The $300+ unit is of no use to me without a proper functioning Orbiter drive pad block. This accessory is shown as "sold out" for months. I am selling my home and need to polish the floors which I can't do now.
The previous accessory worn out after only four uses with polishing pads.
Desired outcome: I need to get one of these Orbiter drive pad blocks
trying to get a new collector cell for my oreck air purifier
In June of this year I ordered and paid for a filter and a collector cell. I received the filter, but not the collector cell. I have been in contact with various representatives for Oreck on a number of occasions since June. First I was told that it was out of stock, then next time I was told it was in stock and they would ship it to me. I waited, but it never arrived. On October 20 I called and received a call back. When I spoke to the representative she stated that the order had gone out but must have been lost in Canada Post's system and that she would be shipping one out to me that very afternoon. I still have not received the collector cell. I tried calling a couple of times, left messages, but no one has returned my calls. I have even sent an email regarding this, but again no one has gotten back to me.
Vacuum cleaner scratching Floors
I bought an Oreck XL last year and before purchasing the vacuum I ask if the product was safe for hardwood floors and was told very safe. When I got it I used it on my floors, and my house is sort of dark and when we opened the front door and light hit the floors there were scratches everywhere, needless to say I have over 5000.00 dollars worth of damage. A floor man came and looked at the floor and also agreed that was indeed the vacuum cleaner that did the damage. When I contacted Oreck they wanted me to send the vacuum cleaner back, I refused. Anything can happen in shipping or it could just come up lost and where would my claim be. I agreed to have a rep come to my house here in Tn ( same state they are located, a hour and a half away) but they refused. Now I am stuck with the cost of the replacement of my floor, WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN...
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I also have an Oreck magnesium vacuum and my sealed concrete floors are full of deep scratches, I will NEVER purchase from Oreck again.
Refusal to stand behind manufactured product
My wife and I are on our 2cnd Oreck Vacuum machine purchased here in Honolulu. The first one functioned pretty well and we had no real complaints. The second one, however, has been a problem from the start. When we first began using the machine it seemed very heavy and hard to push. We took it to the dealer and were told there was nothing wrong with it, it must be our carpet. So we took it home and tried again. I called and questioned the dealer again and w as told the carpet must have a high humidity and that is making the machine hard to push. So for nearly 2 years we have struggled with the light weight easy-to-use Oreck and felt more and more that we should have returned it right away. A few weeks ago we had the occasion to take the machine in to get a bag replacement and the technicians did some thing to the machine and when we brought it home it worked unbelievably w ell!
But, within 2 weeks it was back to the old push problems. A gain we are told it is working properly. It appears that the unit is not functioning with the belt properly. The wooden roller has scorched and turned black on one end and the machine simply does not perform well at all.
I am aware that we did not purchase this machine from your factory. Instead we purchased it from your authorized dealer. Nowhere in your advertising do you advise clients to purchase from the factory in order to receive satisfactory customer service. But that is the la test reason given us for your representative refusing to make good on your product. I have attached the sequence of emails to date and am going to ask you a personal and very simple question. Do you really back your products with pride and confidence? Or is the satisfaction guarantee phrase a platitude to create easier sales? I find it hard to believe that a family proud company with the heritage you have in the community is willing to allow even one client clear over in Hawaii to conclude that Oreck cannot be counted on for integrity.
You will see from the email and the attached receipt that we simply want our money back. 2 years of struggle is enough. I wish the machine would work for us but am unwilling to undertake having a machine serviced every few weeks just to keep it operable. I await your response.
They failed to refund my credit! Beware all!

I also own an XL21.. After paying 699.00 for it 7 years ago I find that the supposedly guaranty is NOT a guaranty honored by all stores.. One store says they replace one thing while another says thats not something that in your guaranty.. WHO runs the show?.. individual store owners?.. Another thing.. try using this vaccum after 6 years and then tell me...

We have been using this device in our home for two years. Units purchased now will come with a two year warranty and I now know why. Ours came with a one year warranty as we purchased it a couple years ago. The company has notified us that there is nothing they can do. Even though our carpet is burned from the melted plastic from the device. Today I purchased a rug doctor with a five year warranty.

Bad vacuum cleaner
I purchased an Oreck XL vacuum cleaner in February 2008 and received a free iron and canister vacuum. The iron didn't work and was replaced by Oreck. Now the canister doesn't work and they are asking me to drive 30 miles to have it repaired. I've had to replace the belt on the vacuum cleaner 3 times since I purchased this and they are asking me to purchase a 'lift kit' in order for it to work properly on carpet! What does a person normally vacuum? Carpet, right? I've never been so dissatisfied with a purchase let alone the customer service I'm receiving regarding a product I purchased online from the manufacturer.
