Sedgwick cms handled my w / c claim and long term disability claim, they always seemed one step ahead of my lawyer and I could'nt understand it. They cut of my disability even though my dr. Said I needed another surgury. I called them 5 months later and asked why they stopped paying for my w / c meds, the women on the phone who would only give her first name looked it up on the computer and listed off all my personal medication. I asked her how she had that infomation since I no longer worded for the company and she hung up. I did some checking and found out sedwick and united heath care are in bed together (Look it up) look up the juris program. Who owns who's stocks. I have asked my senator to investigate this whole crooked deal and if he wont i'm taking it to the media, then let all the dirt come out and see how many people they screwed over the years. Dont take my word for it look it up then call your senator, that is if hes not getting kick backs too.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I am interested in knowing more about Sedgwick and United Health Care being in bed together. The previous disability carrier was processing my claims with no issues, I've now been moved to Sedgwick, and the Representative, Carree Kearney, will not return a phone call to save her life.
I'm currently sending all correspondence to them via certified mail. They love to deny claims on a technicality. Be careful dealing with these people.
In WVa Sedgewick took over OLD wc claims filed before July 2006, their goal is to CLOSE ALL CLAIMS - either by offering a lifetime credit for them to sign away any care they can get later in life and have their lifetime checks stopped also. If a claimant won't settle, then they simply find a reason to close the claim and stop Perm Total Disability benefits anyway. It's hard to get a lawyer in WVA to help you as most of them are ALSO in bed with Insurance/Brickstreet and Sedgewick Insurance - they follow the money.
anyone interested in further information on ATT/Sedgewick Disb/FMLA issues contact esmith66@sbcglobal.net
Sedgewick in Charleston, WVa supposedly are moving the last of the old WC claims not settled out of state and laying off all current employees. This has not hit the news, but check the TOPIX topics under Brickstreet Insurance and see the comments that state this from an employee facing a layoff. The whole goal of Sedgewick/Cambridge/Insurance Commission - is to have claimants settle, close claims and be rid of them. They'd not have to pay any lifetime awards or medical care - not caring that the injured workers settled due to not being fully informed or the fear of trumped up medical being placed in their files where they'd STILL HAVE CLAIM CLOSED and get nothing. It's a shame that Manchin allowed all this to happen to working people of this state and HE WILL PROBABLY even get more power when he takes over Byrd's seat. ugh
That is horrible! I am sorry for all the crap you have had to deal with!
I recently had back surgery Nov. 8th. At first everything seemed fine the first wave of claims were approved and all was good. Then I went to my second Dr. appointment and it went to( H3LL ). My Doctors office made a slight error by saying that “he has been able to return to work” rather than saying “has not” So Sedgwick denied the claim. When I called they said that I was able to return to work. Even though I have a work slip that says return February 4th 2013. After the dr. corrected that error and sent it to Sedgwick they found something else wrong, just trying to keep from paying. At this point the company I work for said I had to return to work or it’s a voluntary quit. So in other words Sedgwick was trying to force me back to work against dr. orders and the company would be liable if I were to be hurt, that’s if the company would even let me set foot in the place without a dr. slip, cause the dr. has me off until February 4th 2013. Nothing got done about this, until my union got involved and forced Sedgwick to properly evaluate the circumstances. One of the few good things left, about unions I guess.
This sounds a lot like what is happening to my husband right now! Has your issue been resolved since your union rep has become involved? I can't take anymore sleepless nights. My husband has worked 12 hours a day 6 days a week and they cant even give him the satisfaction to pay him to recover from a serious neck surgery? Really? Employed for 28 years!
well the money isn't in the bank yet. However they are supposed to pay for the three weeks of back pay from when they first started to deny the claims. I really don't know how they get away with the harassment.
I worked for FEDEX and injured 4 discs in my back. I have had 4 surgeries on 2 discs. I have had nothing but problems with this company over the years which is since 1996. I cannot get my adjuster to return any phone calls at all. He will not contact me by phone, mail, email nothing. I say we all get together and file a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT against this company. My old dr went over a year without payment from this company. I have had to pay for my own medication, and have gone without mileage reimbursement many times. Any time a case hearing was set up they would ALWAYS come up with an excuse and never show up, then WC would call and the excuses poured in. I cannot understand why they keep getting away with treating people like they have. I know it also has to do with politics, meaning the insurance companies pay off people when voting for the laws. If you are in other states I encourage you to do some checking to see exactly how political Workers Comp really is... Meantime I say lets all get together and file a CLASS ACTION SUIT against Sedgwick...
