We have a leak on our roof in our master bedroom and water is getting into our covered porch as a direct result of negligence on the part of Sunrun. We had a licensed roofer look at our roof and take pictures. He states that Sunrun never should have cleared our roof for solar panels and that we needed a new roof installed before Sunrun placed the solar panels. Every time we call, they give us the run around and will not let us talk with anyone that can actually help us. They want to charge us over 6K just to remove the panels so we may replace the roof that Sunrun further damaged by putting solar panels on a roof that could not sustain them. Their argument is that our warranty is expired. The warranty should be invalid because our roof was not suitable for solar panels, and they knew this. All we want is a discount on the amount they are charging us to remove the panels but if they will not communicate with us, I will be forced to take legal action. We keep emailing and calling them. We must have sent them the roof pictures at least 3 times at this point. I have a ton of pictures but am only attaching a few for reference. We have been trying to resolve this issue with Sunrun since February.
Recommendation: Stay away because they lied about the quality of our roof
Stop wasting time with their runaround and escalate the situation. Consult with a lawyer to explore your legal options and draft a formal demand letter outlining their negligence and the damages incurred. Use social media to publicly document your experience and pressure them into action. Your roof and home are at stake, and you deserve to be treated fairly. Don't let them off the hook — fight back and make sure they are held accountable for their actions.
