Southern Oak Insurance Company Southern Oak Insurance Company is a total joke

Southern Oak Insurance Company is a total joke. They've been takin' my hard-earned cash for years without havin' to pay out a single claim. And just when ya think they might actually come through for ya, they go ahead and cancel your policy. Can ya believe it? It's like they're playin' some kinda sick game with your money.

I mean, seriously, what kinda company does that? They lure ya in with their fancy promises and low rates, but when it comes time for 'em to hold up their end of the bargain, they bail on ya faster than a cheetah on roller skates. It's downright infuriatin'.

And don't even get me started on their customer service. It's like talkin' to a brick wall. They don't give a hoot about your concerns or problems. All they care about is collectin' your money and leavin' ya high and dry when ya actually need 'em.

Save yourself the headache and stay far, far away from Southern Oak Insurance Company. They're nothin' but a bunch of money-grabbin' scammers who don't give a darn about their customers. Trust me, you'll be better off takin' your business elsewhere.

Southern Oak Insurance Company Southern Oak Insurance Company is a bunch of nonsense

Southern Oak Insurance Company is a bunch of nonsense. They have this ridiculous habit of sending cease and desist letters to small businesses, even ones that aren't their competitors, all because of their so-called "trademark" on the phrase "our family protecting yours." Seriously, who in the world can trademark such a common expression? Are they suggesting that only one family can protect all the families out there? It's a load of rubbish, if you ask me. Their bullying tactics, their messed up priorities, and their whole company, it's all a load of rubbish.

Southern Oak Insurance Company We had a claim 'cause of a tornado wrecking our backyard

We had a claim 'cause of a tornado wrecking our backyard. They gave us some cash to fix or take down our porch roof, and do a lil' repair on our roof. We did all that work. Then, more than a year later, they sent us a notice sayin' they won't renew our policy 'cause they expected us to get a brand new roof with the money they gave us, and also remove the porch. So, we did just that, but they still didn't renew us. This company is awful, they just didn't renew. I reckon I should sue 'em 'cause I did everythin' they asked.

Southern Oak Insurance Company Southern Oak Insurance cancelled our house insurance without telling us

Southern Oak Insurance cancelled our house insurance without telling us. When we asked our agent, they said it got cancelled 'cause of rusty pipes and no drip pan under the water heater. They're totally off base about the house problems. Just 6 weeks before the cancellation, we had a four point inspection done, and it said there were no issues. Plus, the pictures in the report back that up. Our agent tried to get Southern Oak Insurance to change their mind, but they said no, even though there's tons of proof that they messed up.

Southern Oak Insurance Company Very disappointed

Very disappointed. Been a Southern Oak customer since we moved to Florida almost 4 years ago. Always paid our premiums on time. No claims in almost 4 years. We just recently had a claim processed for our roof, which I acknowledge Southern Oak did take care of in a timely and courteous manner but have now notified us that they are not renewing our policy in order to eliminate risk. You would think that we would be less of a risk because our roof was just replaced and would be more likely to withstand storm/hurricane damage. You are a Florida insurance company and we are in central Florida. Don't sell insurance in Florida and not expect to have claims due to storm/hurricane damage.

Southern Oak Insurance Company These guys took all our money for [protected]

These guys took all our money for [protected]. Then, like two months later, they sent us a notice saying they're canceling our policy until we update our old 1957 home's electrical panel. It was updated in the 80s to a 125 amp breaker box, but they're saying it needs to be 150 amps because they won't insure anything less. They took our money, and isn't it funny that the NWS came out and said there'll be more hurricanes than usual this summer? Seems like they're just trying to protect themselves and avoid any risks. This company is a real pain, and I doubt you'll ever get anything from them except a bad smell. The customer service is the worst I've ever dealt with, and that's saying something, even though they knew the conversation was being recorded. Stay away from this company, seriously.

Southern Oak Insurance Company Southern Oak is the worst Insurance company I've ever known!

Southern Oak is the worst Insurance company I've ever known! I've been with them for 2 years since I bought my house, and they cleared the roof when I bought it. This year, I noticed some tiles on the ground and had a roofing inspection done. They clearly said I had wind damage. Southern Oak sent an adjuster who agreed, but then they hired an Engineer who they must pay cash out of pocket to come and say the damage wasn't from the wind and denied my claim. No one has been on the roof since I bought the house, and it's clearly damaged from the pictures. Most likely, there's even more damage now because of their own adjuster and cash engineer. I'll probably have to take legal action against them to resolve this. I highly recommend looking elsewhere if you're considering being with this company!

Southern Oak Insurance Company I wrote a letter to Southern Oak and our insurance agent in Milton, Florida on April 13th, but we never got a response from either of them

I wrote a letter to Southern Oak and our insurance agent in Milton, Florida on April 13th, but we never got a response from either of them. They sent us a Notice of Nonrenewal on February 16, saying they won't renew our Homeowners Insurance Policy because our roof is too old. The policy ends on 6/20 at 12:01 A.M. Eastern Time. We talked to our agent, and all they said was that "Southern Oak doesn't renew policies with roofs older than thirteen years." Our GAF Timberline 30 Architectural Shingle roof was installed on July 26, and it has a 30-year warranty from the manufacturer. So, it's been 13 years since we got the roof. We had the original contractor who installed the roof come and check it. They gave us a letter on March 3, saying the roof is in good condition and doesn't leak. We also had a 4-Point Inspection done by One Source Home Inspector on April 16th, and they said the roof is in good shape too. Just to let you know: 1. We've been insured with Southern Oak since 2008 and paid $36,630 in premiums over the years. 2. We've never made a claim. We want Southern Oak to explain how it's legal and ethical for them to cancel our policy. We're reaching out to you first, hoping for a response. It would be much appreciated.

Southern Oak Insurance Company I had water damage in my condo unit because of a mishap during the sprinkler system inspection

I had water damage in my condo unit because of a mishap during the sprinkler system inspection. It caused significant damage, and my personal belongings were covered with heavy-duty plastic. Several months later, another water damage incident occurred, resulting in additional damage to my personal property, including major items that were still under the plastic. When I reached out to the company, they seemed hesitant to help. Eventually, I started working with another adjuster, but due to COVID-19 restrictions and my fear of having others in my place, the process became more challenging. Instead of offering me the proper amount, they wanted me to settle for a mere $20K, which is way below the actual value of what I lost. To make matters worse, the insurance company decided to drop my coverage because I had two insurance claims within two years, even though it wasn't my fault and beyond my control.

Southern Oak Insurance Company I called Southern Oak Insurance in May 2022 for a homeowners quote

I called Southern Oak Insurance in May 2022 for a homeowners quote. I asked for the quote to start on 7/1/2022. I didn't get a full policy from the underwriters until late June 2022. When I saw the coverage, I told the agent, ***, that we weren't interested because it wasn't enough. I thanked him for the quote, but said we would stick with our current provider. I never signed or approved the policy with Southern Oak Insurance. *** told me I had to sign a cancellation form with them, so I did. I went on vacation in late June and just got back to find out that Southern Oak Insurance is now listed on my mortgage account as my new insurance company. They want payment from my escrow account, along with my current insurance company. I think this is fraud and I want the money put back in my account and for them to be taken off my mortgage. They're asking for $1767.12 for the year from ***. I think anything over $1000.00 is stealing. I'm not sure if they can be charged, but if you think we should take legal action, please tell me. *** acc# *** Southern Oak Insurance acc# *** Once again, I asked for a quote to start on 7/1/2022, and I never said yes or signed anything. Please contact me if you need more information at: *** Thank you for your time.

About two years ago, me and my husband bought our dream home where we are currently stationed (where we plan to stay when complete with our military duties) and we have dutifully paid our premiums to SOI (which have doubled). We have had multiple claims with auto insurance (USAA) over the years and have always had all of our questions and concerns answered/met to our satisfaction. We’ve never had to contact our home owners insurance before over a span of 5 years, two homes in two states, but we had two unfortunate incidents in the past two months since bringing home our newborn. First, one of the bathrooms leaked causing a minor flood into our new nursery. Parts of the carpet were soaked but the wall seemed to be ok. SOI sent a water reclamation team and an adjuster. That happened 7 weeks ago. I sent the last of the documents they requested 2 weeks ago.. I’ve heard nothing from them, not even that our claim was denied. Second and in the meantime, a tornado hit our neighborhood 1 month ago and we had shingles stripped down to the wood of the roof and two small trees uprooted. Many of our neighbors have worse damage so we are quite blessed things turned out as they did. SOI sent a team with tarps, but given the continued wind and storms the past couple weeks, we’ve already had to have them replaced once and might need it again soon. Adjuster was out on 1 week after the tornado. My husband has called and left multiple messages and I haven’t received a response to my emails in almost two weeks. Our house needs a new roof before hurricane season starts in about a month but I have heard nothing from Southern Oak about our claim. I’m disappointed in SOI’s lack of communication (standardized emails with directions or that “your claim is pending” would be better than radio silence) and their slowness in fulfilling an obvious claim from tornado damage. Also, their online portal is useless- there’s nowhere to upload pictures or engage in active coms- it should be deleted.
