scam
If I could give them zero stars I would! This is just a scam! The reps wouldn't leave and were so pushy that we ended up signing up and after that our electricity bill sky rocketed...we were paying double than what our bill should have been. When I called to cancel they said it would be process by the next billing cycle but it wasn't; I had to call three times to cancel! I called again today and finally got a date that the service will end but the customer service rep was rude over the phone.

gas and electric supplies
I agree to switch from BGE as gas and electric supplier because Palmco Power MD' agent showed me a list with prices that are lower than BGE. Ironically, the first invoice received is $44 bigger that even though is seems that the amount used is smaller. I Do Want to terminate the contract with Palmco Power MD LLC immediately. In addition, they said I will receive each month, with the invoice a coupon for restaurant and this didn't happened.
My name is Doina Jones and my addres is 8851 Baltimore Street, Savage MD, 20763. The account from my invoice is [protected]
HIjacked my service
A rep cam to my door and spoke with my wife. My wife showed her the bill and declined service after their discussion. a week or so later I get a letter from my Gas and Electric suppliers informing me that I had switched to Palmco!
We never signed a thing. Never gave permission and if IO find out my wife's signature was forged I will be pressing charges.
Don't show them your bill. If you are interested talk in generalities- but don't give them your info!
Total scam artists.
And when I called to cancel the rep tryed to upsell me!
Palmco are scam artists!

They've called my mother's phone 3x's in Two hours. Next time they call, I'm saying not interested take me off of your call list, next time you call it will be harassment. She's 70 yrs old. Awful. What!? My complaint is not long enough?! They are harassing her!
You bill suck I thought I would save money with you
but my bill is higher and higher
Frances
Any company that wont give you at least a 12 month history of their variable prices is shady. At least now Palmco in its agreement now says there is NO LIMIT the price you can be charged. This is why I only deal with FIXED RATE offers. Most suppliers aren't as shady as this one was and might still be. But I don't see any complaints after 2015 so maybe they changed for the better. But they still don't reveal their variable price history which is a massive red flag.
I don't even want to chance talking to a Palmco service person on the phone for fear that they will hijack my account again! I declined them twice, but they high jacked my account anyway. I didn't analyze my bill for a couple of months due to illness. When I checked to see why my bill kept getting higher despite the fact that my household was using less electricity, I noted that Palmco had become my provider and their charges got higher each month. I sensed that it might be a scam when they called, but unfortunatedly I didn't research them. Had I done so right away, I might have known that they would have violated my right to reject their service. I wish Bge would do something to protect us consumers from unscrupulous companies like Palmco Power MD LLC.

$600.00 Commodity Charges
I have been charged over $600.00 in Commodity Charges on my last 3 utility bills. These charges are listed separate on my utility bills, and this doesn't include the normal charges for electricity. $129.22 for December 2014, $236.94 January 2015 and now $236.01 for February 2015. I have level billing and didn't see the charges because my bill is "Level" each month. Now I have a HUGH outstanding balance, which means my level billing will go WAY UP soon. HELP, what can I do. I have been a customer of Palmco since 2012 and never saw this coming! I only have electricity with them, but I have filed a Complaint with The Ohio Consumer Protection Department. I also sent an email to to Palmco to see if they have a response. I will also switch ASAP back to Duke Energy. HELP!

PALMCO ARE THIEVES! Said they would be lower than your service provider but lied! Service provider was 55 per therm and the thieves were charging 77 cents. Saying they are more competitive! ? Liars and Thieves! STAY CLEAR OF THEM!
Price gouging
At a minimum for the last 3 months Palmco has charged me about $2.40 per therm for gas more than PSE&G would have charged me. For March the difference was about $750 or so. I called Palmco and they gave me a $102 credit for the 3 months. Not very consumer friendly and so I cancelled the contract. Also, I had a heart transplant 4 months ago and don't work right now. Palmco obviously couldn't care less. What recourse, if any, do I have? Thank you

Huge Gas Supply charge
In addition to my complaint to BPU on March 10, I received my March bill in which Palmco charged me as below for gas and elctricity supply.
Palmco PSEG
Gas $2.26 /therm $0.29/ Therm
Electricity $0.31/Kw h $0.11/Kw h.
Again when Palmco rep called me 25 times to enroll in palmco for suppy of gas and elctricity, I was told that the rate will comparatively lower than my utility company, but they cheated me and made me sign up for “VARIABLE Rate “without explaining me that the VARIABLE rate may go 400% higher than my local utility company.”In my JAnuary bill when i was charged $0.83/therm, i request for a disconnection from palmco and i febuary i was charged $1.95/therm, March Its $2.26/therem..
BPU please help us solve this issue as it is not fair in America to cheat the customers to charge $2.26/therm for gas supply, when our local utility company is charging $0.29/therm.
Gas Rate Hike
Just moved into our new house in September 2014 and signed up with Palmco Energy after seeing their low gas supply charge ($0.37 per therm). For the past 3 months my gas bills have been grossly inflated as compared to what I would have paid with any other supplier as they increased the price each month (Jan: $0.74, Feb: $1.25, & Mar: $1.95). The March rate is over 5 times what it was just three months ago (and what is listed on the PA Gas Switch Website)! With my wife and I expecting our first child in a couple of months, it sure would have been nice to have that extra $660 to put towards our family and not into the hands of these greedy people. I haven't talked with their customer service yet, but I'm not holding out much hope that they will do anything to help me, but hopefully this will help someone else from being duped/robbed by Palmco Energy.
I called them on Monday (3/24). I contacted the Sales department first (45 minutes before someone picked up and said they would call me back) pretending to be a potential new customer to see if they would tell me their current rates, but the guy would never give me a straight answer. It was always "$.37 per therm for the first two months and no one knows what it will be in the future". I responded by asked what it was currently or historically, but again he wouldn't give any information. I then contacted the billing department (another hour on hold) and talked with someone there. She was fairly sympathetic and actually offered $115 refund which I accepted. I also told her that I was switching to another company and was going to issue a complaint with the Attorney Generals Office and the BBB (which I have done). I also contacted the PUC, but they stated that they couldn't do anything (since gas supply isn't regulated) unless it was price gouging. I asked at what point did they consider it price gouging, but she couldn't give me anything. I would suggest you follow the same path and see what happens. Good luck.
I wish - I would go back and choose another company. And September, 2013. Thanks,
There were several men knocking on the doors in Plainfield, NJ . Telling lies to Hard working home owners, WE are here to help you lower your electric bill. All Lies.
Have you heard anything back from them? I have the same issue.
"Just moved into our new house in September 2014 ..."
did you use a time machine?
High gas and electric rates
in recent month i switched to Palcom energy as the claimed
the rates are very affordable and will never increase to a point where it would
then be very expensive. My January bill was very high, higher than normal in
which they claimed gas prices increase and therefore charging 83 cents per
therm. I accepted but came to realize that PSEG rates were much lower at 47
cents per therm. I decided to pay the bill and cancel my services with Palmco
as they said there are no cancellation fees. I recently received my February
bill (my last bill with Palmco) and once again the bill was a lot more than the
january. Came to find out Palmco was charging $2.25 per therm, this was
outrageous considering PSEG rate has decreased to .32 cents per therm. I was
flabbergasted and furious. It appear as though, since i cancelled they decided
to increase the rate astronomically i guess to justify their non-cancellation
fees. I cannot see how i can accept this, it is unfair to not just me but to
everyone in the state of NJ where we are forced to accept these scams and
forced to pay these rates when they cannot be justified. If PSEG rate is 32
cents with the national increase in gas prices, how can Palmco charge a rate of
$2.25 under the same gas increase? I refuse to pay these people that absurd
rate and i dont care if its a small amount of money but its the principle. I
have googled this company and found out im 1 in 100s maybe thousands of people
that are experiencing this problem with this particular company. I will fight
this along with anyone who is willing to join forces. This is unacceptable and
i will write to everyone that i can about this issue. If this company continues
to do as they please where would the average consumer be. This is obviously a
big deal to me as I am a hard working person who cannot afford to sit and allow
this to happen as I am not wealthy but fortunate to be able to live in a home
but if this continues how can I afford to maintain a family a house and a simple
lifestyle. We need a voice that can be heard to stop this nonsense. After 3 years
of living here and owning my home this is the first time that im dealing with
this and coincidentally a few month after signing up with Palmco. I beg that
this be looked into as I mentioned I am not the only one. I have no idea if any
one may have complained to someone other than forums but I am hoping. I am not
the type to sue for anything I always believe in resolution and fairness but if
a lawsuit is needed to stop this madness then im all for it.
Thank you,
Concerned citizen of New jersey.
I fully agree with your comments. I am in the same boat. Got cheated. First few months of low bill and slowly they have increased charges. When I realized and cancelled, the next month bill was twice the normal.
Since your comments are dated last month, is there any break thru' since then? Thanks in advance for your feedback. Raj, April 18, 2014

I am in the same situation, also a resident in NJ, I also had Palmco as a third party provider for Gas and Electric, rates were reasonable back in 2013 but as of January thru March 2014 Bills were very high. average $749 for Jan and Feb close to $800 for March. I filed a complaint against them with NY state better business bureau, and placed on their do not call listing. They gave me a check for discounts for Jan and Feb 2014 Bills and were supposed to send another check for Mar 2014. I switched back to PSEG.
In addition to my complaint to BPU on March 10, I received my March bill in which Palmco charged me as below for gas and elctricity supply.
Palmco PSEG

We too have the same thing and it is continuing...this month too. How do we fight this? This is cheating and outrageous...
I am in the same boat. I feel totally taken advantage of by Palmco. My bill would have been $249 with PSEG, but it was $789 with Palmco's rates. I don't know how they can justify those rates. So much for deregulation.
OVER PRICE, DISHONEST, MISREPRESENT, MISLEADING
In Feb 2013 - a Palmco representative called me and told me if I switched to their company, they would always be one cent lower than what Duke would charge me as a supplier and that they would save me lots of money, so I switched to them as my supplier. I noticed throughout the year that my bills were a little bit higher than usual, but I just put that to higher usage. When we received our first cold winter bill for November of 2013 -, our bill was about $200 higher than what it usually was. I called Palmco and found out that they were charging me $ .13 per kw which is double what Duke was charging. I called Duke to cancel with Palmco and they told me I had to call Palmco directly to cancel with them. I found out that I could not cancel with them in the middle of a billing cycle/meter reading so that I would have another month with them. When I received my final months bill with Palmco - they had billed me $ .16 per KW which is almost triple what Duke was charging. I printed up all my bills with Palmco and researched what they had done to me financially over the year I was with them. The first 3 months they charged me less than what Duke was charging. Then every month after that, the amounts went up little by little. The first month that was higher was around $30, then $ 38, and $160 then $163, $242, $ 300 and the final month up to $650 more! My total loss with this company is $1, 725.82 and that is based on what Duke would have billed me. IF they billed me like they told me they would, one cent less than Duke, this would have been over a $2, 000 loss. After confronting Palmco and after 3 times being put on hold, they came back with a $186 credit towards my account. I told them I was not satisfied and that I would be contacting PUCO and the Ohio State Attorney Generals office. Once they received the complaint from them, Connie with Palmco called me and offered a few more credits that took my final credit up to $409. I am still not satisfied with this and told Connie on the phone that I would make sure people know how they screw their customers. Her response on why the amount went up was first off, they only offer the rate they told me as an introductory rate, which was never told to me, and that is only for 2 months. Somehow I got that rate for 3 months though. She also proceeded to tell me that no one ever told me that I would get 1 cent lower than Duke every month, they do not have that on their 3rd party verification recording. Well duh, like you are going to record the lies you tell your customers to reel them into your c***. And based on all the other complaints I have seen online - they tell this kind of c*** to plenty of people, not just me. So I know 100% I was told this my your MIS-representative that contacted me and now others too. The first person I spoke to that gave me the $186 credit, Debra, told me that she heard it in the recording and mysteriously the second person I talked to after the received the complaints - Connie - she stated that was never on the recording. So someone is lying again. Im not saying every supplier is a fraud, but this company will most def. screw you over. I Hope all the people who switched to them verifies what they say to you on the phone to be true and the second you notice it is not, make sure you call them to point it out. She, as in Connie, is stating that since I did not make any complaints previously about my bill, that she has the fact of that and that's why they shouldn't do any more for me. I didn't notice the difference immediately because it was small amounts that just got bigger and bigger and BIGGER. By time I noticed something was going on, I was already into my Nov/Dec billing cycle and I did NOTIFY THEM, I cancelled with them. I hope Duke removes them as a certified supplier because they lie to their customers, they are misleading and they are a disgrace as a provider!
Misrepresentation
A PalmCo agent was going door to door in our neighborhood and promised us that by switching to PalmCo as our gas & electric provider we could save on our monthly utility bills. Since we switched to PalmCo our bills have done nothing but go up and up and up. After speaking to their customer service they told us to wait until the next month when the rates might be lower, but in stead of lower they are nearly triple what our average PSEG bill has been like. Good bye PalmCo. I'm going back to PSEG, and telling everyone I know to do the same.
I have the same exact problem. I had someone come to my door and state that PSE&G was charging me more than they should. I signed up with Palmco and the first 2 months the bill was lower. Then during the winter months my bill went up double then triple! I was paying over a $1000 dollars for the month of February! I have been literally raped! I am so angry with myself for signing up with this company. I switched back to PSE&G but the billing process takes 2 months to go back to them so they are dragging me over the coals. This company needs to go down!
I used to work for this company... I've seen the way they manipulate customers and do the most to not pay for what they do! First things first they offer you an "intro rate" which is AWESOME and way below competitors but DONT BE FOOLED! By the 3rd or 4th bill the rate doubles and sometimes even triples. When you call to complain they'll give you some BS about the prices being competitive market blah blah it's total bull. Then they offer you a low ball refund DONT SETTLE! Immediately ask for the supervisor and I'd you get anyone OTHER than Connie they're bsing you. Furthermore the OWNER of the company is fully aware that these sales reps who come to your door are lying to you! He knows they try to say they are from the utility or that it's a government program and that they try to tell you that you're not switching providers but you ARE! And they will try to guarantee you savings with explicitly stating "guarantee savings". They tell you the price changes monthly similar to your utility... What they mean is the rate will go up and down but will ALWAYS be at least double what you were paying before. And these sale reps use FAKE IDENTITIES so when you try to get them in trouble rest assured they'll be back on the streets under someone else's name. And again the owner is more than aware. The company outsources telemarketers and door to door sales reps by companies run by scam artists, perverts, and criminals. The company is known as PALMco in every other state but, New York where they were known as Columbia Utilities but changed their name because the Attorney General caught on to their deceptive ways. DO Not make the mistake of signing up with them, you will surely regret it
Received fake bill
Two weeks ago I received email from the company Palmco Power ILLLC Electric Charges. They sent me the bill according to which I owed them about $200, but I paid all my bills in time, and it was certainly some mistake. I emailed them that they had a mistake and I wouldn’t pay such sum. But they started to threaten me and I have no idea what to do now. I wonder if there are other people, who had the same experience. Can you provide any good piece of advice?
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.
I also was duped by a PLAMco door to door salesperson. Yes, the first 2 bills were half what they had been with Comed, however, they soon began to increase month over month, until I noticed in March 2014 that I was paying $.25 per kWh for their supply services. That was DOUBLE what Comed was charging. I called to cancel, and spoke to the snottiest CS agent I had ever encountered. She acted as though I was being petty for canceling, and when I asked for a confirmation letter for my cancellation, my request was snottily declined. Then I was told it would take 30 to 45 days for the cancellation to go thru, so I was stuck being gouged for that time. From now on I will stick with the evil I know, (ComEd), and stay away from the alternative suppliers.

Scam
Palmco solicited me to change over from PSE&G and said that after their promotion period their rates would be variable and gave me a historical picture that rates are most of the time better and never said that variable rates could be double! They are dishonest and dubious and if they want to have a real business model and keep their customers, when the variable rates reach over 25% higher than other utility charge, let alone double, they should reach out to their customers and advise them on how to better manage their energy rates. They instead go on the defensive.
below is a link to my actual bills from July and August of 2013 showing the difference in rates, cut and paste if you cannot click on it:

No thank you I tried that way and it did not work so now I will be suing your company thanks
Well I'm suing palmco for a fraudulent signature I never signed the documentation to add them to my account when they sent me the agreement someone else have fraudulently sent my name so now I'm suing them
The cold weather is not what caused the increase in price. Yes the usage went up but the rate per unit quadrupled. It was quadrupling of the initial intro price. The intro price was used to lure people in to switch from there main electric provider to Palmco. Palmco misrepresented how much the electricity would increase in price by saying it was a variable rate. Yes the rate is variable, but increases of 400% in a short time span is not typical of a utility.
Thanks for the reply. Before you replied we have already talked to your Customer Service team and are not happy with the resolution.
PALMCO Power MD became my supplier on 7/27.
Since then my bill has been split
9/25 0.03 distribution 0.06 supplier
10/23 0.03 distribution 0.10 supplier
12/12 0.03 distribution 0.24 supplier
Early in 2015 we got repeated and persistent phone calls from PALMCO saying that our rates were going to go up.. Boy were they correct!
I am complaining about PalmCo energy in Frederick, Md. They promised me a better price than my current electric company only to charge me 3x the rate in december tripling my bill to $500 which is completely outrageous even in december because my apartment complex supplies my heat. My previous bills have been under $200. This company is a scam and will defraud you out of hundreds of dollars!
I never signed up with Palmco and my account was slammed. When I called to complain and demand a refund, they tried to dance around a flimsy justification that someone else, whose electric bills are mailed to my address for payment, gave my account number for gas service and this was sufficient for them to provide service. There is no way this is a true statement and they obtained my account by some nefarious means. I did not even realize they were my supplier until I began to shop for energy efficient boilers due to the excessively high gas bills. It was only then that I realized I was paying 120% over the rates NJ Nat Gas was charging. The gas company was reversed all of their charges and rebilled me at their rates. From Aug 2011 to May 2014, I was charged over $4, 447 more than NJNG. That has all been refunded with no cooperation from Palmco. I suspect that NJNG challenged them to provide evidence that I signed up and they could not produce anything. Their charges are outrageous and even though my bill has been reversed by NJNG, I still filed a complaint with the State of NJ Consumer Affairs. These scoundrels need to be exposed and run out of business. They are hurting people who are just trying to save a few dollars.
I signed with Palmco initially because the company offered a rate that was about half of what I would pay for CL&P. this rate was supposed to be for six months. After FIVE months my rate became a "variable" rate at three times my introductory rate, or 150% of what I would have paid for CL&P. If anybody is instituting a class action suit I hope I am notified.
Be warned. The offer of competitive rates was not true. My bills for the past three months of 2014/2015 have been almost twice what it EVER was with PSE&G, once the first few months were over- what a rip off! I have gotten away as fast as I could and wish I had NEVER SIGNED UP! My fault for falling for the pitch over the phone. I will be reporting them to the BBB and anyone else who will listen!
I am so disgusted with Palmco I'm considering taking legal action. I have already contacted the BBB and Public Utility Commission. If anyone is considering signing up with them, DON"T. Their rates are 3 times higher than the other utility providers and they'll give you this BS about how there was a spike in costs. They are a fraudulent organization.
I am going to the public utility commission as well, do you what they do to help resolve issues with scamming companies like Palmco? I went from paying 180 a month to 600! that is just using my lights and occasionally my dryer!
I suffer as the consumer.
When Palmco Energy showed up at my door step they were supposed to be saving the customer money on bills for distribution charges. Well again another scam and when trying to get in contact with them they are out of business so I'm stuck with making this payment and now I suffer as the consumer.

A person from Palmco Power NJ came to my door and said I was going to get a discount on my bill because of the power outage caused by the storm, I showed him my bill, but saw his ID was fake. I immediately called police and they informed me, that I was duped!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.
