SouthTree Legacybox video transfer

I sent in my irreplaceable tapes and vids over 4 months ago. They never communicate or respond to emails or voicemails. If you choose the callback option they never call you back. It says 10-12 weeks on the worst case to transfer and return materials. They only responded when I contacted the BBB and offering me rush priority service after almost 4 months with no contact whatsoever except daily marketing emails. They made excuses about being short staffed. When the DVDs and USB stick arrived half the videos these incompetents sent back were blank and many videos like my wedding video I know is good were missing. Many videos are recorded in quick scan mode with nothing but snow and static. You can see how the operator is holding the wheel. No quality control was done. No pre inspection of the tapes was done and of course they charged me 100s of dollars for blank videos. I am reporting fraud with Amex and demanding a refund. You would have to be insane to send these people your legacy irreplaceable family treasures and videos. Go to a local place you can get them back at least. This is a factory making McDonalds quality transfers that take forever and then the work is rushed. I would like to see this company shut down.

SouthTree Digital media conversion

Don't send them your originals if you don't want to lose them.

I sent them my original cassettes (2) of my grandparents who have passed away. They did a terrible job of converting them. I could barely hear the voices. When I contacted them back, they asked me to send those back so that they could rework it. I did.

I received a notice on Dec. 21st, 2022 confirming that they had received the return.

Then I received another notice on Dec. 27th, 2022 to let me know that they were finished working on them. It said nothing about when it will be coming back to me.

Since then I have contacted them multiple times, via emails and phone. However there has been no response. The website doesn't offer a way to contact them. They are not replying to the multiple emails I have sent. And they don't answer the phone. They just keep playing music. It has been playing for past 30 minutes!

Do not send them your beloved media that you don't want to part with. You may never get them back.

Here's the email from Dec. 21st, 2022:

Your return has been received here at Southtree and assigned to a lead technician. Our lead technician will review your order and make the requested corrections!

We wanted to give you a heads up that one or more of your items had some pre-existing quality issues that arose in conversion. We still converted it, doing everything we could to ensure the highest possible quality transfer. However, given your media's original quality, the transfer isn't great and doesn't meet our normal quality standard. We've found that our customers still want the digital transfer and prefer we capture the footage, even if it's poor quality.

Desired outcome: Original media returned in condition it was sent in. Probably won't be getting the converted audio.

SouthTree Order 1423574

If I can give 0 stars, I would! Why only 2 out of 7 tapes I paid for were digitized? There is no indication at all that the other 5 tapes are in the usb nor attempted to be digitized? You sent an email you had difficulty with the tapes but 2 out 7? Is this a joke? I paid more than the promo price you have and this is all I get?

SouthTree they lost my vhs tape

I would never complain if they did their job properly. They don't even try.
And this treatment deserves a bad review. I am sorry.
They have lost my VHS tape and never found it. I tried to figure out what they were going to do next, but everything was useless.
I paid for the service, I didn't get it. moreover, I even suffered from their actions.
Of course, it wasn't done on purpose, but they lost my tape that was dear to me... :(

SouthTree I hate them!!

Please beware and no matter what don't use Southtree! I sent them my VHS tapes with memories from my childhood. And not only I did not receive my order but they also broke my tapes!
My order was lost, Southtree claimed that they shipped it via FedEx but they did not give me a tracking number and I know that FedEx has a good tracking system. And when I received my VHS tapes they were broken! These were the only copies I had and because of Southtree I lost all my precious memories. I still can't believe that happened, and no words can describe how angry, disappointed and upset I was when I saw my tapes. I contacted Southtree and told them everything what was on my mind and I hope that one day their nasty business will be shut down! Don't trust them, because these people don't care!

SouthTree Legacybox

I purchased a Starter Legacybox and shipped 25 film negatives, a micro cassette and a videotape together in the labeled box the company provided me on July 2015. This company lost all my film negatives and micro cassette upon arrival and still has not located my property. They have done very little to try and locate my irreplaceable items. They never return phone calls; any contact has always been initiated by me. When I first contacted Southtree about this problem the customer service manager even implied that I might not have shipped the items. They have an excuse for everything and do not take responsibility for their negligence in handling my valuables. Essentially, they tell you it's a process and they have to wait to see if my items will show up. I never get the impression they are actively looking for my things. The one item I did receive back was shipped back to me in a box with another customer's order number(Safe label system they touted would prevent loss). When I asked if they were contacting other customers that may have received my items in error I was told that could not be done. This company has only given me a partial refund and only after several phone calls. This company has been indifferent at best and does not care they lost my irreplaceable memories.

If you send Super-8 films with sound, Legacybox will not duplicate the audio. The product you get back will be silent. They don't mention this in their promotional material or when you ship the films to them. It is mentioned several levels down on their webpage. Most people would assume that if they send in sound film, they will get sound in return.

SouthTree Bad quality of photos

I sent 100 photos for the printing to the website www.southtree.com. I provided my personal info and card number. I received the confirmation info that they already took money and promised to deliver photos within 7 days. I got the photos yesterday, but the quality was awful and I simply wasted money. Of course, they refused to return money. I just want to warn other people about this company.

SouthTree Seller took cassettes and money and stopped to communicate with me

I submitted two cassettes of family videos to the company www.southtree.com. I paid them money and the rep promised to convert my old cassettes to the DVD. I got the confirmation info, but after that I haven’t heard from this ###. No info, no delivery, the rep ignores me and I have no idea what measures to take now. I wonder if there are other people, who had the same experience. Can you provide any good piece of advice?

SouthTree I have never got product.

I placed an order for meds with SouthTree.com for $37.99 and got an email stating they received my order and money was deducted from my bank account and then I have never got product.

I also have been duped by Southtree. I sent in 16 tapes including my wedding video and the video of the birthdays and first christmas of my kids.It has been over 5 months and the last I heard Southtree couldn't locate my videos, but they were working on it. That was over a month ago. I have emailed you directly Erin Hale and you have not responded to my emails. my order number is 39042. I won't hold my breath!

We've had a lot of competitors leaving false reviews over the internet. However, if both of you have an order number I'd be glad to have one of our customer service agents help you. We guarantee all of work and will go to great lengths to make sure you're totally happy with your order. Although those complaints only account for less than half of one percent of the thousands of orders we ship each month, we address each one individually and resolve them. We're always working to improve.

I sent Southtree 6 tapes. They emailed me on December 28, 2012 stating they had received them and were processing my order. I have not heard from them since. I emailed them and received a cookie-cutter template response. My concern is not so much the money, but the memories on those tapes are irreplacable. I SO regret EVER doing any business with the Southtree outfit.

It looks like you are not the only one my friend. They have 35 Better Business Bureau complaints and a dozen or so Yelp complaints with one star ratings. You should contact your credit card company to reverse the charge.
