I was on a free trial when I saw an article on The Economist that said "The world is made for white men. They share it with everyone else." I quickly canceled my trial 'cause I don't back this kinda racist talk. My time with The Economist was awful.

I got charged twice, and when I tried to reach someone through chat or phone, I couldn't. After 40 minutes, they hung up on me. The chat was even worse. It counted down to "I'm next in line" after 40, but then it got all jumbled up. I'll have to dispute the charge. I can't believe this magazine has such awful service and procedures.

The Economist This company gonna make you wait in a phone or live chat line to cancel your subscription

This company gonna make you wait in a phone or live chat line to cancel your subscription. No need to make me talk to someone just to cancel. It's basically stealing. I had to wait like 30 minutes to cancel. Forget about the magazine content, this business model is garbage and shows how greedy corporations are.

The Economist Don't subscribe to the digital service, mate

Don't subscribe to the digital service, mate. They're proper pushy when it comes to keeping you hooked. Can't even cancel your subscription on their website, you gotta ring 'em up and try to convince some bloke on the phone that you don't want it no more. And guess what? They'll talk you into staying for another month or six, and before you know it, you've forgotten to cancel again after all them automatic renewals. It's a right pain in the backside, I tell ya.

And let's talk about the articles, or whatever you wanna call 'em. They're getting shorter and shorter, mate. Barely any content or details. Most of 'em are just three or four paragraphs long now. It's like they can't be bothered to give you the full story anymore.

And don't even get me started on their apps. They're a right mess, confusing and clumsy as anything. Honestly, save your dosh and find a business that actually respects you.

When I click on My Account, the "Subscription and delivery address" part says "Your subscription info will be shown here, eventually." I've been waiting for 8 hours and it still ain't showing up, so I can't cancel my subscription. This is really bumming me out 'cause it's a big news site.

The Economist I canceled my subscription last month but the service showed up as active

I canceled my subscription last month but the service showed up as active. They charged me again in April when I had canceled and now I had to contact them just to have it canceled. The website even shows as active when I had to go back onto my account and cancel. This is fraud on a whole new level and I will make sure not to have anyone I know use this service.

I tried to cancel my subscription, they said they would cancel it, I have a copy of the customer chat transcript stating that it would be cancelled, they kept billing me. They make it impossible to cancel online, a violation of California law. I have attached the chat transcript where they clearly say that my auto-renewal will be cancelled, and a screenshot of my credit card bill showing that they lied.

The Economist I had a terrible experience with The Economist customer care

I had a terrible experience with The Economist customer care. I spoke with five different people, and each one gave me a different answer. Some said my subscription was active, while others said it wasn't. I also asked them to delete my personal information, but they refused. They claimed that since I cancelled my account, I couldn't delete my information unless I paid them to reactivate it again.

The Economist I tried The Economist's online chat to cancel my subscription like they said

I tried The Economist's online chat to cancel my subscription like they said. The person on the other end kept offering me more subscriptions, but I didn't have time for a long chat. I just said, "No thanks, cancel please. Thanks." But then I saw they charged my Debit card $48.15 on September 13th. I called customer service more than 5 times to cancel and get a refund. Today is my 10th attempt, but they won't do it. I can't cancel unless they do it themselves. Their website doesn't let you cancel, only phone calls, but their phones are always down.

The Economist I got a subscription with The Economist and they took my money upfront but ain't delivering the stuff I paid for

I got a subscription with The Economist and they took my money upfront but ain't delivering the stuff I paid for. The magazine ain't coming to my place regularly. They missed out on the April 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30 issues, as well as the May 21 and June 4 ones. That's a total of 7 issues gone missing. I checked until the end of August 2022, and those issues were still nowhere to be found. I let the company know about it on 09/07/22, but they don't wanna give me a refund or extend my subscription. On top of that, they want me to keep subscribing with a fake 50% discount. It's just plain outrageous. This is enough for me to never do business with them again. It ain't my problem if they can't get their act together with *** or sort out their delivery mess. If they keep ignoring this, I might have to take 'em to court at *** courthouse. But first, I'll let the ComplaintsBoard.com handle it before I go ahead with the lawsuit.

The Economist I've been tryin' to cancel my online subscription to The Economist since January 2022

I've been tryin' to cancel my online subscription to The Economist since January 2022. I just wanted one month of the subscription, ya know? But I've been tryin' to cancel it every month since then, and it's been a real struggle. The Economist's website is a mess, with all these buttons and upsells gettin' in the way. They say you can cancel using their "24/7 available Live Chat," but that's a bunch of baloney. The Live Chat ain't even available all the time! And when ya do manage to connect, the process of cancelin' is a nightmare. I've tried cancelin' about a dozen times since January, but every time, the person on the other end of the Live Chat tries to sell me somethin' instead. And to top it off, they keep disconnectin' me before I can even respond! It's frustratin' as heck, and I need help gettin' outta this subscription. The Economist's cancellation procedures are just plain unfair, and they're lyin' about the availability of their Live Chat. I want a refund of $150 for all the months I couldn't cancel. Can someone please help me out? Thanks a bunch.
