Pawp Review: Promises vs. Reality - A Warning for Pet Owners
So, my furry friend was not feeling well and I noticed she had lost some weight. I didn't think it was a big deal until I saw her pawing at her mouth. When I looked inside, I was shocked to see a tumor growing inside her mouth. I was devastated and didn't know what to do. I took her to the vet immediately and they said she needed emergency surgery. I didn't have enough money to pay for the surgery, so I decided to try Pawp.
I paid $20 for their service, not just for advice, but for situations like this. I thought if a cat can't eat, it's an emergency and they would pay upfront. However, they asked me to fill out a claims form, which was frustrating. I signed up for their service because they said they paid upfront, but they denied ever saying that. I had to show them proof that they did say it. It was a hassle, and I felt like I was scammed.
I read through some of the other reviews and noticed that many people had similar experiences. They make excuses and don't follow through with their promises. It's a warning flag for anyone considering using their service.
Despite my negative experience, I do think their service has potential. If they were more transparent and followed through with their promises, it could be a great resource for pet owners. I would recommend looking into other options before using Pawp.
Pawp Insurance Review: Unethical Practices and Hidden Requirements
I had a really bad experience with Pawp. As an animal lover and insurance agent, I was excited to try out their services. However, I was not aware that I needed to video call their vet to get approval for my pet's emergency visit. This information was buried in the fine print, which is not fair to clients.
When I reached out to Pawp, they gave me false hope and said they could still possibly provide coverage as long as I sent in detailed documents about my dog's hospitalization for pancreatitis. After waiting for 2 and a half weeks with no response, I threatened to report them to the BBB. Finally, they emailed me back and said my claim was not accepted because I did not video call with their vet.
I find it strange that they tell clients to send in paperwork when they have no intention of approving claims after the fact. It seems like they are just trying to avoid paying out claims and make money off of their clients. While I was trying to get ahold of someone via email regarding the status of my claim, they still charged me for my monthly fee. This is not ethical behavior.
I have since signed up with Lemonade, a more reputable A-rated carrier that doesn't have hoops you need to jump through. I will also be reporting Pawp's unethical practices to the insurance commissioner. It's important to choose a company that values their clients and doesn't try to squeeze out every cent from them.
Attached is a photo as proof that Pawp told me they were reviewing my claim for acceptance when in reality they had no intention of doing so. Don't make the same mistake I did and choose a more trustworthy insurance provider.

Pawp, Inc. Pet Insurance Review: Scam or Savior? My Experience with Their "Vet" Chat System
I recently purchased pet insurance from Pawp, Inc. and I have to say, I wish I had read the reviews before making the decision to sign up. At first, the policy seemed like a great deal - only $19 a month to cover up to $3000 in emergency vet fees. Plus, they promised to pay the vet directly before I even left the hospital. However, my experience with their "vet" chat system left a lot to be desired.
Before taking my pet to the emergency vet, I had to go through a chat with one of their "vets" to make sure it was a true emergency. Unfortunately, the "vet" I spoke with seemed more interested in talking me out of going to the vet than actually helping my pet. She gave me bad advice, telling me to stop my pet from eating and drinking for 12 hours and to give him probiotics - advice that I later found out was completely wrong. It took three separate chats with different "vets" before I was finally given the okay to take my pet to the emergency vet.
To make matters worse, Pawp recently changed their rules and now require customers to pay their emergency vet bills up front and then wait for reimbursement. They also require a video chat before going to the emergency vet, which I was unable to do due to technical issues. Despite explaining my situation to their "vet," I was still told to take my pet to the vet. When I submitted my claim for reimbursement, I was denied because I didn't do the video chat. Now, I'm left with a huge vet bill that I can't afford to pay.
Overall, I feel like I was scammed by Pawp. They seem more interested in collecting monthly payments than actually helping pet owners in need. Their "vets" are unhelpful and seem to give bad advice, and their reimbursement process is a nightmare. I would not recommend this company to anyone, unless you're a brand new pet owner who needs basic advice on pet care. If their "vets" were actually good, they would have their own practice - but instead, they're stuck working for a company that doesn't seem to care about anything other than making money.
Pawp: A Lifesaver for Pet Parents in Crisis - My Experience with Their 24/7 Vet Service
So, let me tell you about my experience with Pawp. One of my furry babies (a dog) started throwing up on the evening of January 10th and continued to do so throughout the night. I was worried sick and needed some advice and peace of mind until I could get our baby to our vet. That's when I joined Pawp, and let me tell you, it was a lifesaver!
At first, I joined another site similar to Pawp, where you could chat with a vet online. The vet on that site was nice, but of course, she ended with "take her to the vet in the morning." I was just desperate and needed some advice and peace of mind until I could get our baby to our vet.
Unfortunately, the next morning, our regular vet, who happens to be 46 miles from us, was also booked for the following three days and was then closed the next. I then began phoning around and made an appointment with a vet I had never seen, who was the only one open with appointments available. He was terrible. Close to $1,000.00 and a myriad of tests later, he said he "wasn't sure what was going on" and that we would have to wait for the results of a fecal exam despite me having asked if they tested in-house before booking the appointment.
After two or three days of my girl not improving, I was desperate, at the end of my wits, and having devoured everything I could across the internet, I joined Pawp. There was originally an issue connecting to the video chat from my laptop, but I connected quickly on my phone with their phone app.
In one word, based on my interaction with both "Julie B" (over text chat) and with "Danielle O" (over video chat), Pawp is amazing! While both Julie B. and Danielle O. were great, I simply cannot say enough good things about Danielle O., who I video-chatted with. She is a person who exudes... the type of person I want to be. She was kind, considerate of what my pet and I were going through, she was knowledgeable, informative, caring, respectful... I could go on, but I am about to cry. In fact, the vet with whom I visited just two or three days before could honestly learn so much from the lovely people I "met" "at" Pawp and in regard to how to deal with both a pet and pet parent in crisis.
In closing, I know there are those who love their pets as much as I do. To them, and everyone, really, who may need a little more direction regarding their pet's health than what a Google search may provide or to those who need the comfort of an experienced voice to help with a pet in need, I would recommend Pawp in a heartbeat! Pawp, through its licensed vets & nurses, is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, which I found useful since most of my video calls and chats to them and to the other site I will review shortly were mostly mid-morning (1:00 - 4:00 a.m.), PLUS there is no limit to the number of times you can contact them AND your membership includes up to SIX pets, not just for health issues but for anything dog (pet?) related.
Lastly, I want to stress that this review is a real account of my experience with Pawp, and while, again, I do not believe that any of these sites may currently prescribe medications (especially in the state where we reside), I cannot emphasize enough just how helpful they were to me. My furry-baby-girl was in acute need of help, and they helped. I was offered intelligent ideas from experienced people and was talked out of near helplessness. I am so happy and grateful to them.
