The Fresh Market Meat department

We were at the Fresh Market in Vero Beach Florida this AM. All we wanted was some sweet Italian sausage. They only had 1/2 pound. OK. The employee was really nice but then dropped it on the floor. He said he would try to get more. He went back into the meat room where you could see the employees to ask. He came out and said it would be a few minutes, would we mind waiting? Fine. He went back and there were two other meat employees just standing around talking and he couldn't get them to do anything. So we waited and nothing. Finally we said forget it. One of the men said in a very sarcastic voice Merry Christmas.

We drive 24 miles from Sebastian Florida to go to this store since we don't have one. We are never coming back!

Desired outcome: That this not just ignored.

The Fresh Market False Advertising - Hingham Fresh Market

Today is 10/24/22. I always go to the Fresh Market in Hingham and pick up boxes of the croissants, buy one get one free. I like the butter croissants. Since my son has been sick with Covid-19, I have been purchasing 4 boxes and bringing them two boxes. The first visit, I arrived at approx. 8:15 A.M. You did not have them on display, so I asked the cook. She told me multi-grain was all she had. I asked her, will you have the butter later. She said yes. So, I sent back again, at approx. 11:00 A.M., this time I spoke to the Asian girl, the cook was behind her and the Asian girl asked the cook who said multi-grain only. I said you told me you would have butter later. Then she said after 2 o'clock. Now I go back at approx. 3 o'clock and the Asian girl told me the cook did not make them. THREE VISITS, THE COST OF GAS AND TELLING ME FALSE INFORMATION! I ended up purchasing the large ones, quantity 4, however, I like the small ones. I also purchased other items at the store while I was there. Don't give me false information and waste my time. I told the Asian girl I was going to report this. TIME IS MONEY TODAY. GAS, LEAVING MY HOME AGAIN. THREE TIMES!.

The Fresh Market Rosemary sea salt bread and roasted chicken

I bought a rosemary sea salt bread from the bakery today. The price on the basket that they were in said 5.29. On the loaf I bought it says 5.29. On my receipt it says one @ 5.29, yet I was charged 6.29! Very frustrating as it is labeled 5.29!

Also I bought a rosemary lemon roasted chicken for 6.00, I took a bite out of a leg when I got home and it was like chewing shoe leather, so dry.

I am very disappointed and have pictures for proof, and do not have time today to run back up there.

I shop at this store at least 2-3 times a week, and am usually happy with my purchases. But to be overcharged for an item when it is stated in at least 2 places is awful. And the dried up roasted chicken is a fright!

Desired outcome: A rain check for a roasted chicken as I cannot get back to the store today, and maybe a dollar off coupon for a bakery bread loaf?

Really like the store , but do not agree with dogs being allowed in the store find it very unhygienic.will not be shopping here again , as the dog was licking bottles of water that customers will purchase,

Store accociates claimed to be under the supervision of fbi and that they don't want me shopping there. One of the staff even called me nasty looking. Where did all of this hostility come from? That coupled with food items that I have been buying for years miraculously not being carried anymore once you step back from the maze of rationalizations I notice...

The food was not good. The gravy was awful tasting! When you see the picture, serves maybe 3. Needless to say, I had to add ingredients to make the gravy palatable, buy fresh cranberries to add to what was already paid and add ingredients for fluffy potatoes. It was 3 of us, women, and the point was not having to cook. This meal cost 59.99, plus tax. It...

The Fresh Market False Advertising of Meat

2 High visibility items being sold by TFM that are not what they are stated to be are: Ground Sirloin and Chateaubriand cut tenderloin steaks.

The ground sirloin sold is not from the top butt cut beef (what you get sirloin steaks from) but anything that is lean, which could include meat chunks from: chuck, strip, rib, tip, bottom round, top round, and the occasional old sirloin steak that did not sell as a steak.

The Chateaubriand cut labeled steaks are in fact just portion size cut fillets. Whereas a true Chateaubriand cut is only from the large butt end of the whole tenderloin, of which you can only get 2 steaks that qualify.

TFM Corporate is responsible for the steak mislabeling, and both corp and store level are responsible for the ground sirloin not being 100% sirloin.

The Fresh Market ground chuck

The Fresh Market Chain in Florida stores has deals on ground chuck and chicken breast one day of the week. Prices are very good on these items so many come. The problem is that I cooked some of the ground chuck and got extremely scared when I found a long, thin, white curly thing in the meat after the cooking. Honestly it was so disgusting, it looked exactly like what a tape worm or other parasitical worm would look like. I have no idea what it was, but it did not belong in there. I am sick to my stomach over this and will not be going back to this store. This store is in Orlando.

they last time I cooked a pound of fresh market ground chuck, I got 14 table spoons of fat out of it, some of the fat jelled like plastic.

The Fresh Market Bad meat/poultry

Been oing to this store for 6 years. The food safety has fallen dramatically in last 9 months.
July 10- bought 10 pounds of ribs- Bad/botulism ridden
12/23/10- Bought a fresh 23 pound turkey that I had ordered and picked up on 12/23/10- opened up on 12/24 to cook for 10 people. Bad again-botulism ridden.
This store has serious food safety issues. In 30 plus years I have never had so much bad product from 1 store as this one.
Another embarassing issue, and no food to serve guests on a holiday AGAIN.

The Fresh Market Smelly plastic produce bags

The Fresh Market plastic bags available for customers in the produce area have a very strong, chemical smell that lingers on the food. The past two times I've been there, both the apples and produce I bought retained the "chemical smell" even after I got home, and washed the produce. Especially the apples. How could this possibly be healthy? Some type of chemical is being used in this bag, probably to cut their costs a few pennies. This is not the place to do it, especially when it bleeds into the produce itself. Something is wrong with these bags. Take a whiff the next time you're in the store.

The Fresh Market Scam

I had always enjoyed my experience at Fresh market ever since it opened in Provo. I like the freshness of the produce and meat for my restaurant which is also in Provo and also the friendliness of the staff. But I just had a very unpleasant experience lately. We received a letter ( in a personal size envelope) with everything written, appears to be very unprofessional. Opening up the letter, two slip of paper (the size of two business cars put together) fell out, one of them says balance due: 55.42, handwritten, nothing else. the other piece I recognized was the tax examption form I was given to filled out when I purchased meat for my restaurant on Jan.30, has my signiture on it, but the totally amt was 35.42. I was confused and alert because I didn't think your company will send such a unprofesional letter to customer and ask for some charge I already paid through debit card at purchase. so I called a friend of mine to get the restaurant ready and drove to the store located at center street. the manager on duty asked me what was the problem sounding like he was sleep talking, I showed him the letter, ready to tell him more, he interrupted me by saying :" talk to the bookkeeper" Then he went back into the room and never seen again.The bookkeeper Laurie came out of the room, looked at the two pieces of paper, says " yeah, you have to pay that" "excuse me?" I then showed them my bank statement clearly stating the debit card withdraw of the amount from the store. Laurie then said " Well, if you have already paid it, then you shouldn't receive this." "I knew I shouldn't before I came here, but I want to know why" I said, Laurie then start saying something about the coporate's transaction, I was deeply confused by all that, and finally I said : " what does that have to do with this, I filled this and signed it for tax examption for my restaurant!" "Oh!" "..." " Do you remember who your cashier was?" Am I suppose to remember every cashier's name, especially those from 3 months ago? " No." I said, " well... apparently he/she doesn't know what they were doing, sorry about that, we will further investigate more". So that's it... I took time from my restaurant, drive all the way to the store, just to get a answer from bookkeeper blaming one of your cashiers. I am very disappointed at the way you dealt with this situation. I understand all human being make mistakes, but I didn't feel respected and din't feel i was taken seriously. After all, I have never had any super market bill me for something I purchased 3 months ago before.

I regularly shop at a Fresh Market outside the metro SLC area.

Since the store is new (it was a former Albertson's bought by the Fresh Market chain in 2009), I find I need to check prices at the cashier stand because they sometimes don't match the sign on the item.

This has been true particularly of produce items as well as sale items on special displays and endcaps.

In the front of the store there was an endcap display for Gatorade with a small sign stating in large type the item was .$69. I was in a hurry and didn't notice the much smaller type above the sale price that this price was only good if you bought 10 and used an in-store coupon.

I find this to be deceptive and unfair to consumers.

Many people end up buying less than 10 and end-up paying full price without realizing it.

Shame on you Fresh Market. Make the offer clear and readable for all to see.

I intend to be more careful in the future, and avoid the problem altogether and buy Gatorade at Wal-Mart down the street.

The Fresh Market Hair in Deli Food

I am a regular customer of Fresh Market. I love this store! However, I purchased a dish from the deli and found a short gray hair in the food (I have long black hair). I saved the container and the hair. I took it into the store, showed it to a manager and she just shrugged her shoulders! No apology, nothing. I said, "I notice that the deli workers are not wearing hair coverings." Her reply was "The home office will not allow hair nets."

A week later I ordered another deli dish. As I was eating the dish, a dried tomato pasta salad, I began to choke. I spit out a plastic cord about 6" long! I returned to the store and made some observations. A young man in the deli did not see me as I saw him stuffing food into his mouth. Then as I toured the store, I witnessed a female employee putting candy into zip lock bags ungloved! Then I located a manager. First, I showed her the container with te 6" plastic cord that I had found n my pasta salad. She remarked, "Well, some of the salads come already prepared, but this one is one we have to put together and this is probably the seal from one of the containers." Again, no apology at all. Then I continued to tell her of the observations I had made. She almost told me I was fibbing! She said, "All of our employees wear gloves when handling food." So I walked her to the area where the female employee was bagging candy bare handed. Good by, Fresh Market. ! I plan to report this to my local health department.

As a seafood clerk, I have made many complaints about the freshness of the seafood that is sold here. Nothing has changed in three months. Tainted seafood, no cleaning of the pans that are used to house the food in the case. Days old seafood freezing to said pans. Not to mention the lack of firing problem people. This attitude says that it's ok to serve nasty seafood.
This company's profit in the first quarter of 2014 was 148 million dollars. They still pay terrible wages to those that work hard and pay well those that do not. Not so Fresh Market, after all! DO NOT SHOP HERE!

The Fresh Market Strange object in deli food

I frequent Fresh Market several times a week. One of my favorite deli dishes is the sun-dried tomato pasta. After eating a dish of this pasta for lunch one day, I discovered a gray curly hair in the bottom of the container. I do not have gray curly hair. I saved the container to show to management. A week later I purhased the same dish for lunch and upon eating it, I began choking. I extracted a 9" long plastic cord from my mouth! So I took both containers into Fresh Market and asked for management. A new famale manager was on duty, Glenda, I think was her name. When I told her my story and showed her the evidence, she raised her eyebrows. No apology of any sort was offered. Then I told her that I would not be buying from her deli in the future. I mentioned that I had witnessed an employee stuffing his mouth with chicken while working in the deli area. She asked for a description and told me that he had been fired. Then I brought to her attention that I had surveyed the store and had witnessed an employee bagging unwrapped candy with her bare hands. The manager said, "No, our employees always use gloves." I suggested that we walk to the candy counter. There was the employee dishing up unwrapped candy with her bare hands! No remark from the manager. Then I asked if Fresh Market did not require deli employees to cover their hair. This was her reply: "Our home office does not allow our employees to wear hair covers." This market is suppose to be upscale, i.e. overpriced food, so I suppose a hair net is not in keeping with the upscale image. This I will report to my local health department. Had the manager shown any concern or voiced an intent to remedy the situation, I would have been satisfied. But she did not, so to the health department I will go with a complaint. This is the 2nd "hair" in food incident I have had in a month in the Mobile, Al area. Perhaps I should take the time to cook my own food!
