SomethingsPhishy Review: Nurse Your Fish Back to Health After Shipping
I gotta be real with y'all, when I got my fish from SomethingsPhishy, I was pretty ticked off. UPS decided to deliver them as the last box of the day, and by the time they got to me, they were looking pretty rough. They were laying on their sides and the box was hotter than a Florida summer day. I was convinced they weren't gonna make it.
But, I reached out to the seller and he gave me some solid advice. He told me to clean out the tank and do frequent water changes, and to follow the instructions on the website to a T. So, for two weeks straight, I changed that water with 50 and 80 percent water changes and fed them live brine shrimp to stimulate their natural instincts to eat.
And you know what? It worked. Today, my fish are absolutely gorgeous. I wish I could show y'all before and after pics, because the difference is night and day.
Now, I know some folks like to blame the seller when their fish arrive in bad shape, but honestly, there are a lot of factors at play when you're buying fish online and having them shipped. Fish are finicky creatures, and even when you buy them from your local pet shop, they can die from stress. Shipping just adds another layer of complexity to the whole process.
But, I gotta say, SomethingsPhishy provides clear and precise directions on their website for how to quarantine your fish and nurse them back to health after the shipping process. And, if you follow those directions, you can end up with some seriously beautiful fish.
Now, I won't lie, I wasn't a happy customer at first. But, after going through the learning process and seeing my fish thrive, I would definitely purchase from SomethingsPhishy again. And, honestly, I'd be happy to pay $100 for 5 fish from them, rather than $60 for 1 fish at my local pet shop.
So, if you're thinking about buying fish online, give SomethingsPhishy a shot. Just be prepared to put in a little extra effort to get your fish healthy and happy.
SomethingsPhishy Review: Good Customer Service, But Beware of Risks When Buying Fish Online
I recently purchased 8 discus from SomethingsPhishy and I have to say, my experience was pretty good. The fish arrived in a timely manner and I was kept up to date with emails throughout the shipping process. The packaging was done well and the fish arrived in good condition, except for one small issue.
One of the fish had a small spot on its head, which I noticed right away. I contacted customer support and they were very helpful. They refunded me for the fish and gave me a lot of information on how to care for it. The fish seems to be doing well and I'm hopeful that the wound will heal soon.
However, after 5 days, I noticed that half of the fish were displaying symptoms of Hex parasite. They had stringy white feces and one of them had a hole in its head. I was pretty disappointed and worried about the health of my other fish. I had to run a full course of antibiotics on the tank and now I'm not sure if I want to move them into my show tank with my other discus, as I don't want to risk exposing them to the parasite.
Despite this setback, I have to say that SomethingsPhishy did a good job overall. They were very helpful and accommodating when I made a mistake during the acclimation process. Keith, the owner of the company, even refunded my fish even though it was my fault. I appreciate that kind of customer service.
In hindsight, I probably should have shopped at a higher end seller to avoid the added stress and expense of treating sick fish. But, you get what you pay for, and in this case, I got pretty but sick fish. I'm hopeful that with treatment, they'll all live and be healthy again. Overall, I would recommend SomethingsPhishy, but just be aware of the risks involved with buying fish online.
Terrible Experience with SomethingsPhishy: Sick Fish and Poor Customer Service
I have to say, I was extremely disappointed with my experience with SomethingsPhishy. I made the mistake of ordering fish from them without reading any reviews beforehand, and it was a big mistake. The fish arrived sick and in terrible condition, and the customer service was just as bad.
I ordered five discus, which are delicate fish that require careful handling and shipping. I was a bit nervous about having them shipped, but the information on the website made me feel a bit better. Unfortunately, the fish arrived in leaky bags that were too small and barely had enough water to cover them. The temperature was also very low, which is not good for discus. They claimed they would take extra precautions in cold weather, but it was clear they did not. There was only one heat pack, which was already room temperature by the time I received the box. The water in the bags was very cold, and the fish were clearly suffering.
I followed the instructions and floated the bags for the prescribed time before releasing the fish. Unfortunately, all five of them were in terrible condition. They had white patches and fin rot, and they were clearly sickly. I have never seen fish in such bad condition before. It was shocking that they would sell fish in that condition.
When I contacted customer service, I was polite and simply described the condition of the fish and asked for advice on how to treat them. It took nearly 24 hours for them to respond, and when they did, they asked for pictures. I sent the photos, but because they saw that the fish were not in a bare bottom tank, they refused to offer any help or advice. It was clear that they did not care about the health of the fish or the satisfaction of their customers.
Overall, I would not recommend SomethingsPhishy to anyone. The fish arrived sick and in terrible condition, and the customer service was just as bad. It's clear that they do not care about the health of their fish or the satisfaction of their customers. Save yourself the trouble and buy your fish from somewhere else.
Impressive Customer Service and Healthy Fish - Five Stars Plus!
SomethingsPhishy is a great place to order live fish online. I have been ordering fish online for a while now, and I have had both good and bad experiences. When I first saw the reviews for SomethingsPhishy, I was hesitant to order from them. However, I decided to give them a try and I am so glad I did.
I placed a small order with them and received my fish quickly and they were all healthy and as described. I then decided to place a larger order with them, and once again, everything was great.
But then, I decided to place a really large order with them - 48 fish! I received an email from them letting me know that my order had been shipped and giving me a UPS tracking number. UPS said that my order would be delivered to my home around 10:30 AM. I was so excited to receive my fish, but unfortunately, UPS had a delay and my order would not arrive until the next day. I was very concerned about the temperature of the fish during the delay, so I sent an email to SomethingsPhishy to let them know about my concerns.
To my surprise, I received a very professional and helpful email back from Keith at SomethingsPhishy. He asked me to be patient and not to give up, and he assured me that they were doing everything they could to make sure my fish arrived safely. Unfortunately, UPS had another delay, and my order did not arrive for two days. Keith stayed in contact with me throughout the delay, and he worked with UPS to try to get my order delivered as soon as possible.
When my order finally arrived, the box was damaged and it was clear that it was UPS's fault. However, SomethingsPhishy and Keith worked with me to make sure that all of the fish were safe and healthy. They replaced all of the dead fish, even though it was not their fault.
I am so impressed with SomethingsPhishy and Keith. They were very professional and respectful throughout the entire process. They were always available to answer my questions and to help me with any concerns I had. I can't thank them enough for their help and support. They are truly the best! Five Stars Plus! AAA+++
Terrible Experience with SomethingsPhishy - Would Not Recommend
I've had a previous experience with SomethingsPhishy and it was alright, but my recent order was a complete disaster. I placed an order for 4 discus and a dozen cardinals, and I even paid extra for Saturday delivery. However, they decided not to ship the 4 discus they had in stock because the cardinals were not immediately available. This was not what I intended and I reached out to them to let them know that I paid for the extra shipping so I could receive my fish on Saturday. Unfortunately, they don't have a phone number to call, so I had to communicate through email.
To my surprise, they insisted that it was my fault for not understanding how their ordering system worked. I explained that I acknowledged the cardinals could be delivered at a later date, but I wanted the 4 discus and was happy to pay the extra shipping. Despite my efforts to work with them, they continued to blame me for the misunderstanding. They even had the audacity to tell me that it was my problem that the 4 fish I wanted and paid extra for didn't ship.
I suggested that they could have called me or worked with me in some way to sort out any questions about shipping, but they refused to do so. They even threatened to charge me 20% if I canceled the order because they claimed it was all my fault. Their attitude was extremely off-putting and made me reconsider doing business with them.
I was willing to pay extra for shipping and work with them, but they refused to communicate effectively. It's frustrating that they don't have a phone number to call and their customer service is terrible. I would recommend going to a local, privately-owned pet shop instead to see if they can fulfill special orders for fish like discus and hard-to-find tetras.
Overall, my experience with SomethingsPhishy was terrible. It's almost comical how bad their service is. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
Avoid SomethingsPhishy: Poor Quality Fish and Unprofessional Owner
I recently had a terrible experience with SomethingsPhishy (somethingsphishy.com) and I strongly advise against buying from this seller. As an experienced aquarist, I decided to try ordering fish online for the first time and it was a huge mistake.
I ordered 4 discus and 5 rams, which arrived fairly quickly. However, I immediately noticed that the bags were small and there was not enough water. In comparison, my local fish store provides much larger bags and the fish are only in them for a short period of time. I felt that the shipping process should have included more water to ensure the safety of the fish.
To make matters worse, the sizes of the fish I received did not match the sizes listed on the website. Two of the discus were smaller than what I ordered, while one was larger. I was disappointed, but I did not complain. However, one of the fish (Royal purple) had clamped fins and a smaller tail, which is a clear sign of fin/tail rot. The red dragon was also breathing heavily and unfortunately died within 24 hours.
I immediately contacted the owner through the website's messaging system, as instructed on the website. However, the owner's response was not helpful. He claimed that the fish had contracted a bacterial infection during shipping, which seemed unlikely to me. The 5 rams were also very stressed and small, which made me worried that they would not survive in my tank.
I continued to update the owner with photos and information, but he was unresponsive and unhelpful. He accused me of having dirty water and not properly acclimating the fish, which was not true. I had them in quarantine and was changing the water daily. Eventually, the owner banned me from the website and refused to respond to any further messages.
I was shocked by the owner's behavior and lack of professionalism. He even yelled at me in bold red lettering and called me irrational. It was clear that he was not interested in resolving the issue or helping me in any way. I later discovered that many other customers had similar experiences with sick fish and incorrect sizes, and that the owner often blocks customers who complain.
In conclusion, I strongly advise against buying from SomethingsPhishy. The owner's behavior is unprofessional and the quality of the fish is poor. Do your research and find a reputable seller who cares about the well-being of their fish.
Terrible Experience with SomethingsPhishy: Packed Fish in Small Bags Resulted in Dead Fish and Poor Customer Service
This company, SomethingsPhishy, has a really bad reputation, but my husband and I decided to give them a chance since he had some neutral experiences with them in the past. We ordered 10 fish from them, but when they arrived, we were shocked to see that they were packed in a container so small that we thought they had sent us less fish than we paid for. However, when we opened the Styrofoam container, we found all 10 fish in there, but they were packed so tightly in small bags that they were all dead except for two. At first, we thought that all of them were dead because the two that were barely alive were not moving at all.
The return policy of this company is quite strict, and they ask customers to push a wooden toothpick through the dead fish, take a picture, and send it to them in order to get a refund. When my husband was taking the dead fish out of the bags to push the toothpick through them, we noticed the two that were still alive. We immediately sent an email to the company, explaining that all of the fish were dead, and we were very distraught. A few hours later, we sent a follow-up email with pictures of the dead fish, explaining that two were actually alive. However, instead of being understanding, we received an email accusing us of lying about all of the fish being dead, and we were banned from the website for that lie. They only processed a refund for the fish, not the shipping, which was around $70.
The customer service of this company is terrible, and banning us was just ridiculous since we had already decided not to buy from them again. The way they packed the fish was nothing short of animal abuse, and it was really hard for our children to watch us unpack dead fish after dead fish. We would never order from them again, and we advise others not to waste their money either. It's better to go to a local fish store and do it the old-fashioned way.
It's worth noting that all of the negative comments about this company seem to have been deleted from their website, and they ban people to keep them from leaving negative comments. It's just not worth the risk of dealing with such a company. UPDATE: In their last email, they called me a pathological liar, which is just unbelievable. I can't make this stuff up...
Poor Quality Fish and Terrible Customer Service from SomethingsPhishy
I recently had an experience with SomethingsPhishy and I must say, it was not a pleasant one. When my fish arrived, they looked dead in the bag. I immediately contacted the seller and was told to put a toothpick through the fish. I was hesitant, but I did as I was told. When I took the fish out of the bag, the gills were still moving, but the fish was floating on top of the quarantine tank. I asked for some time to observe the fish, but was told that the guarantee was only for dead on arrival fish, not for fish that were still breathing but upside down.
I let it go until the next morning and was relieved to see that the fish was okay. It probably had an excess of air in the bladder. However, when I tried to place another order, I found that my account had been wiped. When I contacted the seller, I was met with an insulting and rude response. The seller accused me of being dishonest and trying to rip him off. He even went as far as to say that I needed therapy.
The quality of the fish was not great either. The only good discus out of the three I ordered was the blue 2.5" one. The orange mandarin is now dead and the golden yellow does not look good. However, the two $6.95 koi angels with yellow heads, not red, including the upside-down one, are thriving.
I must say that this order was a rip-off. I have ordered from a private breeder on eBay before and paid $25 for priority mail shipping. All the discus were great. I would not recommend buying from SomethingsPhishy. The seller seems to have insecurities and complexes that need to be addressed.
Unpleasant Experience with SomethingsPhishy: High Shipping Prices and Poor Customer Service
I recently had an experience with SomethingsPhishy and I have to say, it was not a pleasant one. The first thing that struck me was the high shipping prices. I had a cart full of fish and products, but when I went to check out, I was shocked at the amount I was being charged for shipping. It was much higher than what I had seen from other companies that sell live fish. I decided to reach out to the seller to inquire about the high shipping charges, but unfortunately, I didn't receive a response.
After waiting for about a week, I decided to send a follow-up email asking why I hadn't received a response to my initial inquiry. I explained that I was planning to spend around $400 on fish, but I needed some questions answered first. To my surprise, the seller responded almost immediately, but the response was not what I was expecting.
The seller told me that they had already responded to my email and attached the response. However, I never received any response from them. The seller then went on to say that they didn't need difficult customers and that they were the largest retailer of Discus in the USA. They then told me to buy my fish elsewhere.
I was taken aback by the seller's response. It was clear that they had no interest in helping me or answering my questions. I thanked them for sending the attached email and let them know that I would be writing a review about my experience with their business.
When I tried to go back to the seller's website, I found that I had been blocked. I couldn't access my shopping cart and received an error message that said I didn't have permission to access the page. It was clear that the seller didn't want me as a customer.
After reading other reviews of this seller and their company, it's clear that I'm not the only one who has had a negative experience. Many others have reported being blocked by the seller after having issues with their products or fish.
In conclusion, I would not recommend SomethingsPhishy to anyone. The high shipping prices and poor customer service are not worth the hassle. Save your money and buy your fish from a more reputable seller.
Avoid Something's Phishy: My Terrible Experience with Keith and His Discus Fish
I recently had an experience with somethingsphishy.com that I feel compelled to share with others. I ordered 4 discus from a man named Keith who seemed friendly and helpful when he was asking for my money. However, after the deal was made, he became a completely different person. Each of the discus I received had something wrong with it.
One of the larger 2-inch golden discus had half of its tail sheared away and was skin and bones by the time it arrived at my doorstep. Another 2-inch blue snakeskin discus was actually just about 1 inch from top to bottom, basically just a fry. The other one-inch discus, a "red scribbled discus," was a bit larger than the snakeskin but had horribly deformed side fins. The only fish that looked great was a 2-inch red leopard discus, but it had small bubbles sticking to it right when I put it in my tank. Within 24 hours, it had a clear case of ich all over its body. Within 48 hours, the fish was dead, and I had my first ich outbreak in over 7 years of this hobby. In the end, 4 discus had perished either from ich or from sensitivity to the medicine.
I sent Keith an email right after I received my fish, telling him that they had arrived and that I was pleased that they had all survived and that I was indeed very happy with my red leopard. Two days later, I was furious and couldn't wrap my head around why Keith would send me diseased, deformed, small fish. I sent him a follow-up email about everything I had just explained, and his response was shocking.
He accused me of having multiple personalities and needing therapy, even though I had never mentioned anything about a missing tail, ich, or the fish being too small in my first email. He then closed my account. It was clear to me that Keith was not in this business because he loved fish; he was in it for the money. There's a reason why his prices are just a bit cheaper than the rest.
I urge everyone reading this to avoid somethingsphishy.com at all costs. Not only did I have a terrible experience, but Keith needs to be put out of business for good. For our sake and for all the fish he has trapped diseased and dying. Please tell your friends and family about my experience and make sure they don't order from this website.

Disappointing Experience with SomethingsPhishy: Dead Fish, Poor Customer Service, and Refusal to Refund Shipping Cost
I recently made my third purchase from SomethingsPhishy and I must say, I was a bit hesitant to do so. My previous two orders had some issues, but I decided to give them another chance. Unfortunately, this time around, my fish arrived 48 hours after being shipped and they were all dead. I immediately contacted the company to inform them of the situation and suggested that I could use dental picks instead of toothpicks to secure the fish. However, they insisted that I follow the instructions as described in the agreement.
To make matters worse, I was accused of being combative when I asked for an explanation. The owner, Keith, even threatened to delete my account once the refund was given. I was not being rude or aggressive in any way, but I was still treated poorly. Eventually, I was refunded the cost of the fish, but not the shipping. To add insult to injury, my account was deleted.
I later found out that SomethingsPhishy could have requested a refund for the shipping cost from UPS, but they didn't. It seems like they just wanted to keep the money for themselves. This was the last straw for me and I will not be doing business with them again.
Overall, my experience with SomethingsPhishy was disappointing and frustrating. I hope they can improve their customer service and take responsibility for their mistakes in the future.
Poor Service and Communication from SomethingsPhishy: Missing and Dead Fish, Unprofessional Behavior
I recently made an order from SomethingsPhishy and I have to say, I was not impressed with the service I received. I ordered 8 discus, but when my package arrived, only 7 were included. When I reached out to the seller to inquire about the missing fish, they tried to tell me that they had sent all 8. However, upon closer inspection of the invoice, I noticed that only 7 had been checked off.
To make matters worse, 2 of the discus were dead on arrival and another was very weak. When I requested a refund, the seller told me that I had placed the fish in a non-sterile environment and that they needed two weeks to regain their immune system. I have been an aquarist for over 40 years and have never heard of such a thing. To prove their point, the seller informed me that the tank water was RO water and had 2 plants and gravel.
The seller then asked me to stick a toothpick through the dead fish to prove that they were actually dead. I complied with this request for one of the fish, but the other was already dead in the bag. I found this request to be inhumane and unnecessary.
After exchanging 5 emails with the seller, I was eventually refunded for the missing fish and half of the cost of the DOA fish. However, I received no compensation for the other two fish that were sickly upon arrival. To top it off, the seller ended their final email by stating that we should not do business in the future and closed my account.
Overall, I was extremely disappointed with the service I received from SomethingsPhishy. The seller needs to work on their professional business skills and learn how to better communicate and work with their customers.
Mixed Feelings About My Purchase from SomethingsPhishy: A Review
I recently made a purchase from SomethingsPhishy and I have mixed feelings about my experience. I ordered a total of 6 Discus and 5 Angel fish, and I opted for next day UPS delivery. However, when my fish arrived at 5:50 p.m., I noticed that the box was wet. Upon opening the box, I was disappointed to find that the fish bags were very small and there was barely any water. The fish were clearly stressed and the water was cloudy and dirty. I was worried about their well-being.
To make matters worse, the Discus that they sent me were between 1 and 2 inches, which was not what I was expecting. Two of the six Discus were eating and having fun, but the other four were hiding and seemed to be struggling. I hope they come out soon and start to acclimate to their new environment. On the bright side, I already have 15 beautiful and healthy Discus between 3 and 5 inches, so I am happy with that.
One thing that really bothered me was their policy regarding dead fish. If your fish arrives dead, you need to take a picture of your fish with a toothpick through them so they can give you credit the same day. I find this policy to be quite disturbing and I will not be buying fish from them again.
On a positive note, when I received my 5 Angel fish, two of them looked dead and were on their side. My husband put them in a small container inside the fish tank and we went to bed. To our surprise, in the morning they were up and swimming! Right now, all 5 Angel fish are doing fine and they are also eating.
Overall, my experience with SomethingsPhishy was a bit of a mixed bag. While I am happy with the healthy Discus that I received, I was disappointed with the condition of the fish upon arrival and their policy regarding dead fish. I may consider buying from them again in the future, but I will definitely be more cautious and do my research beforehand.

Disappointing Experience with SomethingsPhishy: Dead Fish Upon Arrival and No Refund Offered
I recently purchased two Discus fish from SomethingsPhishy, and unfortunately, my experience was not a positive one. The package arrived a day late, around 6:00 PM, during the chilly month of December. When the UPS delivery person arrived, I opened the package before signing for it to ensure that the fish were alive and well. However, to my dismay, both fish were dead upon arrival. The bag containing the fish was extremely cold, leading me to believe that the water was also frigid.
I immediately asked the delivery person for advice on what to do next, as I did not order dead fish. They suggested that I refuse the shipment, which I agreed to do. Afterward, I reached out to SomethingsPhishy's customer service team for assistance. However, I was informed that since I refused the delivery, I could not receive a refund or any other form of compensation. According to them, their guarantee stated that I needed to sign for the package, but upon re-reading it, I found no such requirement. The guarantee only stated that I needed to open the package immediately and attempt to acclimate the fish. However, since the fish were already dead, acclimating them would have been futile.
I was disappointed with my experience, especially since I have ordered from SomethingsPhishy before, and this was by far the worst experience I have had with them. I did not notice any movement in the gills of the fish, and I was left feeling frustrated and dissatisfied with the entire situation.
Avoid Somethingsphishy.com: Dishonest and Unprofessional Business Practices
I recently made a purchase from somethingsphishy.com, ordering 9 discus in November. Unfortunately, upon arrival, the fish were barely alive due to the temperature being at a chilly 62 degrees. Despite my best efforts, I lost 3 of them the very next day. However, I decided to give them another chance and ordered 5 more, thinking that the previous 3 were just stressed from shipping.
When my order arrived, I was pleased to see that it was packaged well. However, upon closer inspection, I noticed that 4 of the fish were supposed to be 2 inches or more, with one being a 3-4 inch royal purple. To my dismay, one of the fish I received was barely an inch in size, and the 4-inch fish had eyes that were 2-3 times larger than they should be, with bulging eyes.
I immediately contacted their customer service with my issue and provided pictures as evidence. The owner, Keith, messaged me back stating that there was nothing wrong with the fish. I sent more pictures with a better angle, but he then told me that the fish I was sending him pictures of was not even the correct fish I was supposed to receive. He then proceeded to tell me that he can choose who to sell to and that he was closing my account, refusing to reply to me again.
I was left in shock that they were so prideful that they couldn't admit to making a mistake and so cowardly that they canceled my account. It's truly disappointing to see a business operate in such a dishonest and unprofessional manner. I strongly advise against doing business with this crook and urge others to avoid making the same mistake I did.
Terrible Customer Service and Sick Fish: My Experience with SomethingsPhishy
My first shipment from SomethingsPhishy over a year ago was fantastic. However, my recent shipment was a complete disaster. The fish were severely underfed and had bad fins. To make matters worse, the shipment was delayed by a day, and four of the fish were on the brink of death. I immediately sent an email to the seller to express my dissatisfaction, but instead of addressing my concerns, he acted like a child.
He informed me that he would refund the dead on arrival fish, but he refused to ship sick fish. He even went as far as to remove my account, telling me to get my discus elsewhere. I sent him pictures of the fish I received, hoping to get a response, but he only talked down to me and treated me like a dog. He claimed that I did not read his instructions on how to acclimate the fish, but I assured him that I followed the instructions to the letter. Unfortunately, I did not have a quarantine tank, which he used as an excuse to belittle me and tell me that I did not know what I was talking about.
As someone who has been in the fish retail industry and a veterinary technician for over a decade, I found his behavior appalling. Just because I do not do things the way he does does not mean I am stupid. It is clear that he thinks he is God's gift to the world and treats his customers like garbage. I would not recommend shopping at SomethingsPhishy. The fish are undersized, underfed, and the seller is not fit to deal with customer service.
Poor Customer Service and Quality: My Experience with SomethingsPhishy
I recently bought 6 discus from SomethingsPhishy and unfortunately, 3 of them died. I was only refunded for 1 of them even though I sent pictures to prove it. I had a bit of a misunderstanding with the owner during our email communication. He was extremely rude and overall very nasty in his responses. I even tried to visit their store in Miami, but they wouldn't let me in.
I also tried to purchase some discus for a friend who couldn't afford them from other local stores, but I received an email saying that I had been banned from purchasing from them. It's not fair for other people to have to deal with this kind of attitude from a business owner who banned a customer forever over an email misunderstanding on his behalf.
If you're looking for good quality discus for just a little bit more money but with really great customer service, I recommend Watley Discus located in Miami. Their shipping is also a lot lower than SomethingsPhishy. I promise you won't be disappointed.
In my experience, SomethingsPhishy does not deserve your business. I own around 85 discus and have purchased from several different places, but I have never felt this way about any of them. It's a shame that a business owner can treat their customers so poorly.
Warning: Stay Away from SomethingsPhishy - Diseased Fish and Unprofessional Customer Service
My experience with SomethingsPhishy was not a good one. The fish I received were clearly very sick, some even looking "fuzzy" due to their poor condition. The company ships their fish in colored bags, which is a clever tactic to hide the true state of the fish until they are released into your tank. When I reached out to them to let them know about the issue, I simply suggested that they use clear bags so that customers can see the condition of the fish before acclimating them. However, they responded in a defensive and unprofessional manner, telling me that my "lecture" was unnecessary and closing my account.
In the end, their decision to close my account was actually a blessing in disguise because adding their diseased fish to my tank would have cost me hundreds of dollars. The fish they sell are on sale for a reason - they are disease-infested, thin, and sickly. I received my fish less than 14 hours after they were shipped, and there is no way that the ICH (a common fish disease) wasn't visible when they were sent. However, because they were disguised in colored bags, I couldn't see the true state of the fish until it was too late.
I strongly advise against buying from this company unless you want to risk killing off your entire tank. It's like flushing money down the toilet - you'll get the same outcome. This was by far the worst internet purchase I have ever made. I have pictures and videos to prove the poor condition of the fish I received, and I hope that others will take my warning seriously before making the same mistake I did.
Mixed Feelings: Great Fish Selection, Poor Customer Service & Shipping Policies
I recently had an experience with SomethingsPhishy and I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, I was really impressed with the variety of fish available on their site. They had some really unique and beautiful species that I hadn't seen anywhere else. However, I did have an issue with the shipping that left a bad taste in my mouth.
When I placed my order, I didn't realize that all fish had to be shipped via Next Day delivery. I only ordered $48 worth of fish, but the shipping cost was over $70! I was pretty upset about this, so I immediately contacted the company via email to see if there was anything they could do to help me change the shipping method. I explained that I really wanted the fish, but if they couldn't help me, I would have to cancel the order and shop elsewhere.
Unfortunately, the response I got from SomethingsPhishy was not very helpful. They told me that they couldn't change the shipping method and that they would cancel my order. They also banned me from the site, which I thought was pretty extreme. I couldn't even go back to see my order history or where they say shipping is printed. To make matters worse, they sent a very nasty email in return.
I understand that the company has policies in place for a reason, but I feel like they could have been more understanding of my situation. I wasn't trying to be difficult or make threats, I just wanted to see if there was anything they could do to help me. In the end, I did end up shopping elsewhere for my fish.
Overall, I would say that SomethingsPhishy has some great products, but their customer service could use some work. If you're thinking about ordering from them, just be aware of their shipping policies and make sure you're okay with the cost before placing your order.
Terrible Customer Service and Sick Fish: A Warning About SomethingsPhishy
Me and my hubby have been spending a lot of cash on SomethingsPhishy website lately, almost $1,000 in the last month alone. Our first shipment was alright, one fish was a bit stressed but we kinda expected that. However, the second shipment was not so good. We got 3 discus that were not acting right, they wouldn't eat and were always black. We thought maybe they were just stressed like the first shipment, so we gave them a few days to acclimate, but no luck. My hubby then decided to give them a salt bath and put them in a medical tank with general cure parasite medication. But then, our other discus in the 90-gallon tank started to act sick too. We had to treat that tank as well, as the 3 fish were indeed sick and infected a few of our others. Thankfully, we managed to save them all. However, when my hubby informed the owner of SomethingsPhishy about this, he was told that if he didn't want sick fish, he should purchase discus elsewhere. I have never seen such terrible customer service before. My hubby wasn't even complaining, he was actually trying to buy more fish and just asked when the leopards would be back in stock. That's when the owner told him that they were sick and being treated. My hubby then informed the owner about the sick fish we received 2 weeks ago. Again, he was told that if he didn't want sick fish, he should purchase elsewhere. And to top it off, the owner closed my hubby's account so he couldn't order anything. What a shame! Don't waste your time or money on SomethingsPhishy. Karma will come back around.
