I've been calling these folks for the past two months, multiple times mind you, to complain about them chucking their paper into my driveway. I ain't got no subscription, never had one either. It's become a real pain in the neck, and I'm fed up with it. They keep telling me the same darn thing, like a broken record, to wait 24-48 hours for the message to reach the delivery department. But lo and behold, by the third or fourth day, there's that pesky paper in my driveway once again. It's driving me bonkers, and there's absolutely nothing I can do to put an end to it. The management here is just plain awful, and I'm beyond ticked off with this company. Seriously, can't they just stop already? Good grief!

I subscribed online
I subscribed online. I should be able to cancel my subscription online. I wanted to be able to cancel my subscription online, but company policy doesn't allow me to do this. This is simply a strategy to continue a subscription, as calling is far more inconvenient and time-consuming, and thus likely to extend the subscription. Just a money grab.
I signed up to have two copies of The News-Press delivered every Sunday and Wednesday for $8.50 per month
I signed up to have two copies of The News-Press delivered every Sunday and Wednesday for $8.50 per month. When I log into my News Press account, it shows the same info. But they keep charging my credit card different amounts on top of my subscription. I checked my emails and found nothing from The News-Press that would explain these charges.
I started with a 6 month trial for $1.00, but after 6 months, right before I was supposed to be billed $9.99 a month, I called to cancel
I started with a 6 month trial for $1.00, but after 6 months, right before I was supposed to be billed $9.99 a month, I called to cancel. The phone operations close really early, so I decided to do a live chat instead. During the live chat, they told me it was too late to cancel because I had already been billed (before the bill date!?!), and they promised me a rate of $2.99 a month starting on September 13. However, I was actually charged $9.99 on September 12. I called them again, and they said there was no way I was offered that amount, and they suggested I just accept a charge of $3.25 next month. I just want to cancel and get a refund because I was charged more than what was promised before the payment date. I attached a screenshot from August 12 showing the quoted amount and billing date, as well as my credit card statement showing the overcharge on the wrong day.

The News-Press keeps billing me
The News-Press keeps billing me. Last month, I was billed twice on October 1, 2022 and October 20, 2022. They keep saying my payment was declined, but it wasn't. I see a debit from my checking account every month. I called someone in early August to cancel, but no one responded. I emailed them, but they didn't reply. I've been on hold for hours over the past two months, trying to resolve this issue. They haven't responded to my emails, even when I mentioned contacting the ComplaintsBoard.com. I don't want to keep paying for something I don't use. I want a refund for August, September, and my two October payments, and I want to cancel my online subscription.
On March 6, they cancelled my service even though I had already paid for a whole year of home delivery, seven days a week
On March 6, they cancelled my service even though I had already paid for a whole year of home delivery, seven days a week. I made the payment on March 31, totaling $305.28. However, in January , they billed me $529.84, and in February , they billed me $481.01. I reached out to customer service each time I received a bill, informing them that I had already paid in full until April 1. Unfortunately, the customer service representatives I spoke to in *** were unwilling to transfer me to a supervisor or anyone in the United States. On March 6, I lost access to digital content and home delivery. When I called customer service, they explained that they were adjusting the length of my subscription due to "rate increases." However, I was under the impression that I had already paid in full for a whole year of service, and that my payment covered me until April 1.
My mom relocated to a new home in February
My mom moved in February. I transferred her newspaper delivery to her new home. I'm paying monthly for this service. She hasn't received a single newspaper yet. I've repeatedly contacted the News Press for resolution. They continue to bill my credit card, which the card company won't block without a response from the News Press. I might have to cancel my card to stop payments. Is this fair? The address given is my mom's current residence. My contact details are provided for correspondence. What should I do? I incurred another charge this month. The facility staff are also frustrated with my weekly inquiries about the newspaper delivery, which has consistently been undelivered.
We had an account with The News-Press which we canceled
We had an account with The News-Press which we canceled. We opened a new account NP4708448. Starting in December we were billed twice for both accounts but only received one newspaper for almost four months. When we received two papers in March , we contacted The News-Press and found out that both accounts were still active. We paid various amounts and didn't notice the double billing because we used two different credit cards. Phone calls to Customer Service have been useless. No refund, no talk with a supervisor.
I had a subscripshun with News-Press that was due to run out
I had a subscripshun with News-Press that was due to run out. I did not wanna renew so I called to cancel in June. I think around the 25th or 26th to close my account. I had the woman wipe out my credit card to make sure I wouldn't be charged. It didn't show on my account page except the expiration date which expired in 8/21 anyway. On July 31, 2022 I noticed I had been charged $59 by News-Press for a closed account. I called them on 8/1 and they said I'd get an email and they would refund my money. I went to the bank about why an expired card was used. I didn't get a satisfactory answer to that either. I never received an email. On Tuesday I called News-Press back. A lady confirmed my account was closed in June and e-accounts are never charged more that $39 so the $59 was curious. She said I would get an email within 30 minutes and be refunded immediately. It's now 8/2. No email, no refund. I tried using the chat feature and that was less help. I think there is something fraudulent going on that closed accounts are being accessed and charged even with expired cards that were supposed to be purged from the system. I want my $59 returned to my accountant and I don't want them to have any way of ever charging me again. Thank you
I can't believe it!
I can't believe it! I've been trying for over a year to get The News-Press to stop charging my credit card automatically. But guess what? They still charge me $9.99 every three months. It's so frustrating! So, every three months, I have to call them up and complain. I ask them to reverse the charges and block this company from using my credit card. But it's like they don't even listen!
Today, I had yet another unauthorized charge, and I had enough. I called them up again, hoping to finally resolve this issue. But guess what? The parent company of The News-Press has multiple vendor numbers with my credit card company. And they keep switching these numbers just to avoid getting blocked. Can you believe it? It's like they're playing a game with me!
The only way to stop this madness was to cancel my credit card. Can you imagine the hassle? Now I have to set up auto payments with all the other companies I actually trust. It's such a pain! I should have listened to my friends who warned me about this. But no, I thought my American Express card would protect me. Boy, was I wrong!
This whole situation feels like they're stealing from me. I'm on a fixed retirement income, and every dollar counts. It's just not right! They will do anything to get your money, even if it means going to shocking extremes. It's despicable!
Honestly, I'm not surprised that newspapers like The News-Press are dying. Good riddance, I say!
Two years ago, they had a deal for the e-edition of the Fort Myers News Press for $5.00 for 1 year
Two years ago, they had a deal for the e-edition of the Fort Myers News Press for $5.00 for 1 year. They said I would be charged $9.99 per year after the deal, and I agreed. In January , they charged me $9.99, which was what I expected. However, this year they charged me $29.04 without my permission. The billing department was closed on 1/1/2022 and 1/2/2022, so I called the News Press on 1/3/2022 to dispute the charges. They said the price had changed and $29.04 was the right price. They didn't inform me about the price change. I asked them to cancel my subscription and give me a refund. They sent me an email confirming the cancellation on 1/3/2022. When I called them, they said they would credit my credit card within a week. On 1/12/2022, I still hadn't received the credit on my credit card, so I called them again. This time, they said it takes 7-10 business days to process the refund. Today is the 11th business day, and I still haven't received the credit on my credit card. I called them today, and they said it's still being processed. I trusted them, so I set up auto-renewal with my credit card to avoid forgetting to renew at $9.99 per year. I tried to remove my credit card from my account, but there's no option to do it online, only to change it.
