australian open 2018 coverage
Your tennis coverage sucks. You have Channel 7, 7 two and 7 mate and cannot even provide live coverage of the men's doubles, Hewitt and Grothe in the Australian Open. You would rather give us [censor] repeats of Seinfeld on 7 mate and other rubbish on 7 two. I believe I can download an app and watch this on a mobile phone but watch the return of Hewitt and Grothe's last Aussie Open on a small screen? Channel 7 should never, ever get absolute rights to ANY Australian sports as they don't deserve it and from what I have seen I will be boycotting all sponsors and letting them know. And if you think I will be boosting your ratings and watch that [censor] Kyrgios tonight instead of watching Hewitt and Grothe this afternoon you are off this planet. All Channel 7 programmes on boycott for me from now on! Pissed off Aussie fan.
tennis coverage
I understand Channel 7 want to promote all its range of channels such as 7mate which is showing other matches but the continual reference to this with a 4 way split screen and the commentators talking about other matches often misses half a game. It is unbelievably frustrating. Don't you think that people in this day and age can research what's on the other channels themselves? A simple sign showing the other games when the players change ends would be sufficient. But of course, that slot is wholly reserved for ads. I hope this feedback, whilst critical, is constructive.
The late return from ad breaks is ridiculous ... is tennis going to have to kowtow to the money grabbers and emulate AFL to introduce a “back from break” signal so play can restart?
I agree.
The continual multiple screen comments whilst the match you are watching has restarted is extremely frustrating.
For example --the final game of Hewitt's double match ---the first 2 points were missed whilst we listened to another talk about how wonderful your app is.
Do you not realise that people are watching to see the TENNIS not your continual patting of your own back.
I dread to-nights match with Federer ---how many points will we miss.
re: commentary at australian tennis open
This is a request for the tennis commentators to refrain from speaking while points are being played. I refer particularly to Jim Courier and Roger Rasheed talking incessantly throughout the Kirios match last night (Wednesday) repeatedly harping on and enumerating distractions for the players, and simultaneously distracting themselves and the viewers. They spoke of the need for the players to hear the play of the ball, but the same applies to viewers - one can pick changes in pace from the sound of the shot; therefore cutting out the commentary by turning down the volume is not a solution. Todd Woodbridge is a far more respectful and better commentator.
I soooo agree with the comments about the Ch7 commentating at the Australian Open. I yelled at Courier just now, during the opening games of Federer's and Chung's match, but I don't think he heard me because he's still yakking on. I don't want to hear his childhood reminiscences of who his tennis heroes were; I want to watch the game in peace with the occasional well- informed comment delivered in hushed and respectful tones. Seven - please do not have Jim Courier again, unless he undertakes commentating mentoring in the 12 months till next time.
I totally agree. Jim Courier's constant talking about percentages and continual boring statistics are extremely irritating. He is always talking while the match is being played which is so distracting. Then he crosses over to another match with more talking and when the match being played come back on one game has already been played. There are numerous times during the match I say out loud " Shut the [censor] up". Also, there are many times I have to press the mute button. The only way to stop his blabbering is to put a tennis ball in his mouth. I do not want to hear his constant talk, I want to watch the tennis in peace.
the hammer and sickle flag which my kitchen rules are displaying
Good Morning
Tens of millions of people died needlessly under the banner of the hammer and sickle. Lenin, Stalin and Chinese communists killed approximately 150 million people using the hammer and sickle banner.
I am appalled that this bloodthirsty Communist regime is displayed openly on Australian TV.
Do people really understand how many people died under the hammer and sickle banner ?
I want this to be immediately be shut down as it is not only offensive to Russians but to every democratic peace loving person who understands history and the meaning of that symbol
Sincerely
Miss Belinda Stevens

PS Imagine if My Kitchen Rules had displayed a Swastika flag if there had been German participants...imagine the uproar coz Hitler needlessly killed six million and yet the Communist regime needlessly killed approximately 150 million under the hammer and sickle flag
tennis commentary
Hi, I'm loving the tennis & plan to watch further over the fortnight.
The commentary is very good apart from John Newcombe's innane comments, critical barbs, which the partnering commentator frequently has to soften & his totally boring voice which on delivery has no inflection.
Sure he was a fabulous tennis player & did Australia proud but it is time for him to retire! Every year I have the same unalterable feelings about him.
Yes I can turn the sound off but why should I?
Channel 7 needs to have someone with a non-boring voice who is able to deliver constructive & educated thoughts to suit the social construct of these present times.
The rest of the commentary is supurb!
Regards,
Carole
commercial advertisements
During prime time commercial breaks the volume of television adverts is almost double the standard volume of the program I have tuned in to watch. I find myself regularly having to adjust the volume of the television set to 10 or lower then when the program resumes the volume drops suddenly to point where the presentation is muffled and requires me to adjust the television volume to at least 18 in an effort to hear the program or presentation. I know that the broadcasting companies hate complaints about their sponsers but every time the program cuts to a commercial break I'm bombarded with adverts shouting at me to go buy some Macdonalds or quickly rush out to BCF and to take advantage of a christmas sale I have no interest in. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who notices this and in doing some research I found that television broadcasters are supposed to standardise the level of volume across all programs and advertisements, but that doesn't seem to be adhered to during prime time television. This is the third attempt at lodging a complaint due to the complaints process being insanely meticulous and almost impossible to register and lodge said complaint.

I'm a big fan of home and away and I didn't like the way feilcty was talking appropriate on home and away that's not right in my book if I never hear her say something inappropriate on home and away again I well be takeing it further if nothing done about it
I have been a fan of home away for many years. But lately I have lost my interest & enthusiasm in the dialogue. To sit thru & watch the stupidity of Leahs nephew who cannot act & the stupid ideas that the writers come up with. Saw the pre run of Tuesday 16th Nov show of putting a box in the ground & Ryder Climbing in. Ryder is an idiot to keep following the nephews ideas which he laughs about & presumably likes Ryder being shown as naive.Giving ideas to younger viewers.
Over the last 12 months story lines have not lived up to expectations.
So sad
programming time for the grand tour
The new series the Grand tour has gone from a startime of 20.30 to 21.45 on a week might. This prevents just about all teenagers from viewing it. My fourteen year old son is a massive fan of top gear and now the Grand tour.
But it being on so late means that he and lord knows how meny other young fans are unable to watch any more.
Could you please put it back on at its earlier time slot so dads can a great laugh with their sons and daughters.
Thank you
J. Hunter Maberly
rl world cup commentator remark
I do not follow Rugby League because of the over excited child like behaviour and less than intelligent remarks by commentators but i decided to give 7 ago with it RL world cup. WOW i felt my IQ drop after the stupidest remark by i beleave by Jim Wilson. After a player had a head knock he exsplained and i quote " he has 15 minutes to prove he's ok thats 15 real minutes" what the crapp is 15 real minutes ? 15 minutes us 15 minutes unless your in a cartoon it made Paul Vaulton seem like a Rhode scholar. Ill stick with Rugby union . I will turn off when ever he's on, fingers crossed i dont have to miss any tennis .
6 o'clock news reporting
I would like to provide your news reporters some feedback as I am getting very tired of the ageism that is now a constant in your (and others) reporting. Taking yesterday's Sunday night news for example:
'A 69 year old elderly man was knocked off his bike..."
Firstly, 69 is NOT elderly and this description of the man who has sadly since passed away is inaccurate and very unfair to both the man and to his family. (Just for propriety, I do not know this man or his family).
What is the journalist trying to imply by adding the descriptor of elderly? To illicit sympathy from the viewer, to make him seem frail, to give an impression? The report just needed to say a 69 year old man and nothing more.
Second example from last nights news:
The woman who was interviewed about the flooded street from the burst water pipe was described as a 'great grandmother'. Why? What relevance does being a great grandmother have to do with the story? Again, it is sympathy the journalist is seeking by describing her in this way? If she was at home with her great children at the time and they were all effected then maybe but this clearly was not the case, or at least it wasn't reported as such. Just report her name, Mrs X who lives in the street, is quite sufficient to get the story across. She was interviewed on screen so the viewer can see her age and determine what they wish, they don't need to know her status.
There have been other times when women in particular are described as being in their late forties or early fifties and a grandmother when again the fact they are a grandmother is completely irrelevant to the story and said only so to illicit something from the viewer.
There are examples of this type of ageism all day, every day, and it is becoming extremely tiresome. Could the media please set an example for the community by not contributing to the age discrimination that has emerged in recent years right across the community.
I hope that this feedback is shared with the Channel Seven News team so that a change in reporting standards around age might be duly and appropriately considered.
I would appreciate your response.
brisbane news
I wanted to point out how disgusted I am in the behaviour of your senior reporter from the Adelaide office who is now in Brisbane. I know I'm just one person but I will no longer watch 7 Brisbane News.
The attitude and treatment of Miss Tauber has been appalling.
I grew up in an era when men were often given roles over skilled woman. As a white male I benefited from it.
As a father to 2 young girls. I'm appalled by it. Plus it is a different time.
As a media organisation I would expect your organisation to embrace having skilled employees and not subject them to harassment.
I'm disgusted, the only action is for the employee to be retrained and warned about his behaviour. I'd prefer he was sacked.
It's the 21st Century Channel 7 not 1970.
Since I moved to Brisbane in 2013 my wife and I have always watched 7 news. No longer. Not until we here of positive changes.

afl football commentators
1. Cameron Ling, whilst he was a good player for Geelong this does not mean he is a good commentator. When talking to other commentators or providing special comments he tends to yell, he has as a very high pitch in his voice which is very hard to listen to. He also talks too much when making special comments. Please have him do more media training on his vocals.
2. I was very pleased not to hear Basil Zemplis wasn't calling the Grand final. I found Bruce and Brian very good. Basil tries to hard; using too many adjectives, reflecting of sports and statistics that have nothing to do with Afl. I feel he is trying to be a Dennis and Bruce all in one.
newsreader
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to you as a loyal Channel 7 news watcher and something is bothering me very much.
Kay McGrath had her teeth done and me and my partner simply cannot listen to her anymore, to a point, where today we had to switch channels.
Her new teeth are causing her great problems, I feel sorry for her as she was a great news reader.
She can't talk normally anymore, when pronouncing "S" makes us cringe!
I'm sorry, either she gets her teeth fixed, or you will lose not just us as watchers.
She should sue her incompetent dentist, as or she ruined her carreer.
I'm surprised, the management has not warned her about this problem.
Fix her teeth, or find a new newsreader!
It's harsh, but we suffer much more than her.
Thank you and have a great day.

afl pro violence commentators
I find it incredibly ironic that you promote the anti domestic violence campaign during the Bulldogs GWS game but then defend Toby Greene's sickening boot in the face of Dalhaus. There is no horror in the voices of your commentators or shock but the usual 'it's a man's game " apology for the behaviour of a bully. I have heard this attitude too many times. Excuse after excuse for violence on the ground, whether it's a sickening tackle tbat leads to a stretcher exit or a jumper punch. The only decent human being on the team is Tim Watson; he is prepared to condemn unsportsmanlike behaviour when he sees it. Your other commentators are moral cowards and hypocrites
afl pre game
I have watched Sam McClure a few times and while I agree he has the correct surname, other positive elude me.
Table cloth shirts, full button up. Overly earnest. Slightly cheesy. Looked very much out of his depth when sitting with some AFL (player) heavyweights and appeared to inject himself in the conversation after prompting by a producer (the overly earnest feel). Most would agree the AFL and media is an exclusive club, but you are feeding the growing indifference.
Rusty, awkward, or green is acceptable but keeping it in the "club" is, sub-optimal.
Gary Thompson.
brian taylor afl "commentator"
Channel 7 are doing the afl a disservice by having brian taylor commentate the afl matches. Bt is an annoying relic of the chauvinistic 1970's. He is condescending to other commentators, derogatory to women and ruins every match with his [censor] wailing pronunciation of any player's name that happens to have more than one syllable "lloooooooyd", or even worse, names with vowels that can be continually bellowed out like some weird kind of mating ritual "ooorraaaaaaaaaaaazziiiooo faaaantaasia." bt needs to be replaced and a new "voice" of afl needs to be cultivated to equal dennis commetti. Bt has taken the coverage completely downmarket, I feel like I am watching the nrl not the afl. Instead of elevating the game he sounds like he is appealing to the lowest common denominator and degrading the standards of afl - he is destroying the elegant and eloquent legacy that dennis commetti enshrined the afl's coverage with. He belongs in a vb commercial from 1974, he's be perfect in a four and twenty pie commercial, I can even see him spruiking for bcf, but in 2017, I really do think that channel 7 should set the bar higher when it comes to the afl.
channel 7 news
I am most disturbed at the News Promo's today (21/7/2017) which state that euthanasia is about to be legalised in Victoria. This is 100% incorrect, misleading, and gives the impression Channel 7 is promoting euthanasia. The legislation is yet to be written, tabled, debated in the lower house, and then has to pass the scrutiny of the upper house.
This gives the impression Channel 7 is promoting and cheering on the legalisation of deliberately killing, sick, vulnerable Victorian citizens.
Many of the petitions and surveys conducted over the past months on this issue, show a majority of Victorians oppose this move. Channel 7 appears to be taking a similar approach to that of the Marxist, left wing ABC.
Please give us balanced reporting on this issue and some in depth interviews with those who promote the palliative care option.
I have not made complaint to ACMA, but will do so if Channel 7 continues biased and unbalanced reporting on this anti-life issue.
i was watching channel 7 news trying to hear lisa hilgdo do the weather but she was more interested in playing around and giggling on tv. i never got to hear the weather because of her this is unprofessional and needs to stop. one time she went over to jason doing the traffic and interupted him eating pretzels. people want to hear the news not see her act up. i know nothing will be done, i have been changing the channel in the morning because she acts up. the news is to be imforative not a joke. please let her know this is unprofessional and needs to stop
wimbeldon coverage 2017
So it's week 2 of Wimbeldon. Channel 7 says it will show live tennis from 8pm here in Perth. Nope. We have a replay of yesterdays game of Nadal vs. Muller. Djokovic is 2 sets up and most of the way through a third set. Do we get to see that? No. Or alternatively the Muguruza vs. Kuznetsova match? Nope.
Not live tennis. So I'll go and watch the Tour de France (live) on SBS who show us what's happening when it's happening.
Try harder channel 7. This is poor, frustrating and unfortunately just what I have come to expect of you.
tennis replay
July 9 2017
Replay of Saturday Tennis. 2.30pm on Channel 72
Watched the replay specifically to see GOAT.
That's Roger Federer: Greatest Of All Time.
Had to suffer 30 minutes of an extremely boring woman's match between Kerber and Rogers. Total waste of time.
Finally got to Roger and only 10 minutes of his match shown.
Absolute disgrace.
The producer should be sacked.
You have footage of the greatest player ever and you relegated him to third place after Kerber and Djokovic (whom you only gave 7 minutes to).
Absolute disgrace.
