I am an emplyee of pep boys for over 8 years. During the course of these years. I have been denied promtions that i rightfully earned by obtaining ase cetifications. Our health plan was taken away and replaced with a "heath fund". Under this plan i cannot afford to go to the dr. Last year the company decided that they would not be giving raises. This year they decide that they will change the vaction plan. The new plan is fine but they are stealing our days that we have already earned. I have 10 vaction days left until the middle of next year. They are telling me that any unused vaction days by december 28, 2008 will be paid out at a rate of 75%. This rate depends on your anniversary date. Some will only be paid 25%. They act as if the vaction has not yet been earned, but it was earned last year. On top of this the months that i have worked this year up until now those vaction days that i would have got next year are now gone. Thoses days are worth about 2000 to me. Every turn pep boys shafts their employees. People complain that they do not get good service at pep boys. There is a reason for that and it is the way the employees are treated by the company in turn is the way they treat customers. Pep boys fails to realize that when you screw your employees, it makes them not care about their jobs, which shows when you enter a pep boys. Pep boys needs to realize you must spend money to make money. Give the employees a good reason to want to keep their jobs and you will see dedicated employees, which will result in higher sales and customer satsfaction. On top of this offering the best pay rate around will get the best people around. Happy holdys pep boys : (
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
the store manager at the pepboys in san diego named sam in clairmount was very rude to me and other customers and we will not buy from them again, he was very obnoxuous and in fact more interested to be on his cell phone, and in fact one of our co workers from a shop had his cell phone stolen on video by one of his drivers and this sam instead of firing him, kept him on, you would think the employee would be fired, but he kept this employee on, even after he told us the employee was fired, yet when we walked into the store the employee was there, several employees quit on account of his bad conduct, but he must be brown nosing someone to keep employed, also after going to the chula vista store for a part, I was told this manager had been involved about 20 years or more ago with a alledge loss of a trailer of autoparts by a person named roberto, so customers watch your items
I went in for 1 standard oil change. Their mechanic had left the drain plug loose and all the oil leaked out. Messing up my engine. Pepboys refused to admit fault and help out in any way.
Not an employee, but I have little respect for Pep Boys after they SPAMMED my automotive board by soliciting VW brake products in unrelated discussion at our board. This activity is unwelcome and resulted in an instant ban by the admin. The offender used the name "pepboys" from IP 122.173.121.114 out of Chandigarh, India, promoting the Pep Boys product at www.pepboys.com. I am not 100% sure if pepboys is supporting this type of rogue advertising tactic, but logic would seem the user wasn't posting this SPAM for free, and it leaves a bad taste in the mouth. PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT BUSINESSES USING SPAM TACTICS TO SPREAD UNWANTED ADVERTISEMENTS! AVOID CLICKING ON LINKS LEADING TO COMPANY WEBSITES! THANKS.
The service at the Martinez store was so bad I had to leave. The service center for tires was so bad the person was taking phone calls When I complain the guy told me that there were other tires store and I could go to them. I will NEVER go that store again.
We went to Pep Boys for an air filter for our Infiniti, we bought the air filter and when we tried to install it, the air filter looks remarkably different than the one in the car. We went back twice to the store asking if it is the correct part as it looks wrong, told that is the correct filter. 2 Months later, car is running poorly and took it back to the dealer. Turns out the air filter is wrong and it has now destroyed 2 MAF sensors to the tune of $1650. Should have gone to the dealer for the air filter - would have been cheaper.
Pep Boys has the worst online system. I had placed an order for Shocks on my 2001 Chrysler Town and Country Mini Van. I even paid for overnight delivery. Problem with them is that they don’t tell you if they have the item in stock or not. Ordered parts on a Wednesday, nothing from them by following Monday so I called them. Waiting online for them to answer is a real fun experience. The person who answered said they would check and call me back, what a joke. Had to call two more times only for them to be delivered the following Thursday. They were not in stock and they can’t tell if an item is in their inventory or not. Pretty sad in the modern world.

Do Not get the Pep boys conventional oil change, the oil turns to sludge within 1500 miles which if done on a consistent basis, will destroy your car. The buy 3 get the 4th free through Mail in rebate is a joke. Pepboys is a terrible company to work for. At first everything seemed great. I was screwed out of my home store and sent to work in the ghetto over 45 minutes away from my home. I worked there and performed well. I was given the opportunity to get into management I blindly took it. If I had known then what I know now, I would have declined the promotion and quit. Time went by and when I finally did the numbers crunching, for the added stress for management, I was only getting a pay increase of $50 a pay period. That didn't even cover my gas, let alone being compensated for the extra Bull ### I had to deal with. I kept on receiving false promises from my A.D. I started catching some things that didn't seem right to me at all. Found that the sales from the employee transfered to my was actually going to his old store and not to mine. Why this matters is because with his sales, our sales threshold would have been passed and I would have gotten better pay. When I brought this up to my upper management, they never had an answer me, and their HELP TICKET is a joke. Nothing comes up from you asking for help. I ended up getting stabbed in the back by my co-workers, mainly my service manager who told me that he would take care of something for me, when in the end, it got me fired. If Pep boys reads this, they may know who this is. They are hurting so bad for money that they panic and destroy everything, good or bad. I was the most educated person that had ever worked for them and instead of cultivating me to whatever they desired, they got rid of me because they knew I wasn't the typical uneducated kid they hire. Pep boys mistreats their employees to the point where everyone hates each other, fight among each other for sales, lie and cheat to the customer. I am disappointed in the Pep Boys not at my store, but all the way back to their home in Philly. From what I hear know, my old store has 0 business, my old customers refuse to do business because I am not there and employees are leaving. Pep boys, you should be ashamed of your business practices. I tried to make every customer count and for the short time I was with each and every one of them, improve their life just a little bit. If you think my situation warranted my termination when I needed some help, then I look forward to seeing your company slowly waste away into nothing.
I experienced best service at Pepboys - Jimmy Carter managed by their manager Mr. Don,
he is very co-operative and respects all his customers and offers the best service, he is very cool guy and makes all his customers feel very comfortable by keeping his words . He delivers more than what he promises.
If you wish to get the best service visit this Pepboys store at Jimmy Carter.

AT FIRST SHE WAS VERY NICE WILLING TO HELP BUT NOW I'M AFRAID TO EVEN ASK HER A QUESTION SHE ALWAYS HUFFS OR SLAMS CLIPBOARD DOWN AND USES VERY FOUL LANGUAGE. HER JOB IS TO HELP US WHEN NEEDED WITH HER ATTITUDE TOWARDS ME AND OTHER EMPLOYEES SHE'S VERY RUDE UNPROFESSIONAL AND WHEN I AND OTHER EMPLOYEES WORK WITH HER SHE MAKES IT SO DIFFICULT, UNPLEASANT ALWAYS TENSION IN THE AIR WHEN SHE IS AROUND AND IT PUTS US IN A VERY BAD MOOD AND I LOVE WORKING WITH PEP BOYS SHE IS PUSHIMG ME TO WHERE I WANNA QUIT BUT I'M NOT GONNA LET THIS GO ON WITH HER,
FIRST TIME SHE WAS RUDE WITH ME I WAS DRYING MY UNIFORM AND I WAS RUNNING A LITTLE LATE I INFORMED HER THAT I WAS GONNA BE FEW MINUTES LATE, WELL I HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH AN EMPLOYEE THERE SHE TOLD ME THAT " I BETTER SHOW MY ### UP FOR WORK" BECAUSE MY BOYFRIEND CALLED IN SICK I KNEW NOTHING OF THE MATTER SO SHE ASSUMED THAT I WAS CALLING TO NOT SHOW UP FOR WORK I HAD EVERY INTENTION TO COME TO WORK THAT DAY. I went to pep boys for an oil change . When they lifted my truck, they bent the differential cover on the rear axel. I told the manager had him come look at it while it was still in the shop. He said they would fix it if it started leaking. It started leaking the next day I went back they said no we're not responsible .
I'll never go there again . They hired dumb and dumber .they have no experience in automotive. They got them from prison.
ALSO BEWARE OF: TIRES PLUS at 274 Robert C Daniel Jr Pkwy, Augusta, GA! THEY ARE LOUSY, RACIST, & UNPROFESSIONAL: Tires Plus (Incompetent & unlicensed Tire & Car Repair & Vehicle Maintenance). DON'T GO THERE! They treat customers rudely, they damage customers' vehicles while they're supposed to be doing oil changes, rip off customers, store managers are rude to customers & have attitude problems, talk back/insulting customers, and they routinely discriminate & mistreat all minority customers! Beware DO NOT GET YOUR CAR SERVICED AT ANY Tires Plus Auto Care, stores! Recently, they made two customers wait for over four hours, just to change a flat tire!...
i was working for the pepboys in vista ca, and i didnt like that they would make me kind of force people to buy there so i started having problems with the misserable store manager there who does a nasty job as a store manager and all of a sudden i quit and they owed me 2 weeks of pay and they claim 2 say that they paid me and now im losing my place were i rent because i was counting on that money, i also heard the manager say that the district manager bob was happy because an employee was going 2 quit, i do not think that is right, what can i do about this? i would get me money deposited into my account and because of that i do not have any pay stubs, what can i do? this is in vista california pepboys
I agree with most of the comments here because I too at one time worked at pepboys. I have seen all the chit they have to offer. After a few months of giving them the benefit of the doubt you know what I did? I QUIT! Quit the daaaaumm job is what some of you crybabies should do. pepboys is a chitty company, we all know that...so leave and be happy. Do you think they will change or your hard work will change them? The customer did nothing to you. Treat the customers with the utmost respect and fix their darn vehicles. They are still the reason you eat. You don't like pepboys, LEAVE and take a few customers with you.
So Simple A Cave Man Can Do IT!
Agree! Had them only 20000 miles and they may have a few more thousand in them but never will last 60000 and I rotate and balance like a trained monkey, Miles are not right they should be rated 30 to 40 thousand not even close to 60
company on the market for sale, won, t be long know, because ###s for AD positions don, t know how to manage & train their store mangers to be a good team of people.to many executive positions & AD positions are filled & their at the bars drinking with their buddies & their favorite store mangers filling their ###ing heads with ###, see u mangers do a good job & I'll take u guys out to dinner more often & drink our ###s off wearing pep boys uniforms (real professional), new AD'S should be trained properly to keep store managers & not firing them!
I have had two sets of definitey m/t tires on both my jeeps. tires are rated for 40k and both sets came pretty colse to that, so I have been pretty happy with both purchases. I believe that most complaints are based on misinformation. Just because a tire is rated for 60k doesnt mean you will get 60k out of them. there are variables to take into consideration. Driving style plays a big part in the mileage you get out of your tires. tire maintainence also plays a factor, are you keeping your tires properly inflated? are you rotating them every 6k? are you aligning your vehicle every 12 months or 12k as recommended? Being a master tech for GM for the last 15years. I can tell all of your the main reason you are not getting the expected mileage out of your tires are because of neglect, abuse or improper maintainence. loading your 1500 series van like it is a [protected] aint gonna help either.
Pep Boys disappoint their customers as well as their employees must customers services positions requires you to have an outgoing personality, happy, cheerful and a people person attitude but what most companies fail to put in the description when looking for this person is that we need you to be able to be manipulated by managers and HR personnel intimidated and afraid to have your own thoughts if you can do that you can work for us with no problem... what and oxymoron concept
If you want to get an oil change I can recommend Pep Boys but other than that they are simply awful. Do not go to them if you need repairs or need to change anything other than oil. Trust me you will regret it. I had no choice because my car broke down all of a sudden and Pep Boys was the nearest. So I went and got my brakes done there. They did a terrible job. They did not deserve even a pie for that. I was very disappointed with that. I paid and got it done else where. I paid Pep Boys the same amount I paid the dealers to get my brakes fixed properly. I will surely not try them again. They are very bad. Do not go to them you will be left with a feeling of regret and being ripped off after you have received their service.
DO NOT GO HERE! AWFUL! I brought my car here with a radiator leak, they diagnosed that my serpentine belt was loose, it needed a tensioner and a radiator flush/fill. I know little about cars, but I know that if the serpentine belt isn't working correctly, it wouldn't be just the radiator malfunctioning but most of the other operations also. Also, I checked the belt myself after they told me this - very tight. Their charge: $475. I removed my car from their garage and took it to a trusted mechanic in Philly (which I should have in the first place, but didn't want to push my car too far when there was a problem). They told me - if the problem WAS the serpentine tensioner, the cost for that (parts+labor) would have been $113. THAT'S $300 LESS THAN PEP BOYS! Turns out- that wasn't the problem at all. It needed new radiator elbows, a minor charge. Pep Boys are trained to lie and and suck the cash out of consumers. They'll say anything. Save yourself and do not trust them!
I've had several problems with Pep Boys in Brandon FL and I've finally learned my lesson. Had transmission problems, had to tow my car to Pep Boys. Was told I needed a new transmission. A few days went by and they installed a new transmission. Within and hour of laving the shop my car would no longer shift again. Finally made it back to the shop. Was told that they corrected the problem. Yet again, the next day car wouldn't shift again. Took back to shop. Was told I had to take it to Toyota to reset my computer because the car was not recognizing that it had a new transmission. Found out that my transmission wasn't bad but that my ECM needed to be replaced. Cost $500 to fix. Already paid Pep Boys $2, 500 for new transmission that wasn't bad to begin with.
Brake problems. Took to Pep Boys again. New pads and was told my routers were bad and couldn't be machined. So I had to pay for new routers. A week went by and my brakes started grinding again. Took back to Pep Boys and they said they just needed to be adjusted. Another few days went by and the brakes were grinding again. Took back yet again, this time I was told that my brakes were making a funny noise because of the weather. WTF? Okay, I suppose. About 2 months later my brakes were still making the noise. I took my car back in. Was told that there was nothing that Pep Boys could do because my brakes were fine. I wanted a second opinion. Took to Just Brakes. Turns out that Pep Boys didn't do the brake job that I paid for. I had the problem corrected at Just Brakes for $150. I contacted Pep Boys corporate office. What a joke! They just pass the info on to the local Pep Boys manager and that manager called yelling at me. I was at work and couldn't take a personal call. Every 15 minutes the Pep Boys manager called and left a message that I needed to call him immediately. When I finally got a break that's when I called and he yelled at me. Never again! I'm out a lot of money paying for faulty service but can't really do anything about it. Their Bull Dog manager is best to just leave be then deal with.
Why do you keep going back to Pep Boys?
I ordered a part. When I went to pick it up, I discovered that they had ordered the part for the wrong engine for my vehicle. They could not apply a credit to the proper part, so their procedure is to refund and then repurchase the correct part. I did not have my receipt with me at the time I went to pick up the part so they could not do the refund. They kept the part.
I was told that upon my return that there would be no problems. I returned with the receipt but now they have misplaced the part and will not refund me. I waited for 45 minutes while Bill Johnson and staff tried to locate the part.
Bill Johnson kept telling me it was his job on the line. I guess everyone is at Pep Boys is fearful of their job. Their job takes precedence over customer satisfaction. Keep doing this to customers, you will loose them all and no one will have jobs. I know you already lost me as a customer. I was a long time customer.
I would have kept my receipt until I had the right part in my hands.
Have you ever gone to a Pep Boys Store, especially the one in Pleasant Hills / Pittsburgh Pa and LOCKED you car door before going inside for repair service.
You locked you doors, because you didn’t want your personal belongings stolen in the parking lot.
Then, as you are sitting in the waiting room (4-10 hours latter), you see your car in the parking lot, you start to wonder how long has been there, is it finished and why no one was courteous enough to inform you your car is finished ?
After you go to the counter, wait another 15 mins, you are told that you car is finished, we were just coming to let you know (ya right).
When you get to the parking lot, you discover that your car is UNLOCKED.
Then start to wonder if someone is hiding in the back seat.
A few days latter, something you thought was is the car, you can’t find is now missing.
Then you start to wonder, did it disappear inside the store, or in the parking lot?
On the other hand, did it disappear inside the store and that’s why the doors were left unlock to divert the location of a possible theft ?
Hum makes you wonder.
lol go take another hit off the pipe. that sounds like paranoia that they were trying to cover it up by leaving it unlocked. lol.
A pep boys manager sold us some quads, they also sold us a warranty that covered parts & labor. That's what they told us. Well, the manager messed us when he checked us out and sold us the wrong warranty, that covers parts only. When the vehicle needed repair, we found out the truth.
We called pep boys, who told us there was nothing they could do about it now.
SO, they do NOT stand behind what their managers say. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE in my book. BAD, BAD BUSINESS!
Go to the BBB website, there are a lot of complaints about them. BUYER BEWARE!
Big problems at this store... Here are the facts of my situation: 1) I ordered tires online for the following week. 2) I came in for installation as scheduled. 3) The tires were not there. 4) Filed complaint online hoping for discount for the inconvieninece. 5) I came back for installation four days later and tires are installed. 5) When checking out I wasn't informed i could get $25 back with the free sign up of the pepboys card. 6) I buy some gloves in the store and when checking out the lady informs signs me up for the discount card. 7) When i get home to put the tire purchase on my account online to receive credit I notice the kid that checked me out with the tires had changed my address on the receipt but kept my phone number.
I can only speculate why he did this at this point. I am assuming that he changed my address so that the company wouldn't cross reference the complaint I filed for the tires not being there initially. I normally would give him the benefit of the doubt in this situation. However the information I had entered online wasn't changed consistently enough (failed to change my number) to be an accident. I am assuming they didn't change my phone number so they could still contact me when the car was finished. I don't know if this is the way this particular store does business but I feel as though the logic is flawed enough to let people know the facts of my particular situation. To be fair I feel the tires were installed properly and the price was good. I have not heard back from corporate regarding some closure to my situation. I will post an update if they get back to me.
It wasn't a credit card i signed up for. It was a free rewards card. I should have $25 coming back to me once i put it in my name.
Nov 30 I went to Pep Boys to have my Prius headlite changed as they dangerously turn off when driving at night. In 5 mins they were done.and charged me for the service.I tried several times to change it my self and I know I had a hardtime. But the mechanic John told me that there were 2 of them and they changed 2 headlites.I requested for the old bulbs and they cannot give them back as I was told they threw them away. That night my wife and I went out to test them and there was no change .WE went back the next day and demanded to change the headlites and this time I want to witness them doing them and I am sure it will be faster than yesterday if they did I talked to Joanna the service manager about it and also that they could not produce the old bulbs, she defended the mechanic by saying that there are 3 dumpsters and they would not know where they threw them.We requested for the same mechanic and I was witnessing the job he could not even open anything for a long time until he gaveup and said they will refund my money. I told the manager it is not the money that was important here but the integrity and trust of the public, how many costumers did they fraudulently did these things?
I hope you can submit this to whom it may concern to investigate them.
If the new ones went out it is not the bulbs that are the problem. Have your fuses and connections checked.
Pep Boys in Irving Tx charged me for two hours of work on an oil change. They told me they couldn't get my oil screw cap off, and asked me where did I get my last work done. And yes I was at Pep Boys the time before. The desk machanic asked me what do I want to do about them not being able to get the screw cap off. (Drain plug). I told him what, your the machanic you get it off. And I was charged 19.65 for labor on an oil change at Pep Boys in Irving Tx on Beltline rd and hwy 183.
Brought my car in for low coolant. Told me I need a heater core (it sits behind the dashboard inside the car) almost $900.00 bill. drove it for two weeks and brought the car back because it leaked all over the interior carpet. A month later they said there's no water in the cooling system and my head gasket is blown, (no duh) the car still sits in their after 2 1/2 months They said that they will reimburse Us $400.00 for their mess up. Is there a lawyer that wants this case I really don't care about the money it's the principal of it. they talk to us like we're dumb *ss. I hate those type of people and services.
