The show has changed my life as a believer, but the app could be better
I was able to watch season one without any issues on the app. However, I had to use Amazon prime video to watch season two and now Amazon prime video and Netflix do not have season three available. I am trying to use this app but it only displays in portrait mode and half of the screen is cut off, so I can’t see the show. This is frustrating because I have never learned more about Jesus and his disciples since watching the show, I have been reading the Bible so much more and being engaged with the parables and the stories so I would really appreciate if this was fixed so that everyone can enjoy the series. That said, the show is incredible!
Garbage
These clowns have their hand out for cash, so they can funnel to hate groups such as ADL. Lazy, low quality storytelling ripped off from older myths, traditions, and archetypes. This trash is just trying to rope gullible suckers in, get their dollars, and rope them into a regressive, uninspired belief system as they work to undermine human and civil rights. These goons are engaged in a slow-burn push to a taliban-style inept theocracy, and it all starts with their innocuous-sounding bait and vapid, feel-good messages, but make no mistake, this is all about trying to impose their dusty Abrahamaic dogmas on the rest of us. Avoid at all costs.
Blessed!
1. The app is great and runs really well.
2. Yes at times the show takes its own interpretation into the people of the Bible and their relationships between each other and with Jesus, but this is only to make a show and in no way is to disrespect the Lord or the Gospel.
3. If you are having trouble reading the word or if you read the word daily this show will make you want to read it more. If it’s because you want to check if something is true or even if it’s because something in the show happened and you want to read about it in the Holy Bible you will be spending more time in Gods word.
4. It’s great to see Gods word play out before your eyes in a way never seen before.
Incredible Series, But Inaccessible
I’ve tried this app many times, over the years, across multiple devices, and syncing with multiple TVs. I’ve used Chromecast, Amazon’s Fire Stick, the Apple TV… Either the video won’t play, or it plays and then stops randomly. It never picks up where I left off, either.
With all my issues with this app, I have zero confidence in recommending the show because I can barely manage to watch any episode past season 1.
Why can’t you all make all seasons as accessible as season 1? I don’t want another app on my phone to begin with, but especially not one that won’t even work properly. Honestly, it’s really frustrating. This show is incredible, and you lose viewers by making it so inaccessible.
THE EYE AND HEART OPENING JESUS-BASED SERIES!
As many others have attested to before me, "The Chosen" has spiritually and Biblically helped me grow closer to the Lord! I feel that I know Him in a new and profound way! It is SO RELATABLE to our own lives which makes it even more meaningful. Getting to know the disciples (with REAL personalities that are sinful, humorous, enlightening, and remarkable) also add to this series immensely! I love reading about how this series has changed the lives of so many, and has opened "new" hearts to Jesus! Praise the Lord! Thank you to all those (starting wth Dallas Jenkins, and including the actors and all behind the scenes) who have made this possible! God truly gave you a vision, and you are following it! Amen!
Enriched my life as a Christian and visualize the Bible !
I was saved last year and this show helps me read my Bible since I’m a visual person. And I can remember passages better! It reminds us that God made the ultimate sacrifice by saving us, showing us the WAY and becoming human himself, rising from death and doing what no other moral man could do, walk among us resurrected proving God’s love! Thanks to all who have made the effort and the artistry that goes into helping us visualize Christ and build an even closer relationship with God. Thank you Jesus.
It would be awesome to see these type of series continue with the Acts of the Apostles and their historic stories. The Old Testament stories would also make excellent content too! The world needs less worldly entertainment and more Godly guidance!
Amazing Portrayal!
I love all the content on this app but Angel Studio’s The Chosen is a fictional show depicting how the actual Biblical account “could” have happened. It is not meant to replace the Bible as the inerrant Word of God. Kind of like a show or book about an incident in history. It’s meant to help the watcher or reader to get a feel for what life would have been like then and what the characters might have been like. We know the apostles were human. Simon Peter WAS married. They were not angels or supernatural but sometimes we get the idea they were. I don’t watch as a replacement for Gods Word. I watch because it gives me a better historical understanding of what life was like as a believer in the first century. I think The Chosen does a beautiful job of that.
Headed for the Cross
I cannot express the joy and freshness The Chosen has brought to my walk with Christ. The realities of the disciples lives and their relationships with Jesus many times puts me ‘right there with them’. I have to remind myself often ‘which side’ of the cross THEY are on and which side I am on. Right now I am fascinated by how I am endeared to Judas just as the disciples are. As we ALL get closer to the cross, from their perspective and for us this side of the cross, I believe ALL of us are going to see new things as we ALL look at that horrific scene through the disciples eyes. It is going to take us to new depths of soul and examination. At this point I simply say ‘Thank you Dallas, thank you❣️Thank you for saying YES to Jesus about THE CHOSEN❣️
Your Sister

Fantastic series!
Jesus! Let’s make it personal!
You can have all the religion in the world, you can have all the rules from your church, you can have every standard that humans can make, but the only thing that matters in the end is a personal relationship with the one and only savior Jesus Christ!
The one who was the one who is in the one who is still to come.
They do a fantastic job of bringing the Bible to life, just like they say on every episode, you definitely need to read your Bible and you need to know your Bible before you watch the show, but they want you to have a closer Jesus, if you already know him, if you do not know him, they want you to know him!
And that is the whole reason to life, thank you so much Dallas and The Chosen team, y’all are fantastic!
Can’t wait to see more seasons, and more adventures!
Love the Show! The App is Bad!
I am a HUGE fan of the show (5+ Stars)! Support it sooo very much with purchase of products and love of the show. It has literally changed my life. I do not say that lightly.
Now for my reason for the one star. It is for the new app only. I have downloaded it on my Fire Stick and my IPhone 14. Can’t watch it. On the Fire Stick it is so glitchy. I hear Dallas repeat the same thing over and over again. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. Rebooted my TV and the Fire Stick. No change. On my phone while in the middle of the livestream it kicks out to the title page and can’t get back to the video without shutting down and going back in. And it does it again within seconds. Again, I uninstalled and reinstalled. No change. This is quite devastating for me as I want to watch the livestream and the after show. :(
5 stars, so far
Really enjoy both the “show” and dolly enjoy the round table sessions even more as after reading the Bible in a year 2 yrs in a row now and working on my 3rd besides completely changing my life; I now have a new appreciation for the Old Testament and Jewish Law/Mosaic Law - and am enjoying most hearing from the Rabbi who believes in Jesus Christ. So since I’m only 1 season into it here this far; will be talking my cues from him and the other pastors as to what’s biblically correct and what’s “Hollywood” as the author:writer of this series admits he’s embellished with an over riding larger story arc that I pray doesn’t distract from Zgids word. Some could argue that you didn’t need any more but he’s opted to add additional characters into the mix. So I’m giving it 5 stars for now but if it heads off the rails I’ll be the first in line to share my objections over anything that’s just not right.
A door opening
I’m a pretty old dude having spent my life in ignorance of the Christ story. I wasn’t hostile to it, I just hadn’t really been exposed to it and didn’t feel any particular connection to it. I began taking more of an interest a few years ago after stumbling on youtube videos by Robert Barron, which led me to many others. At some point i found a youtube about the filming of the first episodes of The Chosen, which hadn’t yet premiered, and i’ve been hooked ever since. I had no idea that these stories could affect me so deeply. I’m thinking about getting baptized and going through the process of becoming a Catholic, but the notion seems almost silly for someone my age.
The Chosen, with superb writing and acting and casting, brings the stories vividly to life. Very useful for a newbie like me who is trying to figure out who’s who and what’s what on a basic level.
Very highly recommended.
Beyond Amazing! Bring The Bible To Life!
I have always struggled to fully understand the gospels. The Chosen has helped me make sense of so much and sparked my desire to dig deeper in the scriptures like never before! I am on pins and needles waiting for the next season to begin. I cannot wait to see what I learn.
Being able to see what Jesus’ personality was possibly like was very interesting. I would like to think He was relaxed and even charismatic. I love that he is portrayed as an empathetic and caring savior.
I literally watch each season over and over and learn more each time. I have begun to watch the episodes as I study the gospels now, the words in the scripture speak to me…deeply, differently, and drive me to want to know more to understand how it all relates to my life today.
I find myself wanting to do nothing but study the Bible. The Chosen, in part, is responsible for this drive.
If you have yet to give this series a try, you have nothing but a little time to lose and possible everything to gain. The heart behind the development of the series is everything.
First Impressions
So without trying to compare this new app to the former and point out things I would like to see according to personal preference, I will say that
1. The app opens up and plays the episodes without any problems. I was able to watch one from beginning to end with no issues or interruptions in between.
2. I love that we can now donate (feels a little weird being able to say that word now haha)
3. I like that each episode has a small picture that you click on instead of a big one
The only ‘negative’ things I noticed is that when the episode I watched finished, the screen displayed an error message that the ‘file’ couldn’t be opened/played. Not sure if it was in reference to the next episode it might have been trying to start or the one I had just finished watching. But the app closed shortly after I think. I’m sure this will be fixed soon :)
This app literally just became available so it’s not going to be perfect.
Suggestions: On the episode selection screen it would be nice if it didn’t start playing a episode before I got a chance to click on it, the drop down menu on the episode selection screen to switch between seasons is probably unnecessary… personally think it’s better to click the ‘watch’ tab and choose a season from the homepage, making it easier to find the pilot and The Messengers episode would be awesome (instead of having to scroll through all the other extras to find them)
Extremely shoddy app
wanted to try this app after growing pretty tired of the relentless requests for money from Angel Studios’ app (seriously, incredibly annoying) and the equally irritating mandatory testimony viewing after each episode. But this app is very subpar and cheaply made. It makes it obvious that they are more interested in keeping money in their pockets than providing viewers a hassle-free streaming experience.
The videos run smooth and the app has never crashed on me. The episodes do not have annoying constant requests to donate or mandatory testimony viewing. Just a discreet button inviting to donate. That’s the only positive thing I can say about it. BUT….
If you want to watch an episode and you have to stop halfway through, the app will not allow you to resume. You have to start from the start.
No automatic next episode feature. Not even a manual button. You have to go back, scroll all the way, click.
There is no colored bar telling you if you watched an episode, so if you don’t remember where you left, good luck scrolling.
If you change the language or subtitles, it won’t change after at least two tries.
I appreciate that I can use other apps and still can hear the episodes, but there’s no thumb with the video playing, like other streaming devices.
Why aren’t the extra episodes in a separate tab?
Not sure why the foundation chose to do a separate app but it’s not a great one. The better of the two is Angel Studios’ but I am a Christian who HATES being guilted into giving money (we get enough of that from quite a number of preachers already) and I give if and when I want to, and giving won’t get rid of the requests, so now that I have watched the show and season 4 is not coming any time soon., I’m getting rid of this shoddy app.
Rainbow flag
I have always given a 5 star review…. But… I’m
Sooooooooo disappointed in the rainbow flag.
This kind of show should not have any political agenda. I know your agenda is inclusion.
But when you go on that slippery slope you are opening a can of worms.
# 1. There are so many agendas:
a. The Jews… who have been discriminated
against far more than any LGBTQ+ They
were slaughtered (millions). They still
Have mass shootings in their synagogs.
b. Blacks- we know of their discrimination.
They were slaves for gosh sakes.
I don’t remember any LGBTQ+ people
being enslaved for hundreds of years.
c. Let’s not forget about us women. Gay
men and Jewish men and straight white
men could vote before we could. Our
pay scale has been historically lower
than men’s as a whole.
d. Then let’s not forget about our police.
Much discrimination in the past decade
and still on going.
e. What about the American Indian. We
stole their land. Etc….
f. What about the suffering people in the
Ukraine? Have the LGBTQ+ suffered as
much as they have?
g. The mormons were driven from their
homes, their “prophet” killed.
I have a grandchild who is Trans. I have and will treat this child (young adult) with love and respect.
The list goes on and on…. That’s why it’s best
NOT to have politics or agendas on your show.
I’m not sure I’ll watch any more. And that makes me sad. Yes I know INCLUSION. But
even the Lord called a spade a spade. As kind and loving and forgiving as he was….
(He said to the people… “ye who have not sinned cast the first stone. Then he said to the Adulterous… “go and SIN no more”
With all the love and forgivness in him he still called it a sin. He loved and included the marginalized but still called a spade a spade.
I think your intentions are good. But bit misguided. I wish you all the best.
The Chosen App
This app is fantastic! I have seen my fair share of Christian shows and movies in my life, and The Chosen comes in as number 1 on my list of them. The Gospel of John is number 2. The Chosen is not word for word reenactment of the biblical text due to it is a television series (where character development takes place and life situations can be explored in general) what the series does offer is an accurate portrayal of Jesus and His overall character.
Because of this show many people have reconnected with Jesus or found Him for the first time and started reading their bibles and praying.
The creator of the show, Dallas Jenkins, takes the script very seriously. After researching the culture, biblical texts, and the environment of those days he writes the script and sits down with a baptist preacher, Catholic priest, and messianic rabbi to discuss it with them. They all decided want was probable for the extra storyline.
The show has critics however in churches and online largely do to the extra storyline. Accusing the show creator of adding to the Bible. This of course is due to ignorance of the show and a misunderstanding of biblical text in general. At the beginning of the first episode the creator tells you the viewer this show is not a replacement for scripture.
The show itself is a ministry of another brother in Christ. So to the critics of the show who are believers in Christ allow me to quote James 4:11-12, "Do not speak against one another, brethren. He who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law; but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge of it. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is able to save and to destroy; but who are you who judge your neighbor?".
Lastly, those who typically speak against the show misuse John’s warning in Revelation 22:18-19 that says this, “ For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” This book and this prophecy are about The Revelation not about the whole Bible which is made up of 66 books and letters.
So please do yourself a favor and download this app and bing watch it. You will not be disappointed.
The Chosen Complaints 17
Frustrating
Show is great. App is not. Can’t go fast forward. Restarts. Plays show in background and can’t pause inside app. Oh well. Just hope this gets better.
Awesome show, buggy app
I love the show, but the iPhone app casting to Chromecast is incredibly buggy. Crashes frequently, resets to the beginning when reopening after a crash or even unlocking the screen.
Not credible
Was a fan from the very beginning...now finding them to have credibility issues...typical Hollywood...will no longer be watching. Unsubscribed and removed all apps from phones and tvs.

We looked up The Chosen and found that the website is receiving a high amount of traffic. This could be a sign of a popular and trustworthy website, but it is still important to exercise caution and verify the legitimacy of the site before sharing any personal or financial information
However ComplaintsBoard has detected that:
- While The Chosen has a high level of trust, our investigation has revealed that the company's complaint resolution process is inadequate and ineffective. As a result, only 0% of 17 complaints are resolved. The support team may have poor customer service skills, lack of training, or not be well-equipped to handle customer complaints.
- Website's registrar is popular among scammers, it means that a significant number of scammers have used that registrar to register domain names for their fraudulent websites. This can indicate that the registrar has lax verification processes, making it easier for scammers to register domains without providing accurate information.
- The Chosen protects their ownership data, a common and legal practice. However, from our perspective, this lack of transparency can impede trust and accountability, which are essential for establishing a credible and respected business entity.
Privacy
I really was looking forward to using this app- however the privacy policy is an issue- I wouldn’t have thought that you would be the number of the beast- sorry guys- I’ll watch the Chosen via other means
So frustrating!
I have started to watch, and enjoyed the ones that I watched. But why can’t I watch the episodes I want? Each time I try to open a season I have to start with the first episode. This isn’t the way it should be.
Great show, poor app
The Chosen is awesome. However, the app is useless. It doesn’t work on a 5th generation iPad Pro. Orientation is a mess and crashes repeatedly. I switched to my iPhone and then air played to a tv. The old app was much better.
App
Since they’ve changed it after season two this app and angel studio app is useless to stream to Apple TV. Change doesn’t mean good. Guess I won’t be watching anymore of my favorite series. Oh well all good things come to an end.
My videos won’t play horizontal
I have not been able to use the app properly because whenever I try to play a vid it is stuck in portrait mode and half of the video cannot be seen. I’ve also checked my device’s orientation to ensure that it is not in portrait lock.
Arrogant
I don’t want to be rude, but it seems like y’all are letting your success go to your heads. The feeling of humility is nowhere to be found in this app. I’ll stick with the Angel app and pay it forward to other shows that haven’t gotten to big for their britches.
What happened to “landscape” view on iPad?
Up until a month or two ago, I was able to watch episodes on iPad in landscape mode.
Now it only works on portrait. I did not lock it so this is happening on your side. I noticed similar comments by other users so it’s not just me.
Please fix this at your earliest convenience.
Thank you.
Doesn’t Cast
The app used to work beautifully; a full 5 stars but now it doesn’t cast to the TV and freezes. And no it is not on an old device. This needs to be fixed. This show is too important not to share with others. No one wants to watch a video in Portrait mode. These two things need to be fixed now not later.
After updating the app plays in portrait orientation only
The previous version of this app allowed for viewing in the landscape orientation. After updating, now it only allows viewing in the portrait orientation. Delegating and reinstalling the app does nothing to fix the issue. Is anyone else having this issue? I contacted Support, and they are looking into it. If anyone has a suggestion, please let me know. Thanks!
I tried I really tried
I know that “The Chosen” is trying to urge people to use the app instead of Youtube or Facebook, but streaming on the app is absolutely horrible. It crashes so frequently and literally tests my faith so much. I’m not leaving this review to bash on anything, I’m more so leaving it to beg that y’all don’t stop posting on YouTube until you fix the app. Please, I beg of you!
Uses too much data…
Although I like that all the seasons can be found in one place, I don’t like that the app uses a lot of data. One episode uses 1GB and I only have 15GB a month. I’ve purchased the first two seasons on Prime Video so I LOVE that I can watch repeatedly without using any data. I live very simply and below poverty level so I don’t have wifi and can only use my phone at this point.
Start Over
I tried to be gracious for the bumpy start, but it’s been too long. This app just isn’t working. You should make an announcement to send people back to the Angel Studios app while you shut this one down and start over. I’d love to change this review to be five stars, because the content of the show is so good. However, this app is currently incapable of delivering that content well - if at all.
See Jesus walk, talk and interact with people like you and me!
I have watched every Christmas,Easter and biblical movie released on every major network over the past 60 years. None have ever reached out and drawn you in so much that you can almost believe that you are there with Jesus himself! Strongly recommend watching each season! I have been able to resist the condemnation of the false churches legalism doctrine and now walk daily with Jesus freely through prayer and clearly understanding when reading His word/bible.
No support for landscape mode? Really? Come on man
Why would not this get fixed on a simple upgrade 1.5.1?
This is a major issue with a minor fix to apply an Apple standard. This shows your programmers are not real developers, if they can’t turn around a quick fix for this….really sad for such an important vessel and tool for spreading the Good News!
As a programmer, I am ashamed of the lack of attention to this SO IMPORTANT DETAIL.
Come on man, get our act together and let the public focus on the streaming content(Jesus) and NOT the app!
About The Chosen
The Chosen tells the story of Jesus Christ and his disciples, but it does so in a way that is fresh, innovative, and deeply moving. Rather than simply retelling the familiar stories of the Bible, The Chosen takes a more personal approach, exploring the lives and struggles of the people who followed Jesus and the impact that he had on their lives.
One of the most striking things about The Chosen is its production value. The series is beautifully shot and expertly crafted, with stunning visuals and a rich, immersive atmosphere that draws viewers in and keeps them engaged. The attention to detail is remarkable, from the costumes and sets to the music and sound design.
But what really sets The Chosen apart is its focus on character development. The series takes the time to explore the inner lives of its characters, delving into their hopes, fears, and struggles in a way that is both relatable and deeply moving. This approach makes the characters feel more real and human, and it allows viewers to connect with them on a deeper level.
At its core, The Chosen is a story about the transformative power of faith. It shows how Jesus Christ can change lives and bring hope to even the most broken and lost among us. It is a powerful reminder that no matter how dark things may seem, there is always hope for redemption and renewal.
Overall, The Chosen is a truly remarkable series that has touched the hearts of millions around the world. It is a testament to the power of storytelling and the enduring message of hope and love that lies at the heart of the Christian faith.
