I ordered and PAID with a gift card (not Sonics) but when my order was brought I was told they just needed to see my card and no additional charges would be made (dumb i know). When I checked my card the next day i saw two charges from Sonics... my original and another LARGER price. I called corporate and filed a report and told someone would follow up with me. That was LAST MONTH! I called back after about a week and my contact info was confirmed and I was told they were sorry and someone would get back with me. Didn't happen.

I called back the FOLLOWING week again! Same thing... confirm my contact info and said sorry someone would get back with me. I told them I would be filing with the BBB and would contact the local one myself to see if it would help expedite things. The manager wanted to know if I had the copies of the two original receipts. I told him no I didn't keep my first receipt and if I had received a second receipt I would have resolved it then. I told him I could provide a copy of my statement showing the two DIFFERENT charges on the same day and location, etc. I took time out of my day and drove over there to turn it in and was told he would match my statement to the customer receipts from that day and would get back with me. Again didn't happen.

Contacted the local Sonic drive in where the overcharging took place today and spoke to the manager again. He stated they had no RECORD of the two charges being made on that date. I interpreted that to mean I was being called a LIAR. He said he called Treasury and that he would let me know what they found out. I then proceeded to call Corporate again and tell them I wanted this resolved by this Wednesday seeing as it had been a MONTH already and nothing has been resolved!

If it a $1 or 2 I wouldn't make a big deal about it. But it wasn’t! Plus the treatment I have received since then have just made me more upset over this whole issue which is why I want it resolved along with an APOLOGY at this point.

Thanks!

A single ticket number can only be paid for ONCE in the Sonic computer system.

Maybe you were rang up under a different ticket number as well?

A single ticket CAN be paid for twice because mine was!
And I called and told them so. They took the information and said they would clear it up and call me back (assist manager). They didn't clear it up. They didn't call me back.
Two days later I called the manager WILLIAM! He told me that 'THE COMPUTER MUST BE HAVING A PROBLEM" and "THEY'VE BEEN REALLY BUSY"! then "I'LL GET IT TAKEN CARE OF TOMORROW...THANK YOU FOR CALLING..." HE DIDN'T EVEN ASK MY NAME! PROOF POSITIVE THAT HE WASN'T GOING TO DO A DARNED THING ABOUT IT! OH WELL, GOT YOUR MONEY -TWICE- SEE YA LATER!
I tried to find a contact number online... when I called it (after getting a message 8 times) a very nice lady took my complaint, read it back to me, and left me with a feeling that they just don't give a damn!
STERLING RESIDENTS! PLEASE CHECK YOUR CREDIT/DEBIT CARDS CAREFULLY. APPARENTLY THERE IS A COMPUTER ERROR THAT ALLOWS THEM TO CHARGE YOU TWICE FOR YOUR ORDER. AND THEY DON'T CARE! PROBABLY CONSIDER IT A TIP!

STERLING SONIC DRIVE IN ON CHESTNUT IS A RIPOFF! THEIR STAFF IS INCOMPETENT! THEY ARE RUDE AND WILL NOT GET MY BUSINESS ANY MORE!

EWW PERSON ON TOP OF ME, CALM DOWN! I WORK FOR SONIC & IT'S TOTALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO PAY FOR YOUR ORDER TWICE. BUT IT'S POSSIBLE THAT THEY PAID FOR TWO ORDERS WITH UR CARD. GET OVER IT, SERIOUSLY.

File a police report regarding this criminal behavior. I was in the industry for years and situations like this are rarely innocent mistakes. It's probable the second customer paid cash, your card was charged for the order, and the cash was pocketed. Go to the police. You may not get your money back, but you'll get someone's attention.

Well I can top that one...I went to Sonic today and went through the drive thru and ordered a $7 order, drink, cheddar peppers, and a burger. I handed the girl at the drive thru my debit card, and she gave me the drink. It was sweetened iced tea, I wanted plain, so I waited like 3 minutes for them to come back to the window and asked them to give me regular tea, I totally forgot she still had my debit card. About 2 minutes later I was handed my new drink and food and I drove off to work. At work I get a phone call from my bank reporting possible fraudulent activity on my account. I panic, open my wallet, and no debit card...damn crafty little punk at the drive thru! I log into my bank account and within an hour of getting my crappy meal that they also got wrong (no cheese on my CHEESEburger), there were 7 transactions at liquor stores, gas stations, grocery stores. I called Sonic's customer service, the store manager, and filed a police report. I hope she gets what's coming to her and I'm not through until I here that she or someone was fired. So, before you think about using someones debit card that you forgot or meant to not give back to them, remember there are people like me out there that are going to make your life hell in anyway they can.

It is impossible for one ticket number to be paid for twice when you use a card.
What most likely happened was that the receipt for when you paid for it the first time (before you gave the carhop asked for your card) got lost (this can happen when it gets busy and the machine is printing 10 receipts at a time). Then the carhop wanted to scan the card again just to make sure it went through, knowing that it wouldn't charge you twice if it had gone through. The carhop probably typed in the wrong ticket number, and you got charged for someone else. Though it is hard to prove that you didn't just place two orders that day. So I don't know how you will get your money back. Though, most orders at sonic don't cost over $10 so I don't see why it is such a big deal.

Okay, Sonic is still ripping people off. I show multiple debits from my bank account for the same day /visit at Sonic. We need to file a class action lawsuit
