Buyer Beware! I ordered a set of books, received 2 sets (supposedly I clicked yes to add another to the order, which I did not) and was charged almost double. Then I was autoenrolled in a yearly subscription for $97 + tax. So very frustrating. This is obviously a fraudulent company that is preying on parents that want to help their children with emotional distress and this company just wants to take your money by using covert tactics. Do NOT buy from them! The BBB needs to investigate this company and shut them down!

I placed an order for books for $87. I received many emails, one which read click on the link and youll have access to our online library. I did not click on the link because this was just a 1-time purchase. Today I learned that I was charged $97. I never authorized a purchase nor subscription for a year. I request a full refund of the $97. Buyers, beware. This is a bait and switch. By ordering a bundle, it seems this means you are automatically subscribed for one year, AND YOU WILL GET A CHARGE. PCIC website has no contact info such as a phone no. for billing. I have to fill out an online form. The phone no listed in for the company in their Complaintsboard.com listing is an automated answering service directing you to the online site, with a box for a message. This FRAUD. Ive read 66 complaints, and all are pretty much the same. Elderly being charged for a year subscription. DO NOT BUY THEIR PRODUCTS. THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS.

The books I ordered were great but I don't care much for their marketing strategies. First I ordered one book, which brought up an offer for discounted books, I then added more to my order because it looked like a good deal. Then another offer pops up. I don't remember what they called it, some sort of membership or club. It looked like it would give access to more deals. I said no to that. So it pops up again at a better price! It was only $5 so I fell for it because I like the books. Then after the fact it tells me it's a monthly recurring $5 charge. I didn't appreciate that at all. It must have been mentioned in tiny print somewhere, but I certainly did not see it. I could not find a way to access this club or membership I was now paying $5 a month for. I have a user name and password that do not work. I have emailed the company 3 times with no reply. I want to cancel this $5 monthly charge, but they will not reply.

I am having the same problem as others are having. I ordered my books for $76.90 and now I get a new order confirmation for $94.90. The book selection on my new order stayed the same but the prices changed! I tried to do a "Chat" but their site always says "Back in 3 hours". When I leave an email at the help center, all I get is a reply saying...You've reached us outside the chat hours ? I request my bank account be credited for the $97.00 charge as I have placed no other orders with Puppy Dogs and Ice cream Company. Thank you for your help in this matter

The book I ordered arrived promptly and in good condition. It would have been nice to be able to preview the full book of ***, but it was a pretty good book that I think my grandchildren will like. The book was about handling emotions and I would have liked to for it to have more about Christianity and reliance on God which I would have discovered if I could preview the whole book ahead of time.
The books are great for kids. I ordered them for my two youngest grandchildren ages 5 and 6 1/2.

VERY DISAPPOINTED. PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS. HERE IS MY REVIEW. I ordered a set of 10 books with the deal that was given by Puppy Dogs & Ice Cream. To date, I am still missing 4 sets of my order. I have already sent the company 2 tickets to ask for assistance and to date, there has been no reply. I am uncertain as to why a company that supposedly deems itself as reputable can not respond to my ticket question and requests. I only ask that this company complete my order or reimburse me for the books that were not delivered. Sadly, the children that I bought the books to help understand their feelings better from the pandemic, will likely never receive these books that were meant for them. I rarely write a review, but this is one incident I felt was important for people to know. Be careful with your orders, and you may want to pay a higher price for the shipping fee to track all book purchases that you buy from this company. Best. Concered Customer.
From the credit card statements, I have my father started ordering these books in April . He died in January *** and my daughter realized she had never received the books he said were coming for his great grandchildren.We emailed the company and never heard anything and if I recall emailed them more than once and finally gave up. I would not recommend this company.!

Books inside ruined. Emailed PDIC. They were gracious when I sent pictures and agreed immediately to replace. When I got the replacement, thankfully I returned home a few minutes after they were delivered. This package (cardboard, same as first one) was also ripped open and also wet and also left outside on the ground (in both case, despite the fact they would have fit in my large mail box and that I have a front porch with an overhang). Fortunately the outside books were just slightly wet but not really damaged so usable for the three families I am giving them to as gifts. (purchased 9 books total). I am very pleased with the product, and not displeased with customer service at all, but displeased that they were not careful to correct the problem after having this happen in their shipping container twice as well as careful instructions to whoever delivered.

I also ordered a subscription to look at digital content to review some of their other books. I have used the subscription for one month and notified the company that I wanted to cancel the subscription after the first month. I got a very quick response notifying me that my subscription was cancelled. This company is not a scam. An automatic re-occurring charge is customary with all companies offering monthly subscriptions and they make it very convenient to cancel at any time. The books my grandchildren received are wonderful books that my grandchildren have loved reading over and over. I would highly recommend ordering from Puppy Dogs & Ice Cream. They have answered every email that I have sent them regarding my order and the cancellation of my digital subscription very quickly and to my satisfaction.

However on August 9th, 2022 I was charged $104! Seriously? I didnt sign up for anything else! I get $1200 for my daughter and I to live on each month, that $104 shouldve went towards food for her and now Im caught asking friends and family to help provide food for her. I sent the company and email and am hoping to hear back. But I feel this is a complete scam and cant believe they are doing this to innocent families. I wish I wouldve checked here first to read reviews especially since they show the Complaintsboard.com logo on the bottom of their website. Well let me join the masses in complaining about their customer service response. Seems that the way to get a response is through Complaintsboard.com. They will not respond to requests for customer service through their website. I had the same issue. Ordered books and everything was fine. However, a month later $97 robbed from my checking account. This seems like a reputable company, however their reputation has been tarnished by not clearly showing at time of purchase that the customer is signed up for a yearly subscriptioin to read digital books online and download coloring pages. Really? How are you supposed to opt out when it is not clearly shown that you have opted in. I have sent several messages through their website "contact us" portal and have yet to hear one thing from them.; I am a grandmother and ordered these books for my grandaughter to help her through some troubling times. I feel taken advantage of. ***, please refun my $97 as I do not even have that much in my account.

I then looked at my order and they started me on a subscription I NEVER WOULD ORDER! I texted them immediately and they took it off and then before I sent it I noticed some strange book I never ordered was added and the price went up again. I texted again! They took it off and I sent my order after seeing only my Christmas books. I waited over a month and I finally got my order the day before I needed it ...AND they sent the book I never wanted and canceled AND did NOT even get my 3 Christmas books! This company is awful! *** indeed! They try to *** people out of additional money, sucker them into a contact, and then never even give them what they pay for. I bought one book before but I will NEVER order from Puppy Dogs and Ice Cream again! And I will tell everyone that I can, to not buy from this company!

Shady business practices. Purchased a set of books on 9/13/22. And 30 days later was charged for an annual subscription that was set to auto-renew.How'd they get you? On checkout they "auto" opt-you in to this annual subscription - and sneak it in with super fine print. Additionally, it will require you to manually opt-out of this during checkout.What's completely ridiculous is they will then literally spam you with a bunch of marketing promotional emails after, BUT EXEMPT sending a simple transactional "reminder" email of this upcoming charge to opt-out or cancel from! While thankfully, my bank caught the charge in the middle of the night for the subscription (12:39am), I am now inconvenienced of getting a new CC sent out and to update all my other subscriptions.Shady business practices targeting parents here. The scammy and spammy emails to trying to nonstop monetize further. Not to mention falsified advertising on their site with a Complaintsboard.com rating of an A+ when in fact it is much lower or a B rating as of today - due to their shady practices.

Beware of false shipping being offered by this company. Their website clearly stated that I would be paying $9 USD for Two *** shipping. I received my order via the *** through a program they have with *** which offers a much cheaper avenue for businesses to use to ship packages.Nothing wrong with a business doing this. Be truthful and up front alerting your customers their orders will not be shipping *** and you are charging over double the typical rate for that shipping method. I contacted customer service for *** Dogs and Ice Cream and they advised me this.From -- Lovahh Ml from Puppy Dogs and Ice Cream " Please be informed that we temporarily cease our shipping services with *** as we want to put all of our customers at ease, that they will receive their books by Christmas. So just to expedite the delivery, we have only *** option and *** will resume later on."In my note to them I already knew how my package was being delivered through the ***. I paid for Two *** shipping. If you are going to use the *** be up front and just say you are so I and others can take our business elsewhere as $9 for that shipping method is excessive.

On July 8, 2022 I ordered 3 books which were delivered as promised - this was a one-time thing. On August 10, 2022 I was shocked to discover a charge from PDIC of $128.18 on my credit card. I immediately made a "dispute this transaction" with my bank and was advised to immediately cancel my credit card as this was considered a fraudulent charge. I did so and then tried to contact PDIC directly by phone (no answer) then by e-mail. They e-mailed me back in 2 days and said that they could not refund me for the above amount as I had cancelled my card and they do not send cheques. According to them, I had had 30 days to subscribe to some of their services and when I did not refuse this, they automatically charged me for them! On going over all e-mails from them since July, most of which were promoting their books, I found no reference to confirm that I had okayed any such subscription. I am waiting to hear from my bank and if they cannot do anything for me, I will be out $128.18. Needless to say, I am extremely upset and find this whole situation to be the result of doing business with a very sketchy company. I give them zero stars and will spread the word about their questionable policies. Buyers beware!

It looks like I've had a similar experience to so many others. A subscription was automatically added to my shopping cart with a purchase. The awful thing is it wasnt visible in the cart anywhere! I had no idea! The company has responded to many of these complaints with the standard, "Hi there! It looks like you signed up for a subscription. You should have received an email with the details. We've got your back though, don't worry!" The ultra-friendliness should be a red flag...unless they 1) have decency and integrity and 2) are really just that friendly!I did, in fact, receive an email about a "subscription" a few days after purchasing a book...but the wording made it seem like I was now able to access free content, as a gift. It didn't seem to be anything that I signed up for or would be charged for. It was very misleading.I had a hunch it was a scam, so I came to the internet to see what you all had experienced. Glad I did, and I was able to cancel my subscription about 3 weeks after ordering a book. If I get charged $97+ like so many others, I'll go in protesting!..still waiting on that book ?The books seem like they have great content. I'll know if I ever receive mine. But their business practices are shady, so I unfortunately won't be ordering from them again.

We contacted the company and it took days to get a response (Not-Acceptable customer service) there is no phone number to call the company at all! the website says if you require phone support create a ticket! (Not-Acceptable customer service) When we figured out that the problem was the shipping address we gave didn't include the Apt number (Our mistake) we tried to fix the situation through their send a message and wait for a response from a dog for days through their state of the art "convenient" (NOT) customer service system but unfortunately for us (Whine, Whine) we were too slow (Ruh, Row) and the order had already shipped! They told us that they were in the middle of moving their warehouse and no orders would ship until Sept 30 but instead they somehow shipped the order anyway (miracle or convenient response) and they couldn't change the shipping address! (Growl, Growl) Other attempts to call *** to change the shipping address were met with we are sorry but only the shipper can change delivery addresses. So back to the dog house where we have to wait for the poodle to get off her lunch break or get out of the groomers or whatever their excuse is why they can't respond in a reasonable amount of time instead of days later. This company is for the *** I am fed up with their non-responsive customer service and run-around chasing my tail! I think you should run! RUN away now and don't do business with this awful company. Puppy, You should be ashamed of your lazy customer service and days later responses. I get better responses out of my own dogs. We still don't know what mud hole our books have fallen down and don't know if the dogs will ever drag them up on the doorstep!

This review is not about the books. It is about the company. I ordered a set of 10 books, which I thought would help my granddaughter, based on the description. Once they arrived, I knew immediately they were not appropriate for her. When the ad showed up on FB again, I asked (in the comment section) if the books were returnable and refundable. Their Response: "Yes. Please give us your email." Which I did.I kept checking my email, but never heard from them. Turns our THEY DON'T USE EMAIL. Try communicating with a company that doesn't use email. They use some sort of discussion board, and the only way to save the communication is to copy and past all discussions on a document. If I had ever closed that tab during the whole process, I don't know how I ever would have seen their messages to me, or been able to reply. Fortunately, (for better or worse) I keep most of my tabs open.This company appears to be run by a bunch of high school girls. Every message from them started with "Woof-woof, ***" . I waited to hear from them, but time passed. I sent them another message, and was told I could get a refund as long as it was within 30 days of the purchase. While trying to reach them and hear back, the 30 days passed.They also told me that the refund would be in the form of a credit to use to purchase more books from their company.When I complained about how much of the 30 days was spent waiting to hear from them, they waived the 30 day requirement. Kudos to them for that (more typical) customer service.When I said I didn't want credit to do further business with their company, they eventually changed their message to tell me they were refunding the full amount to me, as soon as they received the books back.I sent the books back, and sent the company a message telling them when to expect the books. I received a message from them saying they would send my refund as soon as they received the books. I got a message from *** on September 16, (which I opened September 17) sharing that the books were delivered September 11. With much difficulty, I found a way to communicate with the company that they've had the books for 6 days, and they promised me an immediate refund. Shortly after, I got a message that the refund had gone through. I couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if I could not find my way back to their message "system." I also couldn't help but wonder who was running the company. I was shocked to find out that they have a Triple A rating from the Complaintsboard.com. I wonder if that was based on the number of people who love the books they sell, or if it was based on the way they run the company. Fortunately, all's well that ends well. I was, eventually, able to return the merchandise and have my money refunded, so that aspect of the company gets 5 stars, but what I had to go through, and how difficult it was to try to do business this this company was incredibly frustrating and a much bigger waste of my time and energy than it should have been.

I purchased a set of 3 books from PDIC on July 10, 2022. I was charged the appropriate amount and received the books promptly. All good on that front. However, on the morning of August 10, 2022, I saw a charge in my bank account from PDIC BOOKS for $103.79. After reading other reviews on this site, I see that I (like many others) was signed up for a 30-Day Trial (and subsequent subscription) for a subscription service that they offer that I never wanted or asked for. I even remember selecting the option to NOT subscribe to their service when I made my initial purchase, yet I was subscribed and charged anyway. Not only that, I wasn't even alerted by the company that the trial was ending and that a charge would be made. It just came from out of nowhere. I checked through the emails I received when making my initial purchase, and nowhere was a 30-Day Trial mentioned. This is a terrible way to run a business, and I hope they change their ways before enough people flood the internet with stories like mine. I am in the process of requesting a refund. Hopefully I won't have any trouble. Time will tell. Personally, I won't be making any more purchases from them.

I ordered 3 children's books for a Christmas present for my godson on 11/27/22. I have no complaints about the books. However, this month my credit card was charged $97 for a digital library which I did not want. The transaction ID is ***. I went back and checked there website. It looks like they attach a digital library- free 30 day trial to every order. After that it says it's *** a month. So apparently I failed to remove it. So I could live with being charged *** for a month. But I was charged $97. I have contacted them and filed a complaint, asking to be refunded. They have not responded. I now see on their website under the reviews that many others have had the same issue. So maybe they have so many complaints to deal with that they haven't gotten back to me yet. I had purchased 3 books for $38.26 on 11/24/22. On 12/24/22, WITHOUT my authorization another $104.65 was taken out of my account. I did not authorize this. I did not get any notification in regards to this. An absolute scam which is so hard especially when money is tight around the Holidays. Do not order from this company. When I got no confirmation the beginning of October I reached out to the company. They said they were processing orders but had no tracking info that they could provide. Upon taking my package to the post office I was told this address was not accurate! The postal service would not be able to deliver. I took the pkg back to post office and again was told that the zip code does not exist for this address! If I mailed the pkg it would be returned as undeliverable! However, this week I have a charge of $97.00 charged to my account for an annual subscription to digital library which I did not order or authorize. I was charged 59.40$ for book packet on 10/21. I DECLINED the FREE trial! I received books. NO OTHER EMAILS FROM PDIC came to me regarding any future subscription or charges after any 30 day period. If they did send anything on their end it would have gone to spam yet that is not likely as I received their emails about thanking me for my initial order as well as other sales marketing emails. I never authorized PDIC to ever charge my card. I request immediate credit of 97$ back onto my card, I tried to call. There is no one to talk to as it directs you to website. I sent a message. No reply currently. I wish I went onto the Complaintsboard.com site to read reviews before I ordered but they claim support from Complaintsboard.com? 4 stars on Amazon how does that happen when I read here the enormity of complaints stating the same dirty practices. I only saw this just after I had already clicked the button to complete the transaction and my computer was busy processing. It was too late. I could not go back to remove this extra purchase; and so, I was charged an additional $60.89 (for an unwanted / unbudgeted total of $115.83). I do not want these (3) other books but acknowledged "They got me!" and was going to accept I was scammed and/or deceived by the small print / little checkbox. Christmas comes and goes, and at 2.32AM on the first morning of returning from the holidays (December 27, 2022, I get a text message from my bank saying I was just charged $97.00 from PDIC BOOKS (Puppy Dogs & Ice Cream) for what? I ordered books on Nov 18, 2022. I was charged $58.90 for the books, which did not include a 20% discount I was expecting. I did manage to contact PDIC through email after multiple attempts, and the 20% was credited to my card on Nov 19, 2022. The following month in December, a charge was made to my card for $102.82 that I did not authorize. I feel the charge was made deceptively because a free 30-day subscription trial is offered (which you cannot remove from your cart at checkout), then the charge was made for an annual fee when the website only refers to a monthly fee. And my original book order was made on 11/18/22 and my card was charged automatically with the annual subscription as a pending charge on 12/17/22 - not really 30 days to me. I tried to contact PDIC again to request a refund, but have not been successful.I would like the $102.82 charge removed from my card and my annual access subscription definitively canceled.I recommend avoiding PDIC because, despite the cute name, I feel they prey on grandparents and older folks hoping we do not pay enough attention to our charge card details to realize what they are charging us. And who needs to pay $100.00 a year to have access to their library of books? There are many businesses to purchase books without any subscription and I strongly suggest that you purchase from those businesses.

The books arrived, and all was well until today, when we noticed an UNAUTHORIZED credit-card charge for $103.16 from PDIC that occurred at 3AM eastern time last night, thus about midnight in ***. When I tried to reach them by phone, I was directed to respond to them via e-mail, which I have done, and now I must wait for them to respond back. In the meantime, since this was an UNAUTHORIZED charge to my credit card, it borders on fraud, since they took my money without my permission. This MUST STOP! And NOT just with a short apology note to us. How many other people are charged unknowingly, and never notice this bogus fee until a lot of money has been taken by PDIC from unsuspecting people? I almost had to cancel my credit card because this unauthorized charge, if I rejected it, would have Immediately led to my card's cancellation and all the problems that go with its replacement. PDIC has to be held to account for this FRAUDULENT business activity. If they want someone to sign up for some kind of membership, they MUST be up-front about it, and get peoples' permission for such a charge PRIOR to making the charge! I purchased 3 books from their company in July 2022, then they took the liberty to automatically enroll me in a one month "trial subscription" for their digital library WITHOUT telling me or asking for my permission. When the "free trial" ended one month later, they billed me $104.76. There was NO COMMUNICATION from them (email or otherwise) that I had been enrolled in the trial or charged for the annual membership/subscription. They do not have a customer service phone number so I emailed them twice via their website asking for a refund of $104.76, as well as cancellation of the subscription without renewal. PDIC never responded, even though they claim they will respond within 24 hours. This company appears to be a total scam. They don't have "live" people to talk too, they sneak around and bill unauthorized charges to your account, and then they reply to other Complaintsboard.com complaints saying "Sorry you didn't realize you signed up for the free trial and let it run into the paid annual subscription." That's FALSE! I didn't sign up for any free trial, and apparently neither did several others who have left similar complaints! I was automatically signed up for this subscription by their company so they better NOT pretend they have the right to keep bill me. This is wrong! I want my full refund for this bogus subscription that has never been used by me, and I expect not to be charged for any other unauthorized items/charges in the future. Buyers need to be weary of this company and their scam to *** additional monies out of our accounts without permission. I bought books from PDIC last month. I thought it was strange my husband IMMEDIATELY called me because our credit card company thought it was fraud. I told him no. I never received an itemized receipt in my email for the books, just a thank you email and subsequent emails every day about buying more books. Today, my husband calls me from work again (he is the primary card holder) and says the credit card company is asking again if a purchase from PDIC books was made. I told him no this time because I absolutely did not make another purchase from them again as I did not think the literary quality of the first books was even good. I go to my email, searched for PDIC, go back to see all emails from them. I NEVER received a receipt from my first purchase, but when I go to their website I found that they can find my account I never created using my email or phone number which were required at purchase. Using those, they send a 4 digit code which allows me to look at my account including purchases, which I then found included a receipt for the books I ordered last month AND a 30 day trial which I NEVER ordered was made aware of. It also showed my purchase made today of $97 plus tax for the membership. This is a total scam. I would not have made this mistake and this business is a sham. The credit card gave us a phone number for them for us to find out about the purchase, which surprise, led to a voicemail that does not receive messages and directs you to the website, which also has no phone number. I emailed them and told them I had NOT purchased a membership and they replied that I had. They said they cancelled my membership but then listed all I would lose access to if I did and asked me to reply if I wanted to go ahead and cancel. The email was not clear if they would refund the $97 plus tax money or not as of yet, but it isnt looking likely considering the scam it all is from the start. They need to be put out of business.
