home owners ins
I contacted Agent Jason Jones< about auto and home owners Ins. Who then intern, state that he would come to my home to talk with me about the Ins, Mr. Jones made an appointment with me and set a date and time. I then told Mr. Jones that my home needed a roof, he said he would look at it when he came out. Mr. Jones came to my home look at the property an stated that once I get the roof and front steps repaired he could Insure my home. I called Mr. Jones when I had the roof and the steps finish, he came and look at it and said we can Insure your home now. I the waited about a week to go into the office to take care of the Ins. He never stated that my garage had to be painted. The first problem came when they sent a cancellation notice for my auto, saying if I did not pay 141.00 that my auto Ins, would be cancelled. Now mind you I paid the first two months when I went into the office by credit card, the lady claim it came back IS-Funds, who treated me like it was my problem. affair that matter was cleared up. I paid 869.00 for home owner Ins for a year. now they are saying because my garage is not painted my home owner Ins would be cancelled I live in Michigan the temp now 50% in the day and 40 % and below at night there is no way paint will stick to any kind of wood at these temperature. This in is what they call ( like a good neighbor state farm is there) I don't think so.
terrible customer service
Awful Service, Never, Never go to Brian Levitt. If you ever try to resolve anything with a Brian Levitt Agency, you will never be able to. Those ### are rude, they put you on hold forever, they will tell you that they are going to call you back but they never do. I had couple of insurance policy with them but I had to transfer to different agency. I know...

Car stolen, reported. Recovered, Insurance sent it to repair shop.It has sat there over a month while they investigate. Have asked me if I know about insurance fraud, trying to say my husband vandalized the car himself. been with this company over ten years, First time I have a car stolen, they given me, one recordered interview over another. Pulled up every thing about our lives.Over broken windows and couple tires. I have always had more then one insured car with them, brought in family members for their insurance.I am now paying over 500 every six months and 300 payment on this car they leave sit for over a month and this is without having work done to it.
People aren't investigated without reason...we're not getting the whole story here.

I would like to let others know about my experience with Jared Swank's State Farm Insurance in Olmsted Falls. Shortly after I purchased my home in Berea (2006), a neighbor named Gary ran from across the street over to my house. Gary is an employee of Jared Swank's office. During a conversation, Gary said to me 'When you first moved in, I scanned your name...

My car was stolen almost two months ago. I haven't had any type of a claim in over 20 years and that was for slashed tires.
State Farm is now saying their "Special Investigations" dept is handling this because the car cannot be started without a key and obviously, I had the key. The police dept said it was likely towed and stolen to be parted out (mint 2004 BMW 330I). Now it's been almost two months and I can't even get them to return my phone calls. Jodi Colucci is the claims rep. I have done everything they have asked, the recorded interview, written documentation, sent the key to the car and a copy of the title, submitted the police report, I've done everything they have asked me to.
Another issue, they asked me when the last time I drove it was. It was the night before it was stolen. They said their key expert claims I hadn't started the car in 4-5 days before it was stolen. According to BMW they didn't even have that kind of key technology in 2004. I am well aware of when I drove the car last and it was the night before it was stolen.
These people had NO problem calling me back when I was buying the policy but now that there is a claim for the first time in over 20 years it's suddenly an issue calling me back. I honestly don't know what to do. I've been without a car all this time. They told me I have rental car coverage but I don't want to start up a huge bill that they will later deny. I simply cannot afford it.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have had a similar experience with this company. There is little point in trying to reason with them. you will just get the run-around. I had gotten fed up with the stone-walling of my adjustor at State Farm, Lynn Kincaid (ext 2784167), so I asked for her supervisor. First I was told her supervisor was Shannon Shapiro (ext. 5961526). Without being put through to Shannon, my wait on hold was interrupted to tell me that it wasn't Ms. Shapiro I needed but a Kristy Watt (ext 7748138). After a few minutes on hold, the musac was interrupted again to tell me it was Lisa Herrman (ext 2784122) I should talk to. There was another 5 minutes on hold before I was put through to LYNN KINCAID!
Unfortunately, when they do this either through incompetence or as a matter of policy, you have no recourse other than a complaint to the insurance board (good luck with that) and/or a law suit. Get a good lawyer. State Farm will claim it's a contract dispute, but there is alot of tort activity going on as well.
non-loyality to long standing clients
We have had State Farm coverage for our home, autos and life insurance for 40 plus years with 6 digit total premium payments. 4 years ago, a contractor ruined the siding on our home and his insurance rejected the claim so we submitted a claim to State Farm, who in turn stated they would work with the contractors insurance agent. The claim was over $20, 000, I agree that it was substantial but we have a two story home. We heard nothing from State Farm as to the resolution with the contractors' agent but State Farm provided the check to cover the replacement of the siding. We were pleased. The this year, my wife lost a very personal bracelet and we file a claim and received $2, 500. Again pleased. Then about 4 months following this last claim, State Farm canceled our insurance stating that the amount of claims in a 5 year period exceeded their procedures. They never tried to work out a solution since the initial claim was not our fault nor did they inform us of the contractors' agent resolution. They stated that their procedure could and would not be negotiated nor overturned regardless of the situation or who the policy holder was. Yeah right. Anyway, we changed home owners insurance on two homes and 5 autos. State Farm is not loyal to their clients.

I am finding the exact same thing. After 20 yrs of car insurance coverage, and a few years with home insurance, we recently had a few tickets added from our son, who is a new driver. Having got that cleared up for almost 2 yrs now (without him getting another ticket), we recently sought to get our car towed as is broke down, using our roadside assistance, which we pay for and have used just twice in all these years. Our agent told us that it wasn't good idea, and said that our policy could be cancelled because there were too many claims in the last five years, and that the tickets our son got, made us 'bad customers' in the eyes of state farm. In 20 years, they've paid out a total of $16, 000, one for a hit and run that totaled our car. One for hail damage. One for vandalism, (a smashed drivers window) and one for a cracked windshield. I couldn't believe my ears when I heard our insurance agent say that 'we needed to clean up our act" and that we were lucky to have state farm, that if we didn't we probably wouldn't get insurance anywhere else. After all these years of being given loyalty discounts, and my husband and I both being 'good driving' discounts, we are suddenly deemed 'bad customers'. I'm appalled, and think that the behavior on the part of the agent, is BAD BEHAVIOR! I'm truly disappointed, and want to start looking at other options for insurance. I'd rather pay more, and be talked to and treated with respect. It seems to me now, that state farm is ruling with an iron fist of 'fear', and letting their customers know that 'they don't need us', and that their business doesn't depend on us, but rather we better depend on them or else. I feel quite threatened by the conversation I had with the agent today, threatened that if we 'dare' to use our coverage for any claims, even a car tow, that we will be 'kicked out of the club'. There must be better insurance companies out there. If you know, please advise.
not honoring policy agreement
I’m glad to see a newspaper that wants to know how the insurance companies have treated it’s customers through the storm. I’m giving you very general information right now, but I can be more specific if you call me. My experience was not too great. I have business insurance with State Farm to cover equipment, liability, accidents, and loss of business due to acts of nature, fire, etc. I called and was told a claims adjuster would call. Never happened. I call my agent no return call. Finally I saw and agent taking photos of what use to be a building that I rented as a clinic. I was directed to a State Farm victims claim tent (in Gardendale) a week after the storm.
They quickly entered my damages, gave me a claim number and a check for $2000 as quick and partial reimbursement. But after that it was a few weeks before the adjuster called and quickly started finding reasons they would not cover. Everyday he would call saying “I’m not sure if it is covered, I will check and get back”. I finally got my agent to return a call and talk with him. I was only claiming about $5k worth of medical equipment out of about $20k that could have been reported, but I got it repaired or had replacements for and did not pass on to insurance.
Additionally, I was closed 5 weeks and had coverage for loss of business. They stated some stipulation in the policy about location and how long my equipment could be at the clinic before coverage was no longer available (90days). I loss about $10k in business for that month and my insurance policy is suppose to cover up to 12 months, yet they paid nothing and sent me a survey asking if I’m satisfied. If you need more info on this or plan to write a story on it. Let me know I will be happy to show how they did a customer that pays on-time every month. I’m pending loosing my business right now as result of “NO COVERAGE”.
file an claim
I had filed a claim with State Farm (claim #[protected]) because there insured hit may new car I just purchased that day and took off. I called the police and gave the tag number and a description off the car. Well I filed a claim with State Farm never heard from them and was told that someone will go out and look at her car a week later after the accident...

Had roof damage from storm. Used contractor suggested by State Farm to get estimate which was $15, 000. After a 3.5 hour assessment by State Farm they will only pay out 9300. Said contractors estimate was incorrect. Had contractor come back out and they increased estimate to $17, 000 due to house having 5 roofs and cost of material increase. Roof has over 100' of ridge cap, that SF said contractor needs to cover that in their scrap. To get warrantee need to use vented ridge cap. SF said won't cover it. Have over 100' of valleys, contractor said too correctly install should use valley material. Have 4 vent pipes and chimney that contractor said flashing was old and needed to be replaced. SF said "they will not pay to correctly install roof". Note this is a contractor they recommended and after I checked them out come with great recommendations. Local SF agent said that normally all this would be covered no questions asked but since this damage was caused by a catastrophe it has to be handled out of national office and it is out of his hands. So I get screwed after being a loyal SF customer for 17 years without a signal claim. Meanwhile my nieghbor is having his entire roof relplaced by same contractor through cincinatti insurance with no questions.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
General things on insurance and contractors...usually the ridge cap is built into the cost as waste is used for this. if you were putting on a vented ridge cap to get a warranty and you didn't have it before, why would you expect someone else to pay for a better quality item that you didn't have? worn out flashing and capping isn't covered anywhere...you're not paying for a maintenance policy. Sounds like simple greed to me...
misleading online policy purchase
I was looking to switch car insurance companies after I paid off my car loan. I went to the website of State Farm, got a quote, and paid it using my credit card. Then I received a binder for insurance. I understand that they'll check for everything before they approve my purchase. However, they did issue a policy number, which is very misleading. The next day, I wanted to cancel my purchase since I decided to stay with my current insurance company. There was no way I can cancel it before it's charged to my credit card. I called State Farm based on the numbers provided online and was referred to a local agent. Called the local agent and they didn't have my information since it's still being underwritten. They can't cancel it until they get the information from State Farm. Called my credit card company and a charge has been issued while State Farm still requests more information and indicates the premium might change. What a joke! Based on my previous experience an insurance company WON'T CHARGE the payment until the premium has been agreed by the purchaser and the company, after the company reviewed and approved the application.
Have to call them again to cancel the policy and my concern now is that they'll charge the prorated policy rate since the purchase - while I'm double paying my current insurance as well. File a charge dispute with my credit card company and will see how things go. A final word: Be award of online policy purchases from State Farm!

I agree that people become victims of state farm insurance. I also would like to add that state farm agents are very unprofessional, they have very negative attitude toward people, and they are always very angry on the phone when you call them. In fact, State Farm treat people like a complete garbage, and they are able to make you feel like that if you call them. They even can not and don't want to answer a simple question when you ask them. They should either get some ethical trainings or people should stop bothering to get involved with State Farm and buy their insurances In this way State Farm will understand that they depend on the people, and people don't depend on them; their agents have their jobs because of us all.
bad faith/fraud
Long story short, had a modified vehicles registered and insured as such with state farm. After having the vehicle stolen, state farm representative iclaims investigators Stephanie Pace and her direct supervisor Sean Gray, broke numerous laws and regulatios, including committing fraud and perjury, for over 7 months until the claim was ultimately denied. the reasons given for denial of the claim, i was on vacation, i had a "hide-a-key", and the vehicle registration needed renewed. Even after going to the ca insurance bureau, they said ultimately theres nothing i can do, they can fine them but not tell me of the result of their investigation into state farm, and if i can afford it, i should sue.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
If the vehicle was unregistered, you admitted having a "hide-a-key", they can deny the claim if it was "stolen".
"After having the vehicle stolen" says it all.
refusal to pay
My daughter was hit by a drive who has State Farm, he ran a stop sign and hit her tire and bumper. I happen to have State Farm so stupid me I thought this would be easy. Once the car was at the shop State Farm began denying the claim, stating that its an older car and it was old damage. They were unable to locate a bumper and the tire that the gentleman hit was wobbly but they said that wasnt due to the accident.
The claims department was rude and NEVER followed through with anything!
Worst experience of customer service I have ever had!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
As Heath asked, do you have a police report?
It's easy for insurance investigators to tell if it's new or old damage, so if it's not related, they will not pay.
You said "They were unable to locate a bumper". What does that mean? A bumper to repair the car or the bumper that hit your daughters car?
How old it this "older car"?
do yourself a favor and find another ins company
BAD FAITH INSURERS stay away they don't care, there claims processing are the ### of ###. They are only interested in saving a dollar for themselves Do yourself a favor and find another ins company worst I've ever dealt with and I've had ins for over 30 years! LIARS where they lie with a smile on their face. Lord have mercy on these souls and give me what I need to keep praying for this kind and not to get hateful! cuz people let me tell ya My exp with State Farm was HORRIBLE I paid them to protect me they not only did not do what the policy and law states they make you feel awful and try to make it your fault and bad cuz you had an "ACCIDENT" its just what the name says "accident" for the love of pete!
very bad customer service
I recently had a car accident no fault of my own that was caused by a state farm customer. My car was the only one totaled. I have been without a car for a few days now and is having trouble with rides to work and getting my children to school.
I spoke with a few of the state farm representatives who were very rude and short. This is just not right. I am so upset bc I was the victim. Im seeking legal advice to sort this matter out the correct way after seeing all these complaints on state farm. Thanks everyone.
You should probably submit it to your own carrier and they can work it out between themselves...
I have had great luck with State Farm. I am surprised at your comment, once an insurance company accepts fault for the accident they should take care of you, but they have to do that first. If you have an issue with a claim person, you should just ask to speak to their supervisor. Give it a try before you get a lawyer, you might be surprised.
hail damage to roof
We have had several roofers from different companies look at our roof and they say we have hail damage. We had the contractor from State Farm say we have hail damage, but now the adjuster claims we have no hail damage -- she has been doing this for 2 years - what kind of experience of does she have? I thought an adjuster should have more experience than that. The roofers have 30 years experience. She said they are just out to get your money and they would say we have hail damage, but she does not agree we have hail damage, so State Farm will not pay. BUT she did say we had hail damage to our porch area and she gave us a check for that. Also every house in our neighborhood that has State Farm has been denied claims - all the other house are getting new roofs because they are with other insurance companies. Please explain! We will pursue as far as we can go but it looks like it maybe hopeless - we'll end up changing insurance companies.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Folks be wary of SF. If hy recommend their Premier Service Program decline it and find your own contractor. We had a house fire a few years ago and trusted SF when they recommend Paul Davis Restoration as apreferre service provider. What we would up with was a claim that maxed out our policy a poor workmanship. In fact sincereturning to te house we have dscovered over 100 code violations such as cut trusses, unstrength hurriane straps, wrong ceiling boards, and improperly installed trusses just to name few. We als have discovered that PDR claimed 15, 595 for a 7, 600 lanai an charged 5900 sf of roofing for a 5300 sf roof. ALL APPROVED OF BY SF. Make sre you get additonal estimtes an take lots of poictures for your records. GOOD LUCK
I also have the unfortunate luck of having State Farm insurance.
They have admitted there is extensive hail damage to all metal components and one roof panel. I also, have a she for an adjuster. I
wonder if it's the same one? She does not want to pay out, either. Keep
pushing I'm going to take it all the way!
Report this information to your State Insurance Commissoner immediately.
Plus, if you can get others in your neighborhood to do the same, it will propmt the st office to "persuade" st farm to honor their customers.
Plus, take pictures of the roof repairing in your neighborhood to prve your location and damage in your vicinity that is requiring repair/replacement.
St Farm, in my opinion is one of the WORST.
Good Luck.
motorcycle insurance
In July another biker crashed into me while I was making a turn. He was upwards of 60mph so my bike was totaled. I managed to walk away... then get carried away in an ambulance to a hospital as I guess I was in shock.
My expenses includes an ambulance ride, hospital, doctor visit and week loss of work. I was told to consult the other drivers insurance for reimbursement( State Farm) which was about 9 months ago. I have been given the medical release run around since July and have made countless calls to try and do what I can. Typed request letters, complaints... nothing seems to be moving this on. Every few months they give me some small recent info as to why we can not settle...Recently consulted with a hot shot lawyer who would not take my case and said to sue in a small claims court as she feels State Farm will not pay and my case is to small to fight. Raw expenses are around $3500.
What really makes me mad is the lying of the adjuster its like he knows that I know he is lying but he keeps it up. "My evil doctors secretary is delaying this because of some kind of personal vendetta or something..." I've talked to the dude who hit me and he is as frustrated with State Farm as I am.

unethical practices
As someone who has been in the insurance industry for 30 years I am writing this letter due to a State Farm Agents questionable practices. As an licensed Agent I m shocked to find out that State Farm Agent, Amy Brown located in Villa Rica, Georgia is promoting unethical behavior to one of her employees Marla Shaddix. Mr. Brown sent Ms. Shaddix who is NOT a licensed insurance representative, to the homes of potential life insurance customers with the mouth swabs required to get a life insurance policy. Ms. Brown told Ms. Shaddix to take the swabs to the potential customers at their home, leave the swabs with them to swab their mouths and then they would be returned to her office to be processed. When has this become an industry standard. In all of my years as a licensed agent we have always required a licensed agent to do the swabs themselves and take them back to the office. I would NEVER leave a swab there for a potential client to do themself. How do WE really know it was their own mouth they swabbed? They could have swabbed ANYONE'S mouth. What if it turned out they had Aids etc. and then the insurance company is out paying a huge life insurance policy on someone who should not have been insured anyway, not tto mentionn that the chain of command has been broken with the swabs. The agent has NO idea where the swab has REALLY been! I am absolutely shocked and floored that this type of behavior is being carried out by a licensaed State Farm Agent! What example is this setting for the indusrty? Ms. Brown's staff as well as potential clients. Her reasoning is that Ms. Shaddix goes to church with these potential customers, therefore THEY can be trusted doing their own swabbing. This is absolutely incomprehensible! I hope someone takes some sort of action because this type of unethical behavior is giving the Insurance Industry a horrible reputation. Is this the example we as insurance agents want to set for agents coming into the industry as well as our employees, I think not! I am absolutely beside myself that this type of practice is going on! It needs to stop!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I think people should put faith in their customers...and you can't get AIDS from saliva.
unetihcal agent
I purchased all of my insurance with Amy Brown State Farm Insurance in Villa Rica, Ga. I have neer had such a bad experience with an Insurance Agent in my life. I had contacted Ms. Brown on numerous occassions. She NEVER returned my calls. I even went to her office one day and SHE was the only person in the office. She did not even attempt to come out and great me much less ask if she could help me. I stood there for a good 15 minutes without Ms. Brown coming out of her office. She saw I was there and never acknowledged me To say the least I as a customer was extremely upset. She has no problems taking my money every month, but when it comes to customer service it is a joke. I have been in her office when her staff were there and they were always very polkite ad courteous and always quick to tend to my needs. After this encounter with Ms. Brown I took ALL of my insurance business to another agent who has TIME for his cusomers. I have never seen such unprofessionalism i my life from someone who OWNS an agency. If you are looking for customer service and and agent who care you had better stay away from this insurance company. She has even gone to the extent of saying she NEVER had a conversation with me on the phone and I can prove that I did because I recorded it simply because I have had his problem with Ms. Brown in the past.
Title III of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (18 U.S.C.A. §§ [protected]) generally provides that any person whose communication is intercepted, disclosed, or intentionally used can file a civil lawsuit. Many states have adopted the federal law, and some states provide greater protection.
California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Washington) require that all parties consent when one party wants to record a telephone conversation.
I am not sure where this agent domiciles.
I have also dealt with other Stae Farm Agents who are on the up and up, but this particular Agent is giving the company a BAD name! It is NOT illegal to record a conversation between 2 people if YOU are one of the parties inviolved in the conversation! I know since I am retired law enforcement! She is alienating her staff as well since she constantly lies to me, stealing their referrals etc. There is NOTHING good about this Agent! Hopefully State Farm will catch on annd cut her loose!
Don't hate the insurance company because of a bad agent! Most State Farm agents I have dealt with are extremely professional and wonderful to deal with. This agent will learn as she loses business. At least she was smart enough to surround herself with a good staff! P.S. DO NOT record phone calls without notifying the person that you are recording them. It is illegal to do so.
unethical employer
If you are thinking abou going to work for Amy Brown think twice. Mrs. Brown comes off as a very Christian person, but iif the truth be known she is a horrible supervior, a hypocrite and a habitual liar. She constantly bad mouths her church members, degrades her employees and most of all has some questionable practices when it comes to following State Farm...

State Farm is truly the worst insurance company on the planet. I have been a customer for over 20 years and paid them over $100, 000 in insurance premiums. I have had two claims for water and/or wind damage over these years and both times they denied the claims other than in one instance they paid $450 on a $10, 000 + claim. Contrast this to Chubb who immediately paid about a $50, 000 claim on a water damage issue to a house I own. Drop State Farm and move to a reputable company like Chubb if you want your claims paid! Also do a google search on State Farm Fraud Katrina and you will see how they ripped off their policy holders after a hurricane!
