Scam
Preferred interrupted our long distance and put themselves on
again. This is another unauthorized transaction. I then called Preferred
Long Distance about this and did see that we did cancel this account on
April 20th, 2010, but then they stated that they spoke with our company owner on May 3rd, 2010 to verify long distance again with Preferred. our company owner was not in the office that week, and The customer service representative of Preferred Long Distance stated to me that they have a "Voice Record" of speaking to our company owner so he put me on hold for 5 minutes then came back and did not have any proof. This customer service rep of Preferred stated that his supervisor will review the file and call me back later today to see if he can resolve this issue.
My office receives numerous of calls from solicitors regarding better Long Distance Deals. I recommend before agreeing to Yahoo or Google Search "Said" company first.

I had not received a bill from Century Link since December. I call to have them send me a new one when I was told I did not have an account with Century Link any more. I figured it would work itself out. It didn't. I called Century Link again and was told my new company was Preferred Long Distance. I had NEVER talked to them, never received an email, or regular mail. They basically hijacked my phone number. They should be arrested for fraud or theft. At the very least I should be able to punch one of them in the face. I am going to call the Attorney General in Iowa and report them as the crappy, dishonest, scamming [censored] they are.
They just slammed us by switching our long distance, they are Thieves, I can't believe they are still doing business in this day and age
I was also scammed by this company. They told me that they were partners with AT&T and that I had to change to them. I should have called AT&T first but was busy and said ok. They were twice as expensive. When I called to talk to the company, the woman that answered was the rudest, nastiest person I have ever dealt with. I would assume from all of these comments that they get a lot of unhappy people calling their office. Definitely stay away and hang up if they call you.
Biggest SCAM ever... Not an HONEST company at all... BEWARE DO NOT SWITCH to this Preferred Long Distance, this company should be SHUT DOWN... I Switched and it has been the biggest mistake ever, it has taken me # months to get back to AT&T and I can't wait!
I have recevied the same calls. I asked to see something in writing and the agent told me to pull out a blank piece of paper and wite their price on one side and ATT on the other... they also claim to be an extension of ATT because ATT has "screwed" up so many things that the Antitrust division of the government has mandated that "Preferred" handle all business accounts. I told the lady unless they could provide a contract or send a rep, I wasnt interested. She promptly hung up on me. I call the office of th President of ATT and reported this incident and they say they have no affiliation with this company.
I am the owner of my company and they sent me a bill with my son's name and my phone number; I am reporting them to the Ohio Attorney General and to the State of Florida Attorney General for FRAUD and illegal invoicing for service not authorized!
so what is the best way to handle these jerks... do we file a complaint with the Attorney General? I also was scammed, but switched all my lines back over to my original telecom provider, but now Preferred is sending me bills for $1000's dollars and saying they will just take it to collections. Please advise what would be the next step.
Just almost got scammed by this company, told them I wasn't comfortable verifying this online due to scams, then looked them up online while still on the phone. Luckily I found this page and several others and stopped the process before completion! I think we have scam protection on our phone account though, so we should be fine anyway. Be careful and trust your gut! And Google searches. :)
Lucky for you B.A.W. that AT&T froze your account and would not allow the transfer. We were scammed in late October this year and they said all the things others have said above. They WERE AT&T and they were lowering rates. SCAM, SCAM, SCAM... I called AT&T the same day preferred called and told them DO NOT allow any kind of switch of our Long Distance. I had a block put on the year before, but they did it anyway! So now we have a huge mess on our hands with AT&T. They have cancelled our original 25 yr account number, and have given us a new acct number. And then they cancelled that account and gave us another new number! It is ridiculous. We have not had any service interrupted that we know of, but we are by far not back to normal as yet. Preferred was apparently commandeering our account for a week, before AT&T fixed that. I swear... Of course preferred is now threatening to turn us over to collections for the sum of $36, as they gave a credit for disconnecting after a week. This is the biggest scam and how disappointing that AT&T has not backed us up so far. We've been going around and around with them since November 4.
WELL IM A OFFICE MANAGER AT A AUTO REPAIR FACILITY IN SAN DIEGO AND ACTUALLY HAD A REPERSENTATIVE FROM PERFERRED LONG DISTANCE GET ME TO SIGN A CONTRACT BELIEVING SHE WAS FROM AT&T AND THEY WERE IN OUR AREA TO LET US KNOW OF RATE REDUCTION & BILL COMBINDING "LIE". THE PAPER WORK SAID AT&T PROVIDER SOLUTIONS "LIE" WELL I RECEIVED THE 3 WAY RECORDED CALL THIS MORNING AND WHEN I SAID NO I DONT WANT TO CHANGE SERVICE. WOW SHE WAS INCREDIBLY RUDE AND HUNG UP ON ME. I CALLED MY PHONE PROVIDER IMMEDIATELY IN CONCERN OF WHAT I HAD DONE. THANK GOODNESS I PUT A BLOCK/FREEZE ON MY ACCOUNT LAST YEAR AND NO THIRD PARTY BILLING ALLOWED UNLESS I CALL PERSONALLY AND REMOVE THE FREEZE/BLOCK! THANK YOU AT&T ! EVEN THOUGH I SIGNED A CONTRACT IT IS NOT VALID BECAUSE OF THIS BLOCK. I MADE A MISTAKE AND AT&T TOOK CARE OF IT.. ONCE AGAIN THANK YOU AT&T.. FYI PUT A BLOCK/FREEZE ON YOUR ACCOUNT IF YOUR A SUCKER LIKE ME!
