurance and go to a hospital that will treat you better...actually, on second thought, just go to this place again when you do have better coverage and they will most likely treat you better, just because they'll get paid this time.
LOL, in your face...
it is not right for the american governement to bring all those nurses over here to work! what about all the American people that cant get into the nursing schools because of lack of funding and obsurd waitting list. This is out rages people thinks its ok for them to taka all the jobs! America is in a very sad state!

If the insurance is provided by the federal government into which we pay our taxes then we should have EVERY right to demand quality care. The reason the federal government would get involved in insurance in the first place is to ensure that everyone gets care and it should be good because medical professionals doing their job well and keeping people well is something that serves the public good. It is in ALL of our interests that people who get such care get the very best they can get. You say "you should feel lucky". We don't have a system based on LUCK or you get better care based on the more money you can pay. Where does that end? If I can slip the doctor $1000 I get better care.. but if I slip him $3000 does my care get 3x better? If the hospital isn't being sufficiently compensated then the feds need to come up with a better compensation structure that SHOULDN'T mean you take it out on the patients who have less. In a system where procedures cost tens of thousands of dollars there are a LOT of people who will have "less" people well into the upper middle class would have a problem putting their hands on $15, 000 or $20, 000 and over the course of a hospital stay where doctors and hospitals are padding the bill, overcharging for aspirin, and extending stays to increase their compensation that kind of money can go quickly. Rather than exorcising your hatred of welfare, government, and medicaid... why not advocate for more nurse training.. more support for salaries.. better management of public hospitals and maybe it is better for RN's and doctors to get out of the business of being cashiers and allow for a more robust and innovative payment and compensation system that YES, has involvement of federal and state governments, as well as a private component for those who can afford it. The system you describe can be found in TODAY'S Russia and Thailand.. where health care tourists travel to other countries and pay what to us seems like bargain wages for top notch medical care.. while our systems here starve because our government finances are controlled by a corrupt and immature set of political ideas.
Say What you want nothing will ever change the way i feel for this no good of a wanna be hospital, That let My Mother DIE from a what was supposed to be simple and successful non life threating surgery! More like Medical Malpratice My Attorneys are on top of everything & investigating detail for detail so if you've worked there, are work there, it is Nothing To Be Proud Of ...Sooner rather then later this liltle winky dink place will be entirely shut down and ill make sher of IT!
This is one the absolute WORST hospitals I have ever been to in my whole life.
If you value your LIFE do NOT come here.
My son, who is a dialysis patient, was taken to the ER with a blocked shunt they first missed a whole day of meds (serious medical error) and then didn't receive dialysis until the next day. While in the ER they did a blood draw and his WBC was in the 20's and they waited 3 days before they gave him antibiotics. They put him on a 1-1 nurse (his own personal nurse because they said I requested it, I never said such a thing. His diet was supposed to be mech. soft but they put him on a puree diet. He was suppose to get ensure two times a day and never once received it. He was also supposed to constantly be on oxygen when I checked his cannula it was in his nostrils but wasn't even turned on this happened twice. His teeth were filthy and they claimed they brushed it but when I asked where the toothbrush was they had to go to the supply room and brought a brand new toothbrush. Then they kept pushing him to go to a long term facility when he wanted to come home so as his WBC was getting close to normal the nurse told me the MD told her to hold all antibiotics of course his WBC went up and they stated "see he's not well enough to go home yet." This is just some of what happened so if you can help with an agency where I can file a complaint please email me @misterwest21@yahoo.com. He just got transferred a few hours ago so I'm doing whatever I can to make someone be held accountable. Oh yes, you are correct the nurses are as rude as they come (except for three). Racist, yes I been a nurse for about 20 years and this place is the worst I've ever seen.
I totally agree. My father was in their facility a couple of days ago. When I called in on the 3rd day he was there, I spoke to his nurse by the name of Naty. She was rude, cold, & didn't care about my concern of the well being of my father. All that would come out of her mouth was I don't know I don't know. It's scary when the nurse who is taking care of my father is saying I don't know to everything I am asking her. She tried saying I wasn't able to call in and get information on my father. Then she started talking about the patient that was in the bed next to my father. That told me a lot about her. I was able to speak to the director of nurses & file a complaint against Naty. The other nurses were very sweet and understanding about the concern of my father's well being. I would hate for her to speak to someone else's family member the way she did with me.
Good morning,
I've been a nurse for about twenty years and I'm non-Caucasian . To tell you the truth my son had been there three times and I did meet three good nurses from the ER Jamie, Erin and a male Hispanic nurse but then after that it was all downhill. The reason we went to that hospital was because my son's primary M.D. was a resident there. What I ended up doing was changing M.D."s and going to another hospital. Not only do most of the nurses not speak English I have to believe someone took their Boards (test) in order for them to become nurses. The nurses are lazy and rude. My son, who is disabled, was there when I went to check on him they stated he ate 100% of both breakfast and lunch. I said that's great, who fed him? They told me he fed himself, I said what a miracle he hasn't been able to feed himself for years and is unable to feed himself (caught them in a lie). I could go on and on about how racist, untrained, lazy and ignorant these nurses are my advise to you is to call the company that certifies them it is called JHCAO. Do not depend on this hospital to monitor themselves please call JHCAO they certify and can monitor your complaints. Don't even go to this hospitals patient rights person you're just wasting your time. Remember any complaints call JHCAO>
I believe everything they said about the hospital is true.my mother went there to er after takeing a pain pill for her back after a fall she had.they said they were going to keep her over night to observe her and they end up addmiteing her.she died the next day.they did something to her.and the nurses there are very lazy.i called to see how my mom was and the phone rang like there's a lot more to the story .7 times before a nurse answer.you can tell she was sleeping.i asked her were you sleeping and her answer to me was sorry but we have a lot off work and were tired.what I'm getting out is that they don't care about patients.they also need to speak English they talk there languish and it's very rude of them.well to end my story we got an attourney that took our case.i know that it won't bring my mother back .I just to want them to hurt any one else like they did with my mom.
