I am Kymani Shegog, a director at an alternative private day school located in Fredericksburg, VA. Our school has a tradition of rewarding students for their academic achievements with a trip to Sky Zone since last summer. This excursion is eagerly anticipated, and it has consistently been a source of joy for the students. However, I am compelled to address some concerns following our most recent visit.
Upon our arrival at Sky Zone today, we were surprised to discover that the cost of socks was no longer included in the admission fee. Previously, we had never been charged separately for socks, but on this occasion, we incurred an additional expense of over $120 solely for socks. Despite this unexpected cost, we proceeded to pay for the socks along with the admission fee to avoid disappointing our students. Regrettably, upon entering the premises, we encountered further disappointments: the VR games were non-functional, the zip line was closed, and the dodgeball area was not prepared. This lack of activity availability was disheartening, especially considering that we had paid the full price without prior notice of these closures. It is worth noting that our school caters to students with emotional and intellectual disabilities, who had diligently worked throughout the quarter to earn this recreational opportunity, only to find a significant portion of the activities unavailable.
Moreover, there was a notable absence of trained staff at the concession stand, resulting in a prolonged wait of over twenty minutes for assistance for both our staff and students. As an advocate for equitable practices for an underrepresented student demographic, I must express my deep disappointment in the service provided during our visit today. Despite an expenditure of $602.00, the experience fell short of the quality and standard we have previously enjoyed. I am sincerely disheartened by this outcome and hopeful that this message reaches the appropriate individuals to address and rectify the situation promptly.
Claimed loss: $602.00 USD
Desired outcome: A complete refund of $602 USD or a voucher for $700.
