Thank you for all you do
Thank you for all you do. *** did an amazing job. I am so happy with the service I got from Southpoint Financial Services, Inc. They were super helpful and made the whole process easy peasy. I had some questions about my mortgage and they were able to answer them all without any problems. The staff was friendly and professional, and they really knew their stuff. I felt like they genuinely cared about helping me and getting me the best deal possible. I would definitely recommend Southpoint Financial Services, Inc. to anyone in need of financial assistance. They are the real deal!
I got a letter from this company that made me think I have a mortgage with them
I got a letter from this company that made me think I have a mortgage with them. It's a complete scam. I have a mortgage with a good business. This "notification" makes it seem like I owe them money. It's really not right.
They was not transparent at all when I worked with them on purchasing a home, tried to convince me on multiple occasions to purchase a more
They was not transparent at all when I worked with them on purchasing a home, tried to convince me on multiple occasions to purchase a more expensive home. After the closing, they ignored my repeated questions regarding the set up of my mortgage & escrow for over two weeks. Maybe this review will light a fire under them to respond and conduct business appropriately.
Southpoint Financial Services, Inc
Southpoint Financial Services, Inc. really helped me out when I needed a loan for my first house. We started the whole thing a few months ago, sorting out my money situation and getting pre-qualified. I gotta say, *** was always quick to respond. I even sent her an email after everything was done, thinking she'd get to it in the morning, but she replied right away. She was super attentive and even stayed late the night before my closing to take care of something. I feel pretty fortunate that I went with SPF for my mortgage.
I applied for a Refinance Mortgage Loan and got approved
I applied for a Refinance Mortgage Loan and got approved. The company kept asking for the same info again and again like they forgot what I already gave them. They also kept bugging me to confirm my job, even though HR already confirmed it. They didn't trust my income and credit score. They even bothered me about my divorce from 9 years ago, which had nothing to do with refinancing. They took forever to lock the rates, so they went up by the time they did. It was a terrible experience and they should give me the rate I originally asked for. I don't think this had anything to do with ***, but the people behind the scenes were trying everything to give me a bad rate. I want my money back for the Appraisal and a lower rate. I should have gone with another lender. I interviewed 3 lenders and *** was nice and knew their stuff. I made a big mistake choosing SouthPoint. I'm only giving them a 2 because ***.
Working with certain colleagues and a company was a complete nightmare
Working with certain colleagues was a complete nightmare. She epitomized unprofessionalism, failing to communicate. Despite requesting pertinent information, she ignored calls and texts upon receiving it. Discovering her background online clarified her business approach. I nearly abandoned the company when another colleague contacted me, masquerading as a leader but sharing her unprofessional traits, albeit more communicative. His actions were misleading and calculated. Ultimately, the company rejected my loan post-inspection and appraisal payments. The in-house process should have precluded communication issues with clients. These colleagues misled my realtor and me about my work history, which was later cited as the loan refusal reason. I contacted the CEO, hoping for understanding and client support as per her company statement. However, she ceased communication when I requested fee reimbursement and documentation. The CEO's behavior suggests a broader company culture issue.
I was refered to Southpoint Financial because of their ability to close in 15 days
I was refered to Southpoint Financial because of their ability to close in 15 days. That was impressive initially, so I went with them for a competitive advantage. However, their process is very unorthodox. There isn't an introduction of the process to the buyer at all. I at least wanted to know who would be handling what after being pre-approved. I should have been advised on my loan options, monthly payment estimates, property taxes but none of that was done. Once I was under contract, the lack of business acumen and unprofessionalism really revealed itself.
I was instructed to send Personal Identifiable Information (PII) unsecure and copy people I did not know. Just like the review above I rarely received phone calls at appropriate hours. Mainly late nights and weekends briefly requesting for documents to be signed (not dated), scanned, and returned immediately. Those calls will sometimes have others talking, kids, ordering food, screaming "Tell them I'm on the phone with a client." I received an urgent email with my name spelled wrong by the processor one week from closing, we've been working together for four months at this point. I had to remind the admins and processors often I have already sent the requested items to them. THEY DID NOT COMMUNICATE INTERNALLY AT ALL! You will repeat yourself a lot.
The week of closing I mentioned that the level of service received was concerning so I refused to sign any further documents without someone advising me on what was happening. The loan officer called with a very condescending approach. She stated "You have a business degree, don't you? So, you know what an estimate is." She explained who the processor and administrators were. Her customers that normally come to them do not need handholding, so she apologized that I felt that way.
I did not think asking for a call for questions five days before closing was considered handholding. I also found several errors in the documents that needed to be corrected and was met with an attitude. (hung up without saying bye) Not concerned with you as a person at all, she acts as if she's doing me a favor the entire process.
There are other options out there if you are a first-time homebuyer, please go somewhere else. The entire SPF team does not pay attention to detail.
For example, the processor called me while on hold with my insurance company verifying my homeowner's insurance. I asked what exactly are you looking for, needless to say I pointed it out on the second page of the document...that I already sent to him. His response was "Oh thanks, it's normally on the first page but the level of service I received from your insurance company is unspeakable." I laughed I was thinking the same thing about SPF!
My experience was terrible I would get late night phone calls with a random male commenting in the background about my loan I had no idea who he was, but he knew my information enough to make detailed comments on my earnings. If you have any standards or level of expectation this company is not for you. I have gotten a call on Sunday afternoon on my birthday requesting items I've already sent several times. The worst part was the day of closing she "miscalculated" and literally texted me bring your checkbook there were some funds that were not disclosed. Truth is they did not pay attention and the amount owed was way more then the amount the SPF representative said which required a wire transfer or cashier's check!
Thankfully, I was able to make the purchase despite SPF incompetence. It's not what you do it's how you do it that's important to me. My Loan Officer/Regional Manager/ Representative (never knew her title) tried to be friendly but there was zero ownership for their mistakes. I have friends, I needed a professional during this mortgage process. Southpoint Financial could care less if the customer were inconvenienced or in-between homes due to their errors. I was just another transaction out of the other 23+ they processed that month. In fact, there was blame placed on everyone else (The Association, Seller's Agent, My Realtor) but SPF. So, this is not a review this is WARNING. They are not customer centered. The most valuable information I received was from taking the framework homeowner course online. It was more helpful than having an experienced as SPF Advisor (Which I was told I did not have to take but I wanted to so I did anyway because homeownership education is required - another questionable integrity move).
Please vet all referrals if I would have seen SPF response to the previous reviewer Lana review before going under contract, I would have never stayed with them. Very unprofessional response and not surprising. I hope this helps someone in the future... You have too many options to accept this treatment! Learn from my experience.
EVERYTIME YOU WANT TO yOU HAVE TO CALL these guys anytime you want to make an online purchase to let them know you about a purchase with an online vendor so they can allow the purchase to go thru. SAY WHAT? You gotta b kidding me.
