I'm a Veteran no where was any information about entering the Zoo on November 11th as a free entry for veterans? I purchased Tickets from Tiqets and later in the zoo heard that entry today was free for members of the Armed Forces. Also as a disabled veteran from the Vietnam war with only one leg, paid $40.00 for a scooter. Very disappointed, $40.00 for 2 hour rental of a scooter, is extremely excessive.
Desired outcome: Return of entry fee and at least paying only 1/2 price on the scooter on November 11th
Carousel ride
10/3/21 private party rented the carousel an wouldn't let my son an granddaughter ride because they said they rented it this is not fair to the public who go their to enjoy the zoo the person wouldn't let them ride even if they paid they had empty seats an he still wouldn't let them ride your employees handled it wrong an should be trained to handle situations like this an call a supervisor
Desired outcome: Train employees to handle an make every seat available on the carousel available to the public
the animals
Why does the Lion have a yellow unfiltered pool of water on a 100 degree day? Why is there no stimulation for the Orangutans that lay there lifeless like they are waiting to die? Why was the Jaguar pacing back and forth in the cage in a short distance? Why was the buff gibbon crying out for at least 15 minutes when I arrived? You guys charge $4.00 for one water! Why isnt all of this money you get being used to make sure these animals are happy, well fed?

Animal neglect, special needs treatment
I attended the zoo last weekend and was shocked at what I witnessed. The lady behind the counter was very rude and kept making dirty faces at all the special needs children that were they. They all noticed, they are very intelligent and wondered why the lady was so rude. One needed the bathroom and we were told to wait until we had a ticket, these children cannot wait. She needs to be replaced. The animals app reared to be very sad and lonely. Many there were only one in a display if you call t that. The elephant was so lonely and lost, the person who let her back in acted scared on her. They need love, they have a hear, they should be in a sanctuary where they are around others, not isolated. Displays were closed and empty. Sign stating animals were euthanized were up from months ago. It was sad, the child I was with left in tears because the animals all looked so scared and lonely. People were drinking alcohol, at the zoo. Really, good example for kids to watch parents drink, get in a car and drive them home.nnyou going to be responsible when they kill that desperate for mone you need to stoop that low. A child banging on the glass in the tiger cage scared it so it ran off. Kids screaming at the animals, parents should put their kids in the pens and see how it feels. My kids were raised to respect animals and we hit ever zoo we can. This one I will never go back to. On the way out a man was on the bridge letting a girl feed the ducks, turtles, and fish popcorn, right in front of the sign that said don't do it. Where was the staff to protect those animals. Oh wait, they are going to bloat up and die because they already ingested that stuff, too late. He started to curse at us when we mentioned they should not do that. Horrible horrible place!
I couldn't agree more. I took my kids to the Ohoenix zoo in the 1990s. I moved away and just took my granddaughter. What a sad neglected zoo. This usually means somebody is skimming off the top or cutting corners on expenditures. I also felt sad for the lonely little elephant. Something is wrong with zoo managements. The President of the zoo is a personal friend of Obsma and appointed to some world zoo association. He apparently doesn't spend any time in zohoenix. They can do better. The fact that they don't shows they really aren't interested in running a zoo. The donors should replace him.
